Whether he’s playing guitar or keyboards, Bundick's swirling effects and highly rhytmic productions envelope audiences in an immersive, undeniable groove. His gliding falsetto provides a boyish innocence to his earnestly crafted songs, and even though his lyrics cover personal topics like heartbreak and remorse, he keeps the vibe upbeat by anchoring each song in pumping beats and groove-heavy flourishes. I had a great trip with my fiance and three friends to Detroit. Before the concert we walked through the Heidelberg Project and admired the public outdoor art that lives among the rooted neighborhood. We made it to the Magic Stick in time to wait in line at the door for a half hour. It didn't help that the street the venue is on was completely tore up and inaccessible, but nonetheless. It was a vintagesque bowling alley/diner that looked like major Detroit hipster hangout. We bolted to the merch table to explore our options. They had some good stuuf, I got two cds, S got a vinyl and Z and J got shirts. His opener Vinyl Williams was acceptable, but everyone seemed impatient to see Toro Y Moi. Near the end of the intermission S and I saw Mr. Chaz walk up to the merch table and chat for a brief moment. His smile is like butterfly kisses from a kitten. We were basically breathless and then Z and J came back and said they saw him too! It was great that we were split up and all still managed to snap a glimpse of him. But yes, the performance was amazing and uplifting. The crowd wasn't most favorable as some people couldn't control their broseph frat/clubrat drinking habits, but we didn't let any of that ruin the wonderful time Toro Y Moi presented for us. Will definitely be seeing them again.

Toro y Moi is the greatest band out in my eyes. It's like their music speaks to me and understand me. What I would want in a friend, in a mate, and with my family. The band was so into the music I really felt alive. When they first came out, they played You Hid which was my all time favorite. Word can't explain that night. It was simply put AMAZING.

I should have read more about his live shows online in advance of the show, and my expectations would have been different. Anytime the keyboardist picked up the guitar......ugh. I was hoping for a more mellow show. Chaz' voice was drowned out by the band. His upbeat songs with the disco flavor were good. I recommend checking out some uploaded videos from live shows before buying tickets.

Toro Y Moi never ceases to amaze me...they are always great live and professional. I noticed they do little twists and turns to spice up every live show they have! (Esp. Chaz Bundick ;) I was pretty bummed that they didn't play for very long. I wasn't sure if that was on purpose or if they had a specific time limit to close the show.

This show was awesome and the opening bands, Ava Luna and Unknown Mortal Orchestra rocked. I wasnt really into either of them at first but hearing them live made me love em. They accompanied Toro y Moi really nicely. Toro did a spectacular job though and played a nice mix of old and new. Make sure to check out the new EP! Well I guess I was a little pissed because it started an hour late, due to the first opener being super late. But they ended up being pretty good, so it wasn't too bad. Anyway, Toro y Moi were really good. But I feel like the live music doesn't really catch the ambiance of his recorded stuff. They sounded a funk jam-band, albeit a great one. I was slightly disappointed about that. Also, they played a lot of new music. The only song I recognized was Talamak. But people were definitely grooving and dancing hard. Good show, but different than how I pictured it.

The opening acts were a tad scary. Adventure was a strange male duo, the back-up singer sang better than the lead, and the rhythms and lyrics were repetitive. Oh yeh, there was a third techie k-b guy.. forgot him. Then, Braids got on and the lead singer was sick. She needed special vocal enhancers to help her out. boohoo. So, we waited...and waited. And when they finally were ready, I was happy that they were OK but nothing too pay for. I'd listen to them on last.fm while lollygagging on tumblr. Finally, Toro y Moi gets on and the mood changes. Everyone is dancing. However, he didn't play certain tunes like "Blessa" or "My Touch", strange eh? And NO encore. Weirder.. And the concert was on a Sunday. Eh. And the guitar and keyboard quirks seemed programmed for the "Underneath The Pine" album, so when they played the old tunes, it sounded...different. I enjoyed it but I had more fun dancing in my room to them. They seemed a bit too distant from the audience. I was hoping to FEEL their presence, I was at the very front. I wanted to see smiles and tears and wiggles...but nothing. Just cutesy awkwardness.

I really wanted to like this show a lot more, and while I found it entertaining, something was different. The mezmiring feel of the hazy "bedroom" recorded versions of his songs are somewhat lost, as the music is produced by a jam/funk ensemble. This is neither a good or a bad thing, just different. Granted many of Toro's beats are "funky," it is just much more evident when the sounds are heavilly generated from live drums, guitar, and bass. Overall, the visuals were fun, as they provided a psychadelic lava lamp-esque background matched to the equally funky beats, but again it is the funk aspect of the live show noy present on studio recorded versions of the songs, that makes the sound differ. I did find myself moving to every track off "Causers of This" and definitely enjoyed the set for what it was. He will be playing two FREE shows at Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park on August 27th & 28th. Highlights: "New Beat," "Still Sound," "Low Shoulder," "Talamak"

The supporting bands were much better than I anticipated, thank god, because I was very disappointed with Toro Y moi. The back up band was way too loud, drowning out his voice and the ambiant/hazy back ground sound so unique to his music. I felt like I was listening to a bad funk/jam band, not at all like his recordings. I could barely even decipher the songs I've grown to love from rocking out on my IPOD!

Seeing Toro y Moi at Terminal 5 again was incredible. Chaz really knows how to put on a good show. Aside from the new album being amazing, he's able to really recreate the sound in live performances while also adding his own treat to each crowd. This is my third concert at The House of Blues. I thoroughly enjoy seeing shows here and this one did not disappoint. Although the crowd was sparse The sea and Cake delivered a solid 45 min opening set. Highlights for me were Weekend, Exact to Me , and Leeora which they tweaked out to end the set. Toro Y Moi announced their presence with authority by delving into Harm in Change and absolutely mesmerized the audience. I had seen him two years prior but this show was much more powerful. Solid 85 min set to boot!

Toro Y Moi put on a fantastic show at The National. They brought a great energy to the stage which translated to the crowd dancing all night. Out of all of his hits, Toro y Moi decided to play the songs on the albums that you tend to skip over. For a rainy Friday night, he should've stayed with the more upbeat tunes to keep the audience from falling asleep but chose not to play those songs. Most of the audience checked out during the show, resorting to talking amongst themselves, checking their phones, etc... When you have a choice on whether to play the hits or play the more unknown tracks.... choose the hits!!! The quality of music was exceptional, but I think that the concert would've been better if he played more of his danceable tracks to keep the audience's attention. It seemed those tracks were the ones that people reacted better to. As I said to my husband after the concert, "It wasn't a bad concert.... but it wasn't good either".

Toro Y Moi was phenomenal! Though a great deal of the songs played were (as expected), from Toro Y Moi's most recent album "What For?", Chaz and Co. interspersed some crowd favorites in there as well (most notably "Still Sound" and "New Beat"). A few of the earlier songs in the set were a bit meandering, and lacking the vitality of his most popular works, but the arrangements translated phenomenally in the live setting. The band was tight and cohesive, and though frontman Chaz Bundick wasn't the most animated of performers - not that he needed to be - the music sounded incredible. Towards the middle of the show, the funk was on full display and the crowd was electric! It was essentially a huge dance party. Toro Y Moi ended the show on a bit of a sour note, with the lethargic "Yeah Right". However, after a call for an encore, the band brought the house down with a rousing finale including "So Many Details" and an extended, extra-funky iteration of "Say That"!

This was my first real concert. I went alone but the crowd was wonderful, friendly and full of energy. I got there early so that I could be closer to the stage. No one could stand still once the music started, everyone was dancing. Once Chaz was done with the last song, some ppl started to leave. The rest of us screamed and chanted until he came back out and performed 2 more songs. I know a few ppl had a chance to meet him and the band. I was super jealous, but I think they waited for like an hour in the back. I had a lot of fun and I will make sure to see him every time he comes to GA.

Given the style of music and the venue, had they invested in a lighting package, this place would have been jumping. Normally I wouldn't care less about lights, but Terminal 5 was ready to rock, the music was on beat and we were starring at shadows most the time. Bassist was unreal, but was trying to fill a lead that was not present. The overall sound and groove was great, but lack of a real lead guitarist or keyboardist kept the music a little flat and repeatiive. Overall I thought the show was good and the openers were great.

Toro y Moi came through Boston early 2013 and played Paradise, a mid-sized venue, and it was a great show. So good, in fact, that I decided to see them AGAIN when they came to House of Blues in October! Since their show a few months ago, they've added a second synth player (which is sick, cause now Chaz can dance and be more active with the crowd), re-arranged some of the songs (more guitar now and it's FUNKY), and generally gotten even awesomer. It was a FANTASTIC show and was honestly the most danceable (and i mean dancing, not grinding or jumping) show I've been to. A ton of fun, amazing job from Chaz and the band.

OK - I was probably the oldest person there, for sure, so take my review for what it's worth. My daughter invited me to this show with her. Had balcony seating which was nice - would not have liked to stand in line outside and then stand up for hours below watching the show. She was excited because several celebrities were ushered in right before Toro y Moi came on stage, and sat right in front of us. To me Dog Bite sounded like a bad neighborhood garage band - singer pretty monotone - should not have been on the bill at all or only should have sung maybe 2 songs. Sinkane was pretty awesome - love the kind of tribal beat they had going in several numbers, though ultimately they too could have played fewer songs as the main attraction was Toro y Moi whose arrival on stage seemed to take forever and end quickly. I believe Chaz B. of Toro y Moi has serious star potential - he sounds kind of like a new era electronica Michael Franks. A bit monotone too at times but I think in his case that will improve in time (my daughter tells me that's the style...but hey, I'm into music of all types, especially World music and anything with a great beat. Monotone is monotone, and Chaz B. is way too talented to not improve upon that). Long night (we got there at 7:15 to stand in line outside and the show ended after midnight). Could have started earlier especially on a work/school night. Cool theatre - weird mural on walls, though. All in all great show, we had lots of fun, and it was a flashback to my younger days in Hollywood longer ago than most of the audience has been alive. I got to be a fly on the wall and that was cool. Great crowd. Glad to know the new generation has it going on.

We had a blast at the Toro y Moi/Sinkane show. It was a crowded show that was well received by the crowd. I thought it was an eye opening show in a lot of respects as a multiple genre musician and music lover. I think both of these bands are on the cutting edge sound-wise and they played their asses off to boot. One of the members of Sinkane at one point was absolutely riveted to the keyboard while singing and fretting the guitar at an intense pace. I think we were in awe. Meanwhile, the drummer was really grooving on some creatively global beats. The highlight was definitely Toro y Moi and between the meticulous catchiness of the grooves, vast sound, and the corresponding light scheming, it was all really a positive and inspiring occasion that I loved and will definitely hold high on my list of favs.

Totally unexpected but well worth it. There is a reason his tour is sold out. Awesome show!

Went to see the second opener, Wild Belle. They were absolutely incredible. Toro y Moi was fine, but felt more like a light show.

Cramped space since it was a sold out show, but it was definitely worth it. Toro y Moi puts on a GREAT show. If they come to your town, go!

I was fairly new to this artist and after being introduced to this artist; watching him perform live was simply amazing. Great performance! Chaz came back to do an encore with 2 more tracks and crowd started bumpin' and break dancing. Unforgettable night!

Missed the opening act. Caught the second band WILD BELLE and having never heard them before, they were terrific. Headliner TORO Y MOI came on and the crowd went nuts. Everyone was dancing, vibing out entirely to his music. The show ended and we wanted more so everyone screamed for "one more song." Chaz came out and played two more for us. During the last of the two, I made a circle and got people to breakdance - it was the funnest thing our whole group has done in a while. The National got this one right, head on.

2013 started out with a bang. Toro Y Moi killed it. Smooth Electronics that are good for dance or late night. It was like I was in a trams. Come back to Atlanta, Shaky knees, Music Midtown, Counter Point, or just by your self. I'd pay to see in any fashion

Best show I've ever attended, the vibe was amazing. So many people were there. It was nice too see so many different races in one place. The opening bands took forever to finish, but it was still nice. I go to a lot of concerts and this is prolly the best show I've ever been to
