There is something to be said about still enjoying a show after it starts off kind of awkwardly with an overzealous smoke and wind machine and an intro track that doesn't present the artist very well. Sure, the crowd was buzzing with energy and completely psyched to see Ms. Goldfrapp strut her British stuff across the stage (as she did very well). However, one aspect threw me off the entire time - the sound. I don't know if it were the venue, the sound guy or what. However, everything was off balance. Not enough drums (the ultimate backbone of electronic dance music!), too much synth and of course the lead who we all came to see sounded like she had a mitten over her microphone. And all of it was too loud. This lasted the entire time and sounded just as horrible from each end of the venue. However, Goldfrapp kicked tail. The band was pretty badass and I don't think she hit more than 5 sour notes the entire night!

Alison has never sounded better, had better stage presence, or connected with her audience more. However, production values were beyond embarrassing. Visually the show (set and lighting) were pretty amateur and nowhere near the calibre an artist like Goldfrapp deserves, and nowhere near what other performers at her level are touring with. I can only hope they get it together as the tour progresses.

Besides a few technical difficulties with the microphone. Allison did not disappoint. She gave us her old hits and her new specialtied. Decked out in a glowing dress, "Black Cherry" never sound more sweet. Goldfrapp, yeah I'm a stay with you til the end.

The concert was amazing. Goldfrapp did not disappoint. Allison's voice was at times gravelly, feathery, or clear. The woman knows how to work her voice, it was a pleasure seeing her totally possessed by the music. It was my first time seeing them, so I opted to stand as close to the stage as possible, but next time around I'm standing where the acoustics are better. I regret that I was so excited to see them I didn't stand back a bit so I could hear the lyrics clearly. That being said: the band was amazing, the costumes were something out of an 80's/Disco hallucination. The band handled a very small stage malfunction totally professionally, with good humor (at least from what I saw.) These people are professionals: don't expect Allison to wildly dance, she's busy singing not lip-syncing. My only regret is that they didn't play Satin Chic... :(

Alison was PERFECT! Her voice was the best I've ever heard it, and the rest of the band was totally on point, even in the middle of Train when the tunnel deflated temporarily. The opening act was a bit too long for my taste, although I don't have much of a taste for monotonous rave/trance music so I'm just biased.

Goldfrapp played a fairly long set. Lots of songs. It was quite good, I'm just not sure that I like the direction that Goldfrapp has gone with the latest album. Little too "Disco". I like the older stuff a lot more than the new Lady Gaga (only with TALENT) styled stuff.

i was so glad I decided to go to this show. Alison's is projecting better on stage than ever and the sound was much stronger than in previous shows, though I've always been very impressed. They've just taken it up a notch perhaps for larger venues as their fanbase continues to grow. Rocket, Train, Ooh-la-la, Utopia, Strict Machine, Black Cherry, A&E, etc. Who else can present such a varied ouevre as convincingly as Goldfrapp? I'd really like to know.

The show last night was amazing. More so having attended her first tour and each subsequent show since then. While Alison has demonstrated a lot of range on her releases, live, focusing on the electronic pop side of their repertoire kept people on their feet and engaged throughout.

Ok, concert was great...I love Goldfrapp. Performances were excellent and song choices were good. They of course focused heavily on the material from the new album, performing every song from the new album except for Hunt, and Voicething (though Voicething was used as the intro music coming onto stage). Gripes were few - the opening act, a DJ was excellent, but it was 60 minutes and got somewhat monotonous by halfway through...no one really seemed into it after that, it was just too long. I think it didn't help that DJs are not visually exciting and there were no lighting/stage effects for him. I wish Goldfrapp had done a little more from the Felt Mountain era, they only did one song, Utopia, from it. Overall I would say the set was very dance heavy and it was clear they were avoiding some of their softer/introspective works. But that's not really a complaint, just an observation. Oh funny thing at about the mid point in their set the backdrop on their stage (an inflated silver spaceship-meets-donut) started to deflate and collapse. They played right through and the stagehands scrambled and got it fixed. Oh yeah, this has nothing to do with the concert per-se, but OMG - apparently if you want to eat dinner in downtown Oakland, you are stuck with Korean food...eating venues were very sparse within a 10 block radius and to be honest the few that were even open did not look appetizing at all, quite dirty and uncared for. OK, in closing, I can't wait to see them again, they are fantastic!

I left after 5-6 songs. I like her Seventh Tree album, but I felt that there was too much programmed music for a live show. It felt like the band pressed play and they were playing along to layered tracks. Not an exciting experience and zero spontaneity. Boring musicianship... The lighting was not particularly original...

Goldfrapp gave us the best of the best, playing straight danceable hits from start to finish. They saved two ballads for the encore, before hitting us with two final floor fillers (Rocket and Strict Machine). Honestly the ballads were redundant because her voice humanizes even the most computerized beats. Alison's powerhouse siren call held its own against even the loudest, highest pitch synthesizers (Train). Not the most elaborate light show, but the stark strobe action made it feel like a massive underground party. Plus Alison had some cute giggly asides that showed us her personality. An all-around ideal concert!

I will have to say, this venue does not have the best sound... It's not as strong and clear as I would have expected, however... I was in the front, so I may have had a skewed perspective. The performance itself, was incredible. Alison works her ass off. This group is so talented, Will and Alison, and the tour band. So theatrical. Really an outstanding show. Worth every penny. I wish this band would get more exposure, recognition, and respect.

I have seen Goldfrapp 6 times now, and never been dissappointed. Alison knows how to command the stage, without saying much at all. She did a varied catalog of songs from all albums, but of course focused on Headfirst. Her outfits were gorgeous, without being too over-the -top. I will take Goldfrapp over Gaga any day!.

Goldfrapp puts on a good show. There isn't much in the way of audience communication, but that's really not what the crowd is there for. The fans are there for the sultry voice, the off-the-wall fashion and the rockin dance tunes by the techno chanteuse, Miss Alison Goldfrapp. And she delivers. It seems like she had a bit of problem with her in-ear monitor, especially in the first encore, but ultimately the sound was good and my friends and I were all impressed with the whole act. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing surprising, however--the orchestrations are basically the same as the albums. If you're expecting Lady Gaga, you're out of luck, but for what it was, it was a great night hearing great music. That said, the opening act was terrible.

The set list included all of Goldfrapp's hits, arranged in way consistent with their most recent album "Alive." However, Alison Goldfrapp's vocals were barely audible at times. The sound mix was pretty bad, actually. At times, the sound was just a blaring blast of noise that hurt. It's been 12 hours and my ears are ringing. I think they should have invested some money on a sound engineer working there with them.

A pretty good opening act. They knew everyone was there to see Goldfrapp (Including them, so nobody felt bad). Goldfrapp was simply amazing. They kept us excited during the show, including 2 encores, although they may have been because of her 4 costume changes (Cool costumes by the way). They played for an hour and half but you could tell that everyone wanted more. So it was definitely worth the money. As for the venue, the sound was mediocre. I would have given the show one less star for that, but I wouldn't do that to Goldfrapp. :)

I went to the Beacon Theatre in N.Y.C. for the only American show by this group. I had never seen them perform live before; so, I had no expectations from them other than what I had seen in videos online. The beautiful music that was created in the theatre that night was magical. Pure and simple. I see an average of a dozen or more shows every year and I must say without doubt; that was one of the best shows I have seen in years. Allison Goldfrapp and the Wordless Orchestra are worth the price of the ticket....go see her/them if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Allison for a wonderful night!

our 3rd time seeing goldfrapp live. alison was in great voice, but it was just ok. the new story songs are alright, but the music is not very engaging, even with the live addition of the orchestra. the live versions of the new album were somewhat better than the studio versions tho, but not markedly so. later in the show, the rearrangements of the older songs, done to fit the more orchestral mood, were more interesting. all in all one wishes alison would just do a standards/songbook album and tour, get it out of her system and get back to poppier and more lively material.

This venue is amazing! Before I purchased tickets, I looked up info on the venue itself, since it's not at a huge amphitheater that's restructured depending on the event. I found that the Loge is the best place for this type of music (I had seen she'd be accompanied by an orchestra). I am so glad I made this decision - my seat ended up being the 2nd row back from the railing and dead center. The songs, ALL off them, felt like i was in a dreamlike state, surrounded by her voice. I can say this for only a handful of artists/singers I've seen live - she is much better in real life. She showed that she also has a bit of dry/dirty sense of humor, at times explaining the meaning of some of the newer songs and joking about how only in England would some of this stuff happen. The show itself was separated into two acts - the first one covering almost the entirety of the newest album and the 2nd (framed as an encore, so that there was no true encore of 2-3 songs) was older songs. I was a slight bit disappointed that her faster tempo'd stuff wasn't performed BUT I guess I can understand, given the classiness of the place and the acoustics probably would have deafened me (some of the instrumental pieces were very loud in the Loge, a couple of times bordering on slightly painful). All in all, A++++ and I would see her anywhere, at (almost) any price.

I flew up to DC to see Goldfrapp's concert, and it was a lovely time. Perhaps it was that I was up front, but I found the opening act, "Cults", to be really charming. The female vocalist was cute and the band was very cordial. This sweetness worked well with their music. When Allison and the band came on stage, the entire room was filled with colorful lights, silver props, and a great energy. She adeptly mixed fan favorites and new material so that the audience was engaged the entire time. Her costumes were great, and they didn't impede her ability to sing and dance along to her music. I loved her band; they were smiling and I got the impression that they were all very glad to be there.

Waited years to see Goldfrapp, missed the last two tours, sold out before I could get the heads up she was back in town. I still regret not catching the Supernature tour when Alison and crew were all glamed up. And even more regret for missing the tour supporting the underrated and phenomenal Seventh Tree album. But Alison in fine form, is Alison is fine form. With a backing band and recorded effects, Alison and crew put out song after song of pure Goldfrapp bliss. She loves her music, she loves her fans, and she loves performing them....and that is more than what most live fans get these days. Though Head First might not be the stand out in the Goldfrapp catalogue, seeing her live and feeling the songs at full throttle made me create a stronger connection to Goldrapp's last outing. In truth, after hearing a large selection of the Head First album performed live, I would recommend all to turn up the volume, turn up the bass, and re-visit what Alison and Gregory are offering in 2010. And if you get the chance - GO SEE GOLDFRAPP!

The Electronic duo known as Goldfrapp rocked the house at the Hammerstein Ballroom! I was lucky enough to be in the middle of the first row and met a great group of fellow Goldfrappers (that's how we fans refer to one another). At several times throughout the evening, it seemed as if Alison was looking directly at me. It was obvious that not only were the band engaged with the audience, but they made eye contact with many of us in the crowd. Speaking of the crowd, they were also really into it! It was an amazing feeling to sing along with Goldfrapp with a whole chorus of people behind me singing as well! Overall, the concert was phenomenal and I still get goosebumps when I think back to that evening!

Second time I have seen Goldfrapp and really enjoyed the concert; much more electronic than the last tour; plenty of toe tapping! And while I love the Fox I am starting to wonder about the acoustics. I guess I have seen 15-20 bands there and anything remotely loud tends to sound muffled; the Goldfrapp sound was OK, but not great and the vocals and conversation between songs was very difficult to make out. Given how great her voice is. this is a crying shame. Last time she was here she played the Warfiled and despite the cold she told us she was suffering from, her vocals were much clearer

This wasn't the best Goldfrapp show. Didn't seem like they were really feeling the songs - more just like hitting up another spot on their tour. I will say that I wasn't the biggest fan of the most recent album so that may be in part why it wasn't very enjoyable for me. Will try to see Goldfrapp again though next time she is in town.

Alison opened up with Crystaline Green much to my delight. She did a lot of old stuff as you can see below from the setlist which I prefer. They all seemed to having a good time and Alison's voice was in top form ....she looked beautiful as well. For not having a whole lot of stage props like some groups, the lighting was powerful and and fog added to the intensity in her music. Love her ... recommend her any day!
