Wardruna

Simple set, but make great use of what there is, fits the adage less is more. Beautiful use of shadows and color on the backdrop. I wish the main lighting was a bit brighter so the members could be seen better. Sound was excellent, music and vocals are amazing - better live than just the albums. Would definitely go see them again.

Wardruna blew me away with there trip back in time using Old Norse instuments and inspiration. After many years of listening to them, seeing them live was truely amazing! The show will be a memory of a lifetime! My 12 yr old son and great friend came with me and also loved every minute. Their song Helvegen brought myself and many others to tears. The meet and greet afterwards put the icing on the cake. An A++++ of a show.

I have been listening to Wardruna since the release of their first album years ago and have waited for them to tour in North America. Thankfully it was worth the years of waiting. The sound was incredible, the seats were a great view, and watching them perform feels like being taken back. Their goal is not to recreate the old, but to use the old to create new. Watching Einar perform is stunning as he invokes the old skaldic ways of telling poetry and uses his hands to shape the story. The melodies created by the group as a whole makes it feel as though a full orchestra is performing when there are only 6 of them. Whether you are a fan of this kind of music, the show is still to be enjoyed. I cannot wait for them to come back to Boston to see them again.

I thought they were a great band in general. But hearing them live is a whole other experience!! I can't wait for Wardruna to come back to the US and the Boston area.

Had a great time a the Wardruna concert. I would love to see this group come back again sometime. This was my first time to the Wilber, it is a nice place with pleasant and helpful staff. There are no really bad seats at the Wilber that I could see. I would recommend both the group and the theater to others.

I didn't know a lot about this group prior to the concert. My wife was a huge fan, but they had never performed live in the US before. This concert was fantastic. The staging, the lighting, the musicians, and the program were all perfect. I can't speak highly enough about the musicians and their raw talent. The music has very interesting instrumentation and the performers vocals are spot on. I would highly recommend Wardruna to anyone with an interest in regional, traditional, or even tv, film, or game music. They are most well known for the show Vikings on the History Channel but the symbolic nature of their music is much more than that. They perform with a energy, vigor, and occasional ferocity that makes for a thrilling concert. I would absolutely see them again if they came to Boston.

Wardruna live was simply amazing, an unforgettable experience that I will surely place in my top 5 live shows ever. I'm not even super familiar with their recorded music, but being a fan of the show Vikings I thought it would be fun to see in a live setting. All my expectations were blown away. Every song had a different tone and vibe, accentuated by very cool lighting, where I found myself going on a journey in my mind. The performance took me away from all my cares and stresses of the world and transplanted me to some far away place for an hour and a half. The sound was incredible as well, adding to the overall excellence of the performance. I feel like I got to witness something very special and I will go to great lengths to see this band again in the future. As for the venue, I was a little disappointed. I had what I thought were great seats: very close to the stage at a table next to an aisle for easy access to the bar or bathroom. This would have been great, had the Wilbur not packed the chairs and tables so tightly together that the guests were literally on top of each other. My wife and I are both relatively small people and we both felt extremely cramped and uncomfortable. We had noticed 2 empty seats in the section in front of us that were much less constricted, so halfway through the performance we moved up to those and everything was much better. Luckily, the guest who bought those seats never came. Their loss! The drinks were also incredibly overpriced, but hey it's the Boston theater district so I expected that. Overall I had an amazing experience that I won't soon forget.

Absolutely unbelievable. From start to finish an amazing audio/visual spectacle! Wardruna is a national treasure Norway should be thankful to have, and I hope the band makes additional trips back to the US for concerts in the future. If they do, you can count on me being there!

Wardruna was fantastic the venue was a little pricy on the drinks even for Manhattan standards but had good sound.

This band is great! No big lights, effects, etc. It wasn't needed it. The music was haunting and powerful. GO SEE THEM!!!!
