Great show. Band sounded great, Margo's voice was in great form. Nice to hear songs they don't usually play. An awesome night all around.

I had long anticipated seeing the Cowboy Junkies and I was not disappointed! The lineup was great, the perforfmance was awesome! Seeing them in such an intimate (400 seat) setting with incredible acustics, was more than wonderful. Margo Timmins took the time to meet fans after the show, and was not rushed despite just playing for 2 hours. They are currently previewing their new cd, and after hearing the new songs, we had to buy it!

I always enjoy having the Ultimate Cowboy Junkie experience. I have been a huge fan since 1992. They are timeless and sound as great as the first time I ever saw them. it was interesting hearing the crowd scream "Rock in Roll". I wondered if they had ever even listened to the sultry , sometimes somber and senuous voice of Margo Timmins before. I dont quite classisfy them as a "Rock and Roll" band. They are in a class of their own. ***On a down note. I did not care for the Ogden Theater as the showing for these bands. The acoutics were terrible and there was only standing room. For us in the older fan section that makes it hard for us to enjoy the event.

Son Volt was actually pretty good. However, we could not understand the vocals very well. COWBOY JUNKIES - a little disappointing. Could barely hear her singing until she belted out a tune. Didn't appear that she was into the concert. I love their music but we totally could not hear her singing a majority of the songs. They need to realize that there are people sitting up above and play to them as well. Venue was hot, but hey, its summertime. Could have used more stools at the top!

Liked the show. Had trouble hearing the vocals. The Ogden is a great venue. Not too hot on a hot summer eve.

Extremely disappointing concert experience! We go to a lot of concerts and this one hit a new low. The warm up band played until 9:15...they were not that good. Their mono-music and wall of guitars was very forgettable and monotonous. The main draw, the Cowboy Junkies...did not come on until after 9:45. Unfortunately, the accoustics and setup for their act was not well done. All in all, we would have been better off staying at home.

This was a dissapointing concert all around. Son Volt could have been playing the same song all night for all I know. Cowboy Junkies normally so good were so drab. No energy. By the end of the night I was hoping I made it back home still awake.

I was astounded at this pairing, I've seen Son Volt headlining at the Fox Theater, I've seen Cowboy Junkies going back over a decade, always headlining. The two of them together was an amazing night, sort of like two great but shorter shows, put together into one with no downtime to grab beer. The venue was great and personal. I would say the downside is that the sets seemed a little short for both bands. The new music the Cowboy Junkies played was excellent as well. All I can say is I hope at least one collaboration comes out of this road trip, I think both bands would grow through being on stage together. Paul

I was completely disappointed with both Son Volt and Cowboy Junkies because of the sound mixing. I was not very familiar with Son Volt's music but I had enjoyed what I had heard in the past. First off, it was way to loud. You could not even hear the lyrics. At first I though it was just me, but when they went off the stage, the crowd around me was talking about the sound quality. They mentioned that at least it would be corrected for the Cowboy Junkies. No such luck! I have followed the Cowboy Junkies for many years and I am a big fan but I could not stay and listen to their entire set. I don't know if the sound was so poor because of the accoustics of the location or the mixing but I was completely disappointed

The genius of Cowboy Junkies' style is that they can be tired and still sound exactly like they should. Margo seemed tired and admitted that she had to get right to bed rather than visit with the enthusiastic crowd after the show. She started this tour being very ill, she said. Despite that, the show was captivating. The first half was all new stuff which was familiar and refreshing at the same time. The second set was old stuff and it fit like a fond memory should. The sound in our local theater has too much natural reverberation, but it was under control as they adjusted. Though there was no "Murder In The Trailer Park", we got "Sweet Jane" and a sledge hammer version of Neil Young's "Don't Let It Bring You Down". Margo was really feeling things in the last set, and it was a fine night of music. The boys were taking the next day off to watch hockey on the bus. I still wonder what Margo did...

My wife and I love the Cowboy Junkies and have been going to their shows for years because they were always great. I guess 18 months in the studio is too long to be away from touring because this show was really awful. It seemed that as soon as the audience started getting into the music as the band played their more electric tunes, they would drop back into songs that seemed as though they hadn't even practiced playing together on. Overall the band showed no real no emotion and appeared to just be going through the motions. In fact Margo even stated "We've been on the road two full weeks now and we're really tired". Such a shame and what a waste of money.

An uncharacteristic explanation of the setlist preceded the set. I suppose to appease those who were there to hear "the old stuff" and may get bored listening to unreleased songs for the first 30-40 minutes. All in all, a good mix of familiar favorites, covers and unreleased songs were performed.

I have seen the Cowboy Junkies at least 10 times and I can truly say the we're never better. Margo was in great voice and I loved when they did requests from the Internet especially Cowboy Junkies Lament and Margo readily agreed that she had not sung that song in many years but they played it anyway she stumbled a bit but it was still a great song. Michael and Jeff were awesome. Pete and Al were great as always. All in all it was a great show.

Music is excellent however to perform in concert a band MUST have stage presence, energy & showmanship which Cowboy Junkies did not have even a little of! Singer did not even remember the words to a few songs and not one member of the band was moving to the music.. Better to download and listen at your leisure

We have listened to and enjoyed Cowboy Junkies on CD & iPod for years...love Margo's voice...BUT to say that we were shocked, disappointed and amazed in person is an understatement....concert goers left in droves and I couldn't have blamed them...but we stuck it out until the end ~ There was little to no conversational engagement with the audience to indicate that in any way they were happy to be performing for us - more often than not Margo had her back to the audience..WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT...she spent so much time, back turned listening to painfully long instrumentals by the band...dreadful at best. When she sang, she sang great...but watching the audience peel out of the building in large numbers all night and listen to the applause - which for only 3 songs was with cheering...was sadly indicative of everyone's thoughts on her performance...the audience seemed to be surplus to requirement for the Cowboy Junkies. We are frequent concert goers - this was a first for us...SO DISAPPOINTED

C. Junkies were suburb!! They opened with some newer music from their latest cd's. The Nomad series consisting of 4 cd's recorded in 18 months!! They went on to some older music and of course their signicture "Sweet Jane". This 2 hour concert was outstanding for any fan and if your tired of the same old worn out music put out by the radio stations you should give the Junkies a listen. Margo's voice is as hauntingly beautiful as ever. And guitarist/ writer Mike Timmins was fantastic. Every member of the band were flawless. This concert could of went longer for me but it was a real treasure and a highlight in my concert listening events!

I'm a EDM DJ and love EDM music. I'm used to seeing big acts like Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, ETC.. I've been to huge events standing shoulder to shoulder with crazy / way to energetic people with loud sweaty nights. I have to say this was a much needed and welcomed change for me. I grew up listening to the Junkies in Richmond Virginia with several of their songs deeply with rooted with me and the city (Oregon Hill being one) Never been to Attucks Theatre but I have to say this was my first concert where I got to sit in plush beautiful seats and enjoy the show. Building was amazing with history of past artist from long ago. Intermission was a new thing for me also which was AWESOME! To walk around and mingle with normal folk in quiet and calm atmosphere is unheard of in my EDM world. I definitely recommend seeing the Junkies should they return to Attucks which I hope they do.

25 Years, most of it on the road, and this band still feels fresh and enthusiastic. They rocked the house as soon as they took the stage. Margo says they are grateful that we come out to hear them but it is us who should be grateful that they are willing to come many miles from their homes and kids to introduce us to the new album(s) and play some old favorites with new twists. Please, Please, Never Stop! Wish I could be in London next month for the show at Union Chapel!

I had been bugging them to come back to town (Portland at The Aladdin) they informed me to check back in the fall, and here they are, what a great night. I found them a couple of years ago thinking they were a country act, I was very surprised by their music, I have no idea how to classify their music other than depressingly good, i know that sounds contradictory but they are so good i really love their music, I put it on my IPod and work outside all day to it. I am very glad they played at the Aladdin as it has one of the best acoustics in town.

Memory of Sun Volt came back to me as soon as I heard the lead singers voice. I enjoyed the words and lyrics of there songwriting. They were also a great warm up for Cowboy Junkies. What can I say other than their music being perfect, Margo, altho dropped a line or two which made things more real and a few smiles, she was just amazing. I lover her and have for quite some time. She probably doesnt remember, but I got the oppurtunity to hug her 10 years ago in Seattle on the pier after thier show. I heard several comments from people around me at Humphrey's that "she is the new Stevie Nicks" or "She is mesmerizing" I sat in the second row to her left with the ray ban sunglasses on most of the night. I felt connected to the music, the songwriting, and definitely Margo's voice, smile and sensuous style.

I left before the end, having heard only one song from the era when Margo Timmins dazzled. The miking was so bad I rarely understood a word of the lyrics and often couldn t hear her. The alleged old material was not old at all, except for 200 miles . Seems like she can still sing, and the band and engneer should have let her.

From their first song till their last the Cowboy Junkies kept the audience spellbound with the beauty of their music. Margo's voice filled the hall with rich textures as the band played each song with tempo and grace. Sweet Jane and Blue Moon felt like you were wrapped in a warm blanket of sounds. The blending of blues and country along with Margo's voice in the intimate setting at Sellersville created a one of a kind experience for all.

The venue was small and the acoustics are set up for theater performances. The Junkies as expected put on a great show. I have seen them at several other small venues like Kent High School and have never been disappointed. I have turned all of my friends and family on to them over the last 20+ years and they now have more fans because of it. The good is more success for the band, the bad is tickets are going up. I would still recommend any one who hasn't seen a show with them to get on it. You'll be hooked too. Being the last show on the tour merchandise wasn't available for purchase. I needed a new shirt. My old one from the last tour is worn out.

They were very entertaining for the evening. Margo's voice was so beautiful and the band played with sensation. The whole group is amazingly talented with their instrumental playing abilities. However, this is not a market where people want to hear their B-side tracks. Most people in this region really only know their biggest hit titled "Sweet Jane." That's the only song to get radio play around here on Alternative Radio Stations that were existent back in the 90's. Margot had made commentary she was flattered to be hosted in a venue that had a history of so many great artists. That comment lost all of its credibility when the fans were shouting for the group to perform " Sweet Jane," and the band failed to play that song. The band left the building at the end of their performance and I witnessed some of the other spectators vocally questioning "That's it?" I paid for my admission to the show. I had a level of expectation that they would play their most popular songs from their best selling album. In New York City and the surrounding area, there are many free public shows that artists don't charge people to attend. I feel that those artists have a right to perform whatever they want out of their hit songs because it's a free public show.. I feel that I was ripped off by the Cowboy Junkies. This is very painful for me to write because the Trinity Session is one of my favorite musical albums of all time.

Drove over an hour to see the show and worth every mile traveled. Margot's voice was spot on. I wondered at one point if the show was recorded until her voice wavered just once very slightly. What an honor to hear the Cowboy Junkies for the first time in such an intimate venue. It was the perfect pairing of the band's bluesy folk and sometimes hard rockin' style under the rafters of the Carriage House at Montalvo. I was blown away by Margo's voice which hasn't waned since I first heard it in The Trinity Sessions. The instruments rocked and hearing the harmonica wailing out Misguided Angel was the highlight of the night. The first set, all new stuff from the Nomad Series, was true poetry. Fairytale, We Are The Selfish Ones, and Damaged From The Start - from Wilderness, Volume 4, echoed and sank in deep. Another highlight, meeting Margo in the after crowd, like meeting an old friend. The Cowboy Junkies still hit the spot!

Well, waiting to hear Black Eyed Man was worth the wait. A comfort that fit so well with the audience and I think the band. The first half with the new stuff appeared to be a bit forced. I recognize that Margo did indicate that they were a little louder and crankier with advancing age is acceptable. I do admit to loving Demons and it is probably my most favorite of recent memory. Dissonance can be good but it did seem oddly out of place with the music of the second half. Happy to hear that they can still bring it on with a song they have never played in public. Wouldn't have missed the show.

First time seeing the group live and really enjoyed the show after having no idea what to expect. Its all about the music with the Junkies, so don't expect a lot of performance besides the music. The show in Atlanta included a few newer songs in the beginning and then switched to the entire Trinity Sessions set which was awesome. Margo engaged the audience and was entertaining and funny at times. The sound was very good and its obvious they've been playing together for a long time. I enjoyed the music very much. Their show is certainly a musical concert vs a rock show. Very rhythmic and very professional. On beat and on key throughout. The lead singer was very interactive with the audience and she had a very dry witty banter plus she made herself available after the show to interact with the audience. That was a very refreshing concept to acknowledge the fans. Great venue and a very pleasant experience . Must be a reason they have been an active band for 25 years.

I have seen Cowboy Junkies 8 times now, in several states, and this was by far the best I have seen them. In the past, I have seen them playing at outdoor festivals, and twice at the House of Blues in Orlando, and during those shows, you could tell the audience was only there to see whoever was playing, not there specifically to see Margo and the band. This time however, the audience was there for them, and the band made the most of it. The venue at Bethel Woods (site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival) has 3 separate areas for shows, and CJ was playing in the small 400 seat area in the Woodstock Museum, which has beautiful sound quality, in a beautiful setting. The band said several times this is a terrific place to perform, and it is certainly a terrific place to see a band play. I hope this becomes an annual event for them, because I"ll definitely be there whenever Cowboy Junkies come to town.

We had never seen Cowboy Junkies in person, but have listened to their music since the beginning. Seeing and hearing them at Bethel Woods -- the site of the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival -- made it all even better. The museum dedicated to the 1960s and Woodstock was great, and the Junkies and their opening act, the group "Lee Harvey Osmond," created an evening we will not forget.

First, Bethel Woods is the perfect venue for this performance. The music of the Cowboy Junkies is wonderful, of course. There stage presence however leaves much to be desired. Except for the bass player, all the musicians sat through the entire performance and if you were not in the first four rows it was like listening to the radio. The lead singer seems to be completely uncomfortable with the concept of performing. She pulled her cardigan around her constantly like she was doing laundry in a cold basement. She turned her back on the audience frequently and for extended periods of time; and when she was facing us she hung with both arms over the microphone like she had trouble standing. This is a group that can be experienced adequately through their CD. HOWEVER...their opening act was LEE HARVEY OSMOND and he was spectacular both visually, which made me feel like I was having an acid flash back and musically. His music was compelling and harmonically so interesting that I have spent most of this morning downloading his albums. Rock on, Lee.

I was a Cowboy Junkies "newbie", but now I'm a fan...I didn't know what I was missing! The music was emotional, beautiful, and compelling; Margo's voice was riveting. A great concert, and a pleasure to listen to a band for grown-ups that's not just a "memory tour" of our collective youth, but is full of current and relevent music. As for Bethel Woods, I've been a fan since it opened, but it was my first time in the Events room. Perfect venue for the group; lovely and intimate without a bad seat in the house. Bravo!

the venue had a lot to do with it but Margo's voice and the band's perfection gave me goose bumps several times.

Imagine your grandmother's formal dinning room with a fireplace and large, stone mantel. Now put one of the most personal, intimate, and talented bands there to play for the evening. That is what the Cowboy Junkies at Bethel Woods compares. Their performance was not like a rock band (see opening act) but more like art, exactly the way it should be. I have read in many different reviews about their album the Trinity Session and how they managed to "catch lightening in a bottle". Frankly I believe anytime these cats get together and play, it's lightening and the show at Bethel was equal to the acolades of that album.

I really enjoyed the show, could have been a little longer(1 1/2 hr), and louder.

Great to see them going strong after so many years in the business.

Simply the finest working band around. I see them every year and they have yet to disappoint me - excellent musicianship, Margo is just a great vocalist and they keep things interesting at all times. A bunch of songs from the new album and lots of different things from the songbook. A tad short maybe but that's because I'm greedy. Great venue for them as well, nice locale.

The Cowboy Junkies put on a great show, and the choice of the Concert Hall as the venue was perfect, giving the performance a much more intimate feel. The band was on, and Magot.s voice and performance were haunting. The only complaint could could be that they did not perform many of their older songs, but that's a minor complaint. I would most definitely recommend seeing them live, and would love to see them again.

My first time seeing Cowboy Junkies but have long admired their music - a lovely evening of music in a performance space that suited them down to the ground (I will definitely check out future shows at the venue). I can tell the new album will be a real grower for me and it was an honor to hear it performed live. Also enjoyed Mary Gauthier's set to open the evening - a good old fashioned storyteller; certainly a lost breed. Great night all around.

Going to the concert hall is like going to church. You sit in pews and there are beautiful stained glass windows. The acoustics are excellent. Add the Cowboy Junkies and Mary Gauthier and you have a night of pure musical bliss.

One of the best CJ shows I have seen. margo and the guys get better each year. But where is the good stuff from At the End of Paths Taken? Spiral Down one of their best tunes of last ten years needs to get in the rotation. Mary Gauthier was DOA. Sorry Michael and Margo but pathos without substance just did't make it.

I've seen the Junkies three times now, and they never fail to surpass expectations. An unforgettable gig. Their music is mesmerizing, moving, haunting, gorgeous. There simply isn't another band like them.

One of the best things about seeing a band live is SEEING them...watching their facial expressions, their interaction with each other. Seeing the Cowboy Junkies at The Concert Hall last night, they literally played in the dark, you could barely see any of them. During the encour, when the light man thankfully, finally, shone the light on Margo, she made him shut it off. The music was fine, melancholy and ethereal, like you'd expect, but the dark was off-putting. The hubby described it as being at a clandestine, midnight funeral. Also, it was almost unbearably hot in the balcony, making the show tough to sit through. And they didn't do "Sweet Jane," their one hit!

I saw them ten years ago. They're better now. And, this was the right venue for them. Very quiet, respectful crowd. I will go see them again next month in Connecticut when they come back around. Margo gets all the attention but my favorite moment was on guitar: Fading a single note all the way down to silent, and then bringing it all the way back to crescendo.

The show was great I love the ARK in A2 as a venue. My only disappointment was that popular songs (Miles from Home, Anniversary Song, My Wild Child) were not played. I most likely will not go to see them again unless the set list is published in advance.

This was one of the best Cowboy Junkies show ever. They were meant for small venues and they did not disappoint. THEY ARE A FABULOUS BAND. OMG!

I do recommend the Junkies, and love them, but sometime seemed a little...off last night. Maybe Margo was sick, but her voice didn't shine as it has in past performances. She seemed to be quieter, but maybe it was the venue. Good acoustics, esp. for bass. Loved the opening band, Lee Harvey Osmond...got their cd and it ROCKS! Looking forward to the new Junkies cd!

WOW, What a show. Especially being there front row center stage. I felt each songs lyrics and beat of musical notes right down into my soul. Kinda like "I sold my soul for Rock n Roll" music fusion of jazz/blues/country/rock/electric with the voice of an angel taking you on a trip and not paying for the flight:-) DEFINATELY hard to put a face value on the market price of tickets these days, if it were another couple hundred for tickets/dinner/room package deal - I'd still do it.

Both groups were professional, as usual, but not very inspiring. Gotta be in the mood for the largely morose Junkies, I suppose. But they certainly weren't bad by any stretch. Son Volt played every song off their new album, "American Central Dust", which is also pretty much of a downer and devoid of any rockers. This is the 6th time I've seen 'em and easily the least entertaining. I do admire the fact that Jay Farrar doesn t want do the same album over and over. But dude, you gotta crank up the amps for a few tunes at least. After all, you do it so damn well!

Love the Junkies, love their music...and Montalvo is a beautiful place for an outdoor concert. They are a great band with great music. Margo invites the audience into the concert wonderfully.

I am a die hard Jay Farrar fan so I knew that Son Volt would just steal the show. I wasn't familiar with Cowboy Junkies but I really enjoyed their Neil Young and Rolling Stones covers. The new line up of Son Volt really surprised me. They rocked just as much if not more than the original line up of Mike Heidorn and The Boquist brothers. In any case, if you get a chance to see them on this tour do so.

Cowboy Junkies rolled out alot of new songs for this set as well as some not as well known oldies. None from their lastest album, but 4-5 new songs including a new acoustic song with just Micheal and Margo. The BIG drawback was they were co-headliners with Son Volt and played first, so that half that house left after the Junkies were done and the Junkies set was WAY too short at just I hour and a song, plus a one song encore (total time on stage one hour and 20 minutes) which was just long enough to get going but not long enough for a full concert experience. Great Show, though and would go again.

I have listened to both of these bands for several years and will continue to purchase the music. I was dissapointed that the sound wasn't more balanced for both the bands. The instruments were mostly too loud to hear the vocals. My boyfriend and I left after 3 songs of Son Volt. I know that Son Volt vocals are always a bit muffled and that is part of their sound. However the drumming was too overpowering. I think I will only attend musical performances at the Alladin that are acoustic. I'm sorry it wasn't a great night for us.

The show exceeded all my expectations! The Cowboy Junkies were amazing. Getting to hear Margot's voice live was a real treat! The whole band is so talented and such an experience to hear play together. I was surprised to see Cowboy Junkies play first. Son Volt was very good, but their sound quality was lacking and it was impossible to hear more than the occasional word of the lyrics. Cowboy Junkies vocals were quite clear so I really believe distortion from Son Volt's sound equipment was the problem. Son Volt played well together and were great... I just wish I could have heard the lyrics too. I would most definitely recommend this show to anyone considering going!
