It felt like my birthday too! I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing, what my ears were hearing, and what my body was feeling. I had a smile from ear to ear the entire night. It was the most awesome journey I could have never imagined. Rejuvenation is the word that comes to mind- I feel like a kid again... and that's what it's all about! Peace, Grateful Goddess

After spending the better part of the last 3 decades livning, eating, breathing all things Grateful Dead, it was amazing to see how much energy Phil and Bobby gave to us that night. They are playing with a presence that is almost surreal. The additon of Steve, Chris, and Jackie that night added even more flavor and depth to the already powerful Furthur project. To sing Happy Birthday to Phil was a tear jerker. Comes a time....Jerry was surely smiling down on us all.

High energy and involvement. They've found a good combination of players to jell on the carpet ride that Phil and Bobby know so well. The smiles on their faces and body language told stories and showed they can still round it up and put it out there for us to share. Best New Year's music in a long time!

We all know what their music is like and it was very well done. At times delightfully free range music that finally settles down to familiar songs. The crowd was wonderful. It was crowded and people were wandering about bumping into each other but no one was bothered. I met numerous poeple and everyone was open and friendly. The age range varied from high schoolers to senior citizens. I am the same age the Bob and Phil but the much younger were very open to talking and being friendly.

The show was so good and the song seltion was fantastic. The New years count down reminded me of Bill Graham years. Them doingh Pink Floyds Time and Clapton's After Midnight were so amazing. The light show was one of the better ones I have seen. All that energy in every space of Civic was crackling

To say, that the show was amazing, is to quite simply...put it simply. The mood was ecstatic with a happy love hum and the music was out of this world rocking good!!! I felt like I had danced just a few numbers and then it was over...I could have danced all night. The sisters and brothers were a beautiful sight to behold.

It was a high energy concert in an appropriate venue. The people were fun and the music was great. It's about time they found the right lead guitarist for their band to carry on a great tradition. Further has succeeded in capturing the classic Dead sound! Keep the guitarist--he's your future: Phil, you should overpay him. I'm an old friend since 1965-Fillmore Auditorium-kids got in free!

This show was SO much fun. I'm so glad they finally got Kadlicek in the mix; he did a great job and I haven't seen Phil grinning and rocking so much in ages. The sound was spectacular, in a venue where I've often thought it was muddy. Highlights for me included Kadlicek's solo in Half Step, Phil and the keyboardist going off during Eyes, a smokin' King Solomon's Marbles and a solid Terrapin encore. Also got to hear Lost Sailor/Saint, what a treat! Altogether a fantastic show and I'm so happy I was able to be there.

I have been seeing The Dead since the Capital ---Passaic, NJ in '76. Been through many incarnations and this has to be the best non-JerryG I have seen over the years. My friends started seeing DSO years ago and turned me onto them and I could see the magic then. We were in a restaurant in Marin after Brent had died and suggested to Bob thyat they start looking at some of the guys and he had commented they had there prospects for new people. Well years later they took my friends advice and the time came around and here they are. Incredible.

OK - so it isn't like it used to be. I must admit that that I was totally blown away by Jay Lane and Joe Russo!!! I didn't do my homework on them!! John Kadlecik was no joke as well - sometimes I could close my eyes and hear the great sounds of "Jerry". There is still nothing like spending New Year's Eve with the Dead, Further and Friends, Phil, Bobby - Whoever you want to call them now!!! I do have to say that getting rid of Warren was a HUGE mistake.......Bobby - you need to apologize!!!!!

Further Festival was a good one. Both nights were good. More like a greatest hits show. John Kadlecik playing in Jerry's old place was great. Just wished the spot light would actually worked on him during his solos. Crowd was a Dead crowd both nights not much New Year costumes. Played Time from Pink Floyd very cool.

Delicacies of the heart swirled gracefully in two generations of hope; mixed well in curious one-time music fans. "Further" begins their delight in Expression Intellect for original pacings of tunes known backwards. Dangling rege' spaggetti ditties bobbing Pop apples, far improved-upon renditions in classics of "Grateful Dead," and the ever amazing satisfaction a truely American, historically free spirited audience base presents the attendee a musical banquet to waddle away from. Meanwhile, you may not want every tune. Wait for the good stuff. PS: they got really better since last autumn! "Further" is a current band composition of two original Grateful Dead members with organ/piano, two drummers, lead fitgar (gitar) - stuff like that. Delightful youth, those guys.

Great music, crowd with love in their hearts... and drugs in their blood. New years finale fantastic with skull flying in overhead and balloons that went on forever! Rock and Roll at its best. Smoke on the floor could use more fresh air. Lots that were having great time and were sober! Really multigenerational with musicians that never lose the vibe!! Even some little kids... that was a bit much we thought.

The show was amazing from the beginning to the end. Started with Shakedown, to Dire wolf, west LA fade away and so many more amazing jams in between and ended with Bid you good night, that brought goose bumps to my skin and made my eyes a bit misty. I cnt explain how great Jon Kadlecik was at lead. He puts his own style on each note while staying true to the roots and soul of the song. He doesnt try to be Jerry, but he always keeps him in mind. Every one there was loving the tunes and for a moment, we were all one, with the music. I love the Hampton coliseum and when I walked in the atmosphere was so pure, everyone was there to have a good time, sing and laugh together and even stop one another just to shake their hands or to give a big hug. I truly had an amazing time and I can wait to see them in July at ALLGOOD. the set won t be as packed with classics, most bands don t go all out for festies, but it will still be a glimpse of the magic I felt the coliseum. Thanks for coming to the 757 guys!

70 years old and still going strong! They are still as amazing as ever. The concert was a blast the people and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is a concert that can please many different generations, there were people of all ages from babies to elderly people all dancing and singing alone to the same old grateful dead songs we know and love and few new ones that are equally as timeless! Two Thumbs up for sure!

Amazing show. Three sets was a big surprise for me. I have to admit, it made up for the first set though. An all acoustic set is fine by me... but an all ballad set, is, well, boring and a downer. Why do bands get the idea that all acoustic means ballads, I don't know. As I said though, the next two rocking sets made up for it. The Black Crow's Chris Robin added to the magic and the new Jerry replacement is fantastic. (I'm pretty sure that was Chris Robinson. Kind of funny his name is Christopher Robins) Over all great show.

The times they are a changin'. Who would have thought that Grandpa could rock the house like that? With people ranging from all ages and all generations, it was a great party. Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes and Jackie Greene made this a special night. Not like the boys need any help, but it put the show into OVERDRIVE! From Sugaree to Hard to Handle to Morning Dew to Attics of My Life.....3 sets until 2 am...with a parade and a party to remember...Thanks Phil for keeping it alive....Happy 70th....

Amazing show, with quite an emphasis on the "friends" part of the billed "Furthur and Friends." Jackie Greene and Chris Robinson were both in great form, and the fact that Chris Robinson took the lead on vocals was a surprising boon for the entire night.

I enjoyed being with good friends and hearing songs that I thought I would never hear loud. The show overall sucked because the setlist was so illogical "Ripple" opener?? I would be cool if things went together but they often didn't. The parade was a trainwreck! When the last song was sang I was happy it was over and wondered who were all the rest of the band who stayed up there all night but rarely played. The night was all about that Black Crows guy who basically sounded bad. The highlight of the evening was sneaking in over a six pack, even that didn't make them sound better though!

The show started with a lot of anticipation for an amazing night. We were not let down at all. From the first song of Ripple to almost 6 hours later and ending the fun filled magical night with Johnny B Goode it was one of the best shows I have seen. The Peggy-O was so sweet and beautiful and how wonderful was it to hear Phil sing Mountains of the Moon and then end the acoustic first set with an incredible display of harmonizing on Attics of my Life.

This show was memorable on so many levels- celebrating Phil's 70th. They played three sets and it ended at 2am- I laughingly told my son that they actually did us in and left us complete, ready to go. I love Further- Phil and Bob and John. sound as good as the Dead EVER did and its a joy to behold. This said as a Dead Head of 40 years. The only thing that kept me from giving this fie stars is that I would have preferred Chris Robinson, good as he is and great as having his guest was, sing fewer leads- I wanted to hear the Further experience complete with their peeps- and there were songs that I thought should have been shared for lead that he sang himself.I mean really- John should have sung lead on Scarlet Begonias, really. That was the only thing that kept me from thinking this was one for the top 20 list of all time! I hope to see Further play a lot around here this year,

Best. Night. Ever. I've heard Phil play better shows, but I've never been to a show that was more fun than this one. Totally wonderful. I was worried that there were too many musicians on stage, but everyone was willing to give room or step up when it was time. The rhythm section was stellar. Phil had four guys who could both sing and play guitar, two keyboards and two back-up singers of the gospel persuasion. Bob Weir has come to look a bit like a re-incarnated Jerry. Unfortunately, this has got to be one of the more lackluster performances by Further, Phil, the Dead, or any incarnation of this; my favorite band, that I have seen. Maybe it was the end of the tour, or an off-night, but they were not together, were out of energy, and just not able to "hit it" in the way that turns everything magic.

The high expectations for this bash were certainly lived up to as the band played from 8pm to 2am. The band threw the love out and the crowd threw it back as the house rocked for 6 hours! Highlights for me were a wonderful Two Souls In Communion and They Love Each Other during the acoustic first set; Scarlet, New Speedway, Hard To Handle and Sugaree during a rockin' second set highlighted by amazing Chris Robinson and Jackie Greene performances; and the Unbroken Chain-Comes A Time-Cream Puff War-Franklin's finish to the third set including go-go dancers during Cream Puff War. However, there were so many peaks I am sure everyone has their own favs. Coming out of the second break there was a birthday parade for Phil's 70th complete with Mardis Gras style floats and a giant skull with piercing red eyes. The band played a nice instrumental Not Fade Away jam, everyone sang happy birthday to Phil and the auditorium was filled with color from a giant ceiling mounted balloon drop. As it was now past midnight, it was also my birthday which made it special for me. It was the first time I had been in the Civic Auditorium since the 12/31/83 New Year's Show and this one certainly lived up to my memories of that wonderful night.

Very rarely do I find any criticism worth expounding on. It was a very interesting show and I did enjoy even though I had to work at 5:30am.....That made my show a little less enjoyable than usual. But why all the Chris Robinson? Don't get me wrong there were very strong points from him but what about John and Jackie.......They are strong as well. To relegate them to one or two songs seems a little ludicrous. What happened between Phil and Bob.....

I saw my first G.D. shows at Hampton in 1984 (and every single Hampton engagement from then until +/-1993). I ended up seeing 50+ shows at various venues over the next 11 years. In recent times I have seen Rat Dog several times as well as The Other Ones. I offer the following regarding the Furthur show at Hampton Coliseum on Feb 12, 2010: What a NICE show! Simply the best post-Jerry Garcia performance I have seen from any of the Grateful Dead alumni. John will never BE Jerry (no one ever will be of course), and I honestly do not think he is trying to be. He does have his own voice. But his guitar playing and singing are sometimes so spookily reminiscent of Mr. Garcia's playing and singing that there were times during the show where, if I squinted my eyes just right, cocked my head at JUST the right angle, and let myself drift with the music, I THOUGHT I caught just a glimpse of an older-looking guy with a happy, smiling, bespectacled, gray-bearded face standing at the fringes of the stage... ...but NO, that's impossible! In all seriousness, I hope John and the other "new" band members continue to be a good fit with the "old dudes" (Bob and Phil), and I hope Phil's transplant recovery continues to go well, because as far as I am concerned, Furthur is the "real deal", and I want to be able to see more of their shows.

These guys played with more energy and enthusiasm for my money than even the Dead trhemselves on their '09 tour. JK really makes a great difference in covering the Jerry tunes that he sings, and there are fresh approaches to many old favorites. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Taking it Furthur!

I began seeing the Dead back in 1972 and have seen more shows than I can count over the years. So, some of what I am about to say will make some Deadheads think me nuts, but it is still how I feel. Keep in mind though, that I was ALWAYS more of a Jerry fan than a Bob fan. At least Jerry would say hi to us when we ran into him, Bob always looked away like we were beneath him to just say Hi! First of all, the venue (holy ground for wrestlers) was not prepared at all for all of us Deadheads! They had most of us all out standing in a ridicules LONG line during the worst of the snow while they just about CAVITY searched everyone, letting only the smallest trickle into the venue! When the band went on with the HUGE bulk of the people still outside, the place almost erupted into a freaking total riot!! We were all screaming at the gate keepers to let us in!! We missed the first two songs, but got in on the floor in enough time. Hell, we were the lucky ones, in the closer part of the line too. There were many that had to have missed a good portion of the first set. The venue had little to NO ventilation too and it got plenty hot in there as the night wore on. Well, once in there they had a good set, but there was one apparent problem right from the start. The same problem that is keeping you from going to any of the shows. Someone's HUGE EGO! Yeah, guess who? BOBBY! That is the only reason that I can see that makes him want to sing so many or so many PARTS of Jerry's tunes! That freaking guy has it in his mind that he will not play second fiddle to ANYONE ever again!!! I always felt that he hated everyone talking about Jerry all those years, more than him, and it sure seems like he laid the law down and said to John, "You are not a star here, I am the only star here and I will allow my old friend Phil to THINK he is one too!" There is no other reason in the world other than his ego! I have seen Dark Star Orchestra MANY times and John not only can handle the tunes himself, he does them FAR better and in a Jerry fashion too. No reason at all for Bob to take over at all on them! Also, I am really thinking that good old Bobby has put John on a very short leash. John can WELL bring the peaks and valleys to the show, like Jerry used to do, but it seems he has been told to play a more background role even in his guitar work. Like Bob wants him to play Jerry, but not play him too hard and get the crowd going nuts for John. The crowd WANTED too though and did whenever they could. John looked like even he wasn't feeling like holding back, but HAD to. Other than that, there were a lot of technical problems. Very start of the second set, something in John's rack blew out. It was some single rack space piece that they could not fix and had to remove, only to bring it back a lot of tunes down the road. John was really put out without it too. It may have been a needed preamp, as his sound now was REAL low and lacking the punch and clarity it had during the first set. That really screwed with his head for a few tunes, as he was not getting what he needed from the setup. Then Bob had some tech problems then some other problems and they made comments about the wonders of modern technology. Bob even told a lame joke to kill time. Then during the last song, pre-encore, most of the light show went out while it was really being pushed to it's limit. I think they blew something at the power panel. They never did get them back on line. As for the over all show, it was still enjoyable for most there, but the set list was a little jumbled up. You can see that below. Certainly not the best show that could have been done and I expect it will be the worst of the three I am seeing. As stated above, I have never been a fan of the egoman and always a Jerry fan. I wanted to see John utilized far better than Bob seems willing to use him. There are plenty of songs that Bob sings that I like a LOT, but they are all BOB songs and none of them are Jerry tunes. He should stick to the Bob tunes. Now Phil did a great job of singing, "Eyes of the World," I was actually surprised to see him pull it off so well, after seeing him kill, "Time" on YouTube from the New Year's Eve show and I was glad for him to have done it so well. Yeah, this might have been tough for some, but it was how I saw it. I wasn't stoned or drunk and didn't have that to elevate me to a point where these points I mention would not have bothered me. It is just the way I saw it. Still, looking forward to seeing them next Monday night in Delaware and then in Atlantic City next week anyway.

Security was terrible! Parking was worse. Hundreds of heads got into the show late as a result of poor organization & poor planning. Ticket prices continue to skyrocket and concert-goers continue to be treated like 3rd class baggage. The show itself was phenomenal! The Golden Road proving to be a perfect opener at a college setting. Passenger a portender of songs to come. Technical difficulties stalled the opening of the 2nd set. Bob tried to tell a joke to buy time. The fact that he screwed up the joke was funnier than the joke itself! But, in true form, the band made up for the inconvenience; A Bertha opener got the crowd up & dancing. It just got better from there. A well played & well sung ROW JIMMY followed by an old Hunter favorite; REUBEN & CHERISE. And we were off! NO MORE DO I > EYES > TERRAPIN! > THE WHEEL made for quite a body shaking, mind melting hour of music. TOUCH OF GREY closed the set on an upbeat note. BROKEDOWN PALACE encore only reiterated the trials of tech problems throughout the show.

it's hard to impress old 'Heads - we've had 30 years to get to know the ins and outs of each and every one of the hundreds of songs in the playbook - and we've got the tapes to prove it. but throw together a keyboardist good enough for Les Claypool, and a guitarist who's spent most of his adult life doing Jerry tunes (with the Dark Star Orchestra) along with the usual suspects...and you've got a unit as tight as any swing band I've ever heard (Gramma? What's Swing?) Phils' Magnolia Mountain is always a treat, and a Reuben and Cherise just in time for Fat Tuesday? brilliant. the second set dragged out more old favorites and got everyone bouncing -

There were a lot of Bobby tunes but, the venue was soo amazing it didn't matter. Hampton is a great place to see a show-no wonder Phish always opens their tours there! The beer lines were a little slow; but, you can hear well in the hallways while you wait...

Loved the show, Sorry I had not been to DSO show where I could have caught both John Sedlacek and Joe Russo earlier. John's playing and singing were outstanding adding these 2 to the band was another chapter to the various permutations that have made this core group's evolvement so unique. Jeff Chimenti's strong piano work is trully a gift to those who follow the Dog, Dead and Furthur. That all said the Lehigh folks were ill prepared to handle the entrance into the Stabler with just 3 doors forcing a lot of us to miss the opening songs. It was great evening nonetheless

I would go see Further again. They stuck to the Grateful Dead songbook (with good jamming). Faithfully so. The Stabler arena, however, I would have concerns about going again. The accoustics are fair. There was no adequate signage, inadequate parking, it was overheated and (cigarette) smokey. No one inside or outside involved with the concert were of any help, and thus they get a low pass grade for concert promotion.. Some musical notes: 1. John Kadelik from Dark Star fills in well for Jerry, but there really is no subsititue. He also was not given the reigns to lead the band in the way he does DSO. 2. The "Phil" people who came, would not be disappointed. Phil was stage-center in leading the band musically at many points, and the sound system was certainly set to feature him as lead. He even sang a song, and none the worse for all the wear (he still cannot sing lead......) 3. Bobby playing/singing was somewhat confined, as he is definitely more of a leader in RatDog. I do, however, feel the "Bobby" people would not be disappointed, at all. 3, Rat Dog Keyboardist Jeff Chimento, was probably the best musician out there, did many solos, and otherwise showed excellent chops. 4. Drummers, from RatDog, were adequate but not distinguished. Billy and Mickey were missed!! 5. Back-up "Donna chicks" added to show.

The band was great!! Best Dead cover band you will ever see. Passenger in 1st set was highlight, long medley in 2nd set was also well done. Venue & security SUCKED - arrived on time, missed over 1/2 of 1st set, while standing in the snow, due to a**hole security virtually doing a strip search of everyone. If they need this level of security, then they need more screeners to move the crowd faster. Last show at Stabler for us - not worth it

All these collaborations of post Grateful Dead have been fun and highly anticipated, yet there still lacks Jerry's soulful sounds. They are a bit too tight, need to loosen up, and if they keep rolling they may get there

Remember the little girl with the little curl? When this show was good, it was very, very good. But when it was bad... The drums/rhythm section (Jay Lane and Joe Russo)was amazing. Jeff Chimenti on keys was definitely MVP. Fake Jerry from DSO sounded like he had a cold. His voice was crackly and his playing was lackluster. Phil (when they let him sing) was wonderful. Eyes of the World was a highlight. Bobby, as usual, slowed everything down to a lounge act. He TOTALLY missed the cue on Terrapin Station ("Inspiration") and changed the pace on several other songs. It was like the best of Phil and Friends with the worst of Rat Dog. When there was an equipment issue for the DSO guitarist, Bobby tried to tell a joke Even that was lame and he flubbed the punchline. That pretty much sums it up.

I used to go to the dead shows all over the place, and then real life came to happen. I missed the people, traveling, and just the overall feeling that I had knowing that the people around me were in the same boat as I was and everyone took care of each other. I decided to go to the show in Hampton, VA on Fri. Feb 12th and ended up catching up with long lost friends and decided to go to the Fairfax VA show the next nite. I knew I missed the something from the old days, But I had not know what or exactly how much, till this past weekend. Now I know, looking back, I missed it all, Including JERRY. I think it was ( I know it was) one of the best weekends of my life. It was absolutely Amazing!!!

I've been going to GD shows, other ones, the dead, further, etc since 89. This show was great for me. I had yet another chance to catch that old spark from when i was a teen and in my early twenties!! the venue treated everyone with respect which was important b/c sometimes the "dead" crowd gets categorized and mistreated. well im not much of a blogger, just wanted to provide some feedback

Phil & Bob together with the Dark Star and Ratdog guys were awesome. Loved Shakedown, Need a Miracle, Til the Morning Comes, Stuck Inside Memphis, Dark Star, Going Down the Road and Feeling Bad, and the craziest surprise, Dear Mr. Fantasy. A little heavy on space and drums in a couple of passages, but overall great renditions and splendid time had by all.

Went to the show on 2/12/2010. I was so excited to see Bobby and Phil together on stage that I actually shed a couple tears of joy. Shakedown opener had the crowd going early. They did Miracle next. In true Bobby fashion, Bobby forgets the first verse and mumbles the words....it actually made me smile. The set lists were phenominal, dream setlists. The addition of John from Darkstar added a lot to the band. I dont really have anything bad to say... We could talk about Bob and Phils age and, yes, perhaps they are not as fresh as they once were but love is real not fade away. I will always love those guys!!! We Bid you good night encore was out of this world!!
