Magic City Classic

Fun event for family & friends! Just be prepared for heavy traffic and not so great parking.

This was my first time attending the Magic city Classic, and it was AWSOMEI am ready for next year to attend. I am from West Palm Beach, Fl and this calssic is better than the Florida Classic, However the bands are not as good as FAMU and Cookman, but I enjoyed the half time show.

This was my first time attending the Magic City Classic. I went with an ASU alum and another friend. We had a blast. Everybody was so nice! Didn't get to tailgate though...we'll plan better next time. The only area for improvement would be to better clarify shuttle service information (i.e., loading site, destination site). Overall I am totally a happy customer.

It was great! Very entertaining! This is an event that many look forward to every year. Alumni and current students and those who never attended either school all have a blast.

It was gucci, and other than mother nature with it being real cold it was a blast

Didn't like having to wait over 30 mins, before getting my tickets! The will call window was to open at 10:30am but didn't open till 11:00 so that mean standing in line for 30 mins.

The event itself is fantastic. When you combine the tailgating parties, the street vendors, and the pageantry of the ballgame and halftime shows, The Magic City Classic is a must attend and see event. Great crowds! Probably not enough ushers throughout the stadium to assist with seat assignments. The food outside the stadium is off the chain! Inside the stadium the food leaves a lot to be desired...old / stale popcorn, chewy hotdogs, etc. Legion Field is beginning to show the signs of its age and it is apparent that the city of Birmingham nor the State of Alabama are making any investments in it's upkeep or improvement. The bathrooms are laughable and the scoreboards are hand me down relics. Even with all the obvious negatives it's still a great event!

Very good MCC event including vendors and tail gates. FB & Maze went back into time. Future shows should bring in the artists of the time for more current music. No offense to The Old School.

Overall, the Classic was spectacular...as always. Tailgating was great..lots of food, fun, and friends. The bands did great...especially the Bumble Bees of ASU...where my daughter attends!!! Too bad the team lost, but it was still a good game to watch. Congrats to A&M. The wind was a monster in the stadium though...couldn't stay for the Maze concert...I got too cold...

Great FUN, FRIENDS, and FOOD!!! This was an awesome event! It's more than a rival game, it's a WONDERFUL experience.

The event was beautiful all weekend. The seats were very high but we were on the 50 yard line. The weather was beautiful so it was very hot on that side of the stadium. So there were good and bad elements to the seating but the event was fabulous as usual. I look forward to getting seats in the same section between rows 28-32 next year.

The atmosphere was great . It was a lot of fun for fans of both teams to mingle together. I did not give this event 5 stars because the stadium needs some updating. Other than that everything was great.

The jumbotrons did not work. You had all these celebrities on the field and no one could see them because they were not put on the jumbotron. The audio was awful. You only used the jumbotrons for commercials the same commercials over and over again. I would have liked to see the replays or even the homecoming queens. Please Please Please use the jumbotron next time.

HAD A GREAT TIME AT THE GAME, AT THE TAILGATE PARTY THE AFTER PARTY WITH STEVE AT BJCC IT WAS A GREAT GAME AND WEEKEND

Transportation via shuttle still needs some improvement although it is vastly improved over the first year. The shuttle from downtown did not start on time and the official there was too intent on getting the buses to stop at their designated spot. He did stop the bus at the designated spot but those of us who had been waiting for an hour were borded after people that were behind us in the line. Evidently he miscounted, or something, but the ride back was fine. There was a long line at the first bus stop and no one was waiting as you went on down the line. Someone needs to equal out the lines or tell everyone to move down. The game was as expected! The fun and merriment was great.

Very festive and classic tailgating, but could make better use of pre-game time inside of stadium. A 1hour display of some type or combination of acts /exhibits. Improve the flow of traffic to interstate hwys from Legion Field.

The Event was great. Good Seating, close to exit, concessions and restroom.

I enjoyed the seating and the game. i was glad that ASU won since they have not won a game in four years.

What a good time! The game was greatttttt! I am so excited Alabama State won, but mostly I saw everybody I have ever met in life there! Can's wait til this time next year!

The 69th Magic City Classic held at historic Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama this past Saturday, October 30th was a wonderful event from start to finish. My family took advantage of the shuttle service that was provided so that we would not have to drive around looking for a place to park. The game was wonderful; I would think this because the team I was pulling for won this year's classic with a final score of 31-10. Both bands were good, however I feel that the Alabama State University band had a better half-time show. I had fun with my family as we purchased enough tickets to occupy and entire row in the reserved seats behind the ASU band. It was just a wonderful experience and the ticket purchasing experience was also very convenient (I liked being able to print my tickets and not having to wait for them to be mailed out) sandybc

I have been going to this game since 1994 and each year it gets better and better.

It just lacked luster, appeal and enthusiams. No comparison to the Bayou Classic.

I must say that I am a Bulldog fan until I die but I was really disappointed in my team. We just gave that game away. I didn't mind ASU winning at least one, since we have won the past five years, but we didn't have to let them win by that much! And we should have won the halftime show as well. What was that? I couldn't make out the theme until someone told me today. Overall, I still enjoyed myself. It was good seeing old friends. It is wonderful when the brothers and sisters can get together and have good clean fun.

IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. IT IS NICE TO KNOW THAT WE ALL CAN GET TOGETHER WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS. THANKS TO THE CITY OF BIRMINGHAM FOR PROVIDING A SAFE AND ENJOYOUS WEEKEND FOR EVERYONE.

The Tail Gate parties was the best. The game was boring. Both bands were weak, I wish they would have given us more but they did not. The party was better outside the game than in the game. Would only attend the Tail Gate Party if I attend this event again.

I came up from the Mobile, AL area, myself and 2 teenagers. Not that thrilled about coming without my husband but I had to come see the Honeybees along with the ASU Marching Hornets. Traffic was in my favor all day. I feel so blessed.

It was all awesome. Can't wait till next year to do it all again

AAMU made too many mistakes, especially the QB....But after 5 years, ASU needed to win to make the game a rivalry again...Heck the game was not even on TV because it had become uninteresting. I expected a bigger crowd.

This has become more than a football game as I last attended this event over 10 years ago. The tailgating is like nothing I have seen before and there was a sea of people outside and around the stadium. It is worth attending especially when ASU wins the game!

The ticket experience was great (purchasing and getting in the game). I wish Alabama A&M University had won the game though.

Great as always!!!! Slight draw back thou they did not have personnel to help find correct seat . That had minor effect on a truly great day!!

Half time was even better! Honey bees did there thang!!

First time going in years, due to military duties. But enjoyed it and will attend again in the future.

The crowd was outstanding. Everyone was excited and just wanted to have good time. The first quarter was very boring and no major plays were accomplished. However, ASU started making plays and putting points on the scoreboard. Then the bands took the field. AAMU's band did an ok job, but ASU's band showed out!! The weather was perfect! Exiting Traffic was terrible. I would suggest more officers to deal with neighborhood traffic.

This review is supposed to be about the Magic City Classic football game, but it is more than just the game. It is the game, the pre-game tailgating, the post-game concert and the post-game tailgating that make up the Magic City Classic experieince worth while. If you have never been, you have to experience it at least once. By the way, I would have given the event 5 stars, but the post-game concert could have been better. Morris Day and the Time did not work for a stadium event. Hopefully, the organizers will book a better act next year.

The Magic City Classic is always entertaining and the bands are awesome.

It sad very good. I enjoyed the game and especially the concert. The good venders could be better and faster. I would like to recommend that the concert be in the middle of the field so everyone can Jan instead of being in the bleachers...also if u keep the bendita going while the conc is going on, still like to party drink and eat. Overall has a ball.

I had a good time at classic and loved every venue that was out there.

parking for handycap was very limit the parking on graymont was used for tailgating and not for the handycap

As usual, the Magic City Classic was a great experience for me and my family. My Alabama State Hornets performed well. The football team performed well and the marching bands were fantastic. Especially the mighty Marching Hornets. I must say this was my first year participating in the tailgating activities and it was wonderful to gather with friends and family before the game.

The city changed the set up for the vendors. They normally blocked off the street in front of Legion Field, so people had four lanes of the road to walk & shop. This year they opened the street up to selected traffic. So thousands of people on the sidewalks trying to purchase food & other items. A total mess! People shoulder to shoulder, ass to ass. Then, the PA system in the arena stopped working. It worked & sounded great prior to kick off. We could not hear play calling, referees, nothing. Last, Morris Day & the Time set-up took over an hour after the game ended & their mics were not working correctly.

The speakers was terrible. Couldn't hear anything.

great game, great atmosphere, perfect weather, great friends, seats didn't matter; no one was sitting in their purchased seats but there were no problems. My two buddies and I sat together even though our purchased seats were not together.

I really enjoyed the game! Asu cleaned house during the game and halftime. #Hornets

Have attended every year since 1988!! Great friends, some HS amd college classmates and best of all, meeting new friends...lots of friends.

the weather was good and the seats was nice. i really enjoy being there and looking forward to next year. I go with my wife every year and we always have a great time.

The classic was an amazing event. Alabama State band was outstanding. I will most definitely be in attendance next year.

The game was gr8! So glad that AAMU won. The post game show with Maze featuring Frankie Beverly was awesome too!

This was a great event and we'll certainly attend it again next year!

I had a blast seeing and visiting with family and friends. I also met new people during the game.

The whole experience was fun!!! Maze featuring Frankie Beverly was great. My first time seeing them live in concert!!!

The game was good, stayed for the concert after, but was disappointed when I saw they had to assemble the stage. I had tickets to Steve Harvey so I had to leave. I thought they would have a roll out stage or something.

The Magic City Classic was all I thought it would be and then some!!!!

I took my seventeen year old son,he had never been to the game. He said that it was awesome! We had a great mother and son experience.Everbody was helpful in getting to the right gate and section. God willing I'll be back next year.

The Magic City classic was just that, CLASSIC. The city and vendors/merchants went above and beyond to make the city open and welcome to all who attended. If this was your first or 70th, a good time was held by all. Can't wait till next year...

Very good show from Alabama A. & M . University and Alabama State University!!! The view was great. Long hike to seats, but he view was worth it. Person sitting directly in front of me was a chain smoker and I had threatened to call the Police from cell phone to have them removed for smoking.
