They're simply must-see. Kevin Barnes is an absolutely beautiful human being. They certainly entertain and get the crowd really involved the whole time. It's truly impossible not to jump around most of the concert. The fantastic quality of their playing/musicianship along side how entertaining they were made for one of the best concerts I've ever been to if not the best. One of the best nights ever. <3

Janelle Monae was amazing and I really enjoyed her performance but as for Kevin Barnes, It got a little weird/awkward prepubescent boy who is trying to be sexual at times. Don't get me wrong I have been an Of Montreal fan for years, but I think False Priest just isn't cutting it this time around. The highlights of the show were definitely when Of Montreal played songs from Hissing Fauna, and other previous albums. But False Priest songs were really just a dud...Make sure you are really drunk before you go to this show, I wasn't so that might have affected my review!

What an amazing night! It was my first Of Montreal in the Bay Area and...Wow! The only thing that would've made it better would've been if Of Montreal and Brion had played a song during the encore.

of montreal was great and had a great mix of songs, phycodelic, pop, and also electronic and the crowd was great. Only problem is the new fox theater has terible sound upstairs which we found at band of horses and on the floor for of montreal was also very bad had low and high but no midrange

I'd heard that of Montreal put on some of the best lives shows touring these days, but I was really really blown away. It was everything a concert should be: energetic, moving, funny, interesting, and (most importantly) everything from the band to the mixing sounded GREAT. The Fox has a great sound crew, I've noticed. Anyhow, it was seriously mindblowingly psychedelic, and the vibe, combined with the fact that they played most of their best songs (spanning Sunlandic Twins - Skeletal Lamping) and played a SICK Bowie cover (Moonage Daydream) was just awesome. The crazy films in the background were awesome, the theatrics, costumes, and dancing were awesome. Basically, it was the best show I've seen to date. SO glad I went. Oh, and John Brown (I think that's his name?) was a great opener. He started it off slow, and then busted into some absolutely great Beatles and Screamin' Jay Hawkins covers. Excellent.

The Fox is beautiful, and it is worth it just to be in the venue. But the band was not great. Every song sounded the same and the show lasted LESS than an hour. Totally not worth the $35 bucks I shelled out. A disappointment, but wrapped in the beauty of the Fox

Of Montreal performed a very eclectic and esoteric program. The stage show seemed to have a theme, however I could not discern their intention. The Costumes and Lighting were extremely creative and fun. The vocals were difficult to hear compared to the studio recordings that have the vocals mixed extensively well. The audience was more than enthusiastic and interesting with a mixed group of emo to transvestite and costumed people of all sorts.Overall I'd rate the experience a 9 on a scale of 0-10.

It was awesome to see Of Montreal, especially in the beautiful Fox Theater. Their performance was flawless, but unfortunately the sound system was too loud. The music saturated my ears so much that if I didn't already know the songs I wouldn't have been able to enjoy them. This could've been fixed if I had remembered to stop off at Walgreens and get some earplugs. Still an amazing show.

We had never been to the Fox Theater before, but it was really quick and easy to get there from San Francisco. We arrived in time to see the last couple songs from the opening act and get some drinks (the drinks were good, quick, and not toooo expensive). The vibe of the Fox was really comfortable and inspiring. I really liked the two statues on either side of the stage. Of Montreal made a great entrance in costume with the lead singer brought on the shoulders of two huge guys in skull masks. The entire show rocked, with new and old songs. The entire time, actors were on stage who interacted with the band to create a spectacle that transcended a regular rock show. This was amazing. I would definitely recommend anybody to go see Of Montreal live.

From the flocks of bird feathers, to the giant stuffed animal men, of Montreal has once again given the most fun, most colorful show. of Montreal is my favorite band and of the three venues I've seen them in (Alabama Music Box, Mobile, AL and the Moon, Tallahassee, FL are the others), Paradise is definitely the most enjoyable. The set was fantastic and the acting and visual aspects were wonderful, and I'm not even talking about how beautiful every member of this band is (for the record: all A+ beauties). Totally worth every penny. Truly a wonderful band. Hope they come back sooner than a year from now. Can't get enough oM shows in my life. Never disappointing.

First off, I would just like to applaude the opener, Foxygen. They completely exceeded my expectations. Usually, I don't pay a lot of attention to the opening bands, but I really enjoyed their unique sound, and Sam, the lead singer, was so entertaining to watch. Anyways, before I saw their show, I didn't listen to of Montreal that often, but that has completely changed. I am OBSESSED now. Their show wasn't just amazing because they were good live (though they do sound quite good live), but because they put on an entire performance for us. There was never a moment where I wasn't completely entranced by all the cool visuals, colors, and the strange creatures that would occasionally make an appearance on stage. I'm sad that it's over, and I'm definitely going to see them again! :)

i'd heard from friends that seeing of montreal live was quite an experience. i had already built it up in my head and even with all the hype i was still blown away by how phenomenal it was. the band had some of the most creative performances i've ever seen and really engaged the audience. Kevin Barnes was a fantastically talented stage presence and the whole band gave such a good vibe. the sound system was pretty good. overall of montreal just managed to turn a concert into a huge party. If there is any downside it would be that the people who run the venue didn't seem to fully do their part and another thing was that my friends and i were hte only people who seemed to be younger than 28.

I bought tickets to see of Montreal. Not two opening bands for 2 hours, while of Montreal's set didn't even begin until 10pm. My friend and I just decided to leave. This is the first time this has happened to me and I've been seeing of Montreal for 5 years, 3 shows at Webster Hall with similar start time and they've never gone on that late. I live in New Jersey and couldn't even see them bc I would of missed my train and been stranded in NYC.

I had never heard an Of Montreal song before I went. I'd heard of the band, but that's about it. This band is so high energy, the front man was just absolutely captivating to watch. His vocals are so great and impressive, his dance moves are silly and sexy. I left this show feeling elated. I was also, for some reason, under the impression that this band made soft indie-type music. FALSE. These guys rocked way harder than anything I was expecting. It was just, ahh, such a great show. So eclectic. So theatrical. So unexpected. So damn fun. JUST GO!

I figured Of Montreal would be campy, but wow. The lead singer was all glammed out and very androgynous. Almost every song had some kinky twist with the addition four masked performers/dancers. I love it when the band smiles, and these folks were happy to be playing. I also loved Yip Deceiver's heavy beats right before. I'll be downloading some of that too.

This concert was a great end to the tour! I loved the art and lights incorporated into the songs. The staff at Variety Playhouse were helpful and friendly. There was more than enough seating since most people moved to the front when of montreal came on stage. I found a particularly good view on a barstool on the upper level seating level. Hardly any people up there paired with a spectacular view and room to dance = awesome. I wasn't really impressed with the opening acts, kishi bashi and loney dear. However, seeing kishi bashi join in with of montreal after his set was exciting. Overall it was a great experience. Of montreal concerts never fail at delivering awesome music in a creative and funky way. Favorite Moment: The encore. I'm not a huge fan of Paralytic Stalks and the encore was filled with all of my favorites. The band really took off and the audience got super hyped during that last set!

This was the fourth time I'd seen of montreal and it didn't disappoint. Their set was more than satifying. They had a perfect mixture of old and new music. genious. Kishi Bashi was the first opener and he is incredible. He is a perfect example of music as an art form. Loney Dear was pretty good but the mellow tone of them didn't fit in with the rest of the show. the crowd got really restless.

Starting off with a ton of Paralytic Stalks, plenty of Hissing Fauna and Skeletal Lampings so a super good setlist in my opinion. Stage show was not the most interesting I've seen of theirs, boring costumes, but the music was a ok and that's what we're there for really so nay matter. Sound quality was pretty good, generally good renditions of their studio versions. Three thumbs up.

Just saw them last night for the 6th time. Pretty sweet. The crowd seems to be getting a little less tolerable though. Anyway, of the two openers Loney Dear was painfully boring, but Kishi Bashi was AMAZZZZZZZZING! Not the first time an Of Montreal opener has outplayed the main act (Janelle Monae).

Of Montreal sounded great overall and played a lot of fan favorites including about 5 songs from Paralytic Stalks. The vibe was very fun and laid back and the mix was pretty good considering they had two bass players on most songs. As usual the costumes were interesting and there was a lot of audience interaction, but that part of it could probably be considered tame for this band. The first opener Kishi Bashi almost stole the show for me. He's clearly a really talented guy all around looping and pitch shifting his vocal harmonies in real time while playing violin and beat boxing. He went on to play guitar and violin and sing back-up vocals in Of Montreal later in the night. Loney Dear was good and played a few nice songs, but was a little bit boring compared to the other two acts. Overall a really good lineup and fun show.

This was the third time in about 4 years I've seen Of Montreal. They put on a crazy, engergized, and trippy show every time and are definitely worth seeing if you enjoy the music. Only complaint is the set list was very heavy on the most recent 2 albums, which aren't as good as Twins and Hissing Fauna. I would recommend seeing them at a festival or when they're not touring a new album so that they have a more 'play the hits' approach toward the set list.

All the stories you hear of the Of Montreal performances suggest grand schemes of dance music and exciting stage antics. However, this show was pretty lo-key. The music was good, and the actual performance of the music was well executed, however, the venue really seemed to detract from the enthusiasm. The drums were amplified so much that I began to feel nauseous and overwhelmed. The voice wasn't really that audible in the first half of the show. The bass wasn't existent in the beginning half. Everything just seemed muffled. The crowd at the venue was horribly managed too. People who rushed towards the stage were unable to get out. The potential for being hurt was magnified. I'm actually surprised that no one called an ambulance. I was really upset that I was unable to enjoy the show how I wanted. Kevin was amazing though. He gave a really good, heart-felt show. The inclusion of the Hissing Fauna songs were fantastic. it revitalized the show and everyone became enthusiastic again. I wasn't present for the first two bands, but I heard the actions of one of the bands was disgraceful. Two female members happened to assault the crowd to get on stage and weren't too successful, but managed to piss off hosts of people. I wish I would've been able to enjoy the show properly, but this venue wasn't well managed and I wouldn't submit to this kind of upset again.

Ok so I was really only going to this show because I knew that Solange Knowles and Janelle Monae would be there. Beforehand, I did some research on Of Montreal and came to the conclusion that this band is waaaaaay out there; and needless to say, their stage performance proved me right. Janelle Monae's opening set was amazing. She really has this way of sucking you in and making you love her with all her unique antics, and if that isn't enough to get you, her voice will certainly do the trick. When Of Montreal started, I got a bit scared because of all the pushing and moshing that was going on, but once I moved out of the front center area, I actually was able to enjoy their music. Yes their stage presentation was a bit scary, but as far as musicality goes, they are awesome! Then Solange joined them onstage with Janelle Monae to sing 'Sweet Hangover' and it was AMAZING!!! So yea overall it was an excellent show.

The Fillmore in San Francisco is a magical venue; its gargantuan red curtains transport listeners to a special timeless place where the musical goddesses and concert-goers have convened since the venue's historic opening in 1968. Fast forward to March 2012 on an unsuspecting Thursday evening, the stage was graced again, this time by Athens, GA indie-rockers, of Montreal, with a set of music from their modern period, a period spanning from 2005 to the present (see albums Sunlandic Twins, Hissing Fauna, Skeletal Lamping, False Priest, and Paralytic Stalks). Energetic performance art dominates the band's stage aesthetic, with clever use of balloons, projection screens, and vaudeville boosting the level of audience-band interaction to new heights. The stage setup favored a subdued Kevin Barnes in the spotlight, alternately playing keyboard and singing seated for one song and then prancing about the stage like a wild front-man for the next. The standout musician of the night, however, was Bryan Poole, aka the Late B.P. Helium, whose laudable composure on guitar and backing vocals was impressively professional -- even stage diving headfirst into the sea of outstreched hands could not shake this admirable musician's cool composure. All things considered, I recommend this band to the newcomer, the hardcore fan, and anyone in-between; there is enough indie-rock goodness gushing and oozing from them to keep even the most pretentious, self-conscious hipster satisfied. Yet, it is the utter humanity and vulnerability in the songs and lyrics that will ultimately determine whether their music stays or fades with the passing of time. I wholeheartedly hope for the former. Of Montreal, "... forever! Forever, forever!" ["Suffer For Fashion" - Hissing Fauna].

The extravagance that was of Montreal can only be expressed in words so much so to the extent of inhibiting any sort of feeling of how the show felt in its physicality. There was so much energy and constituted creationism in the voice and presentation of this particular experience.

I've seen of montreal too many times to count and this is one of the most beautiful shows I've been to. Pillar point, the opener was amazing. While the show started an hour late, it was well worth the wait... And the show went until 1 am. I was exhausted by the end of it. The reconfiguration of the music, stage show and audio/visual effects were stunning. Great vibes.

The main band didn't go on until almost 11:30. The band before them ended their set at 10:30. We had to stand around for almost an hour. It was not worth the money spent to be made to wait. I had to leave before they ended their set because I have a job and needed to get home to get some sleep.

I have seen oM 7 times and they never disappoint. Super solid set full of all the classics that you have to hear plus a handful of newer tracks. Lots of fun to dance to and sing along with. Only negative is the campus didn't let them play past 11 or so, so the set was cut short.

They were AMAZING performers and brought a lot of additional visual elements to the table (light projections, costumes, feather guns, etc). The band didn't need all of those things because they sounded great live and had so much great energy, but it definitely added to the show. I will go see them as often as I can after this.

I have been to this venue once before and think it's great! The space is small enough to get a truly intimate experience but not so small that you feel overcrowded. Of Montreal came on shortly after I arrived (I had a commitment beforehand and worried about missing some of their set), so the timing was perfect. Everyone working the event was helpful and friendly. The band played a high energy set for about 1.5 hours. They were truly on fire and they sent their vibe out far and wide across the audience. Overall a phenomenal experience!

Am I the biggest fan of Of Montreal's music? Not really. But do I make sure to see them perform whenever I can? You bet. The last time I saw them I ended up starting a concert drawings blog, musikati, around the sketches I did. This time around, I was curious to see how they would translate their magnificent puppet-dancers-extravaganza to the intimate Music hall of Williamsburg. The answer: Beautifully. A PERFECT sold out one hour show with all the bells and whistles and an even better set of location drawings done in almost complete darkness.

of Montreal was unforgettable, as usual. I'm used to going to shows in Philadelphia rather than going up to NYC but it was worth the trip. The venue was great and so was the sound. Some people in the crowd were a bit rowdy, but security took care of that. Overall I had a blast! I'm very familiar with this band and their live act, but they always keep you on your toes with what they're going to do next. Can't wait to see them again!

This was my third Of Montreal show this year. The bar was set pretty high at the first show, new year's eve in Athens, GA. The show at the Bluebird was great, filled with amazing theatrics and lights. It was definitely the most animated of all the shows I have been too. The setlist was decent, they didn't play very many older tunes, which was disappointing to me. I enjoy their new music, but love the records before False Priest . This is a band that I will always enjoy seeing play live. Each show has been different. They played "Oslo in Summertime" at this show, which is one of the older tunes that I had not heard live yet. "Plastis Wafer" is one of my favorite tunes, and I had the pleasure of seeing it played live for the second time. If they are playing near you, it's worth the drive to see them.

Of Montreal is purely amazing, and their show was better than I ever could have imagined!! It was just a wonderful experience, beyond just the music; they know how to interact with the crowd and get everyone really into it.

of Montreal was excellent at the Bluebird as they have also been every other time I have seen them. They are a band worth watching even if you aren't the biggest fan. Kevin Barnes is quite a performer. I am so glad I went!

I was a little iffy about Of Montreal changing the location to the bluebird at first but I think it worked out to their advantage. The small venue only made their over the top performance intimate and exciting! This is my third time seeing this band and I will never miss a show of their's in Denver so long as they come back! Can't wait!

of Montreal never fails to impress and entertain me. The musical performance is absolutely amazing live, unlike many artists, and the visual performance is awesome as well. I got one of their albums on vinyl and I got it autographed afterwards! I got to hold the lead singer, Kevin Barnes, as he body surfed, and I got to dance the night away. I can't wait for the next show!!!!

Of Montreal puts on a performance unlike anything I have seen. And while I originally thought liberty hall might be a little small for the theatrics I had heard about, it turned out to be perfect. The opening act, Painted Palms(a group I had not heard about) were also very good. I will be getting their music.

I went to this show with my girlfriend, who's a pretty big fan of this band. I'm only familiar with a few of of Montreal's songs, and was expecting a typical kind of concert experience. But I came out of this concert amazed: the music was fantastic and energetic, the audience was very involved and excited, and the theatrics on the stage made me think of the awesome antics the Flaming Lips do for their shows. All in all, of Montreal gave one hell of a show and I'd recommend anyone to go to one of their shows!

The most fun I have had at a show in a long time. You can feel the appreciation from the band and feel their intensity. The costumes, props, and dancers put together a spectacle for viewers that was funny and memorable. Would encourage any fan of music to attend, cannot wait to see them again!

of montreal was great. amazing. fantastic. the paradise was really great too. considering everyone was being crazy and staying to hang out with the band a solid hour after the end of the show, it was nice to not be carried out like we probably would have been at another db venue. great job team!

The event was fun. The new layout of the Dise made it more enjoayable, I feel. I only wish they had played a couple more songs while partaking in their antics... they have so many albums and it was such a short set with a lot of time dedicated to things other than Of Montreal tunes, which was pretty disappointing given the amount a couple of tickets cost. Overall, though, we had a great night out.

The show went well. They played their good goods that I was hoping to hear-- you know, some good ole Hissing Fauna tracks. So, in respect to their performance (and badass video art)-- AWESOME! BUT THEY STARTED AT 8:15. On a Saturday night? Seriously? I showed up at 8:45 expecting them to go on after 9, like most weekend concerts. VERY BUMMED over the LACK OF COMMUNICATION there on the part of the Venue.

Small venue for this performance was key. No matter where you were in the place, you were never that far away.... Chaos, theatrics, sweet set, amazing!
