My wife and I really enjoyed this show. It was our 1st time at the Midland and seeing Jakob....(have seen Bob many times). I was shocked that more people didn't attend at the cost and cause. Anyway the crowd was a little subdude until the end when we all got up and danced around. I thought the set list combining old and new selections was spot on and flowed very well. The local openers were also very good. If any Dylans come around to your area you should go and see them. Keep rocking! Peace.

Jakob was great! He was feeling very talkative that night, funny and engaging. Good-naturedly ragging on some audience members. He seemed to be having a great time, gave an awesome performance. Can't wait to see him again!

Jakob Dylan was a delight. He provided us with some new sounds and a couple of oldies that just rounded out the set so well. He gave us the oldies to hook us and get us up off our chairs enough new stuff to get us to buy CDs and come back. I was very pleased with the show and the intimate setting. As was my daughter who just loves him and the one I bought the tickets for.

Show started at 7:30, Simpy warm up band played 25 minutes. Dylan came on at 9:00. Sound not great- Case and Hogan's voices somewhat lost. Dylan himself sounded OK- has some good songs. Could improve rapport with audience. Came out complaining about someone in the front row doing something he didn't like... ?? The album is really good, though, and a deal at ten bucks.

The concert was good. The opening act could have done a better job getting the crowd going. They were good - but not energizing. Dylan is a real talent. I would have also liked to hear a little more from his Wallflowers portfolio but he was good. Great background singers.

Fantastic show. He establishes a great connection with the audience early, and you can clearly tell that he and his entire band are having fun delivering their music. His overall humility was displayed by the inclusion of two Wallflowers hits in the set, as well. I was really impressed.

With Jacob, it's all about the lyrics. He is a gifted writer. Consequently, his low voice and a subpar sound system made it difficult to fully enjoy. His guitarists came through loud and clear....and they were excellent. There could have been a little more featured Neko......she should have done at least one of her songs. And Jacob should cover one of his favorite Bob songs, it could only add to a festive evening. A good show, nonetheless.

Jakob Dylan did not bring his A Game. He apparently did bring some junior high garage band to open though. And while these pre-pubescents could carry a tune, they needed a little rhythm to breathe life into that dreadfully somatic-bordering-on-flat-lining performance. When Dylan and crew woke up and realized it was (past) time to put on a show, the crowd was a little lost. I like his albums, but any redemption for this mediocre show came from back-up singer Neko Case. There should have been much more of her. I was eager to hear Dylan's foray into alternative country territory. But adding a few more twangs to Wallflower songs hardly cut it. Sadly, a lot of talent doing a lot of nothing.

that is not Neko Case on the album cover. and it's not as if the show was a double bill, Neko and Kelly were background singers, just as they were on the album.

Seriously, I've seen Jakob a few times now, with The Wallflowers and without, and this show was the best ever. They played a good selection from the new album, Women & Country, that actually has made the album better for me, added character and dimension. They also did a couple Wallflowers songs, but with a twist since the girls (Neko Case & Kelly Hogan) were there to sing along. I'm actually going to this show two nights in a row, that's how much I loved it. And, I do have Neko's latest album, Middle Cyclone, and she has such a clear, beautiful voice, that if you like Jakob you'll like her. Plus, I'm going to look into this Kelly Hogan because she really carried her share of the vocals beautifully.

We (4 of us) expected some synergy between two talents -- but nothing. Dylan hardly acknowledged Neko's existence and there was zero chemistry between them. Jakob, why not share a slice of the spotlight with Neko? Even the photo in this review panel sends the same message; Neko's face is hidden behind Dylan. The sound was muddy and the reverb overwhelmed the vocals. Overall, a perfunctory performance.

No joy. Why were the singers never closer than 10 feet apart?? Neko performed like a very talented back-up singer, no more, and Kelly was invisible/ignored. Are these guys all mad at eachother?

Like his father, Jakob Dylan has picked up a decided country twang with the new album because of the pedal steel guitar, the the result is very enjoyable. Neko Case and Kelly Hogan also add a new dimension to the band. Neko's orange hair is hard to miss but it her unique voice that brings strength to the mix. The sound in the loge seating was a bit garbled but it could not diminish what was an excellent concert.

As for the performance and energy, Jakob Dylan was incredible. I could not decide if his voice sounds exactly the same if not better live. All performers were incredibly talented and happy to be performing - overall an unforgettable performance. Unfortunately, my only complaint is that the staff at Town Hall were incredibly rude. I have been to a number of concert, multiple concerts at Town Hall as I live in New York, and never before was I met with such smugness except for that night. As the crowd was calm and there purely to listen to the music, this was really shocking. Aside from the man who took my ticket, everyone was nasty for absolutely no reason.

The opening "act" who call themselves, "Mimicking Birds" were so thoroughly boring and monotone that I started nodding off by the 3rd song. I probably would have fallen asleep if it were not for the drummer who at one point grabbed his microphone and caused it to feedback sharply. It woke me up (temporarily). I was glad when they left the stage. When Jakob Dylan took the stage, I wasn't expecting it to be a raucous affair, but I was at least hoping for some energy to flow. Sadly, it did not. The stage was filled with talented musicians that seemed to be half asleep most of the time. It was listless, lifeless and thoroughly un-enjoyable. By mid show we had had enough. We walked out (along with several other people who were just as disappointed). Don't get me wrong, I dig JD (and Neco too but she needs to dump Kelly Hogan) but it felt like more of a rehearsal than a performance. And not a very productive one at that.

The music and performance by Jakob Dylan and company was extraordinary. I have listened to the current album many times on a good stereo system and I am quite familiar with the music. But, the sound in the theater was not good. I don't think they had a mixing board - as the vocal was buried in the mix. And to top it all off it was TOO LOUD.

interesting experience...perhaps it's the acoustics at wilbur, or perhaps my ears were playing tricks on me, but for most of time, the performance seemed to be a battle between the vocals and the band

The concert was great, BUT everybody there wanted more Neko! She has way too much talent to be relegated to a backup singer. Should have thrown in a few Neko songs for sure - and let her play guitar too!

I was there to see Neko Case and very sad that she was basically a backup singer. Jacob Dylan is talented no doubt but his voice was very mono toned, when he incorporated the talent of Kelly Hogan and Ms. Case it was amazing, but this only happened only on a few songs. T-Bone Burnett(?) does great collaborations but I felt this was less of a collaboration and more Jacob Dylan trying for a come back album. The musicians were extremely talented however I left slightly disappointed.

This small 200 seat theater was the perfect setup for Jakob Dylan. Usually on stage he's a little stiff and impersonal. Here he was relaxed, funny, and gave thoughtful answers to questions from the audience. It was an interview setup so we only got to hear the new songs recorded. It would have been nice if he had played just one song. Even without backup it would've been good.

Although I had no idea what to expect, never having been to one of these "Album Drops" before........I absolutely enjoyed being there! Jakob was really down to Earth. When asked about his writing style, his life growing up "in the business", how his songs come to him, etc.......he prefers being "real", rather than giving people the answers they might have expected. I truly respect that. Besides, his new "album" (I guess we still call them that) is REALLY GOOD !!!

To be honest I attended the festival to see the BoDeans. They are one my favorite bands of all time. They did not disappoint! They were clearly the highlight of this festival. Opening with Idaho and hearing that unique harmony that Kurt and Sam create was awe inspiring. And during the set adding the crowd favorite sing-along Still of the Night was just great. The crowd was really into them, with many knowing all the words to the songs or least looking like they did. The Bodeans set was too short, even Kurt wished they could have played longer they have a lot more songs. As for the other performers was not that familiar with their music, except for Jackob Dillon. It was a little eerie seeing him perform, it was like seeing Bob Dillon 40 years younger and with a better singing voice. Dillon's perfmance didn't really inspire the crowd as much as the Bodeans, but it was still a good peformance.

Sara Bareilles-much better in person than on CD. Cute, quirky, funny, even when singing about the "douchebags" who done her wrong. The Bodeans-OMG Fabulous-they should have been the headliners! They get better with age, and Sammy's voice-incredible. Jakob (no photos please) Dylan's music kind of brought everyone down after the Bodeans.Like his dad, not much stage presence, but at least he faces the audience. His 2 female singers were amazing, esp Kelly Hogan. A lot of folks left after Dylan, fools all-they missed the amazing energetic, soulful, joyful Robert Randolph and his Family Band. Just one question Robert-why do you keep your sister waaay in the back-she needs to be up front-she is a powerhouse . Everyone up on their feet and dancing, and the venue staff couldn't do much about the dancing in front of the stage. A few too many drunks, but you find that at every event. Easy parking, easy getting out, decent food booths. Not crazy about the no re-entry policy but hey what can you do.

Jakob Dylan put on an amazing show. He played for about two hours, no break. He was interacting with the crowd all night. The venue (Blue Bird Theater), is small and intimate, and there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Jakob would pose for pictures on stage, talk with the crowd, and was in high spirits. This really is a once in a life time show. I've been to so many shows *too many to count* and this was by far the best show I've ever seen. I was breathless, the entire time. Sarah was great. Robert Randolph is a great slide guitar player, but way more funk when I was expecting a more bluesy sound. Jakob Dylan I could have skipped. His bass was overpowering and didn't really enjoy his songs. The Bodeans were amazing. I would have been happy to have had Sarah as the opener and the Bodeans as the headliner. They are always such a fun group to see. High energy, great music, love the crowd interaction. They were by far my favorites of the night. Not sure why they are never the headliners. I Love them.

Great night for a concert. Sara Barella's was good (she's a great songwriter, OK performer), the BoDeans were vey energetic and fun and have a great catalog that was only scratched in their one hour set. Too bad, because Jacob Dyan was compent but very flat in comparision, it was like he was channeling his Dad and going through the motions. Robert Randolph and the Family Band got the crowd on it's feet again and ended the night on a high note. I rated this concert 4 stars, wouldda been 5 without Jacob's performance. I sure liked him when I saw him with the Wallflowers a few years ago, hopefully this was just an off night for him and his band.

All of the acts were really good. It sounded like the sound booth had trouble with Jakob's bassey voice and the stand up acoustic bass as his set was pretty muddy in the low end. Out of all the groups I felt like the BoDeans stole the show and I wish they could have played longer, the crowd was really into them. Alot of people were up dancing and singing along. Sara Bareilles rocked and was outstanding! Good interplay with the crowd and very unassuming. Great vocalist! The Bodeans were surprising and exceeded expectations. The crowd was dancing up in front of the stage despite security efforts to keep everyone back. Obviously a crowd favorite. Jakob Dylan however was very disappointing vocally and his group was not up to par, especially the bass and percussion. Definately the low point of the event. A couple of bright spots however were his pedal steel player and the two female vocalists. In all fairness I did hear folks mention that Dylan and company sounded better from a distance (I was in the 4th row up front). Maybe a mixing issue?? Rounding out the show was Robert Randolf whose group was top notch. Incredible bass, drums and of course one of the best pedal steel guitar players around. A true talent!

I searched the internet thoroughly twice trying to determine the order in which the four bands would appear. Negative. This was not public information. Why the big secret? By the time I arrived (after an annual alumni event), I missed the one band I really wanted to see, the BoDeans. I stayed for Jakob Dylan only to see the exact opposite of what I saw the night before with the very entertaining Chris Isaak. Jakob never engaged in any kind of dialogue with the crowd, never engaged in any audible dialogue with his band, wore sunglasses the entire time (in the shade) preventing any eye contact with anyone, and moved only within a 3-ft by 4-ft square in front of his microphone. I wasted the best seat I had in years (front row), watching the dullest entertainer I've seen in decades.

Despite some sound problems (Sara's keyboard, Jacob's vocal & Robert's steel guitar), this concert exceeded our expectations. Sara Bareilles' wonderful, clear vocals and intelligent, sassy lyrics were a joy. Unfortunately, it took about a third of the set until Jakob Dillon's vocals could be heard clearly. His folk/rock rooted music evoked thoughts of his father but with a better, richer voice. Robert Randolph and the Family Band's high energy set, with Robert's incomparable steel guitar work kept the audience on their feet, dancing to the beat. But for my wife and I, the performance of the evening was by the Bodeans. Kurt and Sam's vocals both as solos and in harmony were exceptional. Also, Kurt's solo guitar work rivaled Clapton's.

The BoDeans should be the headliner. They are the biggest draw and the biggest talent. Robert Randolph should put his little sister up front. She was the most entertaining thing on the stage and they hid her behind the bass player. Is he on some kind of ego trip and needs to be centerstage at all times? At least bring her up front and off to the side. It looked ridiculous; as if he was intimidated and trying to hide her. Also strange that the spot remained on him while the keyboard player was singing. Ego or malfunction? Him alone on centerstage was boring. They had a very eclectic repertoire opening with a Marshall Tucker sound and running the gamut to Southern Baptist revival to Funk to Jimmy Hendrix' acid rock. They were very talented group of artists but not a very cohesive sound. Not my cup of tea. Also was not impressed by their blue-haired man servant. Found it degrading. Jakob Dylan seems to be a bit of a Hitler. His band does not look happy or inspired. You get the feel they're on a payroll. There were sounds coming from the stage that the musicians did not appear to be making. Was he playing a beat and bass soundtrack? Weird. I couldn't pick out the sound of Dylan's guitar either.(?) Enjoyed the sound setup of miking the old Fender tube amps. Nice and full. Hate the new album but liked the new band. I think they would be better off without Dylan. Sara Bareilles is darling AND talented. Too bad she played first, I think most people missed her. The perfect show would be Sara Bareilles opeing for the BoDeans starting at 6pm and costing about $40 for reserved seats at Marymoor Park. It was awkward that so many of the reserved seats were left empty. Love the setup at Marymoor Park: from the tall pines shading the reserved seats all afternoon, to being able to take a beer back to your seat and not be coralled in a noisy, stinky beer garden to the food and picnic table set-up to the overall layout of the grounds. Great summer venue!

I my opinion, Sara Bareilles was the best performance of the night. She was awesome and lively and interacted with the crowd well. Next The BoDeans played and it felt like they played only five songs which were extended extreeeeeeeemely long with long explanations of the songs beforehand. I kept saying, "Just play the frickin' song already!". Although, I think the crowd was much more lively during The BoDeans. There was a lot of sound issues in the beginning to about the middle of Jacob Dylan's performance. It was tough to make out the words of his songs, but you could clearly hear what the back-up singers were saying. Between each song they had to retune again as well. The bass drum was also way too loud. Very unfortunate. We ended up leaving before Robert Randolph & the Family Band, but I'm sure their performance was great.

We sat at the back under a tree in the 100 degree weather, and felt no urge to move closer to the stage. Sara Bareilles was fantastic, she has great presence and a good clear voice, she got a great response from the audience. The BoDeans had lots of people up and dancing, even in the heat of the day, they played a great set. Jakob Dylan has an awesome voice and beautiful guitar skills, people were interested and involved and enjoying his music. The sound was perfect, not too loud, no ugly feedback, brilliant! And then half the audience went home! We stayed for a while, but left before the end - and there was a constant stream of people leaving early. Robert Randolph just didn't hold Marymoor Park captive.

All 4 acts were excellent, but the sound was seriously muddy for the first 3, especially closer to the stage. We actually spent much of the concert in the GA area where the bad bass was not so problematical. 5 stars for the acts, 1 for the sound.

BoDeans shouldn't have been matched with Bareillis and Dylan; this would have been a great show if Sara and Jakob both played longer sets. The BoDeans had a large, vocal following, and they weren't a good lead in to Dylan at all. Their barband raucousness, though enjoyable, didn't set the mood. The reaction to Dylan's more subtle, interesting songs seemed luke warm at best, only because this mood is low key and contemplative. Someone at the mountain messed this up. Who was responsible for the sound? Each performer had trouble with the levels. Often the mix was muddy and the vocal levels a constant challenge. Marymoor's a great outdoor venue, but . . .

Though I went entirely for Robert Randolph and the Family Band - I really enjoyed all of the performers! I got the impression lots of folks came for the BoDeans and it was a bummer that many left AFTER their performance -- RR is difficult to "categorize" if you haven't heard/researched gospel/rock-a-billy/blues history (going back to slavery) but I am hoping those that stayed till the end got a new dude and his family to follow! Their performance was magical! And the weather was awesome! Love the venue, too!

Wow, how could such a talented group of artists go so wrong? Primarily the sound was just horrible. I'm not an audiophile, nor are most people. I've heard such people complain about the sound or the mix and everything sounded fine to me. This night though, the lousy sound was the main topic of conversation heard around the park. "Fire the sound man" was a chant heard after Dylan finished. Muddled sounds, poorly mixed, no sound from either guitar and Dylan's vocals buried and unclear made it impossible to enjoy those beautiful songs. The Bodeans were able to overcome the poor sound with volume and enthusiasm, but Dylan's laid back songs require a clear sound system and the crowd's lackluster response was aimed at the sound not the songs. Randolph was great, but what the heck is he doing in this lineup? One final comment, the crowd's here are getting way too drunk.

What a beautiful day for a concert! Sara Bareilles was great. The Bodeans were wonderful. The Randolf Family Band was amazing! I was disappointed by Jakob Dylan. Overall it was a fun concert,. It would have been more fun if Marty Riemer and Jodi Brothers were there.

Sarah was a very pleasant surprise....a very talented and versatile singer, writer and musician. I would love to see more of her. The Bodeans were absolutely the main attraction for me and I was blown away by their tight music and new songs. Jake Dylan and his amazing band were exceptional, although the his ban on pics was, I thought, a little heavy-handed and egotistic. They could have asked just to ban flash if that was the problem. Also, the sound system was not optimized for this band and his vocals were blurred, making the words hard to make out. His steel guitar player was the backbone of the show, extremely talented and present. I think he may have overshadowed Dylan! In fact, his whole band tended to out-do him. The last act Robert Randolph and the Family, was energetic and great, too, but at the end of the day a bit exhausting. Altogether, a great show with a creative mix of styles and a a well-run event. For me, the Bodeans and Sarah were the mainliners, I would have paid just to see them!

Sarah M. was good, very clean voice, would be very good at a smaller more intimate venue ***. The Bodines were excellent-where have they been lately? ****+ Jakob Dylan did make the realization that the Wallflowers were over (saw them in Portland last, while it was fun, clear he was hitting a low point); while he has tried to make a shift in genre, clear he was disinterested and repetitive. At times it was tight, but other times they were off and went off on tangents*. Randolph Family band offered the passion, joy and energy lacking in Dylan's performance. Virtuso on the Guitar*****.

I've been to many shows at the Bluebird and have enjoyed almost all of them. Unfortunately, the person in charge of sound at this concert was horrible! There was feedback, the instrument mics were too loud, and Jakob's mic was too low. Even when I knew every word to a song, I couldn t understand one thing he sang. I honestly don't think that's anyone's fault but the sound engineer. It was so bad that we actually left the concert early, which was a huge disappointment because I truly enjoy Jakob Dylan's music.

It was a great show from the get go. Jakob was animated, talked, and even said he went to the Red Sox vs. Rockies game the other night. The music was excellent and both of his new albums were well covered. The sound was perfect, the Bluebird is an intimate place to see such an amazing crooner. I would say he played about an hour and hald, and Kelly Hogan backing vocals were as hot as she is! Wow, thanks Jakob for a great night and all of this great new material and for adding a deeper dimension to your vast talent.

Loved Wallflowers and what I had heard from Women and Country, but was unprepared for just how mesmerizing Jakob Dylan is. Amazing music, amazing guitar playing, amazing band. Some of the most artistic guitar I have heard in years. I am sure he does not want to be compared to he who shall not be named, but having seen him several times as well, there is only one comparison - that Jakob is true to himself and certainly is his own musician, band leader and person, but the magic is there and cannot be denied. Only complaint - sound problems, could have been the venue - which is very cool and fun, but not exactly an acoustical triumph

First time seeing the legends son. Totally unfamiliar with his music until the show, so not sure what to expect. I was rewarded with a very good show by a pretty tight band! The PA system was such that the words could be understood only if you stood in a particular place.

The concert was excellent. Dylan was amazing - so much better in person than on TV. I haven't bought his new CD yet - but sure plan to do that soon. His band - 3 legs is also great - Loved the female backup and solos. Will look to attend another Jakob Dylan concert. So glad I went.

The opening acts were so bad that they put a damper on Jakob Dylan's set. Especially because we had to endure them for 1 1/2 hours before Dylan came on. The first act was simply boring, but the second act was not only bad, but vulgar. It also appeared that they were stoned. I cannot see how the booking people would think that if someone liked Jakob Dylan, that person would also like the opening acts that appeared on this show. If you are going to use unknown or little known opening acts, it would be nice to tell your customer what approximate time the headlining act was coming on so that they could make an informed choice to stay away until that happens.

Jakob Dylan & Three Legs plus backup "gals" Neko Case & Kelly Hogan delivered a sparkling performance covered by jangling guitars and haunting voices. When I first heard "6th Avenue Heartbreak" on the radio/'96-97'? in Portland, I had the same reaction when I first heard Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "Breakdown" on the radio/'79 in California'\u2026 I had the same reaction, this is THE MUSIC I need! Yes, this was a perfect show. I enjoyed every minute of each performance. HoneyHoney was new to me and the stripped down vocals and guitar fill my plate. Of course, The Felice Brothers, their words and their instruments strike me in a place I want to cling to...I been playing the CD "Mix Tape" and just pacing around the house trying to absorb al those stirring lyrics. And thank you Ian for the hug-

Jakob Dylan has broke all the expections that one might have of the son of the great Bob Dylan. The music was entertaining, smooth and beautiful. His songs told stories that all could relate to. His band and he played with such ease you would swear they have been doing this for a lifetime together.

I really want to like Jakob Dylan. But I just can't. I've come to the conclusion that his music-especially the past 2 albums- is unoffensive to listen to as background music while housecleaning, but that's about it. Also, he's just as unimpressive live as he is on the recordings. Every once in awhile, he throws a lyric or chord change my way that makes me go "ah yes, that's where you want to go Jakob, let's see more of that" - but those moments are few and far between, both on record and in live performance. Alas, young Mr Dylan, you have finally convinced me to cut my losses with you and never again buy your CDs or come to your shows. One parting word of advice, lose that Neko Case chick- she's every bit as boring in person as you are.

I prepared well for this show, took a short nap and then had dessert instead of dinner at Stellas on columbus street with some mellow mint tea.....arrived an hour early at the regency ball room and secured a balcony seat in the front row with a movie theater type chair 50 feet from the stage....later the balcony, although half full was shut off, I guess to guarantee the floor standing would be full, which it was...........at 8pm 'honey, honey' took the stage for about 20 minutes.........a great 3 member group from LA with a strong female singer with banjos, horns and guitar, then it was the Police Brothers a rather boozey, lively group who seemed by their style to be from England, but probably not. 2 members played on their knees in their short set.....quite entertaining. Then it was Jakob Dylan's band and what a group. You nevah know, but Dylan seems like such a nice man. Handsome and personal, he had his usual fedora, sport jacket and a pair of comfy loafer looking boots. He is the same size as his dad, average height and slight of build. His band was super, great guitar/mandolin player, a fantastic slide guitarist, an upright bass player, middle aged with a long, trimmed white beard (it was announced by Kelly Hogan that the beard was celebrating its 10 month anniversary....10 months, that's not an anniversary said Jakob!). His drummer was a clean, mop haired dude that looked like a polite college student. And his 'backup' singers!!!! Neko Case with her sweaty red hair and voice ringing like a bell along with her longtime friend and backup singer the pleasantly plump Kelly Hogan. Both gals were crowd favorites and stayed in the fold of the band, never on their own. Neko looked happy but actually sang 'off mike' through some of the songs. You know how a lot of bands aren't as good as their produced records? Not the case here. Great vocals, great music. Dylan did more than 2 dozen songs primarily from his last 2 great albums (no, he does not do any of his dad's stuff). Gracious and in kind control of his band, it was a fantastic performance. He had many kind words for SF and yes he seemed so sincere. A nice jewish 'boy' indeed (although he must be in his late 30's and he has 4 kids). The show started at 8 and was done at 11:30 counting the 1st hour of the opening acts. That was just enough time for me to quickly walk 4 blocks to my favorite thai restaurant, Thai House Express at the corner of larkin and geary and get in before the midnight closing. Late night crowds there are quite interesting, hip city dudes and gals, cooks and chefs from other restaurants recently off work and a few streetwalkers. Are there nicer people than the thai????? Green papaya salad with peanuts and chile and a great small, whole steamed pompano fish with a wonderful lime dressing....do eat plenty of steamed rice with this spicy meal. In bed by 1am and now it's morning......time for decaff coffee at the beatnik joint Caffe Trieste in north beach and then a ride to my favorite produce market, the monterey market in berkeley. Off gilman st and on hopkins this place is the subject of the foodie film, 'eat at bills'........probably breakfast at betty's oceanview diner too and back to the north valley............I am blessed.

The opening act sucked and playing loud didn't make it better. We left for the bar. When dylan and case came on she was his backing singer at least until we had to leave so the babysitter could go home. Maybe she got the spotlight later in the show ... overall, the band played ok. The sound again was very bad, boomy and distorted, must've been mixed by a generation ipod engineer. too bad.

suuuuucked! went to see neko case, and what is essentially her band, perform, with jakob dylan fronting them. neko and kelly's singing were by far the most dynamic and strong parts. jakob dylan, on the other hand, lacks any kinda charisma. i was waiting for the music to come and wow me, it never did.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show, although I missed the opening acts. I've been playing his new CD for the past week, and it has grown on me immensely and the concert enhanced it even more. Good band, and the new country style suits him as well as the higher energy Wallflowers.

I saw Jakob Dylan at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, MN. His touring band, Three Legs, was mostly Neko Case's band. I'm a huge Neko fan, seen her own show a few times. They were awesome, as usual. Musically, they were right on, even better than Jakob's band on the cd. I was wondering how Neko and Kelly Hogan would work as backup singers, since their voices are so powerful. Jakob did have to turn his mic up a bit to match them. But after that, it was perfect. They covered all the songs from Women and Country, a couple from Jakob's first solo cd, Seeing Things and a couple Wallflowers tunes. There was something here for everyone who enjoys real music. Even my mother, who's more into country than folk/rock, loved it. About the only people who wouldn't enjoy it is techno/electronica fans.
