My experience at this show was very disappointing. 2 of Steel Pulses members were unable to fly from Europe and while that was purely bad luck a reggae band without their bass player and one of 2 backup singers, especially a band like this who's signature sound revolves around vocals and drum and bass, just isn't representative of the music the group is known for. I think this show should have been re-scheduled. The other issue for me was the very poor sound quality. Even though the volume was intense the main vocal was buried in the mix and there was never a time that I could make out any of the lyrics. All in all my whole experience was not pleasant.

The concert was very good. One of the two original members was unable to make it because he was stuck in England. But they did a very good job without him. The warm up group played to long. Would recommend them to everyone.

The production was very un-professional...from the opener to the actual performance of Steel Pulse..the opener lingered for over 1-1/2 hours which was a Really bad performance..if one can even call it that. ..Steel Pulse did ot begin thier performance untilo well after 10 PM, and was done by minutes after 11, with poor sound quality throughtout. I was very dissapointed...to say the least.

They played all of their old favorites! Opened with Rally Round, and Rollerskates! The crowd singing along drowned out David Hinds vocals, but...that's to be expected when fans are out in numbers...singing along. Energized show...really enjoyed it.

I have seen steel pulse about 15 times ,I heard my fisrt reggae song in 1977 it was Bob Marley and the Wailers doing Jammin. I was hooked from then on I am now 63 years old and still loving my reggae more than ever. when I first heard EARTH CRISIS Steel pulse became the most traveled reggae group, at least once or twice a year I could see them. The most memorable time was when they were invited to the White house for the inaugural dinner and Bill Clinton jamming whith them.

The Wailers were wonderful and Steel Pulse kept the place dancing. This was the complete reggae show. The Fortunate Youth were enthusiastic with traditional music. The Wailers were the BOMB. If they had been playing on Sunday, I would have bought tickets to the next night.

I came all the way from Colorado to see these geniuses play. They were amazing but the venue was so small tht I couldn't see the majority of the members. That upset me, if I knew how small the venue was I would I hve gotten there earlier. Besides, Steel Pulse requires a bigger venue, you need to dance to their music!!!

I love how most Reggae acts last about 1/2 as long as a typical show, but the music is so good, I wouldn't miss it. Steel Pulse sounds as good as they did when I saw them back in the early 90s. Studio quality sound. I wish they hit Philly more often. A good opener would have made this night 5 star.

I don't know why they aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet. Marley is there. The two opening bands were enjoyable, but the main attraction was well above what I had anticipated. Just such a great pick-me-up performance, yet prompted me to more soul searching about what I really want to do with my life. Yes, it's a bit of an atrocity to see young white folks inhaling through vaporizers, drinking and bounching up and down to some of the protest songs because if they really understood the music they'd understand it was a conveyance of messages about what is wrong in the world today (as well as 40 years ago). Music with meaning.

Tribal Seeds and the Wailers is a must see if you love reggae. They sound amazing and they are very old fashioned like unlike the modern reggae you hear nowadays which I love. They sound even better live and you can all tell they love what they do which makes the experience even more awesome and authentic. One negative thing was that we were late because it took a couple hours to find parking because the fair was so busy.

We usually love to see Steel Pulse but not sure we'd see them again. They seemed to be playing all new or unknown songs. I'd say maybe 3 songs had people up & dancing. Not sure how they just kept playing when people were either sitting or leaving. VERY disappointing.

I try to see these guys as often as I can (ever since my first show in the early '80s). I'm glad I didn't miss them at the Canyon club because it was better than Doheyne Days. It felt like they were playing for their home town at the Canyon. All their hits were played in their entirety (I never was a fan of the greatest hits tribute amalgamation songs with bits and pieces teased together). "Stepping Out" is a favorite of mine and they didn't let me down with this version. I still think the version they did in'89 was the best when the entire band slowed the beat down to nothing and slowly picked it back up... every one went crazy including me!! The Sax player killed it, but can we ever expect to get a big horn section again?

Wha gwan brothers and sisters! These guys still kick out the Jams! I always enjoy the sweet melodies coming out of them. If you enjoy Reggae or want to try a show, these guys are one of the best sounding acts you could take in. They played up a string of oldies for the fan packed crowd, alot of the True Democracy album one of my favorites. I would stop singing and dancing on occaission just to listen to the crowd singing along with most all of the Steel Pulse set. The crowd was thoroughly into the bright and punchy sounds coming from the band.

Steel Pulse show was amazing, and should have received much more attention by its audience than it did. I am not talking about the thousand plus avid fans who congregated in the dance pit at BBKings to dance and rejoice in Steel Pulse classic reggae syncopated drum and base lines, and lead singer David Hinds' pitch-perfect voice. They all had a good time with 3 or 4 (I stopped counting) encores. What totally pissed me off were the crowd seated (or so they should have) at the BBKing's higher level tables (reserved for dining and drinking, not just drinking at the bar). These people came for reasons unknown to me. Who cares about your internet search for a sushi restaurant, Mr. Loud at the next table, while David Hinds graced us with a solo acoustic guitar version of Bob Marley's JAH Live? Why the constant jumping up from the table in front of me to greet your friends and thus not being aware you are blocking my view? The audiences have changed. Where as I am used to go to Reggae concerts for the music, to listen, dance and participate in the cultural exchange of Jamaica, Reggae, Roots and Culture, nowadays I see more and more Spring Breakers coming to Reggae shows to be entertained by themselves and their friends, to get drunk and become unruly and loud and disrespectful of others, who paid equal money to listen to the music and not to listen to themselves.

We used to watch Steel Pulse back in the day. They come from the same home town as I do. Pity it was nowhere near as lively as back then. No passion. I took my nieces and daugther to a reggae concert for the first time. They are iration fans. We enjoyed the atmosphere and awesome show that both bands put on. I would love to see another concert at this location. Most reggae concerts I attend are not seated so it was a little different.

First time going to The Pacific Amphitheatre and it was a great first time experience. Beer was cold, food was delicious, and more importantly no DRAMA! The people were friendly and the workers were very helpful. Overall a great show, great venue and great performances.
