Relient K

RELIENT K IN CONCERT:More than a decade after their powerful pop punk anthems launched them to stardom, Relient K continues to be a reliably awesome live act. Longtime fans will be ecstatic to hear a setlist packed with throwback favorites like "High Of 75" and "Be My Escape" along with tracks from the band's later releases, including 2013's Collapsible Lung. Frontman Matt Thiessen is especially entertaining onstage, captivating concertgoers with his personable and funny banter. With their fast-paced pop jams and emotionally charged sets, these Christian rockers always deliver a high-octane concert experience that leaves ticket buyers begging for more.

We went to see Relient K for our anniversary. The band was AMAZING! We sat in the over 21 and older section and the only thing that I did not like was there was really no where to sit without paying for an upgrade. We did purchase the upgrade...80.00 later...and had amazing seats. The waitress was also great. Overall a fun time!

All three bands that played this show were fantastic. The singer of The Rocketboys had a really lovely and clear voice. Aaron Gillespie of The Almost was incredible as always and of course Relient K completely stole the show. Matt Thiessen has such a strong voice- whether high pitched or low. Instrumental was great, sound was great and the crowd was great. Matt was also very funny and interacted with the crowd. Loved it. First time seeing Relient K in 6 years, since my 16th birthday.

It had been almost 10 years since I last saw Relient K and it was def worth the wait! They totally rocked the house! They did a good blend of old and new, only complaint I have is that they didn't play anything from one of my favorite albums, Five Score and Seven Years Ago. I could have done without Hellogoodbye (just not really my kind of music) but William Beckett was really good! We got there after Mike Mains and the Branches so I can't say whether or not they were good. Overall, amazing show!!

My wife and I waited in line for 3 hours and stood during both opening bands to be right up front for Relient K... and they did not disappoint! They played a number of favorites like "Be my Escape" and "High of 75" and some new songs from their upcoming record ("Forget and Not Look Back" due out Oct. 9). They also covered the subway 5 dollar foot long song and the office theme song. They ended with an encore of "Deathbed". I would highly recommend Relient K and I will be going to see them again as soon as they come back.

The show was excellent as expected. Relient K continues to show they are very under-rated in the music business. They continue to crank out songs and make it fresh every time you hear it live as this is the 5th time I've seen them in concert. I really wish they'd get more respect and more play-time on Popular Radio.

I'd have to say that Relient K was one of the best concerts that I've ever been to. It's not hard when they are your favorite band, but they did everything just right. It seemed like they were tapping in to my brain to know what song should be played next. They played all the best of the best. In addition, they added a few parodies in b/w songs just to give us a laugh including "The Office" theme song and Subway's "Five-dollar-foot-long" song. In the end, I didn't want to leave. They could have played all night.

Bummed that Quietdrive didn't show, but Owl City was better than expected and Relient K simply put on a great show. Played a lot of their old stuff, which was definitely a positive thing. I've been told that Relient K isn't as good live, but this show has proved otherwise. Great performers!

Relient K was awesome. They brought us back to the days of MMHMM from start to finish. The only downside of the concert experience was that it was impossible to understand the lyrics of the opening bands. I don't know if the sound mixing was off or what, but it made it hard to enjoy a potentially good new group that I hadn't heard before. Overall, great show!

Relient K was fantastic, played through the MmHmm album in stellar fashion and then encored for a good 25 minutes on the songs we all wanted to hear from other records\u2026 It was great to see Dave back on drums & vox, Matt T was in great form out front and Hoopes was\u2026 Hoopes!! So Mmhmm played a big part in me developing an interest in pop punk as a genre. Ten years removed it's still a classic so seeing it played in its entirety live was an awesome experience. It was early in the tour so the songs weren't album tight, but the nostalgia and the spirit were there.

I was skeptical at first, I will admit, even coming from a die-hard fan. The first two opening bands, Sherwood and Deas Vail, were okay. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed their show, but they were really slow and I didn't feel like it was appropriate for the shows that Relient K usually put on. All I hoped for was that Relient K wouldn't go in the same direction they did. Luckily, my hope came true! The concert blew my expectations. Never before had Relient K have such spot-on vocals. The song selection was just perfect. They changed up some songs while still making everything recognizable, and they interacted with the audience. Even people who only knew a few Relient K songs could enjoy the concert. Everything was just perfect.

This show was really great. The opening acts, Deas Vail and Sherwood, played great acoustic versions of their songs and one or two Christmas songs each. Relient K did several of their normal songs, then several songs off their Christmas album towards the end. There was a great, Christmas-y atmosphere throughout the whole show. I would recommend this tour to anyone! The only problem I experienced was that there were really long gaps (30+ minutes) between each act. The waiting got really old really fast and the audience got a little restless.

I had seen Barcelona once before, and knew that the vocals were excellent. This time they had a 3 string string ensemble with them, and it really added a lot. Their set was really stunning. Copeland is a favorite of mine, and I enjoyed their set as always. I especially loved hearing Brightest on the set. Those who like Coffee and When Paula Sparks will love this set list. Relient K really was fun and energetic, and even though Thiessen was ill, it was hard to tell in the musical performance, although there was one point when some of us in the front really thought he might pass out. But he recovered and the show was definitely unforgettable. I especially loved the encore set and hearing Curl Up and Die live was a very nice surprise. :) The venue wasn't bad, the crowd was energetic, but not overly pushy, and I particularly love that the will call window opened a half an hour before door times. If I have the chance, I'd go again to be sure.

Relient K put on a great show at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City. Barcelona was the first band to come on. I didn't know much of this band, but thanks to efforts put forth by others on ticketmaster, I was able to find out who the opening bands were and sample their songs so I could get a feel for what to expect. Barcelona was a good opening act as they put on a crowd pleasing show of good music. Copeland is a band who really needs no introduction, where as most of the people at the concert knew their music by heart. They put forth a sold performance. Relient K was simply amazing. Their setlist was incredible and I would definitely see them live again.

This is the third Relient K concert I have attended and they have never failed to entertain. Their music is great but their personaility is what makes their concerts so much fun. Relient K is a thematic band, which means each of their concerts have a theme. This time it was a nautical theme. To prepresent this theme they did covers of both "island in the sun" and "under the sea." It was absolutely fantastic and fun, not to mention that the location, the cabooze, allows the audience to get up close and personal with the band. There is no barricade and pretty much nothing between you and the band themselves; they are so close you can feel their sweat. The crowd was also pretty nice with no crazying pushing or anyone trying to hurt each other. The opening bands, Barcelona and Copeland, were great and fairly mellow. Overall great concert to attend!

I love Relient K. The music was awesome, as usual. This was my fourth concert of theirs and a first for my husband. It was like they were mad or didn't want to be there. Matt Theissen did say he was sick but he kept mentioning "maybe you'll come to another show" in this weird tone. It was like he was annoyed or mad at us. Strange, considering he is usually funny and a pretty likable guy. I would still pay to see them in a heart beat but my husband and cousin were really let down.

Once again, I was the "victim" of my 17-year-old daughter, who wanted to see this show. I didn't know either band or any of their music, but\u2026I have the car, and I have the credit card, so I thought, "Why not?" I'm really glad I went! Granted, I was one of the more "mature" people there, but that's ok w/me\u2026I'm not too thrilled about "standing room only", but after the opening act, we saw seats over to the right hand side of the theater, and got seats w/a great view. Both bands were great! You gotta admire their energy & enthusiasm! There were a lot of fun songs, and I was really impressed w/the lead singer of M.C.S. Impressed enough that I would buy an album\u2026or two. The Fox Theater seemed kinda of old and decrepit, but serviceable. We found FREE parking right out front (LOVE free parking!)(I was so surprised, I expected to find that my car had been towed, but it was all good), and the venue is small enough that everyone has a good view. The crowd was definitely younger, enthused, and friendly. I'd see both bands again!

Driver Friendly, the opening band, had mushy sound and forgettable music. Their energy was good but the sound was not mixed well, which was not in their favor. However, the benefit of their poor musicality was that it made Relient K shine! Relient K was awesome and Matt Thiessen was very personable. I enjoyed the concert very much but I wish I had seats and didn't have to stand the entire concert. All in all, it was enjoyable.

I had seen both bands at warped tour in 08, they NEVER disappoint! It was my younger cousins first concert (she loves MCS) she had a blast. Motion will forever have my respect as a band. Will definitely watch them in concert again!

I went to this show with my brother and he had no idea who the first two bands were. I had no idea who the Rocketboys were. However, we both enjoyed the bands. The energy in the room was awesome. Relient K certainly doesn't disappoint as a headliner, too. As soon as they came on stage, the excitement in the room was 10 fold!

I've been a fan of reliant K since 2002, pretty much since the beginning. To see them live was such a great experience. Not only did they incorporate old stuff and new stuff, Matt T and Hoopes were very personable with the audience. It was quite enjoyable.

I found out about this show about 24 hours in advance, and I'm glad I made the last minute decision to go. Relient K played a decently long set--around 21 songs. It included most of the new album as well as a good mix of older songs. This was my 3rd time seeing them over a span of 8 years, and every show has been great. I'll definitely be back next time they're in town.

Relient K is amazing in concert! Most fun concert I've ever been to. Their concert quality was unbelievable. The venue was a little lacking but the band made up for everything.

This show was simply incredible. I was unable to see the first two bands, but even so I was able to see Hellogoodbye and Relient K. Both of these bands were amazing and really fun to watch. I had never seen Hellogoodbye before and had only heard a few songs off their first album. I ended up buying their latest cd because they were so good and I really enjoyed their new style. Relient K played a ton of classics, like "Pressin' On" and several songs off of "Mhmmm". It was an amazing night and a concert I will never forget.

Relient K was awesome. I can't even describe what it was like when they came on stage. The only thing I didn't like was Hellogoodbye. I just wish Relient K had played longer.

Until Relient K came on stage, the crowd was really boring. I loved Mike Mains & the Branches, and Hellogoodbye was pretty good, but the crowd just wasn't into it for the opening acts.

The single highlight of this concert had to be the unexpected cover of the academy is... song, About A Girl. Hellogoodbye was disappointing. The band itself is nothing like it used to be and we weren't expecting that. Relient K puts on a good show but by the time we got through the hellogoodbye set we were kind of done for. Then they covered About a Girl which was awesome but took forever due to some sort of snafu with the sound system... we stayed for one song after that and then left. Sorry to say it wasn't a GREAT show... it was just okay.

We were pleasantly surprised at how good Mike Mains & the Branches were!! They're one of the best opening bands I've heard in a long time and I'll be checking out their music very soon. I have been a fan of William Beckett since his days in The Academy Is..., but was a little disappointed of the use of a laptop as all of the background music to his set. I would've liked an acoustic song or two, and he didn't play any Academy songs during his set, which I think would've pumped up the crowd a bit more. His performance was not at the same level of excitement that it used to be, but he made up for that a bit when he came on stage with Relient K. I saw a little bit of the old William Beckett when he performed with the band (throwing the mic up in the air, dancing around, etc.). His music is as great as always though and I can't wait to purchase it and start listening. HelloGoodbye was great, but I would've liked to hear a few more of their older songs. They did, however, play "It Is Love" and that's one of my favorites! Relient K was amazing! I've been listening to them for 10 years and was ecstatic to hear them play many of their old favorites as well as some awesome new songs. This concert was as much fun as I anticipated, the prices were decent, and loved the venue. Relient K is my favorite band and has been for 10 years. I have seen numerous shows of theirs and they are consistently a good time! As far as The House of Blues in Chicago, I've gone to a few concerts here before and always thought it was okay but the long walk from the train station was a downside for me (if the weather was bad). I happened to find a link to Greenway Self Park online and we purchased a ticket for Nightlife Parking (4pm-7am) for only $10 and it is literally around the corner from HOB! No worrying about missing the train or walking far in inclement weather.

Simply put, Relient K delivers. This show was a bit different than usual, as only "the Matts" (lead singer and guitarist) where present, backed by unknown but capable fill-ins on drums and bass. For this reason only I'm rating it 4 stars. Yet, even with the different and stripped back band the sound was aggressive, tight, and the audience ate it up. Matt T's vocals seem to just get better (this is my third time seeing them live). Openers: Hellogoodbye was fun and capable... hit some strong moments but dragged out their between-songs goofy banter. William Becket has a quirky, engaging vibe and I liked his material, but the overall affect suffered from it being just him plus band-in-a-box. A new discovery, Mike Mains & The Branches, kicked off the night with a first-rate, frenetic alt-rock set... they're worth checking out.

Excellent event. Only thing I have to complain about was the wait between bands. It was kind of tedious. Fun and vibrant!

I love love love relient K! They were so personable and still fresh even after all of these years. I first saw them 11 years ago at a small music festival and have loved them ever since! My only recommendation I could give, is in the future only have 2 opening bands, I don't want to have to wait as long to see RK! :) Great show!

Relient K put on such an amazing show. They played much of their older music and some new music which I can't wait to buy the album!! The players are sincere and were having a great time performing. There's something different about the band and as a Christian, they aren't pushy about their beliefs but their belief in God is present in their songs. They do a tremendous job of performing with secular bands and not placing themselves in a Christian bubble. Amazing band full of sincere and talented people. Thank you for an amazing concert.
