This is my second time seeing AWB perform @ the Birchmere. In a word FABULOUS! The horns were tight, the vocals crisp and the band was energetic. What a wonderful time!

Absolutely fabulous concert, my very first after listening for years almost 30 of WAR and Average White Band. The sound of both groups is the absolute same as listening to the C D, however, the live experience added another dimension and seeing the enjoyment of the audience participating and dancing to the music just made this night incredible. If the concert was available the following night we would have attended the concert again. Thanks to WAR and Average White Band. Real music presented with passion and dedication. My husband has been a fan from the start and I believe he is the biggest fan. Thanks for continuing these past 30 + years with the same integrity.

Show was excellent, Tralf needs some major clean up that building is absolutely filthy. And the wait time to see them was over 3 hours, WAY too long. But once the show kicked off they were fabulous.

My wife and I had never attended a concert at Chastain Park until the AWB/War concert on July 22. We were totally blown away by the park, the event staff, the very interesting and entertaining audience and most importantly, the high energy and level of performance by the two bands. It is absolutely incredible to hear and see real musicians playing real instruments and displaying real talent. The level of musicianship demonstrated by the bands was absolutely amazing. Anyone leaving this concert disappointed had to be mentally incapable of having a great time. We will definitely come back again and again. Great seats (row H center), great venue/staff, great audience, great bands, GREAT EVENING!!!

AWB was excellent, especially when they performed "A Love Of Your Own". But the timing was off for War. It appears that Chastain Park Amphitheater must stop performances at 11:00 PM. So the show should've started at 7:00 PM instead of 8:00 PM to give WAR more time on stage. It seemed like they were only on stage for about an hour, so that was disappointing, but it was still a good show.

We soooo enjoyed reliving the music of Average White Band and War last night. They both still have what it takes to bring an audience to their feet and keep 'em there throughout the show! It was absolutely fantastic! I want to go buy CD's of their "old" music 'cause that's when "music was music!"

AWB played their music and gave the audience what we came to hear. WAR was very self-indulgent & turned each of their songs into an extended jam session. I have the best of WAR album, and the only songs that I heard, by the time we departed at 10:45, were Cisco Kid, Low Rider, and Why Can't We Be Friends. There was a very long song "for the ladies in the audience" that was so drawn out and boring that the entire audience sat down and hardly applauded. I have no idea what this song was titled and no remembrance of the melody since there did not appear to be a melody. I wanted to applaude that it was finally over. When we left, a lengthy introduction of the seven band members was in progress, with each displaying their skills in solo fashion. When I pay a minimum of $200 to $250 for four tickets to a concert, I want to hear the songs that put the group on the charts, and I want to hear the songs in a presentation that resembles the recording. These guys need to take the cue from Chicago, Foreigner, Styx, Journey, REO, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Stones, Pink Floyd, Heart, Pat Benatar, Pet Shop Boys, Bruce Spreensteen, Bob Segar . . . . all of who present their music as we know it and don't mess around with it to the point that it becomes barely recognizable. I have seen many of the preceding groups several times and try to see them whenever they are in Atlanta. I am sorry that I spent the money and time attending this concert. For my group of four, it was very disappointing.

AWB started on time and played many of their hits and singles off of their new album which sounds like it's worth buying (not to mention the environmentally favorable "green" packaging). War was great as well, although the lead/original group member was a bit full of himself. The music quality was great and songs like Baby Brother and Slipping Into Darkness brought back of slew of memories from the 70s long forgotten!

The band put on an excellent show and the site lines were surprisingly good for the show to be in a space that's more of a conference room than a concert hall. The projection screens were a nice touch. I'd definitely come back for another show here.

We had never been to a show at this venue. We were pleasantly surprised with the great sound of this band in this venue. It was a great show and we enjoyed it very much. The seating was tight but we were on the end and simply pushed out into the aisle, as did everyone. There was singing and dancing in the spirited audience. This band was simply great. Horns were on fire.

The show started exactly 8:00 Exactly at 8:15 their equipment problems started. The music kept playing after the singer stopped singing. So why were they pretending to be playing instruments. They were off key just tired looking and sounded as such. I left at 8:30. Couldn't take it. A total waste of money and time. Below average White Band!!!!"#%*

Average White Band's performance was FAR from average. I would rename them, Outstanding White Band. Every song a home run. I've been a fan from the beginning and when my 48 year old son was asked 'what can I bring you when I come to visit'? His immediate reply was 'your AWB album'. We listened to it over and over the entire weekend I was there. They may only have two originals, but the MUSIC is still GREAT. I loved it all.

The Average White Band showed Saturday night (4/22/17) they still have an unforgettable, hand clapping, get out of your seat type of groove that only great bands can bring to the table. The lead singer sang with a falsetto leaving you shaking your head with every melodic run (Cloudy). The steady drummer, salty guitar rifts and booming bass reminded you why you loved funk music in the first place (School Boy Crush). And all of it was tied together, with what I think makes this band one of the best; by the saxophone players (Pick Up the Pieces, A Love of Your Own). The band showcased each members' talents with show stopping solos. They performed better than anticipated and really connected with the audience. This is a must see and worth a second listening. I'm just glad my first listening was a gift to my wife on our 31st anniversary. Thank you AWB!

I have seen AWB a dozen times in Las Vegas and saw them as far back as 1979 in Albany NY, then called JB Scotts. The show at Green Valley Ranch was their finest performance yet! They played for two hours and played some tunes that I had never heard before live. One tune was from the original album that was originally called "Put it where you want it" which I still have. Good luck to anyone trying to find that one now. They jazzed up the ode to Maceo Parker by mixing in some James Brown music and it was fantastic. For the encore they brought a local Sax player to play along with Freddie V. and it was amazing. They were dueling on stage and it brought the house down. Of course, like no other band they lined up at the entrance afterwords to greet any fans that want to say hello and chat a bit. How classy is that? I am proud to say that they are still my favorite group and the way they treat their fans is a testament to who they really are. Anything but Average!

It would have been nice if the venue had provided a tent in case of rain. We were outside in the rain all day and we were not allowed to put up umbrellas. If the stage had been elevated then this would have allowed people to use their umbrellas throughout the show. Also, people with high back chairs were not allowed to sit to the front of the stage and had the stage been elevated this would have been acceptable.

I've seen them 7 times now and have never regretted one show. I FINALLY got to hear Music Is The Queen Of My Soul. My all time favorite song. Thank you for such a great, entertaining, talented evening! THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH CAIN PARK...security acted like Barney Pfife all night. Tall gentlemen in front, right of stage, was ridiculous. Acted like he was on the SWAT team. If he saw ANY IPhone taking a picture, he went postal. Really? Family Stone and AWB? He is the reason we won't go back. Could have been 5 stars, but he ruined the show for many, many people. Such a bummer. Check out my video at the bottom. It took 9 seconds for him to come up to me and INSIST I stop. I waited 20 years to hear this song live, and here he comes. Hundreds of people where taking pics w/phones. If he caught you, you got his wrath.

The show was simply Amazing from start to finish! I sincerely hope both groups will consider returning to Cain Park next year for a repeat performance! It was great to Cynthia and hear all of the Family songs.

Family Stone (formerly Sly and Family Stone) was fabulous. Really took me back to a ton of favorite songs that everyone sang along to. They looked like they had as much fun as the crowd. AWB very good but I really prefer the original versions of the songs. Disappointed that the encore was just a continuation of a song already sung. Forever an AWB fan non the less. Play and sing along to my CD all the time. Venue intimate and terrific.

My wife and I saw AWB at Cain Park. Cain Park is a beautiful venue especially for a concert like this. We have seen a AWB many times. They are terrific. The opening group Family Stone also was terrific. My only complaint was the first two rows of fans who did not stand up and dance and got upset if anybody else stood up and danced near them. What a collection of stiffs!

The AWB main event was a decent show with the Family Stone opening everything up. The show started on time ( 8:02pm) but some of the house speakers weren't fully functioning. The Family Stone ran through all of the hits that Sly and Larry Graham were involved in , and the vibe was hot! People in the audience responded well and the performances were excellent with a young female vocalist that stole the show. The Average White Band performed well enough , at least the sound system issue was corrected during their performance , but their song selection and song sequence was throwing the vibe way off. They started with Pick up the Pieces but cut it short to perform an old Chaka Khan song which took the show in a downward direction. The lead vocalist was excellent though, with a tone remeniscent of Marvin Gaye. Good concert overall but AWB should have performed " If I Ever Lose This Heaven" early in the set.

As the "opener" for AWB, The Family Stone was fantastic! These guys did NOT miss a beat without Sly as the headliner. Alex Davis not only looked and sounded like Sly, but had his mannerisms down pat as well. The fact that he is from the local area and his family was in the audience made it even more special. Original band members Jerry Martini and Cynthia Robinson still can belt it out on the sax and trumpet respectively too! Great performance overall with lots of energy and soul! Average White Band definitely had a tough act to follow and did so admirably. They still have the beautiful sound and great rhythms and the vocals of former Tower of Power member Brent Carter are nothing short of amazing! They were a terrific follow up to Family Stone and made for a totally memorable evening.

The band was tight, and the sax player memorable. They played the oldies and a couple of newer ones I had never heard. I liked the oldies better.
