I have seen Alvin Ailey on PBS, VHS, and youtube, but this was my first time seeing them live. I enjoyed every second of it. I have been thinking about coming to the NJPAC to see AAADC since 2004. I finally made it and it was well worth the wait. Great show in a great venue.

This production was horrible and not worth the money spent. Too many intermissions and when I say it was bland I am using that mildly. Also, I feel that parents should think twice about bringing small children to this show as it seems to be sexually oriented. Some scenes seem to give you a aha moment, not all scenes but some are a tad bit explicit.

Having been our first performance to attend we were awe struck and excited by the level of activity both on and off the stage. The attendees were in age male 15, female 16 and adult 53. It was as though we watched a live performance at home on a 50 inch LED screen Television. Each performer was quite exquisite in their delivery of rythym, smoothness, flow and delivery of their art of ballet/dance. The acoustics was just incredible. There were no bad seats unless you sat next to someone who had the bad timing or gift of wrongful gab during this wonderful performance. RATING 5 stars

This year I saw new dance pieces that I had never seen before as well as new dancers. Since I have seen Alvin Ailey at least 10 times I feel as though the dancers are family. I have a poster of Linda Celeste Sims in my office at work. When asked who she is I tell people you need to go see Alvin Ailey to check her out!!!!

I have heard about Alvin Ailey and have never had the opportunity to attend any of his performances until May 18, 2011. I will never forget it. It was everything I imagined it to be. Exciting, amazing, beautiful, breathtaking and so much more. I'm always amazed how a dancer can move their body so elegantly and graciously. I loved it and look forward to next years performance.

We have been attending Ailey for 15 years. The company was filled with dancers who were strong and expressed emotion. Many times they brought me to tears either from sadness or joy. Not this year. The company was flat. Sadly to say, even during Revelations. I was terribly disappointed

Every year the show came to town, I already had plans. I was finally able to see the show this year. I was very sad that I had missed years of an AMAZING performance! I am excited now because I plan to see it every year moving forward. The cast was energetic and engaging, never a dull moment. I don't have the words to describe the movements. See the show and be prepared to be inspired.

The dancers demand a very hot venue. If you don't mind sweating and difficulty breathing, then go. Otherwise you will suffer and not be able to enjoy the performance.

Every dance was a pleasure to watch. The solo performance was breathtaking. Revelations was pared down but just as I remembered it. At the end we gave them a standing ovation and they did an encore performance. Fabulous!

Very dissatisfied with the performance. Spent over $200 I have seen this dance company before, loved them. This cast was so boring, just going through the motions. No energy coming from the stage. So disappointed. My husband was excited because he had never been and had always wanted to go to an Ailey show. But, he said he saw them twice, his first and his last. He was very disappointed as well.

We go annually, would not miss Ailey. Revelations is like a spiritual experience but all of the dances have been Wonderful over the last couple of years. This venue is not my favorite. It is beautiful but huge and the seating is tight but it doesn t matter where you Are for this performance. Today has the last two performances of this year. Get to one of them!

The venue was the ideal location. The performances were breathtaking! I enjoyed how the show was spiced up that I think catered to the millennials. The second part of the show was "Revelation" which was old school. It is an event for all to enjoy the arts. Will be looking forward to going again whenever it returns to Chrysler Hall.

The visuals truly unbelievable. The lighting was so great it had a four-dimensional effect on the dancers. The only regret I had was that I did not bring my four year old daughter. The next time they come to Chicago my whole family will be there.

My husband and I really enjoyed it. The only thing I would suggest is that there were more dancers for the other shows so that we would not had to wait for them to change their wardrobe/attire. And a little more variety. They are very talented and they were great!!

My family and I saw an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater show for the first time on 2/18/12. It was absolutely beautiful! The dancers are amazing, the choreography was perfect, the music selection was great, and you could feel the spirit of Alvin Ailey. I loved ALL of the pieces, but Home and Revelations were my favorite. The dancers are so in tune with each other and have so much energy. They are so skilled and dedicated to their craft that it looks easy for them. Revelations moved me to tears...it really touched my soul. <3 I bought a hat, shirt, and got a free bag; I can't wait to wear them! I thank you for this wonderful cultural experience, and I will definitely go to another Alvin Ailey show when they come back to Atlanta. :)

I have been going to Ailey performances since I was 10 years old and I am now 58. The show never gets old. It was a pleasure to view and I love the company just as much as when I first when to see them. Alvin Ailey was truly a visionary in terms of providing a historical outlet. He tells and shares the story of the black experience through dance. Outstanding!!

The seats that we had we not bad but certainly not the greatest. We had people in front of us the were moving around the whole time so we were ducking or heads in and out of spaces to see and we were in the last row. I will make sure to be in the first row the next time.

We went to the Mother's Day Performance which was a packed house. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire performance. It was superb, sublime and transportive. Even my husband said that the next time they come around he wants to go to "all" of the shows-not just one! I was looking forward to seeing the Alvin Ailey dance company again-----it had been many years since I last saw it. The first two numbers were a huge disappointment, based on popular music with dancers strutting back and forth across the stage and such. Also, there were two very long intermissions-----one was enough. However, I thoroughly enjoyed "Mass," "Ella," and of course "Revelations."

My mom and i used to go see the Alvin Ailey show every other year but haven't been in a few years since the prices went up. My aunt passed about 2 months ago and i knew going back to see Alvin Ailey would lift my mom's spirits and it did! The performances were amazing as always and REVELATIONS is still my favorite piece! The show was amazing and the pieces were thought provoking. The dancers are so talented and of course I enjoyed the classic Revelation !

This is my 4th AA performance. I normally see them in NYC so I was very excited to see them close to home. The performances are always captivating and moving. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the venue was extremely warm on the middle level.

The show was the quality I expected, no disappointment. Of course, dance has the advantage of selecting how to express a subject threw the eyes of rhythm and technique. The only drawback from this performance or any is the audience that talks during the performance,.

I really enjoyed the Friday night show. When I discovered that the show differed a little each night, I was so sorry that I had not purchased tickets for all three nights. The performances were wonderful. Me and my friends had a great time. Hope that this event makes an annual appearance here in Norfolk

The show was a spectacle to behold in person! However, BJCC might want to to change their door policy for such events. For events such as this where you are locked out of the hall once the performance starts...1 hour to get through security and to your seat is not enough. Folks were running trying to get in place which could have caused a disaster in itself. This was a show not to be missed so yes folks were running

I had heard of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for years and I was thrilled to find out they were coming to Memphis. I have been to several performances at The Orpheum through the years and I can honestly say that this performance was one of the absolute best I have ever seen. The dancers were beautiful; the technique the power, the grace, the fluidity all just amazing. The quality of the production and the music was great. The pieces were intriguing and covered a range of emotions and styles by a variety of choreographers. The trio of pieces comprising Pilgrim of Sorrow choreographed by Alvin Ailey in 1960 left me in awe. I'd see the company again in a heartbeat.

This was my first time seeing this dance production in person but i ve seen it on So You Think You Can Dance and really enjoyed. I just wish it had that wow moment like I seen on TV. I loved it but wanted something more.
