Sasquatch! Festival

SASQUATCH! FESTIVAL:Sasquatch! Music Festival is living up to its name in 2014, bringing the Pacific Northwest not one, but two massive holiday weekends of top-notch performances. Just as the announcement of the Labor Day lineup featuring Outkast and The National had fans feeling dizzy, the Fourth of July weekend bill topped by Soundgarden and Kraftwerk came and knocked them on their asses. Not to worry, the daze will certainly wear off in time for fans to enjoy the festival's pristine river gorge location, state-of-the-art light and sound technology, and five stages of world-class music.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Created in 2002 by Adam Zacks as a way to cater to audiences' increasingly eclectic music tastes, Sasquatch! Festival has grown to become one of the Pacific Northwest's premier summer music festivals.

Didn't find out bout the shuttles in Premier camping till the end, campground is pretty uneven with lots of snake holes. Did feel safe bout leaving van unattended, minus car alarms going off at night. The crowd was pretty hyped and fully torqued with plenty of substances in their systems, never seen such excited people for stoner music, maybe it was the drugs? Saw too many naked drunk dudes and heard too many trashy drunk gurl screams. Worth attending this year, but prolly my last, people talk during the sets and most bands sound shitty... Just an excuse to do drugs in the Gorge, which isn't my scene. Hard to get lost in the music with meth'd up college kids smashing beers over their own heads... I was there once and thankfully survived the self abuse!

The Sasquatch! Music festival is our annual vacation. The people that you meet will become lifetime concert going friends. The line up this year was perfection. The gorge is an beautiful backdrop for your favorite artists. I always feel like the bands have so much more energy at the gorge. They are so pumped to play it makes for some really one of the kind shows. There were a few mix ups this year, stage changes and late starts. The one thing tht drives me crazy about this festival is how messy the concert goers are. People throw their trash everywhere. The staff provide plenty of trash cans and people just don't care the campsites get trashed and people live in it for 6 days!! It's downright disgusting. I would recommend this festival to people with open minds ( because you WILL see everything under the sun ) also people who enjoy camping, drinking games and amazing music. People who will clean up after themselves. PLEASE IF YOU DECIDE TO COME TO THIS FESTIVAL DON'T LITTER - trash cans are provided but bring bags for personal trash and cans. You will love this festival. It is like Disneyland for adults!

When we first arrived we were bummed that camping was full and we were put into a different field. However the field ended up closer to the venue and we camped next to a wonderful group of helpful strangers. The crowd was great, it seemed like a lot of mellow people who were down to meet each other and be spontaneous! The lineup was incredible with music from all sorts of genres (folk, indie, techno, etc.). The location is INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL, jaw-dropping gorgeous. A beautiful weekend. Pretty annoying they don't allow ins and outs between camping and the show though.

I attended Sasquatch for my first time this year and it was an awesome experience, even though it seemed like the way festival goers were treated was unfair. This year security introduced a no re-entry rule. This forced people who wanted to see an early act to not be able to return to their camp site for a break. Prices for beverages, food, and necessities were outrageous which seemed really unnecessary after paying 300 bucks for a ticket. But what you go there for is the music and every minute of it was awesome.

Attended Sasquatch at The Gorge and the music was awesome. Great bands, great views! I was VERY disappointed in the management of the show in general though. Even with wristbands and camping, there were no in and out privileges, so once you entered the show, there was no going back to your campsite/car for warmer clothes, umbrellas, etc. Also, the waits to enter the venue were as long as an hour. There was no surprise that the mid-afternoon times were going to be the busiest because the headliners were coming up. But they still had insufficient staff for processing the long lines.

Be ready for a sleepless non-stop music extravaganza. In the gorge all day and thumping beats camping all night. You just have to get over the weird staff behavior and bask in the glory of everything Sasquatch. The Gorge, the music, the happy festival goers. If you dwell on the barking security, mean vendors with odd rules and preponderance of clueless staff you'll lose out on the overall fabulousness of 4 days groovin to an astounding array of musicians. This years shining stars: Reggie Watts, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Chromeo, Rodrigo y Gabriella, Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Black Joe Lewis and the Honey Bears and Flogging Molly.

This was my first time to Sasquatch. I really didn't know what to expect. I have to say that while it was very cold at night, it was still a blast. The festival was very well organized and the port-a-potties were the best kept I've ever seen. I did the 4 day camping pass, and I would do it again. The camp was very noisy at all hours, but after partying all day, it was easy to pass out and sleep. The main events were great. I loved the selection of music, just wish some groups had been headliners, or preformed longer. Having 4 stages is nice, but you end up missing out on tons of bands that you want to see.

The lineup was incredible, there were different vibes for every type of lisener. Chill out on the lawn and listen to some melodic acoustic tunes, or head over to the banana shack to get your dance on to some great dj's.

This was my fifth year back at Sasquatch music Festival. Everyday just kept getting better and better. There were so many good bands this year that I was running around all over the place to try and see them all. The issues that i had with this year is there wasn't enough potable water stations around the venue or the campground. Another issue I saw a lot of people have was with the wristbands that we were supposed to wear for 4 days of a music festival kept breaking off and getting lost. and if they broke or fell off during that time we could not get back into the venue. Not to mention it's really inconvenient to have to wear a wristband for 4 days straight. I would challenge anyone to try and keep a cheap plastic wristband on through a foo fighters or flogging molly mosh pit, or a MSTRKRFT dance fest. The stage set up this year was really good too! especially the Banana Shack with the red bull tent right behind it!. Once again there was an issue with the sound at the late night show on the Big Foot stage during RATATAT which was really disappointing and caused alot of people to walk out.

Good security. With more people attending then years past, the venue put in fewer bathrooms and only one water station. It was warm weather and ridiculous to have to wait 15-30 minutes each time you needed water. Good bands. It would have been nice if the festival would have celebrated the 10 year anniversary. The cake on the stage wasn't much.

The venue was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Great line up! Always someone amazing playing, however missed some great shows because of issues with the line to get in. Seemed unorganized and wasn't until the last day they got the groove of getting people in quickly and efficiently. Foster the People should have been on main stage, they underestimated their fan basis. Camping was great, overall great experience!

the music was great, the sound was great at all stages! It was a good groove, and the weather held out! And fun was had by one and all! what was not great was the fact that the lines to enter the venue each day were sooooo looong! And once bags were searched, an individual at the next gate had to enter each bracelet number - tappety tap tap - on a handheld device - isn't the point of having a barcode that it enables the number to be scanned (you know, like a sack of potatoes or a gallon of milk?) ? And spending a 12 hour day without having the benefit of returning to camp to change clothes or grab a (more healthy, tasty and reasonably priced) bite of food? I already paid a handsome price for music/parking/camping - this should be an option.

Waiting in an unorganized line for over an hour to enter the venue can be amusing but is also frustrating. I missed early acts that I wanted to hear because of the inefficiency. Security was like a marmot with three heads all going in opposite directions.

Pretty cool event overall but you can definitely tell it's put on by a large corporation instead of people that are really passionate about the event. I am not sure of all the rules and regulations governing such events but it seems that there could be some things changed: - why do all parties need to be shut down at 2am? Can't you organise a section of the venue where people can party later? There are plenty of festivals that have events or allow parties that go much later. - the food is BRUTAL! Seriously, that's wrong that you'd do that to people. While so many festivals have gone the way of foodie style vendors you guys went the cafeteria way. Shameful. - line-up was pretty good but didn't blow my mind. I think that more effort needs to be taken into figuring out what bands will actually sound/perform good on the large stage instead of just who is the biggest name. - camping set-up is alright. The showers are awesome. That's definitely nice.

Sasquatch was unreal. my party drove from california and we were blown away by how many canadians that surrounded us. lets just say they know how to party. The campsites were great - there was no problem fitting everyone into our space. we got there early so we got to choose first, by the end of the day all the prime spots were taken. the music was unbelievable. getting to the front of the main stage wasn't any trouble at all - nothing more difficult than to other concerts ive been to. i was at the very front of modest mouse with only a small amount of hardcore pushing during the first few songs. once the weaklings were filtered through, there was enough room for me to dance. there isn't a bad seat in the whole amphitheater. the only thing i wish for was a bigger venue for the dubstep groups such as bassnectar and skrillex. slieghbells ruled the night - wish i had more room to dance with them. overall, it was great, and ill be there next year.

This was my first time at sasquatch, and I definitely plan on returning again. The line up was excellent for both the mainstage and the other three stages, and the people are friendly and helpful. It's really a great experience. I felt very safe and like my things were secure, though I may have just gotten lucky with my campsite. My only complaints are administrative--most bathroom stations ran out of soap on the second day and most weren't refilled, they should certainly distribute a map of the campsite (people were consistently wandering around lost), and they didn't bring out fences that made getting into the venue faster until the last day. Overall though, it's well put together and very fun.

I thought the festival overall was excellent. However, the one major issue i had with the concert was that there were not enough showers in Premiere Camping. We are paying a pretty hefty price to not be able to shower. Lines were up to 2 hours long sometimes. Also, we got there early so we can get a nice spot towards the front. We ended up in the back towards the regular camping. We bought premiere and got there early so we didn't have to be so close to regular camping and the noise. I think you should first occupy the premiere camp spots at the front so the people that get there early are not penalized.

This lineup was amazing, the camping rocked, there were almost no lines, and the porta-potties were cleaner than I've ever seen them. I literally tipped one of the guys cleaning them - I was that stunned. It was an awesome mix of new and older music, electronic, and comedy. There was honestly something for everyone and I found myself using the supper accessible SASQUATCH! app to schedule my time around the venue all weekend long. The only :( was the rising $$$ rate of the beers and the poorly designed posters.

First of the weather couldn't have been any better, but that is not something that can be planned. Happy that festival was only 3 days. 4 days was too many. That being said with one less day why was the price still the same if not more? The festival's acts were definitely not worth the price in past years. Seems like they had trouble getting bigger headliners. Also limiting how many people could be on a camping pass was also pretty lame. Hard to say if I will go back next year. I was somewhat disappointed this year.

The weather was perfect, the bands were great and campgrounds were spacious. The only problem and for the second year in a row was audio on the Bigfoot stage. Also happened at the chupacabra tent and main stage for kid cudi. The music was much louder than the vocal and you couldn't hear anything. I paid a lot of money to attend and I would expect everything to be working or it being able to be fixed especially since this was an issue last year as well. Overall the festival was enjoyable.

Sasquatch was pretty lacking and watered-down this year. I think it was a horrible idea to expand the festival to 2 weekends. The worst part is that Memorial Day weekend was shortened to 3 days but still the same price!! Ridiculous!! Because of this, I believe that the selection of bands this year was not as good as years previous.

2013 was my first year to Sasquatch, and man will I be coming again. The camping is so laid back and the people are very friendly. The one drawback is the distance to walk to the venue, but it isn't the worst and is definitely worth it. The venue is rather small and the stages are pretty close to one another, sometimes you could hear the music from the other stages. But, the setting, people, music, and views are unforgettable. I still have flashbacks to sets and how much fun I had. Greatest music festival experience and I can't wait for next year. It's something you can't beat.

Loved it! Been waiting for years to hear the Postal Service live! Piece of advice - get a sponsor to offer a phone charging station! Those of us who tent-it (majority of the the folks) don't have easy access to phone chargers. I saw many people using the outlets for the lighting in the trees to charge phones.

I'm glad I went to Sasquatch music fest. I am older (42) and appreciated the private areas and thought that this was money well spent. However, when told that there would be refreshment I didn't think it just be fried chicken and fries, and beer. For my money I expected something a little more - a veggie and fruit tray, a deli tray for simple sandwiches, simple dips and the like. For next year, I would recommend investing a little more on the amenities for the VIP sections, namely: - better food (it doesn't have to be complicated, but for the cost of the ticket it should look better than the leftover school lunch line) - Fresh coffee and hot water for tea (I do not drink alcohol and could not recoup my cost in booze, as some others did, but like any other good Washingtonian I'm a fool for good coffee.) I did like the no-waiting in line for the bathroom, the separate space from 30,000 drunk twenty-year-olds, and the chairs for when my tired feet needed a break. I plan on buying another VIP ticket next year if the accommodations are improved, and I plan on bringing friends with me. Please make these small improvements! Talking with others who held these tickets, a great many of them felt the same. That said, I look very much forward to attending Sasquatch again, as well as other venues at the Gorge.

There were so many amazing bands spread out over 4 days. I had a great time and saw a lot of good acts. I was REALLY disappointed I could not see Alt-J, Lumineers and The Postal Service because they were scheduled so late on Monday. If I wanted to see them, I had to take a full day off on Tuesday. Please be considerate to your working audience and consider scheduling big acts earlier on a holiday Monday.

Despite a certain lack of cooperation from the weather, the mix of bands and mild desert air was phenomenal. While the headliner wasn't nearly as big as last year, it was wonderful to see how much some of last year's side stage acts have grown (I'm looking at you, Macklemore, but there were others). Aside from the music, the bathrooms are surprisingly clean, the food vendors at the campsite definitely palatable, and the fellow concertgoers as friendly and fun seeking as my own posse. See you next year!

Really enjoyed the music but there were a lot of issues with the venue. - the quality in camping varied widely, some people got great sites while others were packed in tight and really far away from the venue. Not fair at all. - The noise from the other stages esp. the club tent would leak into the mainstage area, ruining acoustic acts like Mumford and Sons, Tallest Man on Earth and The Lumineers. - The secondary stages were behind schedule and the sound quality was very poor. I felt bad for the amazing bands like Vampire weekend, Alt-J, and The Dirty Projectors who had their sound cut out on them or had mediocre sound levels. - Overall the event didn't have to be 4 days. It's gotten to big and crazy.

Sasquatch is the best weekend of the year, and this year exceeded my high expectations. I really enjoyed the headliners! Macklemore and postal service being from seattle were so grateful to be there and made the performance that much better. Also loved mumford and sons! It was so great that he changed instruments for each song. Wrist bands were convenient, even though it was a long walk the camping was pretty good. Maybe more showers? One of those facilities per camp area just wasn't enough. I arrived at the showers at 8am on Saturday and waited for a half hour and wasn't even halfway through the line. I really enjoyed the music selection, good rap/hip hop artists, maybe reggae bands next year too?

Everyone should experience the festival and adventure that is Sasquatch. By the end of the weekend the 20,000+ fans slowly, and surprisingly become a family. Very chill event. Never felt threatened or unsafe during the entire festival, which allows you to fully enjoy the music and bands. 2013 was a GREAT lineup. All the headliners KILLED it. And there were even better performances on the smaller stages. All and all a VERY pleasant weekend. Wish I could do it again! Things I learned at Sasquatch: -As an American...you are a minority. Canadians TAKE OVER. -Security does not know how to handle the entrance lines. By day 3, it took at times an HOUR to get in. -The amount of people I saw puking and peeing on each other by day 4 was not only surprising, but alarming. Prepare yourself. -Bring every type of clothing, for every type of weather. It gets COLD at night, and the weather changes fast throughout the day. -Bring a costume....but really. You think I am kidding? Sasquatch = Halloween. -Prepare yourself for an AWESOME weekend.

Bottom line, this festival has sold out. This is my third time going and yes I had a great time, especially on Monday when the rain finally drove about 30% of the people OUT! Sasquatch is trying to maximize its profits by allowing the maximum amount of people into the festival this means ass to elbow room at every show, even the smaller ones. It never used to be this way. That being said, I really had a good time and saw some of the shows of my life, vampire weekend, the postal service, sigur ros, amazing lineup. Also FIX THE DANG HONDA STAGE. Why can these people not get that stage's sound to work properly? I saw some of the best shows of my life there, but every show I saw there (every year) had terrible sound problems. They ruined a guitar solo at vampire weekend, and I have a sinking suspicion that the dude from Empire of the Sun smashed his guitar at the end of the show because of sound problems, it was actually pretty cool.

This was my 4th year attending Sasquatch, and the music and bands did not disappoint. A great line-up was planned by the festival organizers, including Alt-J, Mumford and Sons, Imagine Dragons, Holy Ghost! and Grimes. All amazing. Two big downfalls this year were that none of the music started on-time and that the Bigfoot stage had horrible sound problems. Sound at the Bigfoot stage: at the Grimes show, if you weren't standing directly in front of the stage, you couldn't hear anything. It was like she was miming into the microphone while a bunch of bass played. And that was only if the sound was even working. For some shows, the sound would just cut out or fail, which made people leave. I felt bad for the artists, but after the 5th or 6th time this happened, you just felt bad for yourself for paying so much money. Starting on-time: some of the shows were up to 2 hours late. On Sunday, we waited for Tame Impala to come on at 10pm, but they showed up at almost midnight. I'm not sure if it was band drama or the sound, but this made all the other shows after them late too, so we got out of there at 2am. Not a big deal to stay up late at a festival, except for the fact that all the vendors close early, so we couldn't get any water afterward. Before the Imagine Dragons show, Azealia Banks was supposed to be on but inadvertently cancelled. No announcement was made so we could go enjoy another show at another stage - we just waited, not sure what was going on. So other than more than 70% of the shows starting late and the sound problems, the festival itself is amazing. The crowd is diverse and not full of hipsters, security doesn't have a chip on its shoulder, you can have naps on the hill anytime you want, you can see the band from anywhere you stand, and the views and music are epic. I'm disappointed that they let the ball drop on the sound and timing, but every year they keep it fresh so I would go back next year for sure!

My first time ever at the gorge or at a music festival. It exceeded all my expectations. I hadn't heard of most of the bands but every single one I saw put on a great show, including, Macklemore, The Lumineers, Imagine dragons, capital cities, empire of the sun, and the postal service. The camping was great, the staff was friendly, and the people attending were awesome.

Happies - loved the variety of music. SO many good bands. The End acoustic sets were great and they served cheap(er) drinks in The End tent. Being able to bring food and water in from outside was awesome. The walk to and from the campsite wasn't too bad. The t-shirts (merchandise) were fairly priced. Honey buckets were CLEANED daily in concert and camping. Water, soap and paper towels for hand washing! Camping was pretty quiet. Not too many people around our tent partying all night. Food (pizza, noodle bowls) sold in camping area for late night munchies.. Nice people working gates/food/vending. Frowns - People working in general parking/camping lots were not very helpful. When we arrived nobody was around to direct us and we just parked and set up our tent in a spot we kind of created and squeezed into (ended up being a great spot). The Honda stage sound was screwed up a bunch of times. People waited hours for their mobile shower. The tall can beers are still expensive and awkward to carry around. It would of been nice to have a few places hand out/sell rain ponchos out when needed. Alt-j and Lumineers on separate stages at the same time - lame. Steve Aoki and Rusko should of played Sunday night so people with jobs could stay and play.

I have been attending Sasquatch Music Festival for 2 years now, and have every intention of going back every single year. This festival is an absolute blast. Not only do you get to enjoy thousands of great artists, you meet so many fascinating people and make so many new friends in this euphoric atmosphere. I got to see many of my favorite bands, and discover tons of new artists that I'd never heard of before. I highly recommend this festival to anyone and everyone and can't wait to go back next year for Sasquatch 2012! Happy 10th Birthday Sasquatch!

The festival was amazing, from camping to dancing! If you don't have friends when you arrive, you will leave with more then you can remember. The festival is very organized and the bands were amazing this year! I came in knowing about half and came out wanting to know every one of them. I will take my Sasquatch festival experience with me for the rest of my life!

The staff made a real effort to ensure that guests were having fun. There was a nice blend of types of music and musicians at different points in their careers. Most of the musicians seemed to be enjoying themselves, and did a good job engaging with the audience. Enjoyed the convenience of Gold camping. The community partners were great, as was Easy Street Records. There was some crossover noise between stages, that will hopefully be addressed in future years.

Sasquatch music festival changed my life. I met so many people from all over the world, and also met a lot of my favorite bands and artists. Hoping Sasquatch will return every year, as I will support and promote Sasquatch every year and attend. Probably one of the best festivals I have EVER been to.

Sasquatch felt like its true form this year. It has been up and down over the last few years but this year felt right at home and was amazing from beginning to end. Can't wait for next year!

Beautiful venue, great music, a lot of fun. The campground was clean, grassy and an easy walk to the venue. Plenty of restrooms. Needed a bit more variety with food but otherwise great! I would highly recommend

I've been to Sasquatch 10+ times and to the Gorge for other shows 20+ times and this year, the staff was hands down the most kind, accommodating, caring, fun, and genuine I have ever seen. I saw innumerable instances of staff (in all sectors; security, gate, bag search, shuttle, campsite, beverage enforcement, etc.) going above and beyond their written responsibilities to provide a welcoming, fun, safe, and enjoyable experience. I don't know what changed with the staffing this year, but keep hiring people like this, it made a WORLD of difference to my experience and the experiences of my campmates.

I haven t been for a couple years because the line up was so thin and headliners were not of interest to me. This year was a return to a mostly indie rock but also a nice variety of interesting and talented artists from different genres.

I don t think I ve ever had such a magical experience. The campgrounds were fun and well maintained, the staff worked so hard to make every step of this festival smooth and easy, and the music was unforgettable. Can t wait for next year.

FixtheFest
As someone who has attended Sasquatch for over a decade, I will never attend again. This is the saddest festival I ve ever been too. It s clear the owners and organizers don t care about this and refuse to invest money, effort, or time into this festival anymore. From the lack of a good musical lineup (literally a snooze fest and no music for long periods) zero facilities and services, the festival grounds being torn up and ugly, electrical issues, cheap wristbands, and stages competing for sound; this has become the anti-festival. The attendees who did come tried hard to enjoy themselves, but found that they had more fun hanging out in camp versuses being in the venue. And let s talk about camp... wtf are people paying so much for gold camping? It s not secure, no services/amenities, just the parking lot and where s the showers? It s such a shame as this used to be something wonderful and could rival other festivals. But there is no coming back from these past few years. It would need to be a really kick ass lineup and modern amenities and entertainment for this festival to ever recover. But that would mean the owners would have to spend a decent amount of money and have festival planners that knew what they were doing. And clearly that isn t going to happen.

Love the gorge\u2014- and the artists were incredible. The one and only thing is that the amount of smoking is insane. For being an all ages event I would have hoped that smoking would be limited to certain areas considering not only contact highs for younger kids, but also cigarette smoke and it s really harmful impact. We ended up having to leave early because there was literally nowhere to breathe.

Estimated is great, lots of fun. Dining options are the worst I've seen at any festival. Low of flavour, vegetables and variety, high on fried. Otherwise, good times.

Lineup was excellent I really enjoyed being able to see all the bands up close. The Foals and Outcast stood out for me. The venue is the best ever! and the views speak for themselves. The camping was easy with no car search and it was fun waking up to the cows. The crowd was fun, easygoing mostly from the northwest so being from California it was fun meeting people from outside my region and it was great seeing all the Canadians! I wish there were 2 concerts this year! See you all in 2015!

The concerts are always top notch and the venue is unbeatable. I always highly recommend it. I think the Gorge could do a better job managing parking both on entry into the camp sight the night before the first day, which was pretty smooth but painfully slow. It seemed a bit unorganized. The worst was trying to leave the camp sight. There were no personnel to help move traffic along which quickly turned into everyone crowding and jockeying for position which of course made it take that much longer. The concert = GREAT, no scratch that, AMAZING.

Sasquatch Festival 2014 was incredible as always. The organizers seem to upgrade the experience every year in more ways than one. The food, atmosphere, and camping were all a 10. Great vibe and mix of people from all points converge for fun and great music. Worth the drive for sure!
