I knew nothing about Ben Harper going into this show, other than he used to be married to Laura Dern. He put on a great show! The crowd was on their feet and dancing all night, his songs were easy to sing along with even if you didn't know them, and he was so genuinely appreciative of his audience. What a class act.

As Ben called it - 'This is our 8th date'. The 3 hour show was very laid back mix of Ben's entire catalog with some great stories in between songs. The show was perfectly mixed and you can hear every little detail on the guitars and vocal.
Ben Harper and the boys balanced old material, new songs, great cover and responding to the energy of the crowd for the most heartfelt, sincerely responsive concert I have ever attended. The band, the crowd, the music, all working together harmoniously, it was a truly epic concert that I am sure all in attendance will remember,

This was by far one of the best show i have ever been too. Ben was sooo amazing as well as his incredible band. The best part by far was seeing how humble and appreciative he was of his fans. To see someone that can sell out a show in minutes be still so thankful us was priceless. if you have the opportunity to see him on this tour it is a must!

When I've seen Ben in the past, he was touring with the Innocent Criminals. I wondered what his solo tour would bring. He played a great set list of acoustic and band supported songs. He played a great variety of new and old tunes and his energy was fantastic! He's a great performer.

Solos were pretty good. Other songs were good, too, but the band dynamics were plain strange. I thought the bass player was going to lose it - think he may have had equipment trouble? He was definately unhappy. The opener band rocked!

Best Ben Harper show I've ever seen, and I've seen him front row at red rocks. The connection with the crowd was truly unbeatable, and seeing him in a smaller, more intimate venue was awesome. He came out for a few different encores, and I ended up with Ben's guitar pick from the night. All in all, a GREAT show!!!!!!!

Ben seriously has the best live show ever. We've seen him three times (Berkley, LA, and Santa Barbara). And we're buying our San Francisco show tickets tomorrow. His shows seriously feel like you're watching one of those historical concerts that go down in infamy and years from now kids will be wishing they had the chance to see him live. His shows are worth every single penny. You will not be disappointed!!!!! Can't wait to see him again.

I went to Ben Harper's first concert in Chicago (think it was about 2 years ago). It was simply AMAZING. This was my first and only concert I have ever been to. As soon as I heard he was coming to Chicago I had to be the first in line for that concert! I was in the front row, right in front of him. I hope he comes to Chicago again very soon. Please come see us in Chicago Ben! Love, Jasmine

Great performance with a set list that spanned all of his studio albums. Lots of old stuff, but also some great renditions of newer work with Relentless7 and Charlie Musselwhite. The encores (with two surprise guests) were a great way to finish the show. The audience was kind of noisy, and I was surprised at the amount of heckling Ben got during the performance. He handled it very well, but I would have enjoyed the show more with fewer interruptions.

Having seen Ben many many times its always a very different show which makes it great to see him live. This show was very intimate and interactive. I am all about the music and not about artist talking to the hecklers in the audience. Even though there was a lot of talking his music this show seemed more personal and artistic. I could actually feel some of the vocals through my body...this usually only happens with great guitar riffs.....I was impressed. After seeing Ben and Charlie Musslewhite this summer 4 times ( best duo ever) I was so glad to see Charlie join Ben for a few songs. He also brought out his mom to sing a few songs which was very touching. Ben also played for almost 3 hours....can't wait to see him again...hopefully an outdoor festival where you can stand and soak up such great music and talent

Have loved Ben from way back, but mainly for his rock. When he tried to do it solo, it falls flat for me. My wife noticed his inability to jam and sing at the same time, but like me LOVES his voice and had a good time regardless. Still, a very mellow show without the groove you'd expect from Ben.

I have been seeing Ben Harper since the late 90's. His music always rocked on his albums, but the live concerts is what really made him one of my favorites. His honest humbleness and graciousness coupled with his and his bandmates excellent abilities were unmatched. It seems that over the last few times he was not the normal Ben Harper, kind of playing just to play the show and not enjoy the show. This was the Ben Harper of 8-10 years ago. Loving every minute on stage, giving 100% of his energy and soul into the music, and back to interacting with the crowd as if they were his buddies in his backyard. As has been the case many times he has done things that I haven't seen him do before. This time it was playing 3 new songs that are unreleased, veering off the set-list during his acoustic set (another favorite that seemed to go away previously), and playing a 6 song encore. A extremely rocking CSN&Y's Ohio was also a trreat. Other highlights included giving a 1 1/2-2 yr old a steel slide from his collection (although one can argue why a child that young there in the first place, but that is for a different time.) The venue was excellent, nestled in the trees in the middle of the park with great acoustics and excellent beer list to boot although the food was somewhat to be desired. I do have to say that his bandmates, why talented enough, are more or less wallflowers allowing him to shine. The old Innocent Criminals all had much more personality and the group seemed to groove together much better, but oh well. Maybe he will get them back together for another record sometime. Lastly, concerts like this is why I go whenever I hear Ben is coming to town. It is always worth it.

Better Way rocked the house and ended the first set and no one sat back down for the rest of the night. He was greeted with cheers, applause, and many "I love you Ben" upon his return to the stage. The Show in the San Diego Copley Symphony Hall was incredible touching. Ben was in a good mood, he was speaking and joking with the audience and he even played a song a guest was shouting out - the song wasn't planned. He played a few songs with Charlie Musselwhite and some with his mother. Ben Harper is able to play his songs in a way that does not allow anybody, his thoughts and feelings not to focus entirely on him and the music. I am a Ben-lover, through and through a fan, so my opinion is maybe not entirely objective, but this was by far the best concert - and that means something! The Copley Symphony Hall was the perfect venue for this concert. The Hall supported the power of music and created a wonderful atmosphere.

Beautiful performance, helped immensely by the venue, which made it more sentimental and romantic. Ben Harper's voice is what sets him apart from other artists and at times the power of his lyrics and crescendos reaching all corners of the Disney Concert Hall (which simulates sitting inside an acoustic guitar) was overwhelming. A few notable moments were his covers of Mazzy Star and Jeff Buckley, but then inviting his mom out to perform with him during the second encore made all twenty-two hundred of us in the audience feel life the Harper family had invited over for dinner....not to mention his stamina as he performed for three hours not wanting the night to end! Thank you for such a romantic and intimate evening.

He honored us by inviting Charlie Musslewhite and even his mom to the stage! The 3 songs with Mrs. Harper were so tender. Hands down one of the best individual music performances I have ever seen!

Seeing Ben Harper play an acoustic set at the Walt Disney Concert Hall has to be one of the most amazing musical performances I've seen. The sound in the venue was beyond my greatest expectations. Ben played 3 hours, of his most beautiful works.

Not only is Ben Harper a great performer, even in a large auditorium he is able to make one feel that they are sitting in a small, cozy venue having a personable exchange with him.

Ben Harper doesn't tour often but he has a passionate group of fans here in the San Francisco bay area. Playing acoustically at the Davies Symphony Hall, Ben chose a broad selection of his songs. Speaking in between songs, he is charming and funny and just a super nice guy. For me a high point was when he invited Charlie Musselwhite out and they played a wonderful bluesy set of songs. All in all a nice mellow musical evening with a very nice audience

I've seen Ben Harper before, even the Bumbershoot '95 show he mentioned. This show had a real intimate feeling. I love that he played a full 3 hours and it was apparent he didn't want the night to end. His story telling was relevant, fun, heart felt, etc.

Ben Harper is an incredible person/performer! Laid back with a good sense of humor and shares some funny and/or insightful memories/life lessons with the crowd. His ability to move from instrument to instrument with amazing vocals is impressive. McCaw Hall was perfect for the Acoustic sound!!!!!! IF you want a relaxing, enjoyable laid back evening with music that is about the sound and the lyrics then go see Ben Harper. IF you are looking for a "show" or "flash" or catchy ( like mainstream or commercial ) go elsewere. This show is more of a soul soother :)

Ben was absolutely outstanding. Best concert I've ever been to and that's saying a lot! The acoustics were amazing and the ambiance was outstanding. He was engaging and funny, very personal to Seattle. He played for 2 and a half hours and we could have listened to him for another 2 and a half. Truly phenomenal musician and it showed that night. WOW is not enough to describe how awesome this concert was! I wish I could relive it!

I wasn't sure what to expect at this show. Would it be Ben and some friends sitting around playing his latest tunes in an acoustic setting? Would they play some of my old favorites? Would it, could it, just be Ben by himself? And, to my delight, it was just Ben. A chair, a few amps circled behind him, a guitar and mic, and Ben in a Storytellers-like setting playing the goods. His voice is like an instrument unto itself, and he played it well. If you get a chance, don't miss An Acoustic Evening with Ben Harper!

Amazing venue, great format to see a very intimate performance from Ben Harper. Have seen him many times over past 19 years in a range of venues and formats. This is one of the most memorable. Just Ben, his instruments, and his interaction with the audience. Great versions of his songs with the typical emotion and love that he brings to each one, and lots of dialogue with the audience to put everything in perspective. Highlight was the ukelele version of Suzie Blue - with no mic. Great stuff as usual, this time even more lovely. Thanks Ben.

I have never seen an artist so humble and grateful for his audience. Mr Harper played unaccompanied for over two hours. He went through most of his ballads, and rendered acoustic versions of Excuse Me, Mister , Diamonds On The Inside and more of his hits. He did a little story telling in between. This was a very intimate concert in a cozy venue and probably the most relaxing concert I have ever attended. Mr Harper was his usual brilliant self and chose a venue equally soothing to his voice.

Ben Harper never fails to amaze. His acoustic performances are always amazing and his connection with the audience is always genuine. Plus he played for almost 3 hours! ...2 encores...it was unreal. You can tell he absolutely loves what he does, is so unbelievably talented, and just wants to share his joy and love with everyone. Simply brilliant from start to finish.

The venue itself (Ellie Caulkins @DMPA) was amazing, not a bad seat in the house. Ben Harper was literally a one man show, playing numerous instruments: several guitars, of course including a his trademark slide guitar, banjo, ukelele, and piano. He interacted with the audience telling stories and responding to requests. His voice was pure and true as ever, his musical aptitude impressive, overall a virtuoso artist!

Ben Harper did not disappoint. The most feeling artist I've ever seen live and he was better in person than on any recording. 2.5 hours of solo, acoustic, musical bliss. Not to be missed!
