This was an amazing night of superb entertainment in the Mother Church, hosted by Marty Stuart with the great Mr. Eddie Stubbs as MC. Beside Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives, guests included comedian Gary Mule Deer, John Prine, Margo Price, Chris Hillman, Roger McGuinn, Chris Stapleton and others.

Marty s annual Late Night Jam never fails to deliver an evening of superb entertainment. Marty delivers a fantastic mix of new artists along with big stars and legends, while also playing his own music with The Fabulous Superlatives. This year he introduced the Ryman crowd (and America) to the fantastic English band, The Wandering Hearts. Living legend John Prine and newcomer Margo Price shared the stage. The Grand Ole Opry square dancers and comedian Gary Mule Deer delivered some great entertainment. My personal highlight was when Byrds Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman performed My Back Pages , You Ain t Going Nowhere , So You Want To Be A Rock and Roll Star , and Turn, Turn, Turn , backed by Marty and the Superlatives. Mega star Chris Stapleton closed out the night by singing some of his many hits before he, Marty, and Carter family member Dale Jett finished off with a beautiful version of Keep On The Sunny Side .

From start to finish you never know who will be there, I've attended all 9 Jams and have seen so many different entertainers in all genres over the years. Of course my favorite is always Marty & the Fabulous Superlatives & the huge bonus is the debonair voice of Eddie Stubbs as emcee. You just never know who will show up after the CMT awards. Keith Urban gave us a great performance, and then Vince Gill still puts on a great show. The Opry dancers, with their "little guy". were great. Someone else always steps in if someone can't make it; i.e. Gene Watson came on over when Ronnie MIllsap couldn't make it. There is always so many to see and enjoy! This year: Keith Urban, Connie Smith, Gene Watson, March & Kell Martin, Duane Allen (Oak Ridge Boys), Cowboy Jack Clement, Ralph Mooney, Vince Gill, Mafia Jug Band, D.L. Moody. They end it all with will the Circle Be Unbroken with most who can stay coming back out on stage. And all funding goes to Music Cares to help out those musicians/entertainers who need a hand up. That's the best reason of all to be a part of this great event. All funds were going toward the flood damage last month. You never know who'll be there! Can't wait for Jam # 10!!

I have been a fan of Marty Stuart long before he was "popular" with the now crowd or was known for his TV show on RFD TV. I have always felt a connection because he is a fellow Mississippian but more than that because he is truly an entertainer. Marty was on the stage, continuously, for 3 1/2 hours and was entertaining every second. He had many "legends" pop up on stage such as Vince Gill, Dwayne Allen from the Oak Ridge Boys, Cowboy Jack Clements, and Gene Watson. He also had a heartthrob and popular artist with Keith Urban. The crowd just loved the young artists Marty brought on stage such as Apostle Paul's two sons and one of those sons played and sang "Tempted" almost as well as Marty does. There were lots of cheers for a little boy who square danced. If I have to say anything negative, it is that Marty did not have any female "legends" except Connie Smith. I would have loved to see Patty Loveless or Reba drop by. Also, Ronnie Milsaps could not make it and I was looking forward to seeing and hearing him.

Proceeds from this show went to (as they always have) Nashville Cares which is a division of NARAS. Basically, the money goes to help musicians in their time of need that are right here in Nashville. Many artists lost a lot in the recent flooding. One of the highlights for me was to see Steel Guitar Hall of Fame member Ralph Mooney. "Moon" as he has been nicknamed over the years has played on countless records for legends such as Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens as well as many others. Marty brought him out to do a few songs with him and Ralph also brought some friends from Texas and his preacher and the preacher even sang a couple songs that Moon played on. Besides the wonderful Ralph Mooney, there were some surprises like Vince Gill and Gene Watson who filled in for Ronnie Milsap who couldn't make it. Of course, Marty's lovely bride, Ms. Connie Smith was there and sang and looked as beautiful as she always does. Also, not one but two Songwriter Hall of Fame Members. Dallas Frasier and "Cowboy" Jack Clement. The names speak for themselves but just in case you don't know, Dallas has written such songs as "Elvira", "Where Is My Castle", "There Goes My Everything", "All I Have To Offer You Is Me" and countlees others. As for Cowboy, he is not only a legendary writer but producer as well. The horns on Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire" is due to Mr. Clement. Also for Johnny, Cowboy wrote such songs as "Guess Things Happen That Way" and "Ballad Of A Teenage Queen" What more can I say. If you want to see an awesome show, and the money goes to a great cause, come see Marty Stuart's Late Night Jam. You won't regret it. See you next June

As always a great time with Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives! The music, the stories, the crowd interaction- makes you feel like you are a part of his family. As well was the performance of Connie Smith (his wife) and the Sundowners. I purchased early to ensure a front row seat but I am sure all seats in the house were good. The RFD theater in Branson is very nice, the sound system and the lighting were fantastic. Marty, Connie and the Superlatives even stayed after the show for a meet and greet with the crowd and did not leave til all were greeted. That shows you they appreciate the fans and know who put them where they are now in the spotlight.

This was my concert weekend, Marty on Friday night and Alan Jackson and Kelly Pickler Saturday at Merriweather Post and again at St Leonard VFD. As much as I like Alan Jackson, Marty s concert was the best. Uncle Kenny, Apostle Paul, Handsome Harry and Marty Stuart come a cross as friends not just a singer and his backup group. Marty s concerts are pure fun, you feel like you are part of the fun not just a ticket holder.

I forgot how much I loved Stuart's music. He is an amazing performer and storyteller. Until his Birchmere performance, I didn't know he played mandolin which was incredible. I am a true bluegrass fan and was blown away by what I like to call the Bluegrass barbershop quartet. The injection of gospel was truly inspriring. Based on what I heard, I am looking forward to his upcoming CD.

This is the second time we've seen Marty Stuart in concert. What a fun time ... our 13-year-old loved it as well. Marty and the Superlatives have incredible voices, and perfectly blended harmonies. I am touched by his personal stories, and LOVE the gospel songs! He did 3 songs for an encore - they appeared to be having as much fun as the audience was. Can't wait until they come back again. We'll be there.

Marty Stuart is a remarkable showman, with a special talent for "connecting" to his audience, smiling all the time, making eye contact with those near the stage, and playing and singing his heart out. His two "back-up" performers were true to their name -- superlative. They were very versatile, playing a variety of instruments and also singing in several styles and tempos, to great applause. The drummer, too, was extraordinary. They put on a two-hour show that was "country" music" at its best, but also emotional at times, personal, spiritual, and fast moving in a way that allowed the artists, particularly Marty Stuart, to demonstate their musical skills. Their show entertained -- and amazed -- everyone!

It was casual enough that you thought you were in the company of friends. Each member of of Marty's band killed it. Kenny Vaughan is an amazing guitar players and Marty....well Marty is a legend. Marty with the Fabulous Superlatives were great emcees and John Prine, Margot Price, Roger McGuinn, Chris Stapleton were all so excited to be part of this fund raiser. It felt like we were allowed to witness a private jam session of incredible talent. I hope this was recorded for a Ryman release. We will be making this an annual pilgrimage. What a wide range of music. Marty just keeps getting better---Had the great fortune to see him last year at Americana Music fest in Nashville at the historic Ryman--- He was great and the magic there was awesome--- His show at penns peak matched the his performance at the Ryman. --- only thing I was disappointed in was we had a meet and greet with him after the show-- he was gracious and very personable, signed all my items i had--- BUT we wernt allowed any pictures??? don't know if this was at his request or Penns Peak- it surely would have been a nice pic to add to my collection. This show has to rank among the top 5 shows I have seen in my 61 years on earth! The music was FANTASTIC! Marty's band is called "The Fabulous Superlatives" and that is a great name for these musicians. My wife and I were lucky enough to get 3rd row seats, and we had a fantastic night watching and listening to Marty Stuart. I wish I could say the same for the opening act. He was a competent singer and played the guitar well, but his songs were incredibly depressing. The subjects of his original songs included 2 murders, heroin addiction, an alcoholic relative, the experience of a POW, and more. I hope he writes a couple of songs about positive things. Back to Marty and his band, they did a wonderful rendition of "El Paso" in honor of a hall of fame guitarist. They did some great instrumentals along the lines of '60's surf rock, a lot of classic country music and I mean GREAT classic country, some new songs from their latest CD, and a Johnny Cash song for a man wearing a Johnny Cash "T" shirt. The interaction with the audience was great,

My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed the show. The opening act was awful to say the least or at least in our opinion... but many of the people around us felt the same as we mixed conversation during the break. Nuff said! BUT.... Marty and the band were great. I would have liked to hear more of Marty doing his hits as he shared the stage with the band to do several of their own songs front and center, all were talented and very good vocalists too. But overall the show was great, funny and entertaining as Marty and the boys enjoyed doing the show as much as the audience. I give it a 4 1/2 stars. Would have included pics but the bright lighting caused every pic to wash out and I simply wouldn't post a bad pic of a great entertainer.

Watching the Superlatives perform in person was, in my opinion, "other-worldly". 90 minutes straight of non-stop musical, vocal, and percussive perfection left me speechless. I've been to many venues in my lifetime and I cannot recall ever seeing such a tightly choreographed performance. There was not one misstep in every selection, not one mis-timed start or stop. Finally, I don't recall ever seeing so much guitar-based talent, skill, and gifting as the Superlatives!

Marty and band are the best touring act in the world, as far as I m concerned. All four members are superb on their instruments and the vocal harmonies are flawless. An incredible performer. I've seen this man 3x now, and he really brings the heat. Far too short of a concert however. Total length was just 70 minutes & that's really inexcusable. I've never seen a shorter concert, at least not one without an opening band. So, what gives? The band is just killer. These are all pedigreed musicians. It would be a real pleasure to ever get to meet & hang with any & all of them, really would. I wish them all the best. Play longer!

I can't say enough positive things about this concert. From the opening act was Sean McConnell, to the moment Marty Stewart anD his Fabulous Superlatives Took to the stage, I was reminded how much I love really good country music. I'd never seen a Marty Stuart live performance nor followed the biographies of any of the Superlatives. Of course I'd heard of Stuart and seen TV clips. After hearing his "Unseen Hand" recording, I become a convert to Marty Stuart. Had to see him onstage. Very glad I did. Marty has deeps roots and knowledge in music history. He was at home in Knoxvile and brought to our attention the contributions of a little known and a widely unsung local songwriter, James Arthur Pritchett a.k.a Arthur Q. Smith. Marty and His Superlatives played a broad cross-section of music a la Americana. They've even written a very credible sequel to the old instrumental beach song genre a la Ventures. Looking forward to seeing him again.

Great show, great venue. His band is great. I wish he would have played a few more of his own songs, he did a few too many covers. His drummer sang two songs, the blues number went on too long. We enjoyed the show and highly recommend his show. They played for about 90 minutes.

All I can say is if you have a chance to see Marty and the boys, then run to get tickets. I defy any fan of music to not smile from ear to ear when seeing these guys. Marty is a country historian and the Superlatives are some of the finest musicians I have seen anywhere. It really was an honor to see them.

My Gosh...I saw Marty probably 15 or 20 years ago, and wasn't sure what to expect from his concert at THE CAVE. All I can say it was a GREAT time. My wife had never seen him, and she was blown away by both Marty and his band. Marty is a great singer and musician, but the three boys he has playing with him are just fantastic. Great song selection, and GREAT musicians and singers each in their own right. The crowd was very supportive, and everyone (including us) had a great evening.

What a great night! So many stars, new and old! Everyone from Charlie Pride to Brothers Osborne to songwriters and up and coming kids! Marty started out with his band and sang a couple of his big hits, then let the other special guests come out and play and play with him! Eric Church stole the night, as he brought 2 of the members from Little Big Town and Chris Stapleton to sing The Band's song The Weight and Little Big Towns song Girl Crush. You can't deny how special of a show this was and how great it was for Marty to bring all these fantastic artists together! Thank you Marty!

This was worth the entire trip, the perfect way to start CMA Fest. This is what REAL Country is all about. Mixing new up and coming-artists with well known legends and Artists not seen in a long while, this show puts in one location the tradition and legacy of "Music City". Marty Stuart puts on one "Helluva" show and from an 11 year old banjo playing wonder to the last surviving Maddox Brother at 90+ years of age, you'll see everything this City is famous for ! And this is a mix of traditional and New Style Country so there is something for everyone.

I'm really happy that my first show at the Ryman was the Marty Stuart Late Night Jam. My mother crossed paths with Marty Stuart about 20 years ago at Walmart in Smyrna, TN and thought he was the hottest guy EVER. She has loved him since so I noticed that he was coming to the Ryman and bought her tickets for Mother's Day. We had such a great time and there were really awesome acts. Some old (from the 40's) and some new. All were absolutely great. I did find out at the show that this was an annual event and I will attend next year. The only negative thing I have to say is about the Ryman bartenders and liquor. The bartenders were not very friendly people and we each ordered a margarita which were $14 a piece!!!! And it was awful. I think it was the worst drink I have ever had. It may have been the sweet and sour mix but could have been the tequila. So steer clear of the bar. But definitely go see the Marty Stuart show next year.

I was very impressed with both of them. I was a DJ when Connie first started recording, and I have been a fan of hers ever since. I had heard of Marty Stuart, but never heard much of his music. He is an outstanding entertainer, with a beautiful voice.

This concert took place in a formal concert hall, but that didn't stop the audience from clapping, laughing, and fully enjoying a great performance by Marty Stuart and his wonderful band, the Fabulous Superlatives. Marty sang many of his hits, did some gospel with the band, and each band member did two solo numbers. A very musical and entertaining evening that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to see a good show. And Marty and the Fabulous Superlatives came out after the show to sign autographs in the venue lobby.

Marty Stuart puts on a great show. Great instrumentals from Marty and his top of the shelf band. A good balance of hillbilly rock, traditional, bluegrass, and gospel, they do it all, and they do it great! PLUS, something new, while you are waiting in line to meet Marty and the band, you get to take pictures and hear about his Clarence White Fender.

First I will have to admit, I love Marty Stuart! I believe he is the soul of country music, so this review will not be unbiased. Additionally, it's been a few years since we last saw a show at Indian Ranch and I forgot about how wonderful this intimate setting is. The last show we saw at Indian Ranch was Marty Stuart, probably around 1995. Then as now, this venue is a gem, there is not a bad seat in the house. All week we had been checking the weather and early on it looked like we might have rain. As the day drew near the chance of precipitation dwindled from 70% to 10% and I am happy to report there was not a single drop of rain throughout the entire time we spent at the show, in fact the sun shone for much of the day. Onto Marty Stuart! I have been a fan for 20 years and have seen him multiple times. I have never witnessed a subpar performance. It is abundantly clear Marty and his band love what they do as they convey that love in every note they deliver. And their love for the music is infectious, as the crowd responded with delight at every chance. Over the course of the show, the boys dipped into every stage of Marty's career, working in songs from his early hit-making period (Hillbilly Rock, Tempted), sharing anecdotes involving Johnny Cash and Lester Flatt, right on through to his present, outstanding output. Early on, Marty gave the stage over to guitarist Kenny Vaughan, who played two excellent songs from his recently-released solo project. The boys had some fun, doing the theme song from Bonanza, as well as showcasing sublime harmonies on the gospel number, Working on a Building. Marty also delivered a ripping mandolin piece that highlighted his virtuosity on that instrument. Marty mentioned it'd been 10 years since he last appeared at Indian Ranch and promised he wouldn't wait that long to return after this show. I am already anticipating returning to see Marty at Indian Ranch next summer!

The CMAFEST week is an awesome experience anyway, but the Marty Stuart late night jam was amazing! Marty was on stage all 3.5 hours and we never left our seats. He had many people come on stage and sing and jam with him. We saw Dolly Parton, Ricky Skaggs, Mel Tillis, and Connie Smith, iand several lesser known names, but all very talented. He wanted to expose us to some new and older talent. I will definitely plan that again!

This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The Late Night Jam started at 10:00 and went on till 1:40. The amount of talent presented that night was incredible. Marty Stuart, Folly Parton, Mel Tillis, Ricky Scaggs, Dewayne Eddie, Connie Smith and others. It never slowed down and I didn't want it to end.

This show was the best. The sound quality, The talent could be 10 stars or a 100 stars. Marty has done a fabulous job putting together this band of Super players. I would like to see him more often at the Birchmere. I would like to see meet and greet before the show.

This was the second time I had seen Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives at the Birchmere. They are terrific musicians, and Marty is a great showman. The selection of songs and styles was eclectic and the sound they got from the four-piece band was technically superb and fun to listen to. Kenny Vaughn on guitar is always awe-inspiring but everyone in the band is a player to remember. Don't miss them if you get the chance. You won't be disappointed.

This was an excellent show, but was advertised with a start time of 7 pm. Being on a Tuesday night, this was a key factor in our decision to go, as was the $25 price which became $36 with service charges. The unadvertised opening act came on at 8 pm, and Marty Stuart at 9 pm. The quality of the performance made up for most of the disappointment, but We will think twice before returning to the House of Blues. We would go see Marty Stuart again, just not here.

The musician Steve Miller told me about this group: "If I am within 150 miles of a performance, I go.". So I went to three shows in a row in Anaheim, Solana Beach, and Los Angeles. Steve gave great advice. These guys are excellent players and vocalists, and are versatile multi-instrumentalists. Their material ranges from Saturday Nitght to Sunday Morning. Their solo and ensemble playing is a delight. Performances are appropriate, heartfelt authentic and superb. I now understand why Steve said to his audience at the Ryman in Nashville: "This is the best band on the road.". They have roots, range and vision. Catch them if you can.

Marty Stuart and his band performed flawlessly, playing originals and covers. The covers were phenomenal- Hank Williams, Sr., Left Frizell, Marty Robbins. All good including the harmonies. All four could sing lead and harmony. It was something to behold. And I can't say enough about the Lyric theatre. With less than 1,000 seats, it is very intimate and there isn't a bad seat in the house.

Marty and his Fabulous Superlatives were in rare form for the Bijou show. His show intensity reminds me of a Springsteen show or a Garth show....just non-stop electricity. Why this guy doesn't get the "Legendary Artist" recognition is beyond me. As to his stage persona, he was always moving around and interacting with his audience. He appeared to be having a lot of fun performing for his Knoxville fans. And the unsold-out crowd responded with their raucous approval. For an encore(s) he asked the crowd for their favorites, saying "don't worry, I know thousands of songs"".....and he does! Marty is truly a national treasure for Real Country Music. I'm not predominately a CM fan, but I am a guitarist and Marty lived up to his rep as a prodigy of the guitar and mandolin. My wife had never seen or heard him and was instantly a new fan; he was That impressive At shows end, he shook hands with everyone at the stage and even gave an autograph to one lucky fan. How often do you see that? And I gotta give props to his band the Superlatives. Each member lived up to their name. It was a Fabulous night! If they do a show within driving distance, Go See 'em. Even if you're not a Country fan, you Will be entertained. And isn't this what it's all about???
