Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler

Born in Livingston, New Jersey, to a Jewish father and Mormon mother, Chelsea Handler is the youngest of six children...all good material for a career in comedy. Not only was this disappointing on many levels, but she was also born just five and a half years after her sister Shoshanna burst onto the scene and had since embraced and relished being the youngest of the Handler clan.

Would have been nice for the show to start on time, but once things got underway it was a lovely evening. The Fox Theatre is BEAUTIFUL - this was my first visit - beautiful gem of Detroit. The opening act was hilarious.

I've seen comedians go from their T.V. shows to the stage and it only feel like a rerun. She was great. I would definetly see here again soon if I could. I did think her last joke about her childhood "special moment" was funny, but, ran on just a little to long. Other than that I enjoyed the show.

Chelsea Handler was super funny! I was so glad I bought tickets to see her. Her stand- up is amazingly funny! Her opening act Sarah Colonna was funny too. They make an awesome pair to see! She was so funny I was dieing of laughter. I cant wait till she comes again to Chicago. P.S. Make sure to buy her book. You get a wristband & she signs your book after the show.

There are not even enough words to express how great Chelsea's show was this past Saturday night at 10:30! She added the extra Saturday night show because Chicago fans fill the house to see her, and we were no exception!! Her opening act was Sarah Colonna, who is a frequent guest on her late night show, and she did not dissapoint either! Sarah was funny, irreverent, and just plain amazing in her own right! Chelsea came on immediately after Sarah finished her set, and there was no intermission except for a brief video on the big screen before Chelsea took the stage. The video is best described as a series of "out takes" from her late night show doing gags with various cast mates and people on the street, it was very funny and she played really great music to get everyone's heart pumping! Chelsea did about an hour set and she touched on a variety of topics including her first experience with "balls", her early discovery of masturbation, her failed realtionship with her ex-boyfriend Ted, and her ever fascinating tales from her dysfunctional family! She was clearly "spent" from having done a second show on Saturday night, but in many ways, she seemed more plugged in and comfortable with her jokes and truly made it an unforgetable comedic experience!! Chelsea is a must see entertainer and I will see her whenever I can if she comes back to Chicago! I must say that the Chicago theater was a good venue, but beware of drinking too much because the bathrooms are horribly small, and they are not able to keep up with the demand, many women were going into the men's room because the lines were so long in the women's!!

Sarah Colonna opened for Chelsea. Sarah was very funny! I would pay to see her own show if she had one! AND THEN! Chelsea came out!! I literally did not stop laughing from beginning to end!! It was just like a friend was up on stage! The fact that Chelsea was able to sign my book after the show was the most awesome experience! To top it off most of the regulars from Chelsea Lately were there! Even Chuy was there! He rode his scooter right in front of us while we were waiting in line to get in to the show! I had to buy another book, to get a wrist band to be able to get into the signing, even though I had my own book. I was totally fine with it because Chelsea, representing the comedy ladies!, definitely deserves he book being on the New York best seller's list!

The show was ridiculous in such a great way. Sarah Colonna started off the show with such a great opening act and Chelsea Handler was so funny, I was crying, I was almost peeing my pants. She's crass, she's rude, she's loud ... I love it all. I love how she turned her life into great material. I'm now an avid fan of her show, her books and her comedy.

I am a huge fan of Chelsea Handler. I have read her books, seen her do stand up before, and I religiously watch her TV show. I will admit I enjoyed her show, but I was somewhat disappointed. 90% of her stand up was from her books she pretty much 'performed' the entire first chapter of her third book on stage. Of course it is funnier to hear it than read it in my opinion. There was some 'new' stuff that she brought out, but didn't stick with it. There were some long pauses so people would yell things out and then she said it was rude...if she could actually remember what she was going to say then people wouldn't yell things out. I just felt that her show didn't 'flow' well and if she keeps doing the same jokes over and over wouldn't she know her routine by hand? Instead of bringing pieces of paper with notes out. Also, she kind of just ended her show there really wasn't much closure which was weird to me...usually comedians go out with a bang. For the money I paid and the excellent seats I had...it wasn't really worth the money (Roughly $100 a ticket). She didn't stay after the show either which was kind of a let down, I was really looking forward to getting my books signed, because the last show I saw her at April '09 she stayed after to sign books and I wasn't able to stay. I think if she wasn't doing her book tour and TV show at the same time, maybe a little more effort would have been brought in. Heather MacDonald opened for her and she was good, didn't know she was opening until she came on stage. The only complaints I have are that I was freezing cold the entire show and I was dressed appropriately. Also, in front of my row A seat there was a ledge that was tall and obstructed my view from the stage slightly. If you are not a huge fan, you will probably laugh your butt off, but if you have read her books and things it may not be as funny. I could finish most of the jokes for her. As Chuy would say, "Pretty good....but not good enough..."

I love you Chelsea, BUT.... I left a little disappointed. This is my second time seeing Chelsea in concert in two years. I saw Chelsea perform last year at Warner Theatre and I left super excited and couldn't wait to tell everyone how great the show was. Then this past weekend happened. We saw Chelsea perform at DAR Constitution Hall. First, we LOVED that Heather Long boobs McDonald opened, it was such a better opening act and she was great. Then Chelsea came on and repeated a lot of the same material from last years tour. She even ended with the same out and that kinda sucked. Don't get me wrong, I still laughed, but it is a different tour from last year, so I was expecting all new stuff. And the cost of the tickets were $30 MORE than the last show! So that sucked too. I brought a friend who had never seen Chelsea and she was rolling in her chair laughing and I wish that had been me. It is still funny hearing the same stuff, just not as funny as the first time when she had me cracking up so hard. I would highly recommend going to the show if you did not go to see Chelsea last year. But here is the thing that really killed my mood. At last years show, Chelsea signed everyone's book. At this past show, she only signed books that were bought at the concert that night. Yes, I could have just bought another book for her to sign... but I pre-ordered my book months ago and it just sucked that the true fans were shoved out the door unless they wanted to buy another book for her to sign. Well I guess I get it. She had two shows that night so it was the only way to cut down on a huge line of everyone wanting her to sign something. But then she shouldn't have sold her book at the show and let her true fans bring their book from home and sign those. But I guess it was a money maker. Just sucked to not get her autograph. She had a book signing that day and that is when I knew you had to buy a book at the store and I thought well, at least I will get her to sign it at her show. NOPE. It was the one thing I was really looking forward too. Meeting Chelsea. I still love you Chelsea and I think you are brilliant!

Chelsea's warm up was funny. Then Chelsea came on...She seemed intoxicated, slurred her words, was kind of annoyed with the audience (not necessary in a funny way), was crass beyond what was humorous and didn't seem very engaged with the audience. Her delivery was flat. She was monotonous in tone. And where was Chewie?? She kept saying he passed away. Not funny, but maybe a little.

I consider myself progressive, but I felt that the conversation was one-sided. I really like Chelsea Handler and I like what she's doing. It's a good idea, but I don't think enough was heard from the politically "right" side of the spectrum. If the goal was to get together and talk like rational people, then both sides must be allowed to speak. I don't feel like her guest was allowed enough time to complete his thoughts and points before he was interrupted. The same would be said for the Q&A section at the end. Again, I'm "left of center," but I WANTED to hear from the GOP and Trump supporters who identified themselves. I wanted to hear from them. Chelsea said she did too, and I believe that, but no effort was made to really seek them out. Venue was great; employees and security were lovely.

From the opening act to Chelsea's last joke I couldn't contain my laughter. It was a great show!! Even after the show Chelsea signed her book, if you bought it at the show. The show was fantastic! Heather McDonald opened for Chelsea, starting about 8:20 because the Miami audience is late to everything. Heather was very funny and performed for 30 minutes. Then Chelsea came on and there were nothing held back. Although most of the material was related to her new book "Ugnada be Kidding Me" the entire night was pure Chelsea. She ended the show with a 20 minute story about a"stomach issue" after leaving Africa and stopping in The Bahamas. The show ended around 10:00 PM and I have to say that I laughed the entire time. She puts on a hell of a show!

I bought my tickets to chelsea and I was really excited to see her, I had read some reviews that said she was drunk, or wasn't enjoying herself, and I was worried, but when I got there I was completely surprised! She was having so much fun, she kept us all laughing from beginning to end. She was on stage for an hour but after she signed books for about another hour, you do have to buy the book there but it's worth it! When you meet her you can tell her anything you want to and she genuinely looked like she was so happy for the support, she was sweet and not as intimidating as I thought she'd be. Everyone should go see her!

I really enjoyed Chelsea's show. It is definitely a new adventure in social activism mixed with a bit of humor. She has guests that are on the other end of the political spectrum and they have a politically engaging conversation. The show is run in a town hall-style and is very intimate with a question and answer at the end. I loved that she is trying to engage the audience to get involved and educated.

My fault. I didn't read the description. Thought it was comedy and not more political discussion - this one, without any action as a result. Can get the same result for free going to a town hall meeting.

The crowd was embarrassing. They made several outbursts, yelledi at Chelsea s guest, and made the event tense and unenjoyable. They ruined what could have been a productive conversation

I wanted to go to this show believing that Chelsea woud be the outspoken, snarky person who knows her political agenda but the radio host out talked her. I was annoyed by the fact that she only spoke briefly and let him take over the entire interview. I felt like I was sitting at a pre election debate that was taken over by a talk radio host that was given number one seat. I paid to see Chelsea actually debate issues with someone of the opposite opniion, not bring up a point and let the radio host take over the rest of the conversation. Highly disappointed in spending my hard earned money only to see a one person (basically) show that I could have heard on radio or seen on tv for free. Also, the show suppossibly was from 7:30 to 9:30 and it lasted only until roughly 9:15. Didn't even get the time on spot. Hopefully Chelsea gives other communities a better conversation than she did at the Appleton PAC. Disappointed....

It s not entertainment. Save your money and watch a political discussion online.

I love Chelsea Handler but, for $65 I could have gone to a bar, with multiple friends and had a better time. My suggestion, bring back up facts (slides) to share as talking points, otherwise you risk it being nothing but people arguing and talking over one another. Chelsea, if you really want to understand people, live in a different city, every month, for one year, incognito. Read the local papers, work out at the local gym, walk Chunk at the local dog park, etc. I truly admire your instinct on this, (I find myself in the same type of existential crisis) I just think you need to re-tool the format.

This was poorly advertised. As a long time fan of Handlers, I didn't realize she was on a comedy hiatus and discussing politics with former republicans. The proper setting for this would have been a university or town hall. As a PERFORMING ARTS CENTER I made a bad assumption that this was a performance. There were very little details offered about it being anything other than that and it was far from entertaining.

Chelsea is a comedian, this event did not have one ounce of humor. I have been a fan for years, not of her bantering nonsense politics, but of her jokes. We left early it was so horrible.

Her show was entertaining .she borders on Lisa Lapo but thank goodness she didn't go that far. Now, that I've seen her act, which was ok, I don't have see her again. Having said that, If you've never seen her I'd say check it out.

I didn't know there was a warm-up show. Josh Wolf was great and I'm looking forward to his show on TV. Nice combo between the two of them.

Josh Wolf opened for Chelsea. He was super stoned and super hilarious. Chelsea was very funny and slightly pushing edges. The location was pretty old school 90s. Even smoking was still allowed in the casino. Disgusting.

I thought I really liked Chelsea Handler, based on her books and television show. But her standup was sub-par. I have seen lots of real comedians (Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams) and really wanted to support a female comedian. And I did, her opening act, Heather McDonald was hilarious! Chelsea was totally raunchy. Anyone can be sorta funny with sex and poop jokes. Really not at all the level of professionalism I had hoped for from her. Plus, she looked rode hard and put up wet. I know the schedule has to be grueling, but would it kill you to look like a $75/person ticket, not a $20/person Charlie Goodnights ticket?!

Chelsea Handler was hysterical. She was a lot more raunchy then I expected, but this was not a problem. She had me laughing to the point of tears during her act. And the opening act was really funny too! Definitely not for people with thin skin or who don't appreciate some dirty talk.

Show was funny, however, I wish the show start time was somewhere on the ticket or information provided. Doors open at 8 - show doesn't start until after 9:30 pm. That's 90 minutes I could have been gambling....

First, the seating was awful. I sat 12 rows from stage and sat in what are basically rental chairs with no sidearms.....any movie theater has better seating. The lady to my left was around 210 and the lady to my right was around 180. They took half my seat from me. The ticket says 8:00pm.....the show didn't start until 9:30.....and that was the pre-show. Chelsea didn't come out until 10pm. I like her on TV but this was just more of the same.....just basically complaining about her friends and staff. Prior to the show starting there is a slide show on the screen that must have repeated itself 20 times with the same pictures of her bare ass.....got really boring. I think she knows she has very little to offer in the way of a comedy routine based on the way she thanks the audience for making her famous. I would not recommend this show.

My wife has been wanting to see this show because she is a huge fan of her television show. Unfortunately the funniest part of this show was the opening act. She told way too many stories that proved to be very boring. At one point I actually started to fall asleep. Prior reviews we had read said it wasn't a great show and this proved to be true.

Purchased ticket info said show started at 8. Actually doors opened at 8, show started at 9:30 Josh Wolf and Jiffy sang about small penises for 30 minutes and Chelsea performed for about one hour. I love her on her show and have watched some older stand up as well as interviews and have read all of her books, in other words I am a fan. But this show just didn't entertain. There were parts where you certainly laughed and thought oh good, here we go and then it would just fall flat again. On her show, while she is always pretty rude and insulting, you do see a little of her other side that in my mind makes it work. Not in this show. I am still a fan, but I won't ever pay to see her live again.

I really like Chelsea, watch the show, read her books. I was so excited to see her stand up. So it was a giant disappointment that she didn't have a good act. It was basically a book reading. Everything she said was in her latest book. I went thinking it was going to be hilarious, like anyone else's stand up acts are....

this show plain out sucked! I was a huge fan of chelsea handler before - her show on E - her books, well those started getting pretty lame after the first two - but I really liked her and was sooo upset by this show. first off she was not dressed up at all, looked and acted like she didn't want to be there, used the f word for almost every joke as either fluff or the punch line, can you say lame? and told some VERY gross stories that were plain out not funny. plus she showed nasty pictures and boring ones that added nothing to the show. I spent a lot of money on my tickets and will go to the neighborhood comedy show next time and get real laughs from actual funny comics that want to be there for a tenth of the price. don't give up your day job chelsea, oops I guess you did, but really stand up is NOT you thing, like AT ALL. wish I could have rated this zero stars.

The only big regret that I have is that Chelsea didn't dress up. She was wearing black cotton pants and a black cotton shirt. One of the things I admire about her is her body and sense of style. Neither of which was displayed this event. I thought it interesting that there were a large number of gay members of the community exhibited in the audience. Chelsea had many jokes about gay and lesbians. This is to be expected, however I was looking at the expressions of the gay and lesbian folks around me and none of them really looked amused, although I was. I am not sure if this is because those folks around me were more reserved than I was, or had less alcohol in their system than I did, but I thought it was just an interesting observation. I would love to see brad wollock, heather long boobs, Ross Matthews and John Caparulo

Her opening act was very disappointing. It was Josh Wolf and I can't remember his partners name. They did parodies on a guitar and it sucked. Chelsea was funny as always. If you read her book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, the whole stand up act is based upon the exact same thing you read. She had a few different pics on the stage than what was in the book so that was cool. Overall, I think if she had a better opening act, it would had been worth $100 a ticket . We actually had seen Josh Wolf at Southpoint for $15 last summer and he wasn't funny there either or worth the $15 we spent then. Loved Chelsea didn't care for her opener.

I don't feel it was worth the money. I love Chelsea but there wa no material that I hadn't already heard on her show, saw online or read in her books. She didn't dress up or even do her hair. It kinda seemed like she didn't care much. The show also started late. Was very much looking forward to the show but was disappointed.

Seriously raunchy, a bit shocking and only for the open minded. Jiffy Wild and Josh Wolf opened and they were hysterical and when Chelsea came on she was non stop with the laughter. Never stopped laughing. So glad I didn't miss it.

Show said to start at "8" started at 9. The opening act was funny for about 10min not the full half hour. Venue was very nice, floor seating chairs were a little uncomfortable. Chelsea pretty much review her book, thought it would have more new material. Still very funny, and just the right amount of inappropriate humor.

Although the show started 1 hour late, Chelsea and comedians Josh Wolf and Jiffy Wild delivered, making up for the late start of the show. They were laugh at loud funny from beginning to end. Josh and Jiffy had a musical sketch that was extremely hilarious; Chelsea was her usual funny, humorous, risque self and did not dissappoint. The mophie stage at the Cosmopolitan hotel was a great venue, not too big, with 3 huge screens in a comfotable setting. All in all, a fun Vegas evening.
