Idina Menzel

Idina Menzel

Tony Award-winning icon Idina Menzel has a diverse career that traverses stage, film, television and music. Menzel’s voice can be heard as Elsa in Disney’s global box office smash Frozen, in which she sings the film’s Oscar-winning song “Let It Go.” After Menzel’s performance of the multi-platinum song at the 86th annual Academy Awards, she made history as the first person with both a Billboard Top 10 hit and a Tony Award for acting. Menzel earned her first Tony nomination as Maureen in the Pulitzer Prize winner Rent, and won the award for her performance as Elphaba in Wicked.

Idina is great. It was such a great time and I saw her at the Keswick theater which is a local theater to my house at a great price. Her voice is beautiful and she sang a great range of songs from both her new and old albums as well as mainstream songs that weren't her own and also sang songs from RENT, Wicked, and Chess.

What an amazing voice (despite I think she might have even had a little sore throat) ... she consistently belts it out and she put on a really good engaging show. A couple of "language" slips were not ideal for a lot of the very young audience that was there to hear "Let it go" from Frozen.

This is the first time I've had the chance to see Idina in concert rather than simply on stage, and she brought the love! She's very funny and interacts a lot with her fans. I suspect that is part of the reason that her voice held up throughout! People who follow her understand that her power notes can suffer if conditions aren't right or if she's nervous and don't fault her, but she was flawless in Phoenix. Bonus points for her duckie (?) slippers!

Saw Ms. Menzel on 8/7/15 in Concord, CA in and outdoor, covered venue. She was fantastic!!! Covered songs from RENT, WICKED, IF/THEN, and of course FROZEN. We were in the 3rd row and the night was magical. Despite having a slight cold, Ms Menzel was on point with every note. Cold didn't affect her voice while singing, but you could tell a little while she was speaking to the audience. The highlight was when she invited the kids in the audience to the stage to sing LET IT GO with her. She would pass the microphone from kid to kid and each got to sing a litte piece of the song. Not one of the kids were afraid to sing, not even the two-year-old that was sitting in her lap. Definitely a 'feel good' moment. The kids loved it and so did the audience. The end of the song had the whole audience in on the sing-a-long, and the adults DID sing. It was priceless!!

Idina was iconic and her show is definitely a once in a lifetime type of concert. She has this ability of drawing people in and making a crowd feel close to who she really is as a person and performer, which is something so incredibly rare nowadays. Her concert was ridiculously funny and she hit high notes to die for!! She talked to the audience a lot, danced around, took her shoes off and even took audience members to sing with her onstage. I saw some reviews talking about her cursing in front of kids. First of all, yes she did curse. She is a grown woman and at no moment she announced it was a concert for kids. True fans know her and her cursing and, quite honestly, WE LOVE IT!!! But even so, it's not like she was cursing left and right, in fact she LOWERED her voice when cursing and joked about parents covering the ears of all the "little Elsa's" in the audience. She's a BROADWAY supernova, not a Disney marketing tool. What I REALLY loved is that she let herself enjoy the moment, whatever that meant at a specific time; whether it was her asking a little kid if she could kiss her on the cheek or dancing around while barefoot. That's what you get when you see Idina in concert: you get someone REAL, someone who isn't afraid to joke and play around and someone who's gonna hit notes no other being can. It was a perfect concert in every way, and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

I need to say I already loved her. But the concert was all I could have wanted and more. Lots of Broadway tunes including from her 3 shows. She was flirty, funny, thoughtful, and her voice was magnificent!! A slight warning in that she has a bit of a potty mouth like Maureen in Rent which didn't bother me, but there were a lot of little girls waiting for Let it Go. Anyway, one of the best concerts I have ever gone to!

I went with a good friend for this concert and it was a sold out audience except for 12 tickets. Idina Menzel puts on a great performance and we enjoyed every minute from beginning to end. I gave the overall rating of 4 stars because the concert was to begin at 8:00OPM and she did not enter the stage until almost 8:20PM. I do not feel that entertainers should ever begin their concerts late simply because promptness is expected by the audience.

Despite the heat, Idina Menzel came out and performed a FANTASTIC show! She was beautiful, bold, sassy and vulnerable. She teased a late audience member who came to sit down up front after she'd already started. She got bombarded by a group of 8-year-olds during "Let It Go" and everybody got a turn on the microphone. She came within 3 feet of me during "Take Me or Leave Me" to pick out an audience member; you can tell she really enjoys interacting with her fans. She danced, she laughed, she lit up the park with her amazing voice! Would DEFINITELY recommend going to see her any time she is near you; I know I will be back!

We had two families there to see the concert...three teenage girls, one 13 year old boy who DID NOT want to HAVEto go to this concert and two pair of parents. The girls were smitten at the first three notes of the opening and by the second song, I got a kiss from my son who said "Thank you for making me come, this is incredible!" The whole night was magical, perfect weather, world class performer and a family memory for both families! If you get a chance, GO!

We've seen Idina perform live before -- both on Broadway stages and in concert. She never fails to deliver a really wonderful performance but this concert was different. This concert was more. In the past, especially in concert, she was very personable and engaging and of course, she was amazing vocally. But it felt like a concert -- someone singing songs. This concert there was something different. There was a rawness and an intimacy with the audience that we hadn't seen before. Maybe because she's had so many remarkable highs and lows this year (divorce, Frozen, her Broadway show etc) but she was very real, very candid about the songs, what they meant to her and her take on life right now. Her song selections included the crowd favorites but she also did some numbers that both spotlighted both her vocal and emotional range. It was more than a concert -- it was like getting to spend a little time with her, talking about life, love and the world. Amazing night.

Idina Menzel is so multi-faceted that one word will not do her justice. She is raw power, raw emotion, earthy, hysterical and not at all shy. These qualities and more made for an earth shattering evening. She made me laugh. She made me cry. Talent is talent, but when used with unbridled passion as she did, we were rocked to our hearts and souls. I am thrilled that Idina's newer fan base finally got to see that she is NOT Elsa. She is so, so much more. She is Idina Menzel!

This was my third Idina Menzel solo show. As usual, she was equal parts charming, crude, diva, and fabulous. Her voice wasn't as strong on Monday as it has been in her past shows but she is currently starring in If/Then 8 shows a week and this was her day off. Overall this show was a lot of fun, but seemed a bit pieced together at the last minute. There were some technical difficulties (lost sound for a bit), and it seemed like she was having a lot of issues with her in ear monitors. I'm assuming booking this show was a last minute scramble for Radio City Music Hall to fill the void left by the postponed Heart and Lights. All that aside, Ms. Menzel was amazing as usual. My friends and I had a blast.

Idina's show was unexpectedly hilarious! I was thinking we would come to a show, have some songs sung and that's that. It would have still been a wonderful show because of her incredible voice, but I was not expecting how absolutely funny this woman is. I brought my friend who wasn't as familiar, and we both were cracking up the entire time. She profusely thanked me for taking her!

Idina Menzel was amazing in Milwaukee. Although she had said she was having a little trouble, her voice was as beautiful as ever. I imagine she is one of those people who can sing almost anything and make it seem effortless. Ms. Menzel was also extremely charming and engaging. Unafraid to get a little personal with her audience. She went out into the audience and since their were no real aisles, she just went right through the rows of seats. Thankfully, the Marcus center has a good amount of space between rows. She then proceeded to make a few audience members night by giving them a chance to sing with her. Her setlist was diverse and I thought, quite lovely. Of course their were songs from Wicked and Rent, but their were also songs that I'm sure many of us did not know. She even obliged us with a few encores! After the concert, she was kind enough to sign autographs for those who had stood outside the stage door for an hour or so waiting for her, which was wonderful considering that I'm sure she was exhausted. I personally, did not get the chance to meet her, but pretty much everyone else did and I appreciate her being willing to do that. For me, the concert was an absolute joy. It is an experience I won't soon forget...and that totally justifies the money I spent to get a good seat. Ms. Menzel obviously works hard to be her best and she truly gave a wonderful performance. If you get a chance, please do yourself a favor and see her live. You won't regret it.

Idina brought her charm and Tony Award winning talent to the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio and put on a performance that garnered multiple standing ovations. She was very personable with the audience interacting at one point when someone was arriving late to their seats and she asked them if she should start over. She also had several people come up on stage to sing with her on a selection from Rent. Idina at times seemed a little fidgety and perhaps nervous as she paced the stage, brushed back her hair, repositioned her ear piece and walked around her sitting stool as she told her wonderful stories. But as soon as the music began she went into a completely different zone and all of those nervous tics vanished. The local musicians playing with Idina were remarkable. I saw many of them after the performance and told them what a magnificent job they had done. I wanted to meet the oboe player who was truly outstanding but i was unable to locate her. Idina signed a multitude of autographs after her performance on the way to her bus. Thank you Idina for a wonderful evening.

I took my Granddaughter who loves her but was rather surprised at her potty mouth at times. I was apologizing to my 11 yr. old granddaughter but most she had probably heard , but I hoped not. I just don't know why everyone has to think you have to have a potty mouth to be entertaining. Not needed. Just sing. That is what people pay to hear. But overall she is a fantastic singer / sings like an angel.

The best show I have ever seen is the Idina Menzel show. Her affection for San Francisco...where WICKED first premiered before it went to Broadway ... was obvious. Besides her dazzling voice, she is the most engaging and naturally funny storyteller! The audience was laughing, applauding and so connected to her. I immediately went to FaceBook and Twitter and shared the link to the tour and recommended people to get tickets Immediately. Menzel's presence was matched by her warmth, charm and a pair of pipes that are magnificent. LOVED her.

Anytime I've ever been to the Greek, I've always enjoyed the show. Something about watching a performance outside under the stars with the smell of pine in the breeze always makes it a good experience. The sound system is dialed in perfect; every word that is sung isn't muddied by the music ever. Idina's performance was tops, she was funny, personable, and sang an excellent set-list complete with songs made famous by her guest conductor Marvin Hamlisch. They shared a wonderful chemistry on stage. The seats weren't perfect, but for the price I couldn't complain much. Note to self, splurge a bit more for the more front center seating location. The terrace wasn't as bad as the far back center, but I would've enjoyed not hearing the vendors cleaning in between songs.

This was my very 1st Idina concert . She is my Idol and this was an unforgettable and life-changing experience . With every song she soared gracefully into the high notes and sounded like an angel in between. She had the audience participate in a song and joked around quite a bit. There was a last minute seat reassignment, which was a positive. The show was supposed to start at 8pm. It didn't start until close to 9pm. There was no update until 8:30, when the delay was due to their live filming of the show, which did not go over well. There were a number of small children in the audience, which was going to push the end of the show past their bedtimes. A few were already asleep during the show. Then Idina dropped an F bomb during a song and made an apology because of the kids. The one song that the kids were there for was the last of the set, and she did bring some of the kids on stage. Overall, things could have been managed better than it was.

Idina is incredible with kids. She had them on stage and singing with her. It was adorable. She started 30 minutes late and some of the children were already falling asleep. Not her fault, but still, for the parents, somewhat dismaying. When she sang A Capella, she has a wonderful voice. However she only did that once. The remainder of the time, the amplification was so far above what was required that it was distorted and hard to understand what she was singing. That is the fault of the sound tech and should never happen.

She was very good. The show was supposed to start at 8 and it started at 8:30. But all in all, she's the real deal. She sang her classics, songs from her new album, and songs from "Frozen". I was disappointed with "Let It Go". It was sweet that she has all the little kids in the audience come up to sing with her, but she had them come up right in the middle of the song, which meant she has to stop singing and the song lost all of its momentum. It would have been better had she had the kids come up BEFORE she sang, because the it took about 10 minutes for her to get to the end of the song, and by the point I was over it. But I would see her again. She's a wonderful live singer.

On a side not Bluehill Bank Pavillion's guest services were also stellar - thank you Paula for the seat change, when we found out our view was obstructed by the camera man. I'm not sure the show would have been as enjoyable without your help!

We decided at the last minute to go see Idina at the Fox in Detroit. I must fully admit that I only know of her from Frozen, which I do love. As a male who's been to over 600 concerts all around the world, I must say I went for my wife. My thoughts were, "Hey, she's hot, how bad can it be staring at her for 2 hours?!" The crowd was 70% ladies, 15% kids, and then me. We had great seats, and what happened next blew me away. She was freaking AWESOME! The best concert that I think I've ever seen. I've seen EVERYONE, many multiple times, all over the world! What an absolute power belter, NEVER missed a note, looked stunning, was very funny and talkative to the crowd. Engaged several members of the audience to sing with her, and then the ending where she sand "that song" surrounded with young kids. Truly a magical experience. I've never fallen in love with someone at a concert, till that night...

A late start but Idina was worth the wait! Her opener was "Defying Gravity!" She was in flawless form! Amazing voice and personality almighty! She gave it all up on that stage! Very real and very fabulous! This was a show I'll never forget!

We enjoyed VIP for Ms. Menzel and had a wonderful time. Our seats were front row center directly behind the front row VIP. I sat directly in front of the stairway leading down from the stage and couldn't have been happier. Her voice is amazing live. She is simply stunning and entertaining. I enjoyed her banter and set list from start to finish. I'm not easily star struck but Idina had me "defying gravity"!!!!

We all know Idina Menzel is vocally stunning. And she was in excellent voice when we saw her in the outdoor venue of The Pritzker Pavilion. She sang 3 songs from "Wicked", 2 songs from "Rent", numerous self-written songs, a song from "If/Then", a tribute medley to Ethel Merman & of course "Let It Go" from "Frozen". But we don't usually get to see her sarcastic & self-deprecating sense of humor. She's wonderfully funny. And she was incredibly encouraging & nurturing to people she pulled from the audience to sing with her. Overall, it was a wonderful night! If you get a chance to see her live, DO IT!

Idina delivered. She has such an amazing voice, and as an experienced Broadway performer (as opposed to many just-plain singers, she entertains. A pleasure to watch someone like this in person. One note of caution. She started the concert 25-30 minutes late, which I feel is totally unnecessary. She's not a diva, so she should respect the time commitment of her fans who get there on time.

The Idina Menzel concert was absolutely outstanding. Her positive energy, compassion towards her craft and audience was very apparent, and the quality of her voice was over the top. She is already a treasure and I believe she will also be a true legend in time. The concert was so much fun and her song choice and arrangement's were terrific. I would also like to add that the Grand Sierra venue was very good, due to the comfort of the seats, the overall leg room, and the sound system was excellent. If you have the opportunity to see an Idina Menzel concert, please do so, you will very happy that you did.

Idina was her usual terrific self. See the review on the Oakland Press website for details of her performance. She had a number of highlights, though the highlight of highlights was her presentation of Let it Go when she invited all the small children in the audience to the stage to share the spotlight. See many video clips posted on YouTube to see her various songs. There was a deluge of rain early in the show and Idina encouraged people exposed to the rain to move forward. That really helped for many.

This was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. Idina was at the top of her game and did some amazing numbers. I think there were at least 5 standing ovations during the show. It was amazing and if you have the chance to see her, you definitely should. Don't miss it!

Phenomenal talent and very cute personality. From jazz tunes to "I'm Not That Girl" and "Defying Gravity" and "Let It Go," she really put on a terrific show. Her band was full of talent as well, especially the pianist. I loved how the backup singers (women) were all instrumentalists as well. She spoke with audience members, took selfies with people up front, and had several young children come up onto stage and sing part of "Let It Go" to everyone. What a lovely, exciting event. Her voice is AMAZING.

Her show in Chicago started 30 minutes late and probably would have started even later if the audience had not started a rythmic clapping session. When she finally came on stage she announced, "Hello Detroit!". Detroit? What the heck, the name of the theatre is Chicago Theatre. Then she blammed being late on one of her kids. 30 minutes of the show, which tickets werent cheap by the way, she spent having untalented children, very young children, come on stage to perform like a grammar school talent show. Good grief. She should also drop the impromtu dance line with her backup group and fiddler. Very dissapointed.

This was our fifth time seeing Idina Menzel in concert and we never cease to be amazed or covered in goosebumps. She's funny and real and warm and That Voice! She is my Barbra Streisand. She had a new level of fury with the songs from her most recent album. I wonder if Taye Diggs needs some ice for those burns. Love the strings and backup singers this time.

Idina put on a great show. Good mix of songs In the playlist hitting the obvious favorites from Frozen and Wicked. She added a few songs from Rent which brought down the house, along with a few of her own songs. All in all a well put together set list and great vocals as always from Idina.

Great show!! Bummer that the show started 30 minutes late. Second time I've seen Idina and both shows did not start on time. I recommend that the team invest in a time management company to help.

We purchased tickets for this event as a birthday present for our theater-loving daughter. She has long been a fan of Idina, so we are very familiar with songs from her Broadway roles. We were impressed with the variety of songs performed, and also with the technical effects. The lighting was well-integrated to bring energy to the show, and we were especially impressed with the inclusion of video behind the sheer curtains for a few of the songs. The opening song, "Queen of Swords," was a great introduction to get the crowd excited about what was to come, with her use of the heavy bass rhythm to showcase her great sound equipment. The sound levels seemed appropriate throughout the show as well. The only issue we had was that our seats were in the direct path of one of the outward-facing stage lights, so there were times when we were blinded by it. Other than that, it was a great performance, and we really enjoyed it.

This is the third time I've seen Idina Menzel perform. Unfortunately, this time I was disappointed. The sound engineering and/or the acoustics in Copley Symphony Hall were dreadful. The song lyrics were unintelligible. Maybe the venue is only designed for symphonic music. Otherwise, whoever worked the soundboard that night needs their hearing checked or perhaps more practice at their job.
