i've been a big fan of bonobo for a while and i always get nervous when someone i like so much puts out a new album for fear that they won't do themselves justice. thank god bonobo knows what they are doing. the new album is amazing. for years i've been wishing for a show close to where i live (DC). brooklyn was close enough and i made the well-worth-it drive up on easter to finally see bonobo live. it was better than i expected. only complaint was that it was too short. they should've played for at least 4, maybe 5 hours. haha.

This was the best show I've ever seen. Bonobo is amazing just as himself, but with the live band....nothing compares. All the musicians switched instruments throughout the set, and the female singer was super sexy and talented. I would follow them on tour in a heartbeat!

Simon was great, don't get me wrong. But The Invisible's "Jacob and the Angel" stole the show for me. I never got a chance to see The Police live in their heyday, but I have a feeling that that was the closest I'll ever get

As a first-timer for Bonobo live session (and I did not buy Live at Koko), I had no idea how Simon Green was going to do the whole recreation of his music by not being an ordinal DJ without a full orchestra as you find in his latest album. My worry has completely gone when he started to take his base to play. Other supporting members were also excellent, not only in terms of their techniques but just enjoy playing, being there and sharing the moment. Their abilities to play ad libitum-ish solo was amazingly entertaining. And of course, Andreya Tryana's magnetic performance was simply fantastic! It was a gig I did not want to end. Absolutely an excellent show!

I am a fan of Bonobo but usually listened to them while working or chilling with friends. So I was very skeptical when a friend suggested we go to the concert. The show turned out to be great fun and I would definitely watch them live again.

Bonobo put on a great show, only hindered by the quality of the sound system. The complex structures and layers that drive so much of their music were at times lost, this was especially true for the vocalist and the flute. This was my first time at this venue, so I am not sure whether this was (is) a limitation of the place. But overall a very, very solid performance.

The music was absolutely fantastic! People also felt safe and there weren't any fights or pushing's. The youngsters did not try to get alcohol and everyone acted very mature. The crowding was perfect and it was not too hot. Andrey was marvelous ! the sounds and the lightning were great!

Bonobo Live Band is a talented bunch of musicians with a variety of instrumentation and sounds reminiscent of Cinematic Orchestra but pale by comparison and just lacked a certain inspiration. Andreya Triana as guest vocalist did raise their depth but I was just a little disappointed overall. Openers The Invisible are a force to be reckoned with. Worth the price of admission alone! They were far superior live and musically. Bowery Ballroom is a good space for a gig.

Performing with a live band made this show far more interesting. The intimate setting and small size of the Bowery Ballroom made this venue perfect for Bonobo. Simon Green Played Bass along with a full band including Bajka laying down some smooth vocals.

I thought this man/ band put on an amazing show. I could've grooved and rocked my socks for many hours after the band was over, but for while they were on stage, I was enthralled! The staff of the Tralf were anything except for nice, but the bartenders weren't half bad and drinks weren't overly expensive. To be fair, I arrived late and so don't know if a disclaimer was offered at the start of the show. But the one man danceable DJ that regularly rotates through my exercise mix was notably absent. Instead a six-piece band reminiscent of sound tribe sector 9 jammed out, while a female vocalist added lauryn-hill-esque lyrics. After a few moments of confusion, I sought confirmation from the CD vendors: was this actually Bonobo? Amazingly, I got conflicting answers! From his own sales crew!! And then a distraught fan appeared to my left, lamenting the loss of his beloved Bonobo, replaced by a downer jam band. A few more queries confirmed that it was in fact the band we'd come to see, but wearing a totally different hat - and certainly not one i would have dragged four friends out to see. The bottom line: happy for Bonobo to take a turn and start a band, but you must give your audience some warning! And in the very least - make sure the venue is well informed.

I wasn't sure what to expect since this is my first time seeing Bonobo live but I was greatly surprised. The live band was stellar as was the accompanying vocalist. I truly hope Bonobo saw the love that the crowd had (I certainly could feel it from the intense energy and rumbling of the upper level) and returns to the Mile High City. I thought his music is genius on CD but it's even better live! How is that possible???? If they came back next month and every month after, I would be quite the regular at the Ogden!

I'd been wanting to see Bonobo for years and was so excited. Unfortunately because of the sound quality I had difficulty enjoying the music. The vocals and all the instruments and layered nuances were totally drowned out by overwhelming base and primary electronic sound. I moved around the venue to see if the sound improved depending on location but it did not make a difference. It was rather frustrating. I would rather have been at home listening to one of the albums on headphones.

I've seen Bonobo multiple times now, though this was the biggest venue yet. Still, if you have the chance to go to one of his actual shows (not just a DJ set), don't pass it up. I think at one point there were 13 different people on stage contributing to the songs with Mr. Green leading them all like a conductor of sorts. Hands down my favorite artist to see live.

First time at the Electric Factory seeing Bonobo. The only real complaint about the venue was the bar set up. We were packed like sardines and there's only one way out/in. Wish they had a better design to exit near the front by the stage so the flow of traffic was better. We started out dancing up front by the stage to the left but the reverb coming off the speakers was too much for us. It really drowned out the voices of the singers and the bass sounded bad. Maybe in the middle of the room or up above sounded better. Either way it was an awesome show and as always Bonobo made amazing music to dance to.

This show sucked, the "live band" (a glorified karaoke act) played for and hour and 45 minutes and ended the show at 1120pm... on a Saturday night. What a waste of money. No one was dancing, everyone's looked sad, there was never a peak during the show ... lame as fuck. Wish I could get my money back. Bonobo was a major MAJOR letdown.

I was looking forward to seeing Bonobo all week. I bought two extra tickets for friends visiting from out of town. It was a Saturday night in NYC and the show was over by 11:00pm!! On the way to the show I texted friends who were already there asking if Bonobo had gone on yet. They said don't bother coming, it's already his encore and everyone is about to leave. Apparently he had another set somewhere else in the city that night. If a show starts around 8pm on a Saturday night, I believe we should be told if it is going to wind down at 11pm when there are only two acts! Very disappointing Bonobo and Terminal 5...

I gotta say outstanding show!!! I don't like the idea of seeing a DJ-esk live show, it's kind of like: what's the point, people playing things is impressive to watch and hear. Bonobo brings live music with his production mastery and I have to say I was most entrapped when it was just him mixing/spinning solo. He's got an incredible musical imagination that weave layers viscerally vs. what you expect from a DJ which is loops that change but are very predicable. Bonobos music for the sake of music- mean the stuff that's going in your ears without analyzing its style/origin is simply phenomenal and so easy to love. Live he was even better I would definitely see him many more times. I truly think he's one of the best contributors to music today

I am a longtime fan of bonobo, but I was genuinely surprised by the strength of his live performance, and his guests performing live instrumentation put it over the top. Those guests really stood out and made the live performance perfect, ESPECIALLY the vocalist (who was wonderful and tied it all together) and, saxophone player (who was the best I have yet seen live). Not to disparage the other great musicians he had with him. Highly recommended and the venue was great, as others have said, possibly the only thing I really could've asked for was a longer set.

I went for Bonobo, one of my favorite acts and LOVED the opening act El Ten Eleven. They KILLED it. That drummer has so much tenacity and the whole orchestration of their songs was enthralling!! I will be buying their work and coming back in Dec when they headline at the same venue, the El Rey. Bonobo was great but I found some of the newer picks to be some of the slower choices, or downtempo. I was hoping to get my groove on a little more but they rocked regardless.

Amazing concert, both the opening bad and Bonobo were SO awesome live. The venue The El Rey is great, very hollywood with a fun vibe, cool interior and great acoustics, but it's all standing, no seating (I don't recommend heels or uncomfortable shoes for the ladies, you'll be on your feed all night!) They started the show a lot later than expected - I wish Ticketmaster would put the time the show starts on the tickets, as well as when the doors open. For a Sunday night (work night) it would have been nice to know the show would go till after midnight.

For me, 'Shigeto' stole the show. He was AMAZING!!! Don't get me wrong, 'Bonobo' were great, very entertaining, but 'Shitegos' sound, execution & sheer passion for what he does was infectious & electrified the venue. The sound system reverberated in my body for days. Occasionally the treble distorted alittle & the bass almost strangled my throat & compressed my stomach but that might be because I was so close to the stage, I don't know. All in all, it was a great night out. Very very friendly people & not too crowded, I'd definitely recommend this to friends, in fact, I already have.

Bonobo: I flew from NC to Boston for the opportunity to see Bonobo with a full live band. DJ Sets are just not my thing...but seeing Bonobo live with a band has been on the "to do" list for years and I have some friends that live in Boston...perfect. Needless to say, I'm extremely glad I made the trip. The musicians on stage were a force and the light show was fantastic. The experience was more amped up than the"Live @ Koko" DVD but it still had a lot of the jazziness and improvisation. Well done!!! About the only negative was not having a string section, but I was still very impressed at the great musicians and production on stage for such a modest ticket price. Opening Act - Nickodemus: A DJ set...Just not my thing. I don't get why I'm going to look at some guy on a stage bobbing his head while staring at a computer screen and tweaking a few knobs every now and then. Some people were into it though...to each their own. Venue - Paradise Rock Club: I was very impressed by the venue. It's very wide, but not very deep (maybe 20 rows). As such, there's virtually no bad view in the place. The sound at the center of the venue was fantastic. The sound on the sides was also good. Even though the vocals and sax were a little low when on the sides, I was impressed that it was not too boomy/muddy. Beers and mixed drinks were very reasonable for a music venue in Boston...and mixed drinks weren't watered down.

Bonobo was amazing. As a live band, they wayyyy exceeded my expectations and with Paradise as a venue, they were intimate as well. Great time!

This was a fantastic show. He played an hour and a half long set that was filled with songs from The North Borders but also included hits from previous albums. I think he achieved an excellent balance of new and old, and the musicians were all phenomenal.

Gorgeous and super engaging new singer. Live band was fantastic. Simon & the singer hung out for a bit while they broke down the show and what a super nice guy!

With their ambient sound and soulful style, Bonobo was utterly amazing! Straight to the point of creating live good music for the audience. Looking fwd to their return to the HOBlues at the end of 2013 summer.

Man what an incredible show this was. Inspired Flight was pretty cool and Tokimonsta played a dope jazzy/electro/dub style set -- reminiscent of Flying Lotus, whose label she's signed to. Then Bonobo came and killed it! He had a full live band and they absolutely nailed their songs, delivering them in interesting and dynamic ways. They incorporated almost every style I love into the set, with some funk, jazz, hip hop, eastern, electro, and even venturing into the territory of dubstep. The singer, Andreya Triana I believe, was excellent, as were all the musicians. The horns section was great and the drummer phenomenal! And the sound was mixed perfectly. Each instrument came through great in the mix, with no one drowning out the others, despite the large medely of sounds. The crowd had a great vibe, too. Not as energetic as some shows, but everyone was still gettin down. After the show was done we wanted more!! so they came out and did like a 3 or 4 song encore which included one of my favorites. Really liked the venue too, the Music Box (except for the 5$ waters). All in all it was an incredible night. GoldenVoice knows how to throw em. Everyone go see Bonobo!

Last April when Simon and the band along with Andryea Triana came thru, the set list was mostly from Black Sands and while I was one happy camper, I walked away feeling like I had missed out on all the oldie but goodies. Well. In November, Bonobo delivered just that along with much of the new stuff. The soulful music spilled out into the crowd, causing the room to simply buzz with a magical ambience that carried me all the way home. My only complaint is that like the last show, this show was too too short. But what they packed into 1 hour 15 min, was well worth seeing and hearing. Dang I love this band and will always buy a ticket to see them.

to be perfectly honest i was a little disappointed with the show. i am in no way saying that it wasn't good, it was a pretty solid show. i have just been a bonobo fan for a while now and absolutely love his music. i was really expecting to be blown out of the water, but was left wanting something more from the experience. the musicianship was stellar- as to be expected- however I wish there would have been more solos and experimentation/improvisation mixed in. the sound balance also seemed a bit off, the bass sort of overwhelmed everything. would recommend to check out though, perhaps i just caught the band on an off night. tokimonsta was pretty meh :/ ...

Saw them at Glastonbury last summer and decided to check them out here on tour. Glad that I did. Very tight and talented group. I'd go back and see them anytime.

I thought the venue was great, parking was easy and Bonobo and Tokimonsta were off the chain. I love them though and am a major fan...will see them again in a heartbeat.
