Chromeo

CHROMEO IN CONCERT:Who knew that two former hip hop producers could unleash such an impressive onslaught of floor-filling, '80s-inspired dance music? The throngs who have seen this electro-funk duo, that's who. Famous for their roguish nature and booty-bumping beats, they're equally adept at electrifying massive crowds and small clubs. Their fourth album, White Women, promises to be a scorcher in 2014 and will bring all the groove-nuts to the yard as they hit the road for a North American tour.SNAPSHOT BACKGROUND:Friends since their days growing up together in Montreal, Dave One and Pee Thug formed Chromeo in 2004, quickly finding a following with their slick take on '80s electro-funk.

Huge stage, huge server room set up, light show galore, soulless performance. Bland, insipid, terrible show. No stage presence and terribly plastic songs. I would pay you money not to go to this show. These jokers on stage did not even know what city they were in. They screamed what is up San Francisco!!! Dude, you are in Oakland. Really? So bad. They are just going thru the motions. Their opening band was SOOO much better with their set. Disgraceful.

This concert was one of the most fun experiences Ive ever had at a music event. They completely interacted with the crowd and got great energy without any of the violent, mosh pit response. The venue itself was well ventilated and open so everyone had a great view of the stage, and the music just made you want to get out there and dance! The weakest part of the whole show was Telephoned since they were set up well on the side of the stage and were obviously lip singing some of their music. Neon Indian started out a little weak, but really built up into a great energy by the end.

Awesome, awesome show. These guys are so much fun and really know how to rock the crowd. Great energy from beginning to end, didn't drag anything out, and just seemed to be having the time of their lives up there. And the slow jams at the end were the perfect encore.

the santa Barbara bowl is an amazing venue and there isn't at bad seat in the house, we went to see glitch mob and they rocked. chromeo is truly terrible. it's a knock off of disco and electronica and I don't understand what everyone was excited about. they just weren't unique.

Really amazing show. Glitch mob tends to go a little too hard, but they have a great stage presence. I felt like I was at a concert in some futuristic anime gundam universe. Chromeo seriously killed it so hard. They were amazing. I missed Com Truise, but am a big fan of his. Kind of bummed it started sooooo early: 7:15. Last bart to sf is at 12:30, set ended at 11. Maybe has to do with berkeley sound restrictions? With my earplugs in the bass guitar was a little to present and it interfered with the kick drum. This doesn't usually happen at indoor venues. I suppose I didn't really need ear plugs since the treble wasn't too harsh with out them. Sounded really great otherwise. Couldn't really dance on the stairs though, that's the weird part about that venue, you can see at the expense of being able to dance.

Overall the experience was riddled with 1 hour delays, 30 to 45 minute intermissions, and enough contact high to drug a horse. The redeeming part of the concert was the headlining act itself. However, by the time that started it was nearly 3 hours after we arrived. If you were intending to see a Chromeo concert, then you better prepare to attend a rave when Glitch mob is the opening act. Don't forget your glow sticks next time.

I'm a big fan of Chromeo and Glitch Mob so this concert was a no-brainer. I saw Glitch Mob's tour last year and was a bit underwhelmed to say the least. Their focus on showmanship and a fancy stage rig detracts from the music in my opinion, especially since it's difficult to tell how much they're actually playing and what's simply DJed. However it's still fun to hear those epic bass drops thrumming through your chest in a big venue with a dancing crowd. Not to mention they played some interesting new tracks and a super fun remix of "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. Chromeo was a wholly different show and the contrast was fun and welcome. Besides some special lighting and an appropriate amount of chrome stage dressing, their set was much more about the performance and having fun. Both Dave and P-Thugg interacted with audience and fooled around on stage. They had a few fun set piece moments: Dave bouncing bathing the audience in light bounced off his guitar during a solo, P-Thugg toying with the audience via his autotuned vocals, and a decent amount of duo posing. I'm guessing we either missed Com Truise or he was DJing from behind the scenes? Not sure. The Greek was a great open air venue with nice amphitheater style seating. It was nice to be in the fresh air and it was thankfully quite warm. My only gripe was the sound was a bit muddled, especially during Chromeo's set where, at least from the tiered seating, it was difficult to make out most of the vocals.

One thing is for sure, if you attend a Chromeo concert dancing is mandatory. They funked from beginning to end. Dave's voice was amazing, Pee's energy was on point. Chromeo had this type of energy that was infectious and it was a huge dance party throughout the night! Wave Racer and Mapei were also good opening acts too, very different types of music (: But honestly, their show was just filled with all their old songs, as well as some songs from White Women, but everyone was just singing the words to each song and dancing all over the place, truly an underpaid concert, they deserve so much more credit!

The mini tour before the Frequent Flyer tour was much, much better (my 6th or so Chromeo show). Chromeo's demo has become very young and this all ages show was filled with teens who don't know how to behave at concerts. The Shrine was not intimate at all and you had trouble seeing/hearing from the back. I had been 7th row but the people around me were so annoying, I moved to the very back and felt disengaged from the show. Chromeo also kept the audience waiting quite long -- especially for those who had been there since the doors opened. The opening acts were painful.

I absolutely LOVED the show for my first time seeing them! Doors opened at 8 but the show didn't start until 10:30 & finished at 11:30 ! The only bad thing was that I really wish their actual performance was longer because I felt I waited a long time for just an hour of performace. Their performance however was awesome! Dave 1 & Pthugg really have talent and they know how to hype their fans up. They're full of energy and they sound great live. The place the event was in (Terminal 5) was okay. Good atmosphere. The staff was nice. I'm really proud to be a Chromeo fan and keep up the great work. I would definitely go to another show in nyc ! Keep showing your NYC fans LOVE!!!! What an incredible evening dancing with my fellow funkateers. Chromeo played an outstanding playlist of their greatest hits along with the new tracks off the recently released album. The opening DJ set an adequate set up for an evening of fun and revelry. When Chroemo comes to your city do yourself a favor and pick up two tickets. Introduce your friend or sibling to an evening of unbrideled passion.

Everyone was amazing. Starting with Danny Banana, the DJ, who pulled out a Sax at one point and rocked the house. Then onto Mayer Hawthorne who played old and new hits, all very funky tracks. And then last but not least, Chromeo! They truly kept me moving my butt all night long. If you were in that crowd you were dancing. And they played mostly old tracks which I though was VERY COOL.

Telephone (1st Act): Not sure what I really expected but I didn't really vibe toomuch on their performance something seem off. On a lighter note they had high energy and deserve an A for effort & following through on the whole performance weather or not the crowd was feeling them. Holy Ghost! (2nd Act): Very intrigued to see what they do next. It was my first time watching them perform and boy did they raise the bar of energy right before Chromeo. They had once problem trying to perform a song because of instrument issues but even with that it was a great show by them. I downloaded their music already. I was loving the whole feel of their music. Chromeo (Final Act): They brought down the house! although this was their first performance in Texas they came guns blazing! We even got to listen to some new tracks. I did admire their show men skills they know how to perform rather well. They were sorta dry though they didn't really communicate with the crowd the only time they did was to Great & Say Bye to Dallas and through their music. Overall I was dancing all night and the crowd was all over the place and everyone was having a good time. Great atmosphere.

I really liked the Greek Theatre - different spaces for different groups, you could sit down, not a bad seat in the house. Com Truise was fun, Glitch Mob put on a great and energetic show, and Chromeo was super fun. I think Dave 1 isn't the strongest singer, but he's got help with P-Thugg on the vocoder. They put on a great show, but they could use some back-up. Sometimes I wasn't sure if they were just singing over recordings, but maybe that was me being biased.

This was my sixth time seeing Chromeo, first time seeing them outdoors. It was a beautiful night and spectacular show. The venue was set up in a very smooth manner where transitions from crowd, to bathroom and drinks was manageable. My thoughts and tip is to have more beer venders because when Chromeo did go on, the beer lines were too much to deal with. Food for thought there. Other than that, the show was amazing, the sound was on point, the vibes were in the right place, and Chromeo made the night "Come Alive"! Chromeo should play much longer sets too! They have more songs in their Caliber to only play 12-14 sets. Bring on the 18+ songs and please play Opening UP!

So sad I didn't make it to Big Freedia, I was most excited, but the timing didn't work out. Chromeo feels cheesy and a little past their prime, but still really fun to dance to. chromeo was awesome as usual. the music was pumping, the sound was great but terminal 5 is the worst venue in new york city and every time i go i say "never again." the entire venue is GA making it impossible to get or keep a spot. people are moving and pushing the whole time and most of the space only offers a partial view of the stage. i know the tickets were only $25 each, but even that seemed like a waste.

Can I say this show was awesome? No, that's not the right word. It was spectacular, splendiferous, immaculate even! 10/10, would go again everytime.

When you wait 3.5 hours on your feet, suffer because of the bad warm-up act ever and just wasting precious time you could dedicate to NY - u expect not to like the concert as much as when u got there.but when Chromeo came to stage they just erase everything bad with their music!!! They made me happy!

the show was amazing. These two guys are awesome performers! I wish the sounds was a bit better. I felt like the bass was a little flat but aside form this minor issue the show was perfect.

Well, I have to write 50 words, but if you like Chromeo and have ever seen them live, you know they put on a great show. Terminal 5 isn't the best venue for sound, but it's a really cool space, and the prices are reasonable. Great jerky too.

These guys rock! The show was so much fun. However, they played for about an hour... A tad big short of a show

Chromeo never disappoints! They had a good mix of the songs that made them popular and some new ones from their latest album White Women. Its amazing the presence they have on stage. A must see for their fans!! Be warned they came on pretty late though...

Very energetic show. They played all the fan favs and there wasn't a "weak" song at all. My only complaint is that they only played 60 minutes. WAY too short! Basically just 10 mins longer than the opening act.

Chromeo was unbelievable. If you are in the position to go to one of their concerts, DO. NOT. HESITATE. Best light show ever! Dave One and P-Thug killed it! Almost scalped tickets for the next show just to see it again!

Chromeo is an amazing performance to see live. They have great energy and it's just a fun show! I recommend bringing sunglasses. This was my 2nd time seeing them and I learned that lesson the first time. Light show is awesome but just a little bright. Opening act: Oliver was kind of a dud.
