I need to separate the event from the venue. The event -- the performance -- was wonderful. Breathtaking. Heartwarming. Brought tears to my eyes. I'll bet by the end of the show, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Judy Collins has not merely kept her voice, she has improved it. She is magnificent. And it's just Judy, her music manager (who also plays the piano), her 12-string guitar, some lights and microphones. No flunkies to run out and tune up her instrument or mop her brow. It's a bare-bones show and the better for it. It's all about Judy Collins, her voice, her musicianship, her songs. The Wilbur Theater where she performed is a different issue. The 100-year old theater has been -- on the orchestra level -- turned into a dinner theater. Sort of. Instead of theater seating, you have padded bar stools and not necessarily in particularly good condition. Our original seats were actually in what was once the lobby and we couldn't see anything. Be warned: if you are buying orchestra seats, anything past row G may leave you with a view of the back of someone's head and no view of the stage at all. It's not that the theater is that big. It isn't. It's a rather cozy venue ... but the rear orchestra seats make it unlikely anyone is going to see anything from there. If you have a choice, take the balcony -- anywhere in the balcony -- in preference to the back of the orchestra. But don't miss Judy Collins if you have the opportunity to see her. It's a fantastic show and she's better than ever. Really!!

This was the fourth time I've seen Judy Collins in concert, and thanks to the wonderful staff at the Stiefel (and the kindness of the singer herself), it was the most memorable. Ms. Collins looked and sounded gorgeous as ever, and her accompanist and backing vocalist, Russell Walden, sounded great. Seeing them from the second row would have made the eight-hour round trip worth the effort, but for me, the real highlights of the evening were just before the show -- when my friend, his girlfriend and I were permitted to stand in the lobby and listen to that clear, effortless mezzo-soprano voice float through the building during the sound check -- and just after the show, when we were part of a small group of people invited to the greenroom to meet Ms. Collins. I am never, ever starstruck by anybody, but one look from those famous, haunting blue eyes, and I was well and truly dazzled. I'm amazed I kept it together enough to speak in complete sentences. What a night!

I really enjoyed seeing Judy Collins again, and the intimate setting of Aura was well suited to an acoustic concert, unlike the over-amped, too loud rock concerts that overwhelm this small, close setting. Judy Collins pulls you into her performance with stories and bits, and still has that wonderful voice! She struggled a little with the opening number, Chelsea Morning, but once warmed up, was able to hit all the notes, and did a marvelous job of entertaining the audience!

t was a star filled clear night of beautiful Cleveland weather at intimate Cain Park when Judy took the stage with her acompaniest. She sang many old favorites and took us down memory lane in a sequence of music from the 60's on, with some audience participation. Then it was clearly into the present where she sang the amazing song from the British U tube singer and a haunting melody reminding us of the current war and our sons and daughters. Judy Collins is one classy lady with an amazing voice for the people and by the people Her music is about humanity inspiring us to think, yet her warmth makes you want to sit down and share a cup of coffee A national treasure.

The concert site was wonderful for Judy. It was too bad that she made it into a political forum. I wish these entertainers would just entertain --I bought tickets to a concert to enjoy Judy's singing not to hear her political comments.

We were very pleasantly surprised that Judy's voice still sounds like a beautiful crystal bell after all of these years. She easily got the audience to sing along to some old favorites with her. Cain Park was a perfect setting, not too large and with perfect sound levels. We are still raving about it three weeks later.

Judy Collins graced the stage, giving us another beautiful performance as if time hasn't passed and changed us all! We were transported back to those secret gardens of the heart where we all still feel as young as once we were. Her vocal range and sustained notes held were impressive and strong. Her storytelling was uplifting and inspiring. I loved that this concert was a throwback to simple, purer times...no screen projection enhancements or special effects only raw talent and interactive engagement between artist and audience. It was authentic, intimate and very special. BRAVO!

Judy Collins came out real, raw, and ready to sing out with that extraordinarily gifted voice! I loved her honesty, her stories, and her choice of songs to share with us. The only song I really missed was Suzanne, but I'm sure she gave the best she had to give. I loved her humanness, as this was not a flawless performance, but it was so genuine that it was incredible. I felt that we were hanging out together, along with that amazing show. Bravo Judy!

So glad to be able to finally see her in person. Carolina Theater is beautiful. Very nice performance. My only complaint for this venue is leaving the parking deck. Both recent shows I have attended have had total gridlock in the parking deck for an extended period after the show. A policeman directing traffic from the parking deck immediately after the performance and opening up all the exits at that time would appear to be the solutions.

While this song was written by Sandy Denny and recorded by Judy Collins in 1968, at 78 Judy Collins is a timeless treasure. I had the emotional pleasure of seeing and hearing her perform this and many other songs in person at the Carolina Theater in Durham, North Carolina. That song in particular evoked so many feelings as I remembered those years and the almost 50 that have followed. Don't miss her as the time will go.

Attended her concert in Lake Tahoe on Sat. Sept. 9th. I saw Judy once before in so. cal and it was a wonderful experience. This time, I took my mother and it was a nightmare. Performing with Stephen Stills, it appeared that there were no rehearsals. Stephen's voice or lack of, was trying to mesh and it never happened. Judy has the greatest, most natural voice in the industry! After a half and hour of torture, we walked out. If they are going to be on stage together, he needs to stick to his guitar and let her sing.

I listened to Judy Collins regularly during the late 60's and was surprised that her voice still sounded so clear and haunting. She often related stories of long ago between songs, and it was interesting to hear about various artists. I enjoyed listening to lyrics that I associate with another time as well as the new material.

A delightful evening with Judy Collins, her anecdotes, stories and even jokes were very compelling. She sounds great and looks great! Her music, for me, has stood the test of time. We are so glad we went to this concert to hear the amazing Judy Collins! Her voice still rings true and gave us chills to listen to old favorites and new songs alike. On top of that, Judy told great, and very humorous stories, to introduce each song. A fabulous evening at The Rose. The venue is a perfect size. My only negative about The Rose, is that they need to have some Vegan options on their menu besides a baked potato and lettuce greens.

The voice is still there. Even though she's 78 years into life, her voice is still strong and spot on with hitting ever note. She did about 1 1/2 hour show sprinkled with stories and humorous banter. Backed up with only a piano player and guitar, she could not play due to a recent hand surgery. She sang all the songs we came to hear, "Both Side Now", "Someday Soon", "Send In The Clowns" and much more. Worth every penny. Go see this national treasury if you can.

FANTSTIC. Her voice is as clear as it was in the 60's. Hit all those imposibly high notes, in a wonderful collection of songs. During one a capella song, the piano, microphone, was picking up the piano's strings resonating with her voice, amazing.

Collins was in great voice and sang beautiful music by many of her contemporary composers: Bob Dylan, Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell, and of course, Leonard Cohen. The concert was wonderful and included a few Christmas carols and a little bit of audience singalong. I was less enchanted with the Bearsville Theatre. They knew that patrons who ordered tickets online were given the wrong start time of 7 p.m. (rather than 8 p.m.) and made no provisions to either notify patrons of this ahead of time or to shelter us when we arrived to stand outside in the cold and the snow. I left work early and rushed the hour and a half down the Thruway to get there in time only to find out we were early and to be left outside in the cold. Very rude.

The sound system was not balanced and had not been checked out before the show. The music stand had not been adjusted properly, Judy had to retune her guitar completely in between numbers, and she kept losing her guitar pick. She then had to take a 10-minute break in the middle of the show because she said that she was not feeling well. Her voice was flat during the first part of the show. If she was not feeling well, it would have been better to cancel the show rather put on a substandard performance. All in all, it was a disappointing show from a well-loved performer.

This is our second Judy Collins show in 2 years, not counting the many times seeing her 20+ years ago. This was billed as Judy Collins sing Sondheim and we expected a Sondheim only set. It wasn't; which was a little disappointing. Despite that it was a fantastic show. My only complaint was Blizzard. It was too long and not quite completely intelligible. Will certainly go again. Her voice was wonderful even after all these years.

Judy Collins was clearly not feeling well but made a valiant effort and was quite poignant during many songs. Whether it was her own management team or the theater, everything seemed to conspire against her getting through the show. Picks kept going missing -- shouldn't she have a few on the table with her? The music stand was ill adjusted and worse: there was no water or tea to help her with her nagging cough. No one ever came out to help - except her sweet husband to supply a guitar pick. Some may have been disappointed that there wasn't more Sondheim since the show had been billed as Judy sings Sondheim, but given that her voice isn't made for many of his tunes, I was glad to hear songs that played to her strengths. I do wish she had sung more material from her more recent albums. I think she's done great work during the last five years.

While it was wonderful seeing Judy Collins (age 77) perform - she was recovering from an upper respiratory infection and seemed weak. She actually left the stage abruptly during the middle of one song and took a 10 min intermission. She sang some songs that were way out of her range - broadway type numbers - and of course the audience is there to hear the classic songs so it was disappointing. If you want to at least see her and hear a few of her classic songs then its worth it - but I was disappointed.

For a concert that was billed as "Judy Collins Sings Sondheim", she barely sang any Sondheim songs at all -- maybe 3 or 4 in the whole program, and I was astonished that she did not sing "Send In The Clowns". She noticeably struggled with her show script and seemed like she wasn't entirely sure what to do next several times. She did say she had recently been quite sick with the flu, so maybe she still wasn't firing on all cylinders. Whoever was running the sound board did her no favors, either. Her mic levels were all over the place and often way too loud considering how loudly she was singing on her own. Overall, it was fun to see her and hear her sing in person, but this was NOT a great show.

I have always loved Judy's songs and her style. I remember her from the beginning, and saw her in concert over 35 years ago; she is still the same Judy Collins. Strong and wonderful voice and can still hit the high notes. In between songs she chatted with the audience, and hit her target, with familiar things from the past, and new comments about the future. Judy is a must see, and continues to be one of my favorites. By the way, she was just getting over a cold, and hung in for the entire concert. A real trooper.

On a cool rainy windswept day, Judy Collins tried her best at her first concert after 2 weeks in bed with a serious cold. She had to take an unscheduled 10 minute break 45 minutes into her performance. At 77 she still has a powerful voice although it was impeded at times with breathing issues. After her break, she somehow came through with a strong 45 minute conclusion. Healthy she is still well worth seeing.

Here's what I wrote on Facebook and emailed to friends: Last night Ann and I went to Santa Fe Station to see and hear one of my all-time favorite singers, Judy Collins, who at age 77 still has such a marvelous voice and a terrific range. I once had her '60's album "In My Life" (until it went up in the fire), and I still have her 1987 auto-biography, "Trust Your Heart". Cried myself silly to Sandy Denny's "Who Knows Where the Time Goes", Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne", and of course "Both Sides Now" (with which she ended her regular set). Then, for an encore (naturally) she did "Send In the Clowns" (BTW, Las Vegas Little Theater will do "A Little Night Music" this fall -- I may try out for it). It was such a pleasurable and delightful evening.

Nobody sings Send in the Clowns like Miss Judy. It's like an angel come to earth who sings her heart out and nails it every time. However you have to wait through an hour of other songs not well known and perhaps not so melodious. Her opening performer was OK but he too went on too long with his self composed songs that are never going to be anyone's favorites. I really wish she would have limited herself to her greatest hits album and we would have been screaming and applauding as we danced out into the streets of Napa. Instead we just sauntered out happy with what we had been given.

Seeing Ms Collins perform changed my level of appreciation for her! Some of her best songs were when she played the piano and sang. She is a remarkable lyricist, and is able to paint moving pictures of her life experiences in her music. Though there were lapses in her performance, she gracefully floated through them. Her voice seems richer with a dimished vibrato, which I love. A lot to appreciate here!!

Judy Blue Eyes can still sing like a bird, and after the first song, I was ready to sing her praises, but she did some off beat stuttered version of Both Sides Now, and then deviated (for some reason) from prior setlists to play (fro example) 3 songs from Steven Sondheim failed movies (you heard crickets after the trio medley). She then apologized and played Clowns but half the place was asleep. In prior concerts she had a great setlist. Her accompanying pianist advised that she skipped 3 songs? We never got them back. I came to see Judy (and that previous list). I left disappointment. PS - Her banter was wonderful.

At 76 (I think she said) Judy Collins is still amazing. Great voice, great rapport with the audience. She chose some new and not well known songs besides just some standards which was great and ended with Amazing Grace. Excellent

What a performance!! Judy's voice is as clear and strong now as it was back in the '70's and ' 80's Mix in a great sense of humor and amazing stories and you have a formula for a WONDERFUL evening!! We totally enjoyed the night!

I don't know if she was under the influence at the beginning but she was rambling, couldn't finish a thought or sentence and was telling some awful jokes. Her voice is still amazing but I felt that her playlist was really slow and boring. She did do four or five songs that were inspiring. The rest of the concert was just meh,

Judy Collins is an icon of my generation. I count this concert as one of my musical highlights. Kudos to the Canyon Club for a warm intimate setting for this concert.

We had a great time. It was great being so close to the stage. There were a few problems with the sheet music but Judy handled it well with humor.

Judy Collins sings with the voice of an angel, and when she's on stage with the lights on her, you'd swear you were seeing an angel. She is elegant, incredibly beautiful, honest, and funny. When she sang "Twilight" I looked around to see if others were as moved as I was. There were tears in almost everyone's eyes, and open sobbing at my table. WOW!

July Collins has a pitch perfect voice that glides over a huge range of notes no different than decades ago. Love her stories and connection with the audience. Such a talented beautiful woman.

If you remember those songs and that voice, give yourself a treat. The music is poetry, she provides some interesting stories in between a few of the songs, she can still hit the high notes and she and the music and were a delight.

I waited decades to see Judy Collins - and she was worth the wait! Her voice is as crystal clear and moving as on her earliest albums. Have never been so moved at a concert in my life. Absolutely perfect!

This woman, delicate and luminous physically, is a force of nature. Her voice, one of my favorites of all time, remains nearly perfect at 75 years old. We saw her at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills and she mentioned she had flown in earlier that day from New York. The concert started at 9:00 pm Pacific Time , so that was midnight Eastern time. I don't know how she does it. Her voice was perfection for the first hour and a half or so, a touch less reliable the last 15-20 minutes with frequent throat clearings. I'm 15 years her junior and I'm always hoarse after a long flight. Her concert lasted about 1 3/4 hours, and she was singing or talking the entire time. She did many of the beautiful ballads that one would expect; "Both Sides Now", " Since You Asked", "Who Knows Where The Time Goes", "Helplessly Hoping", "She's A Lady" ( which always brings a tear to my eye), "Bring in the Clowns" and some other bonus Sondheim. It was truly a moving and memorable concert, go see her if you can.

Judy entertained her audience with song and stories and they were great. I couldn't believe how she sounded just like her records. Amazing for (76). My only disappointment was that she did not sing "Someday Soon".

It is unbelievable that Judy Collins is turning 76 shortly and still sings as ethereally as she did in her prime. Phenomenal concert. Her gorgeous voice soars!

Good: She made me cry when i was 20, and 40 and 60, and now. Singers like her are very, very rare. Even more so when they connect so well with the audience. Also her music was terrific: at the piano, the guitar, and coordinating with the string quartet. The guy (Russell) who accompanied her on piano was also great. If you remember her from back in the day, don't miss this show. If you're curious about a performer from your parents' (or grandparents') time, go see this; she's a legend for good reason. She still sings across a huge range with total ease. Amazing for a 76yo! Not good: The sound person seemed to emphasize the high notes so that they sounded screechy and hurt your ears, especially during the early songs in the show. I was close enough that i could actually hear her (lovely) voice. The bad sound got better later or it would've ruined the performance. Be warned, much of the setlist may be unfamiliar to you. Most are really good; at least as good as her classics. A couple were lyrically boring.

I really enjoyed Judy Collins at Bergen Pac. The seats were good as were the acoustics and she put on a great show. Her voice is amazing for her age and she still sings beautifully. Her "stories" introducing the songs were interesting as well.

so i was getting kind of impatient,it was 8:15 and with the squishy theater seats and the freezing cold outside,i was feeling kind of cramped in a sea of swashbucklin' coats, hats and clueless people trapezing their way through my aisle to get to their seats--finally,when the show began and order was restored to our aisle only to give way to raucous, inappropriate demonstrations, the young lady, and i say young lady purposely;because who else could have been that chilling chimera in the blue satin floorlength gown that seemed the perfect exclamation point to her appearance? she started off with a rarely sung collection of folk songs and i couldnt help recall the first time i heard her on the radio in the butcher shop around the corner from georgia's place,a local dive hangout-and y'know after a few minutes,i was like,"you are my own, john riley"--when the song ended and applause began i was startled to discover that i was the recipient of some of t5hose smiles and appreciation--i dont know why but for some reason i blushed as judys voice lent a commanding presence to the vicinity-and she talked and talked,20 minutes i'd say,12 people only in my aisle ordered expresso--but it was really so ASTONISHING TO SEE THAT,HEY,SHE REALLY IS HUMAN,and funny and melodious in her speech as well--we got to know her grandmother, songs she sang as a child(performed before time left their mark),colorado life(i felt almost compelled to go out and find someone to fornicate with so i could raise the child and tell them bedtime stories like judy was telling us)-but actually, seeing a side of judy that most people probably have never seen seemed to create a friendly bond with the audience and so when she unleashed her next slew of songs a warm feeling seemed to envelope the audience, almost like a dim mist-- then of course, busted open the show with her broadway repertoire and i noticed a few undry eyes as i glanced around at the end of send in the clowns(but now that i think of it,tose were the same girls that, before the show even started, were saying,"judy,Judy,Judy".so you cant go by them all in all,it was a very fine concert and would have been much grander if my car had worked and i wouldnt have had to sclep out 90 bucks for the car service, whose driver spoke a mixture of sengalese and boptutu-

Unfortunately Judy Collins may have been the ultimate icon of the 60's & 70's but she can no longer carry the notes and it became painfully clear. In addition, she covered others songs more then performing her own which added to the disappointment.

What a pro! Judy Collins performed old songs, new songs, favorites and little known folk songs. Every song was a gem, performed with her own unique flair and beauty. May she continue to perform for many years to come!

Judy looked beautiful, her voice also sounded great. Maybe a bit meek at first, but her voice got better as the night went on. A beautiful sound. Her life story was new and the history and background of some of the songs was interesting. Maybe a little to much talking. There was some chatter afterward that she did seem to sing less familiar songs and many 'old favorites' were left out. I enjoyed them all. At the end of the concert, even as the clapping continued, it was one encore, then lights up and out. I was ready for more of her lovely voice.

Her voice is just the same as I remember it from the '60s and '70s. Clear, powerful and just delightful. Her stories about the past were wonderful and her talking about plans to record with Jackson Browne and others made you realize that at 75 her career is far from over.

While we still love her music we did not enjoy this show. There was a lot of talking - not all bad but too much - and the music line up was heavily Irish folk songs. We came together hear the songs she made famous - only a few the entire show. Her voice is still good of but her selection of music for the show as not. We would not waste the time or money to we her again.

Judy Collins: An icon in music. Her stories were wonderful, Her voice incredible. Ninety minutes of music. In a sense since this was my first time hearing her IN PERSON, I appreciated the chit chat and the background to how she "became Judy". On the other hand, there was an opportunity for a few more songs. And as my friends left with me we observed that Judy has a particular segment of the population who would come to enjoy her. It was a grey haired audience which indicates her appeal. So you say, so what's the big deal since I would not go to hear some of the contemporary artists...exactly. Well worth the drive from NY. Well worth the dollars. Always a pleasure to come to Bergen PAC

It is always enjoyable to see Judy Collins. My friend and I saw her a few years ago when she performed at a fundraiser for OPCC at the Broad Theatre. That setting and her presentation were excellent - the sound quality excellent. Saturday night at the Saban was not. It had not been clear there would be a warm up act. That act was not enjoyable. The lyrics were uninteresting and some were crude. The intermission which was more than 25 minutes seemed unnecessary and left the feeling from how much the warm up act and Judy talked about their CDs being available for purchase, that the length of intermission was only intended to promote sales. Judy's first song was not enjoyable - not quite clear all of what was off - the sound system, her voice. Her stories always charming were more rambling than usual.
