Ms. Lauryn Hill

Ms. Lauryn Hill

LAURYN HILL IN CONCERT:As a member of the Fugees and a decorated solo artist, the legendary Ms. Lauryn Hill broke new ground for female artists in hip hop, becoming one of the most dominant musical figures of the '90s and the first hip-hop artist to take home a Grammy for Album of the Year. With new material and a critically-acclaimed tour in 2013, Hill proved she hasn't lost her edge – or her voice – taking the stage with a full backing band and breathing new life into her catalog of hits with updated arrangements, extensive improvisation, and dramatic readings of her socially conscious verses. FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:"Do not sleep on Lauryn! She is back.

Honestly Lauryn Hill was great she was revved up and on to a great start in her performance which the vibe and energy was high from the audience and you can feel her true when she sung, however, the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre in Freedom Hill was pretty rude to shut her set down while she was singing so they suck for that because she was just getting started but the night was great Busta Rhymes Santigold and the other artists definitely kept us in Good Company I'd go see her again in a heartbeat.

Lauryn's still got it. The band and her singing chops are still worth the trip but overall Lauryn, Busta, and Marley's performances were dope. MIA performed and I want part of my money, time, and hearing back! Both she and Dave east (sp?) Were poor choices paired with Lauryn and Busta, both with energy, content, genre and crowd.

Lauryn put on the performance of a lifetime! She sang so beautifully and took us back to the old school!! Dave East, Busta Rhymes and Funkmaster Flex were all amazing as they opened for her.

Waited over 2 hours for Lauryn Hill to come out on stage!! Not only that, but quality of sound was terrible for the first half of her set and couldn't make out anything other than the blaring instruments. Only during the second half was I able to even distinguish what songs were being played. Ridiculous, bad, DJ for 2 hours! I didn't pay $60 to go to a club with seats.

Wow what an amazing show. At first I wasn't pleased with all of variation- i wanted to here the original melodies - but after she began her Fugees segment- I did not sit down once! My throat hurt the next day (probably from the mixture of cold/snow and singing too much). She killed it! The DJ at the beginning was TOOOO long. Even he looked liked he was over it!

In high school (late 90 s) I went to 2 of Lauryn Hill s shows: 1 at the Wang Theater, Boston and one at Great Woods in Mansfield. She was the reason I fell in love with live entertainment. I knew every word of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and sang them proudly with her during these shows. She became an inspiration; her live performances were those that put goose bumps up my neck. Now I am in my late twenties and have not heard anything from her in over a decade, so of course I was thrilled when I heard that she was coming back to Boston. I invited one of my closest friends as a gift for her birthday and we attended her concert on 12.20.10 at the Wilbur Theater in Boston. Doors opened at 8pm, and the ticket stated that she was to go on stage at 9pm. There was not an opening act, only 2 separate DJs. After over 2 plus hrs of waiting for Lauryn, she finally came on stage around 11:13, 11:30. It being a Monday, a work night, and the fact that it was the first snow storm of the year - the audience began to grow restless. She is no longer the confident growing star of my generation. She is now an insecure, power trip who we walked out on after 5 songs. Lauryn checked her hair, fluffed her skirt, and wiped the sweat off her face so much that her physical insecurities were evident. She directed her back-round singers on cue, pointing at musicians and overall looked out-of-control. The music was so loud that the microphones squealed and my ears buzzed the entire ride home. All of this would not have mattered if she put on a great show. Sadly she took her most famous hits, sped them up, and tweaked them so much that I didn t even recognize them until mid-song. She was yelling, oh man it was a mess. I am so disappointed, and must say to Lauryn you might win some but you just lost one .

Great show. We had to wait an hour and a half for the band to finally hit the stage, but given that it was snowing out, maybe that was a travel situation? My only complaint, if any, was that the sound was muddy and hard to decipher. Ms. Hill had an 8-piece band with three backing vocalists, so I think that all that instrumentation formed a wall of sound. It was hard to really hear what the players were doing musically, and difficult at times to really hear Lauryn's voice above the barrage. Not a complaint in reference to her voice or performance, though, since there were some really stellar moments where you could hear what she was doing, and that's what I wanted!

Show was great. Ms. Hill was almost 2 hours late arriving to the stage. Her songs were amazing and sounded different than how they were recorded on the albums. Her energy was intoxicating. I would love to see her again soon. Welcome back to the game Lauryn!

Although she came out a little later than her scheduled time, Lauryn later made up for it by bring back old hits like "killing me softly" and "Turn Your lights down low". There were some sound issues and her remixes to some of her songs left the audience baffled, but overall it was a good peformace. Exactly what you'd expect from someone who's been missing from the scene for a while. I'd see her again anytime anywhere.

It was an incredible show but you have to have patience for our dear old Ms. Lauryn Hill. She has always (and still does) work on her own schedule. She didn't come on stage until an hour after her scheduled time but played her full set list just the same. She has just as much energy and talent as she did back in 1999 and I would recommend her just as much today. It is so refreshing to have her back on the scene, showing off her pure talent. Thank god to have a real female R&B artist back in our lives. (She even played some Fugees)

It is with deep regret that I must inform you: Lauryn Hill has put on one of the worst concerts I have ever attended. That was probably the most disappointed I have ever been at a show. Putting aside the fact that she went on two hours late with no apology or explanation (I was expecting this), the arrangements of her classic "Miseducation" hits and the awful instrumentation and overall sound of her band ruined the music. She had 3 guitarists (all japanese kids who looked like Berklee students), 3 keyboardists, 3 background singers, DJ bass and drums. Not only was the music loud, it was so muddy in the middle and hi registers that you could barely make out the music. Why would anyone think this is a good idea for a band? Most of the songs she did were not recognizable till about halfway through the song. I don't have a problem with Lauryn doing new arrangements of her classics, this could yield some great remakes. But the arrangements were terrible! Minor keys were turned into major keys, harmonized choruses turned into doubled guitar and doubled keyboard parts. When you play a song TWICE AS FAST as the original, it tends to lose meaning and depth and most of the songs were done a lot faster. It was like a bad SNL skit when Lauryn would sing "Zion, Zion, Zion, Zion, Zion" in doubletime! At times, it sounded like the Black Eyed Peas were trying to turn in Lauryn's music into top 40 dance hits. It sounded like the Village People without the funky horn section. I would shake my head and say "No" when I would figure out what song the band was butchering. How could she kill these songs? The rest of the audience was with me. People sat in the balcony looking bored and the floor crowd did not dance, move or sway. The applause after a number of songs was fairly week. Lauryn didn't seem to be crazy or depressed or awkward. This could be the good news. She seemed poised and positive and sounded good when she sang. I am just confused by her horrible musical decisions.

Ummm. The ticket said 9pm show. Now, I understand doesn't mean the performer will go on at 9pm, but 2 DJ's for 2 1/2 hours? and she walks on stage near 11:30pm?!! REALLY? That's just not acceptable. She is beautiful, talented, with a fantastic voice. I went to hear her sing... unfortunately, her band was far too LOUD, and drowned out her voice for much of the performance. It was a ROCK Concert... with a Rock Band... and her R&B and Soul songs were done in a ROCK arrangement. OK, that was interesting... and some of the songs were very good. Just not what I expected... and with the 2 1/2 hour wait ... I don't think I'd have bought the ticket if I knew in advance.

Lauryn Hill is one of my favorite artists of all time. The night began with a bad taste in most people's mouths because she came onto the stage over 2 hours late! Perhaps it was the inclement weather I am not sure. However, the song list was perfect and she played some great numbers. Whoever was working the sound over powered Ms. Hill's voice. You could hear the back up singers way more than you could hear her which was very irritating.

This was the worst show I have ever been too and I have been to many. I was really excited to see her and had all this anticipation. Well that went away shortly after arriving. The doors opened at 8 she was supposed to go on at 9. We figured it would be more like 9:30ish if she had an opening act. Well she didn't have an opening act, but had a DJ. Fine thats cool but it's not what I was expecting nor what should have been after spending $70 a ticket. (read below till when she came on; he dj'ed that entire time) After getting to the theater, getting drinks and going to our seats - we sat and waited. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. We waited until after 11 till her and her band finally came on. AFTER 11 pm !! Oh and she had to be done by midnight which gave her less than an hour to play. Okay so we thought at least she showed up and came on stage right?! NOT. Since the band didn't have time to do sound checks - the sound quality was HORRENDOUS. The band was extremely loud and you couldn't hear Ms Hill singing. I mean I heard maybe a few words here and there but thats it. To top it off there were moments that you could hear the piercing sound of feedback. We left before she even finished b/c it was just that bad and since it was so late it wasn't worth it. I was extremely disappointed and aggravated. Maybe I would have felt a little better had she apologized to the crowd for waiting so long......but that never happened.

Showtime was supposed to start at 5:45 pm, but Lauryn Hill was on stage doing sound check st 6:45. We weren't allowed to go inside the seating area until 7:30. All the acts got there time cut short, and she didn't perform some of her most popular songs. I was in the third row, and I could see her signaling to the sound man and band during her performance, it was not all good. Venue prices for food and drinks are high.

It was great to see and hear Lauren Hill after so many years. My wife and I were stoked that she performed a lot of her classic Fugees songs and it was cool that she brought her family out on the stage at the end. Overall two thumbs up. Would have been five stars but the concert was shorter than I had hoped for. Total performance time under 1 hour.

I went to see Ms Lauryn Hill in Atlanta, GA at The Tabernacle the opening acts did great Seun Kuti and Paul Beauron having african dancer, and doing they own music. Ms hill was amazing she showed up on time did all her hits, some bob marley songs, and Sade's your love is king sweetest taboo, and some songs were rearranged, but she gave a high energy, and soulful show. Lauryn is an amazing person and a very humble and outgoing artist. I bless God for her and she takes on so much negativity but the truth needs no defending, so all the rumors and lies being spread will be cast away. Her unplugged album was a blessing and I can only pray that she considers doing a sort of rap session in an intimate setting where we can converse with her, vibe and be blessed by one another. I'd pay good money and travel great lengths to share a moment such as that. The show was AMAZING!!

Yes, she started late, but once she came on stage she delivered 100% of non stop 2 hour performance!! Ms Hill did not disappoint. It was amazing to watch her directing her band, back up singers and even the light guy to make sure everything sounded good and that the lights made us "feel good." She covered her songs, some Fugees and a couple of Sade songs. She also looked beautiful. The opening band Seun and Egypt 80 was good, and the DJ did a good job of pumping up the crowd. Hands down the best money I've ever spent on a concert I have seen Lauryn before she was good but this show she was great! She was "on time," plesant and her vocals were out of this world. Not to mention Nas put on one hell of a show and seeing the two GOATs together was absolutely amazing! Lauryn Hill is the greatest frustrated performed of all time. Her voice and show were fantastic, yet the entire time we watched her frustrated with the mic level, the monitors, the sound in her earpieces, the band level, the background singers level, everything. She would sing a note then turn around and yell for something, then sing another note and go back. The whole time. It was comical after a while. Yet, she still gave a really good performance. Hard to say I'd go back to see that happen again though.

This is the second time I've been to see Ms. Hill. The first time was pretty horrible, I wrote about that. THIS time was MUCH better. Could actual hear what song was being played. Ms. Hill is a perfectionist control freak. The first show I saw she dialed that up to a level that actually destroyed the show, it just sucked on many levels. The funny thing is I saw those EXACT same tendencies THIS time... but she dialed it back enough that it worked. I'm STILL sure she drives her band nuts. But at least it sounds good by mellowing out just a little. And she drives them a LOT less nuts than she did a few years ago.

Although Lauryn has a lot of negative reviews for being late. I must admit that no one is ever on time for a concert. I have never been to a concert where it started exactly the time on the ticket. With that being said she did not come on stage until about an hour after however people were just finish coming in. She performed 1.5 hours without stopping at all for a break or to talk with the audience. She did exactly what she was paid to do and that was sing. No opening acts which was fine just Lauryn Hill performing. Its true she doesn't sing the older songs the same, but its still something to see and I was still well entertained. Other artist have music playing in the background and they sing when they want or let you sing the lyrics. Lauryn actually sings her own music throughout the whole concert. Bottom line go see Lauryn Hill, I had a great time.

I'd finally had the chance to see one of my favorite artists in concert, so I was thrilled. Her fans waited 2 hours for her to appear on stage following a lackluster local group's performance as her opening act. The intro was a song unfamiliar to many, followed by another song no one knew. Her attention was so focused on directing her band versus engaging her audience! I felt sorry for those seated to the Left of the stage - Lauryn's back was facing them throughout the show! The tempo for all of her hits that she sang was extremely fast! It was as if she was in a race against time to perform before this venue pulled the plug! The arrangements had a Reggae sound/vibe. Not my preference and I didn't recognize her songs until she sang the lyrics. I still love her music, but I prefer to listen to the recorded version. I expected better especially if she's too launch a comeback, but considering her flub in Atlanta, the hopes of that happening might be dashed!

I took my daughter and wife to see Ms. Hill on Friday and on Saturday night I paid for my other daughter and friend to see her. Since this equates to a $567 out-of-pocket expense (plus $120+ in dinners) I have something to say. Both nights we had to wait in the extreme cold or snow for over an hour, because the Howard Theater doors opened late. This was due to Ms. Hill doing a sound check. This was very inconsiderate and rude of her. As a result of this, one of my daughters is now sick; costing me more in medical expenses! On both nights the show was suppose to start at 9:00 pm. Ms. Hill didn't walk into the stage until 11:30 pm. She didn't apologize! Lastly she sat on a couch and performed.......again she sat on a couch! To end this on a positive note, Ms. Hill's performance was good. She did change the music and tempo of her songs, but it was entertaining.

Open Letter to: Ms. Lauryn Hill - While you sounded good, what makes you think your time is more valuable than mine? I was at the Howard Theater show in DC tonight 13 February 2015. No, let me correct that I intended to go to the show on the 13th and arrived at the venue on the 13th but the majority of the show was on the 14th because you came on 2.5 hours later than the show time on the ticket. When I purchased the tickets, months ago, there was no mention of an opening act, which seemed to be a DJ thrown on at the last minute to fill time for your tardiness. I can provide images of the information provided when I purchased my tickets to support my assertion. The doors of the venue were supposed to open at 7 pm but there was a line down the block because they wouldn't open the doors because you were doing sound check at that time. The temperature was well below freezing (i.e. the teens) and you knowingly let people who enjoy your music and had spent significant amounts of money to see you stand in the freezing cold. If that wasn't bad enough, after the doors were opened you didn't come on for another couple of hours. I was in the lobby demanding a refund when you finally came on at about 11:36 after waiting for four (4) hours. To add insult to injury, when you did decide to grace us with your presence you didn't even acknowledge starting significantly late. I understand being "artsy" but you do what you do for a living and so do I. If I'm going to be late for work I need to let someone know and you should have the same level of respect of your "employers" which are the people who spend their hard earned money to see you perform. If I had done on my job what you did tonight I wouldn't have a job. You owe me $487.85!

Show was supposed to start at 8. Lauryn didn't say a single word until 10:31. She remixed all of her origina songs to upbeat pop sounding music. Her voice wasn't on point. She performed for 40 minutes and had a 10 minute intermission. She dad her guitar music and messed up. People couldn't sing along to most of her lyrics because the tempos were so fast that from where I was sitting you couldn't underst a single word she said. There were to slow songs that showed off her voice. She masked it with upbeat brand new rock/Caribbean/pop music. People were fed up and left early. The show was on a Tuesday evening and people have to work in the morning. That's not fair to paying viewers to wait all night for a subpar performance. Stick to YouTube for her. The only time you hear her old material is when the crappy Dj plays a crappy mix before the show. Did I mention the service sucked. They ran out of food and they were slow!

Ms Hill doesn't look a day over 26! Her unique renditions of her classic songs kept the crowd pumped. There was a 2 hr wait, but once she took the stage the presence of hip hop royalty made everyone forget the wait.

This was in fact the first concert that my wife and I have ever been to live, and I have to say it was an amazing experience. From an artist that we've both loved since we were kids ourselves in elementary and middle school from her run with the Fugees to her solo career her music has been a major influence in our lives and culture. This show was amazing, she performed a lot of her classics and biggest hits but most of them she did in a new way so it was familiar, but new and different all at once. We loved it! Not to mention surprisingly the BBQ Chicken Nachos we had were superb. The drinks were great as well and we would have continued ordering them if we had a way to get to and from the bar, but the crowd was so packed in that became not worth the effort. Overall it was a very memorable experience and I'm glad we got to be a part of it.

Despite the rain, I had a great time. Yes the songs were remixed and the beats were different that didnt cause me any disappointment. Lauryn Hill's performance was authentic and her vocals were amazing. I would pay to go see her again.

I've been a fan from way back when and so I had a lot of expectations. Sure enough, she did not disappoint. She sang all the best stuff from "Miseducation", Fugees album "The Score", and several of legendary Bob Marley's greatests. And it wasn't just a CD track performance, she styled everything up, ad-libbed frequently, and even had an awesome unplugged portion where it was just pure raw talented vocals and a guitar. Amazing.

The show was wonderful. High energy. Ms. Hill sounded like a cd. All she had was a dj, drummer, 2 guitarists, pianists and 3 backup singers. Just goes to show you don't need 15 dancers to put on a good show. Hands down the best vocalist and lyricist ever!

It rained the entire night, we were drenched afterwards, but Lauryn never gave less than 110%!! She still has it, baby!! Her set ups were amazing and her flow was just as sick as it was in the 90's when Miseducation first dropped!! Annnnd I was able to snap a pic with her afterwards!! Such a sweet and beautiful soul!! Overall, very dope experience!! Definitely one for the books!!

She was good and she definitely puts a twist to her old songs. Most songs are more of a fast upbeat. She does a little of everything from her song history. It was outside and it rained but I think everyone pretty much stuck it out. One thing I didn't like was how it seemed she had to direct everyone during the entire performance. Overall satisfied with Ms. Lauryn Hill. It was great seeing a living legend still doing her thing.

We arrived at 7 show was to start at 7:30... no opening act.... DJ came on stage at 8:15 ish and began getting crowd hype. Lauryn didnt show up until 10:15 ! Due to Tour bus problems. So we got a 1 hour show for the price of a 4 hr show! Very upset PLUS the band was all over the place... she was having to direct them throughout all her songs ! My favorite songs were murdered hearing them LIVE!

I've only ever seen her with the Fugees maybe in 1996. After she dropped The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, I've been a fan for life. Lauryn Hill represents amazing talent that we don't hear on the radio these days. Her voice live is so beautiful, and the reggae spin she on some of her songs shows how truely gifted she is. I LOVE Lauryn Hill! An angel on stage.

Although Lauryn was an hour and a half late it was definitely worth the wait. Her performance was awesome and she still sounds great! She added a lot of reggae to her songs which gave it more of a Caribbean sound. She is so creative and energetic, I will go to another show of hers in the future!

The event opened with Jhene Aiko who did a fabulous job!! Then Nas came right out, did a good hour plus show and had the crowd HYPE!! Then... the moment I had been waiting for !! Lauryn Hill. BUT.. please, go grab a drink or two, use the rest room, go wash your car, run a few laps around the Palladium Ballroom, or just stick around and "BOO" the DJ, because we waited on Ms. Lauryn Hill an hour and a half!!! It seems like even when she finally got out, she was still not happy with her audio or the sound because she took several breaks to stop and speak to the sound people. BUT in all fairness, coming from a TRUE Lauryn fan, she did a great job. She looked and sounded great. and personally, the show would've been A LOT better without the distracting band. I'll take Lauryn with a guitar and microphone any day. I had to really stop and listen to catch the beat of what her band was playing to classic songs such as "Everything is everything" and "X Factor", but once I caught a beat, I was smooth groovin'!! Unfortunately, once I realized Lauryn wasn't going to tell the band to take a break and just be really personal with the crowd like the MTV Unplugged days, I took a few more snaps and videos of my favorite artist, and chucked her the #deuces. Bye Lauryn!! Catch you on Pandora!!

I seen Ms Hill once before in Wingate park, Brooklyn, and to say the least I left early unhappy. HOWEVER, I decided to go see her one more time at the House of Blues, 2/12, and it was amazing, she was about 30 mins late, which is what she does, but her vocals were great, band was great as well. She also performed my favorite Stevie Wonder song, which was a plus... I'm waiting for her to come back...

Lauryn Hill is my all time favorite artist so I was so excited to see that she was playing a mere 3 hours away in Atlantic City (I live on Long Island). The staff at Caesar's were so nice when we got there, very friendly! The venue was beautiful and full of energy. I was a little skeptical about seeing Lauryn perform but as a die hard fan I can tell you she was BAD ASS!!!!! She had so much energy and you could tell she put a lot of effort and creativity into her performances. Her band was fantastic and she really made them part of the show. She did full on Fugees songs all by herself, rapping every part. She did all her greatest songs and sounded amazing. She even did "Turn Your Lights Down Low"! Amazing. The energy of the crowd was so fantastic in part because one of her DJs hyping the crowd before the show, part because she was so full of great energy, and partly because you could tell everyone was so impressed with her. I would love to see her again and I'd travel just as far or even farther to do so.

I saw Lauryn Hill didn't have good reviews prior to buying my tickets for the show however, I also saw most people's main complaint was her starting late. I personally was fine with her getting there late (about 10:30pm). I saw her in concert about 10 years ago when her "Miseducation" cd first came out and she was great. I was hoping the concert would be similar. She pretty much rapped EVERY single song. There were times where you weren't sure what song she was rapping because they all sounded the same! If you're planning to go to sing along with her songs you're better off playing your cd. There was no band, it was a DJ, 3 back up singers which were singing the chorus and a guitarist which looked like he was just for show. The lighting was horrible, no spotlights on her at all. Some of her chart topping songs ie. "Nothing Even Matters," "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" and "To Zion" were not even sung.

I was very apprehensive about attending this show...VERY. This was my first time seeing Lauryn Hill in concert, and since I have been a fan of her music since the 90's, I really wanted to see her- and I'm glad I did! My sister and I planned very accordingly, due to her reputation for being up to 4 hours late. And yes, SHE WAS LATE! But we knew that this was gonna happen, and didn't get to the venue until 9:00 when the show stated that it was gonna start at 8:00. I love this venue and thank goodness for the Jumbo Screen since my sister and I were way in the back this time around since we did get there later. Well, the opening act, Murs, was on when we walked in there which was after 9:00, and he was good!I loved his combination of rap, hip hop, reggae, and techo music. He was so good that I'm buying his music! He had the crowd going which is a good thing because I know a lot of the people standing there were probably there since 7:00. After the opening act, Lauryn's DJ came out and rocked it hard for about 20 minutes, playing old school rap/hip hop that really had the tiring crowd hyped up once again!FINALLY, AT 11:10, LAURYN CAME OUT! And her introduction is one of the best that I've seen in years! The dazzling lights, amped up music, and when she walked out I gasped! SHE IS STUNNING IN PERSON! I was expecting to see someone who looked like a hobo or bag lady, as previous reviews had described, but what I saw was a beautiful woman who just glowed! The red, black, grey, and gold is her color combo! I loved how she came out talking instead of singing right away and immediately connected to the audience and she stayed connected with us throughout the show as she sung and rapped her tail off! I don't know what it is about being here, but there is definitely a different type of vibe being here in Las Vegas, and Lauryn was feeling it! She had everyone going all night! She sung all of her greatest hits, and sounded beautiful! I didn't hear anything different about her voice like what people were saying in previous reviews. And being that she is pregnant with her 6th child, she sure had a lot of energy as she danced a lot!She took a short break after being on for a half-hour, but came back out and rocked it hard again. Her songs were sped up, but I liked the flow of it, and I loved how she changed it up with the rocker feel to them! Anything that gets my head bobbing is alright with me, and my head was bobbing for real! LOL! I personally don't expect for songs to be done in concert exactly the way they are on CD's- personally I find it boring if they are so I welcome the change. She also sung songs by Bob Marley and Teena Marie's Ooh La La which surprised me because I love that song! Oh, and about the directing of her band- yeah, she did that as well, but I believe that it is all a part of the show- I laughed when she did it because of all the previous reviews I've read so it didn't bother me. Most of all, she did apologize for being late and said that she hopes that we see her again, which sounds to me like she will be back! I'm only speaking for myself when I say that I will see her again! But I will plan accordingly just like I did with this show!

I attended 2011 Coachella Valley Music Festival which had Lauryn booked as an act on the undercard for Friday afternoon. I was so excited to see her, but I was a little apprehensive since she's developed such a bad reputation for lateness and for not really being able to sing anymore. She was about 20 minutes late getting on stage, but that was because the previous act on stage got there late and ran long. On top of that, there were a lot of technical issues during the entire three-day festival. Almost every act I saw was at least 10 minutes late getting on stage. Lauryn came on stage and it was evident that she was having issues with sound. In fact, Cee Lo was the act on stage before Lauryn and he had MAJOR sound and tech issues which resulted in him being the worst set of the weekend. Where Cee Lo failed, Lauryn excelled. She got on track quickly, went through an upbeat song that the audience didn't know to make sure everything was on track and to make sure that the sound was good for us. Once she was satisfied that we were happy with the sound quality (she asked us) she launched into a really incredible set. Lauryn sang songs off both Miseducation and The Score and every song was reworked and made to sound fresh while retaining enough of the original arrangement to allow the crowd to sing along. Best of all, she sounded great. I'm a singer myself, and while I have to admit that her voice isn't the same as it once was, that doesn't mean that it's worse. The new arrangements played to her current strengths and glossed over the parts that wouldn't have gone over as well. That's what a great artist and showman SHOULD do. It was perfect. She was perfect. It was easily one of my favorite sets of the entire weekend. I would absolutely go see her perform again.

I love love Lauryn Hill, I've been to her shows 10 years ago at Universal with Outkast among many. I consider her the dopest female lyricist ever! My Birthday was on 4/18 and my boyfriend got us tickets since I missed her at Coachella the previous Friday night. She was very late, which is expected, however the show was horrible. I've never walked out of a show, especially after driving from Palm Desert to Downtown Los Angeles. The opening act was bad to say the least! The DJ's were the best part of the show. The audience had to keep ourselves entertained by dancing. I would have never thought her opening act would have been an overbearing horn set for an hour. She had 2 heavy metal type guitarist playing with the horn group when she finally did come on. It was bad, the noise was awful, her beautiful voice was drowned out by all the back up noise. Obviously no sound check was ever done. Very rushed through sets.I was expecting an R&B/reggae type show, it was far from that. Truly disappointing from one of ElBoggie's biggest fans!

Had such an AMAZING time tonight! Ms. Hill is still amazing as ever! Every artist must evolve! The first set was Miseducation totally remixed but the second was the Lauryn we all know and love! Sooo happy I didnt listen to the naysayers and not go!! I waited countless years for her to go on tour and I am soo happy I was able to go. Regardless of how good or bad the show may have been, it was still such a pleasure to be in her presence! The brass band was a big surprise but having lived in N.O for some time I truly appreciated them, they were awesome. They also really added something extra to the music, as they were also part of her band. Yayyyy now time to prepare for Young Money and this will officially be the Best Week Ever!! The show was off the hook and then she ( Lauryn ) put it back on!! After all these years, she still has it and some. The dance floor and the seats were packed to the hilt and the crowd was a beautiful tapestry of every ethnic group and racial backgroud, bringing the true meaning of Bob Marly's: "One Love" to mind. Ms. Lauryn Hill is a real musician. She has so much wisdom and raw talent. The show was great and energetic. ANY poor review is based on the fact that she has had a few scheduling issues. But lets be realistic, does Ms. Hill schedule her own logistics? I doubt it. She has a lot of pressure as an artist and mother. Anyhow, how many people can truthfully say that they have never been late to work? Also, she does change the beat on certain songs as do many talented artist that perform live, it s to keep the music interesting!!! Regardless, Ms Hill still has that fire and I will love her for life.

Holy heck this woman is off her rocker! Not only did she have us wait 3 hours for her arrival, she sang for only an hour an a half. She had a crappy female dj start things up. Then she brought out another dj who was much better. He played new and old jams that had everyone dancing. Then she brought out the freaking band to play with the dj!!!! This took 3 hours! People booed (including myself) and MANY people left! Finally, when she came out, the set consisted of Bob Marley, Fugees and her stuff in ROCK FORM!!!! Seriously?! Why would anyone want to ruin good music is beyond me. Don't get me wrong I love rock music. These songs should not have been reworked into such horrible tunes. They were wonderful the way they were and she did not need to change them so dramatically. I was hurt by this because I LOVED HER! I LOVED HER MUSIC/VOICE! Then not only did she sing the song to you in rock form but then she sang the song again in RAP/R&B! That version was better BUT holy heck why sing it twice?! She tried to redeem herself in the end by singing about 3 or four songs well but her voice was done. Also, she conducted the band and crew like if they were idiots. "The lights are too high! Let's set the mood! Keep it going keep it going! Don't lose it!!!" It almost felt as if this was a rehearsal! She has no respect for her fans and her talent or the profession... What a shame. If I had read the current reviews before I purchased the tickets I WOULD HAVE NEVER BOUGHT THEM! NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY! LET ME PUT IT TO YOU THIS WAY, I WOULDN'T GO SEE HER FOR FREE... ok may be free... at the seaport or may be central park. UGH! IF I COULD, I WOULD LOVE MY MONEY BACK! Lauryn Hill came to ATL on Jan 14th, 2011. She was pretty good, to my surprise. She started out strong, performing revamped songs with pop-synth & rock beats. Many of the early songs were unrecognizable. Her energy waned towards the middle of the show, but she took a breather & came back ON FIRE with classic hits. That was the best part of the show! L-Boogie isn't the same as we remember, but she's still very strong & could potentially regain her place at the top of her game with a bit more dedication to her craft. WARNING: Be prepared to wait a while! Doors opened at 8pm. Lauryn came on stage at 12:05AM. There were no opening acts, just a DJ (DJ Kash), who was AWESOME!

All of the negative hype surrounding Ms. Lauryn Hill and this tour is ridiculous. People forget to focus on her artistry and just appreciate that. She was a little late, but artists have to go through a method of preparedness, and if 40 minutes is what she needed, it was worth it! She gave us an incredible, energetic LIVE show! There's that other issue--people expected her to sing the same studio songs without any new perspectives, and that's just not performance artistry. Lastly, she met with fans and signed autographs in the parking lot after the show. MUCH LOVE.

Show time on my tickets stated 9pm; Lauryn didn't come on stage until 12am. Being a longtime fan, that didn't bother me...but there was no opening "act," just a DJ....DJ was good but just not what I expected.... I've seen Lauryn perform 3 times, and this was by far the worst. She did a lot of the old covers, but the audience couldn't recognize the melodies....sound was up way too loud so it was very difficult to hear her. I can't think of a time when we didn't want an encore, this was not one of them....something was missing, can't put my finger on it....but was very disappointed :-( Would I see her in concert again, Hell Yeah, but not this particular series. Her shows are selling out because she's been missed, not because of the content of the show.

Artists were unhappy with the sound issues. I am assuming that is what caused the delay in the show starting. Because the show did not start on time, Lauryn Hill performed 5-6 songs. Doors were at 6. Opening acts came on at 8, Busta Rhymes put on a great show. Loved Santigold but the set seemed long for an opener. DJ came on while we waited for Lauryn Hill to come on and got a real party atmosphere going. She came on after 10. She was incredible but the sound was horrible. Then, promptly at 11 due to a local noise ordinance they turned on the lights & cut the sound. She looked confused, then waved and ran off the stage. I was pretty mad. Gates were suppose to open at 5pm they didnt open until around 545pm, then we were not allowed to go to our seats until around 715pm, When the crowd was let in they were still doing sound check... I was not happy with having to wait until after 730pm for a show to start when it was scheduled to start at 6pm. The artist all had issues with the Malfunctioning SOUND System/Microphones. The house DJ, DJ Reborn had the house entertained and up on their feet. Busta Rhymes had the place ROCKING. Lauryn Hill did her thing until the house lights cut on & her music was CUT OFF, she didn't seem happy about that as she walked off stage. I did not like the fact that she didn't come out until 1017pm and they cut her off at 11pm. I did not know the other 3 performers but it seems as if Bambaata Marley & David East performed for about 15 minutes and Santigold performed about 20-25 minutes

We got MAYBE 30 minutes from her before the venue abruptly cut the mics and turned on the lights and she just calmly walked off stage like it was nothing. She had some ok dj s but they had to be considering they were the ones filling all the time that she wasn t on stage. I m just glad I didn t spend too much for the ticket. I m really a fan but I m disappointed and I don t think I would support anything else that she does. She doesn t respect us as paying consumers so she doesn t deserve our money or our time.

The artist that came with Ms. Hill were great. Especially Busta Rhymes. However she didn t come on stage until late and then cut out on her last song. She played maybe 6 songs. Poor sound quality as well.

Lauryn Hill came out a little late. She rushed through her set, and did not even play the whole album. Her classic songs were played way up tempo, so the songs she did play weren't even as enjoyable as the classic album once was. The show ended abruptly, leaving a lot to be desired.

Four of us went and all were terribly disappointed by the show I began over an hour late, and the venue would not let us take our seats. Busta Rhymes was good, but all of the other acts were not. The sound quality was awful and we could barely understand the words that were being sung. Lauryn Hill was a big disappointment. She only performed a few songs and then abruptly left the stage without saying a word or attempting to take a bow.
