Got some amazing seats and 10% off discounted ticket when I searched for "tennis bargains". Fun crowd, friendly players sign autographs at the end! It's very kid-friendly, and all seats in the house have a great view. The Smith Center is well air-conditioned. Just need to find some parking a few blocks away. Definitely give it a try once if you're in DC around July!

Although there was definitely a pall in the crowd due to the fact that Serena was not going to show, the Kastles still managed to thrill the sell-out crowd. The Smith Center is a perfect venue for the Kastles, and the team does everything possible to make it a fun night for the entire family. My young girls were invited down to the court to high-five the players as they were introduced. They got a free tennis racket and we all received $10 food vouchers due to Ms. Williams' absence. All nice touches. The tennis was generally at a very high level and the WTT format makes the evening go by quickly. On the down side, WTT aims to attract families, but staying until after 10:00 on a weeknight with little kids is exhausting. The post-match autograph session was great, but delayed our exit after play ended. And while I like the fact that the team wants to get the crowd involved, the never-ending exhortations to "MAKE SOME NOISE!!!", sometimes after every point, got incredibly tiresome. This has to be toned down so that the audience does not lose its sanity. Still, we all enjoyed it and look forward to returning next season. Maybe the marquee player will actually play next time we come. :-)

I had never been to a World Team Tennis event so didn't know exactly what to expect. But the level of play, close proximity to the action and thrilling ending all exceeded any preconceived notions going in. The matches moved at a brisk pace and all players seemed quite evenly matched. That the contest came down to the final point in a tie break capped it all! I would recommend this to any tennis fan--experienced or not.

There was so much for tennis fans to like: affordable tickets, seeing John MacEnroe and Martina Hingis team up, a small stadium where every seat is a good one - but... the "entertainment" aspect was so excessive - cheerleaders, dancing mascots, commercial announcements, blaring dance music between shots (yes, between shots) and a circus barker of a host who had the hapless task of keeping up a pep rally atmosphere among a largely unobliging crowd. Not sure why sponsors don't trust that fans will find the play alone well enough and good... Otherwise for the most part an enjoyable sporting event.

What I love about World Team Tennis is the close proximity to the players. You're really up close and personal. Also, the scoring means more excitement in the match. At the end, it was one point - winner takes all. Fortunately, the Kastles rocked!

I am a serious Venus fan. It was awesome seeing Venus in person and she looks exactly like I knew she would. She's long, slender, athletic, graceful, brown, and lovely. And what can you say about those mile long legs? I wish I had them. Oh, I enjoyed the other pros also. And, I have a new found respect for Leander Paes. The new venue is perfect. It eliminates transportation and restaurant problems.

I really enjoyed the event, and even more watching Serena play. My daughter plays tennis and was so looking forward to seeing her. We were disappointed that there was no opportunity for a photo with her (yes, I am aware of how many children were there). The seating could have been a little more thought out, seats to close, not enough room between numbers. Overall, the event was great, I would definetly see again and recommend.

I liked all that came with seeing Serena Williams and the host of other notables that attended, with the most notable being the first family. The price of food and drink was a bit outrageous...$4 for a 16oz bottle of water was ridiculous! I expect the prices to be inflated when I attend such events, but $12 for three bottles of water blew me away when I know I can get a whole case of 24 for about $4! The food was also inflated beyond what is customary for such an event and spending over $50 for sub par food left me a little tilted about the experience. That was our first time attending a Kastles match and I don't know if I would go again other than to see the greats. If I did I would definitely dine prior to instead of waiting until, and I would bite the bullet to get better seats. I attended the matches on 16th street all the time and I just remember it being a better experience so while this event was nice, it left me longing for more in terms of my overall experience. Oh yeah, and that whole autograph line thing was a bit of a joke because the players weren't even interacting with the kids, but rather chatting amongst themselves as they scribbled what was supposed to be their signatures! At the very least they should take the time to make eye contact and acknowledge the kids being there.

The tennis tournament held at the Wharf for the Washington Kastles is an intimate, fun, and lively experience. The play is outstanding, and the setting couldn't be better. What was most surprising was the quality and freshness of the food that was offered for sale. All in all, I would highly recommend taking your special someone (or even the family) out to the Wharf to see quality tennis played under the stars.

New venue is spectacular! Nice breeze off the water - can see action from all seats Bleacher seats not for those over 40 lbs or with a normal butt - they are metal hard and you are sitting on top of each other. Bring a cushion. Or hit the lottery and buy up next year. Great tennis. This is my third year and I plan on many more.

There are no bad seats at the Washington Kastles stadium. It's a small stadium. I recommend the last row of seats so you can rest your back on the railing. And everyone gets a free Kastle T-shirt that is placed at your seat. Be sure to pick up your free T-shirt before someone else does. I love to watch tennis and saw some excellent play. Seating - very tight quarters for chair-back seating. I felt like I was on an flight. It is a small place overall so at least you were close to the action. If you have a table you're in a great location. I can't afford one unfortunately. Drinks - $4 for a usual .99 bottle of water, $5 for a large shaved ice. As Roger would say " How does that make you feel?" I didn't even bother with the food. Bathrooms - they were superb.

Pretty exciting as Kastles were along way behind but pulled their way back, slowly but surely and it all came down to the last singles. Sam Querry did a great job and won the night. I spent two incredible evenings last week watching the Washington Kastles. Honestly, I didn't even know about team tennis until a few weeks ago. I have always loved tennis, but the venue, the team, the crowd, and the dancers just took it to a new level. The level of play was spectacular, but the main draw was that you really feel an instant loyalty to the team. It's a great way to get your kids excited about the sport, and it's a perfect for the whole family. I live 15 hours away, so I can't be a regular, but I am already looking forward to next year.

The new stadium is beautiful (not a bad seat in the house) and we received $10 vouchers for concessions that were really tasty. We LOVE the guy in the stilts who dances and keeps the crowd hyped up every year, and we absolutely adore these tennis celebrities for taking time out of their busy schedules to give back to the fans (especially the kids) every July. I BOUGHT TICKETS A LONG TIME AGO BECAUSE SERENA WILLIAMS WAS SUPPOSED TO PLAY AT THIS EVENT. EVIDENTLY, SHE BACKED OUT A DAY PRIOR AND WE HAD NO IDEA, UNTIL THE MATCH WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN. WITHOUT EXPLANATION, THEY GAVE $10 FOOD VOUCHERS OR 50% OFF MERCHANDISE. I GUESS THEY KNEW PEOPLE WOULD BE DISAPPOINTED, I SELECTED A NIKE DRY FIT SHIRT WITH A $28 PRICE TAGE AND EXPECTED TO ONLY PAY $14. AT THE REGISTER THEY TOLD ME THEIR PRICE WAS $45. THE FOOD LINE WAS RIDICULOUS. WE LEFT THIS EVENT EARLY AND FEELING VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Very Enjoyable outing...but rooting for Kastles to win. Found parking at a reasonable rate ($10). Food was good and price reasonable. As a novice tennis player, enjoyed watching the pro players moves and techniques. However, after each point interlude, the music or the cheerleader excited the audience to make some noise. My preference is to be quiet and make some noise after a good rally. Got to see one of my favorites in person (Venus Williams). Super. It was a very enjoyable outing...expect to attend more.

The WTT format is exciting and showcases a lot of tennis in one event. Seeing tennis live, rather than on TV, gives the true measure of the power and pace of the game. Coach Murphy and the players are enthusiastic and fun to watch. However, the tennis is sometimes over shadowed by the constant exhortations for audience participation by the Kastles organizers. A little sideshow and cheerleading is good. But, at the match I attended it was overwhelming, exhausting, repetitive and distracting. Still, The Kastles are competitive and fun to watch.

The event was very enjoyable. I wanted to attend the match to see Venus Williams since she's an American tennis legend. I thought she would not play much since she had just played a couple of weeks ago at Wimbledon and is not a spring chicken, but I was mistaken. She played in 3 of the 5 matches and was enthusiastically cheering on her teammates when she was not playing. I was very impressed with her effort and enthusiasm. She's a great ambassador for tennis! I also enjoyed watching the non-marquee tennis players on both teams. I was very disappointed in the crowd turn-out which I felt should have been larger since they announced that event was sold out. There are a couple of things I think the WTT should consider for these matches: 1. Do not play music during the points. It's extremely distracting for fans trying to keep track of the games 2. Do not let people enter the arena while the players are playing a point because those of us already seated cannot see the players. 3. Don't show the total game score. Seeing the total games made people think that the entire match was over when there was one more match to play. People began leaving after the 4th match because they assumed that the Kastles could not win.

So many pluses for the new Kastles' Venue at GWU, but seating is not one of them, at least for those of us over 18 years old or 5 feet tall. Talk about "coach" seats. Yikes. No doubt the seating will not deter fans like myself that really want to see quality tennis downtown. Great move, Kastles. Does anyone mind if I hang my legs over their seat? Oh, and watch your toes when the person in front of you sits down. You could loose 'em!

We had VIP tickets but it was difficult at best to maneuver the set up for this match. Only one small area for pre match snacks and drinks was clearly not marked and a special wristband was needed. No one told us that until we were there and the wristbands were located on the entire opposite side of the arena. That wasted time. Also included for our ticket price was food and beverage service during the match but no one ever showed up or asked. Our seats were very good so no complaints there.

From the hard-core tennis enthusiasts to the group of 50 or so blue T-shirted kids screaming at the top of their lungs, the crowd was amazing. I sat there trying not to be too excited. After all I am over 40 and have been to Wimbledon, but this was fantastic. I came late and saw the end of Sloane Stevens in the singles. Then, check it, I saw Martina Hingis playing doubles. When they asked us to scream, I clapped but the group of kids beside me more than made up for it. It was fabulous! They were so excited and enthusiastic that they made the match even more fun. Then there was the one guy with the almost comedic voice cheering on everyone from the "yeah groups," to the "come on cheerleaders," to the "Bobby Lea." He was so fun loving and excited that I actually got caught up in the excitement of the night myself. Watching Leander Paes, Martina Hingis, Sloane Stevens, Anastasia Rodionova, and Bobby Reynolds was even more exciting than I had anticipated. The venue was comfortable and Metro accessible. The staff was friendly and helpful. Shout out to the usher in Section 216. She was helpful, happy, and courteous. It was a night that I won't soon forget. Well done Kastles! Well done.

The Kastles provide a high quality level of tennis for a relatively good price. It is a great chance to see star players, such as the Williams sisters. The atmosphere is better than a normal tennis match where no music is played and everything is very formal. The only reason that I give it a 4/5 is because the seating and stands were not the greatest.

You have to love tennis and/or your favorite player to make The Kastles worth the price of the ticket. It is like the circus meets tennis...I find it a little too loud and distracting. But younger people may not mind. The indoor venue reinforces the decibel level. This year the cheerleaders seem a little more subdued. They now wear a tee shirt not just a bra and low slung panties and the gyrations are also more sedate. This is an improvement since many families bring children to these games. Cheerleaders need to be wholesome in this Me Too moment. I am not a big fan of the indoor play...I went to many games when The Kastles played down near the wharf and I am still nostalgic for that setting. The sunsets were stunning. Of course the rain delays and rainouts are a thing of the past so for The Kastles I am sure it is a good trade off. Also getting around inside the Smith Arena can be a challenge - you can't always go in a straight line to your destination so they route you all the way around the venue to get there from here. Also the level of play seems to have fallen off. The Paes Hingis matches were amazing and most games now don't even come close. Unless of course The Bryan Brothers are playing! But if you love your favorite players you will find something to like about The Kastles. I hope they continue to tweak the current presentation and build another great team.

The premise of World Team Tennis is to draw in folks who usually wouldn't go to a tennis match. I like the team concept used in WWT but the quality of play is poor--even the marquee players, just having finished Wimbledon and burned out did not play well. Also, the noise level its incessantly LOUD--after a while all the hoopla wears you down--we left half way through the match.

Awesome event and lots of fun. Definitely family friendly. Would have been 5 stars but this was last game of the season and the more well known players were not in attendance. Great fun regardless.

Great time on baseline experience. Great game, Kastels lost by one. Will go again next year. It is a short season, with very little advertisement. Great experience. Loved it!!!

Overall, this was a great experience. It was such a treat to see the Stars of the Tennis world so upclose. The crowd was really into the games and made the experience even more exciting. The fast flying balls and sounds, really made you want to get down there and play also. I loved that each player later gave autographs to the kids under 16. It would be even nicer if they could have given autographs to the Senior Citizens. I met a lady who had to be in her 80's, who's been to the games the last 5 years trying to get autographs. She finally was able to get an autograph with the help of a kid. Her smile after receiving her autograph was priceless, you could see her turn into a 4 year old at Christmas. Can't wait to go back next year!!!

I went to the game with five tennis playing friends and we had a great time. The ticket price was reasonable. We were close to the action and saw some great tennis. Unlike other tennis the fans are encouraged to yell loudly. We will go back again.

Not much that anyone could do about this, but I was disappointed in what actually happened vs what was advertised. Advertised tor the Kastles was Martina Hingis and Nick Kygrios. In combination with the Freedoms talent, having Sloane Stevens, Donald Young and Taylor Townsend, this would have been a huge battle. Instead, not that you could help it Nick bowed out due to a knee injury, and I am not sure why Martina did not play, I think she front loaded her appearances. As a result, the Freedoms were playing big stars and at some point, it does not matter how good your utility players are, the Kastles were simply outgunned.

Attended a Friday night Washington Kastles vs Philadelphia Freedom World Team Tennis. The entrance was crowded and a bit chaotic. Got there just in time for the warm-up. Our seats were fine - a little stiff. The evening started out great. Lots of light and fun atmosphere. However, by the end of the second match we were super frazzled. They had two men, one at a table with a microphone, and one on stilts that walked the arena. Between the two of them and the constant "Let's go Kastles" screaming, I thought we might lose our hearing. It was too much!!! Went home with a massive headache. We noticed other fans had earplugs. Cannot figure out how the player's play with all that noise. They definitely need to tone it down a notch. Probably will not go back next year.

It's so much fun going to a Kastles match, and the format makes the entire evening--every point and every game, very exciting. The atmosphere is amazing, Kastles fans are excited and devoted, they provide a big home-court advantage. Although I'm a big tennis fan and enjoy going to regular tennis matches, nothing compares to my enjoyment of going to a Kastles match!

Watching the home team play was amazing! Nice setting, not a bad seat in house! The food sold was bad. For an event like this the concessions could have been better. The refs were horrible! Need Hawkeye!

Cheerleaders. Overly loud music between every point. Simplified scoring system that removes the basic premise of tennis scoring. Calling sets "events". The idea of each set being a different configuration is a good, and a nice variation to tennis. Unfortunately it does what every American sport does and ruins it trying to make it a "spectacle" not to mention the dumbing down of the sport for the crowd. Definitely a way to turn people off tennis.

For casual tennis fans or maybe for the parent who wants to introduce their kids to the sport, this is the venue to do it. Hardcore tennis fans will sit through hours of play but kids with the attention span of maybe an hour at most will not. But the way WTT is setup, each "match" is only about 30 minutes, 45 at most. So there's lots of turnover and you get to see all of the different combinations- from singles to mixed doubles. Also, making noise is expected, even between points. The PA was literally playing a 7 second clip of music between points. Specifically, I would say that getting to see the Washington Kastles play has to to be the best bang for the buck. The reason why I took my kids was b/c we got to see Hingis and the Bryan Brothers play. We got to see some of the best tennis players the sport has ever seen and for what? $20 bucks! Other WTT teams might have a single marquee player and some don't. I know b/c I looked at all the rosters. So if you get the chance, you have to see the 5 time defending champions play! Regarding the arena itself- well, it could have been better. There is only 1 concessions stand and it took more than 30 minutes to get through it. I missed the entire first match b/c of that. Furthermore, not all seats are made equal. We had seats on the baseline but in the N row. Little did I know that the rows go up so steep that we couldn't even see our near baseline. Fortunately, we were in the last row so we could stand when it really mattered but standing for the entire time is unacceptable. Last thing I will say is- players warm-up between EVERY match. This increases the event time. With each match going 30 minutes, that's already 2.5 hours. Add in warm-ups and the entire time goes past 3 hours, easily. So be prepared to spend the entire evening there, especially since the match order can be rearranged such that the marquee players play last.

A thrilling day. Suspense to the very end. Best possible outcome. Congrats Kastles. Great coverage on the Jumbotron. Line judging still slightly iffy but much better than Monday. Even if you do not play tennis, you would enjoy this . View and sound were ok.

I had the most unforgettable sports experience of my life when I took my 10 year old daughter to see the WTT finals. The quality of tennis was top notch. The fans were loud and cheering the Kastles all the way at the same time appreciating good tennis from the Austin team. Icing on the cake - my daughter got autographs from all players and we actually got to talk to one of my all time heroes Leander Paes who was very generous with his time with his fans. What a classy gentleman and superb player. I have become a life long fan of WTT and the Kastles. Great experience indeed. I will be back next year.

This was a lot better than what I was expecting. I had read other reviews that complained about the exesive noise and cheers in between points but in all honesty that's what made it the more enjoyable to me and my family. I've played competitive tennis for over 25 years and for the last few years I've been introducing my young daughters to the sport, and this type of event helps a lot to keep the sport fun for them. I can't wait for the Kastles next season.

Fun match - but after thinking that getting seats about mid-court in the 3rd row of upper level would provide a great view - NOT the case!! nearly constant walkers during points blocked the view of many many key points and often it was staff and other employees obstructing the view - even a staff photographer that set up right in front of us during an entire game. Either limit the walking or sell those seats with an obscured view designation...

The tennis was great! The seats in my area had an overhead fan which was pouring cold air on our heads and backs the entire time! I informed 3 staffers about the situation and one of them told me that they were cold too and the other 2 told me there was nothing they could do. Don't know if I will go next year - or maybe take a winter hat and coat!

Haven't attended any matches previously so can't compare the DC waterfront locale to GWU's Smith Center. Lots of atmosphere at the Center, though there were empty seats. Just a fun evening -- and being indoors was preferable to hot and humid outdoors. Just wish parking were easier!!

This was a great event and this type of tennis tournament is a lifeline for inspiring the future generations of tennis players in the USA. I hope more professional tennis players see the value in this tournament and the number of teams grow with a more international flavor of young and old players.

The quality of tennis is fantastic. The players come to play, but also make it fun. I love being able to see a variety of tennis at the same event. We get to see women's singles, men's singles, women's doubles, men's doubles, and mixed doubles all in one night. All the seats are great. It was sad that we didn't get to see the women's doubles due to an injury on the Boston Lobsters, but that happens. I highly recommend World Team Tennis.

The Tennis matches were fantastic!! Yes, as much as it was possible for us to enjoy it. It happened that my husband and I had a hard time keeping our eyes on the game. There was a "heavy" traffic of people back and forth for various reasons (arriving late, going to buy something taking photos etc. and etc. ) by the section where were seating (Section 221, Row A, Seat 9. If we'll do it again it must be in a different section away for the whole commerce commotion. In spite of all these it was fun!! Thank you
