My daughter gave me tickets for Christmas because she knows that I have been a fan of Janis Joplin since I was a teenager. I have all her albums. I saw her in concert the year before she died. I thought I would be disappointed in this show after I saw the understudy was doing the performance but she was amazing!!! Every song (except Me and Bobby McGee actually) was extremely well done! She has the Janis hair flick and body movements down pat! And the band was superb. So glad I went. I would go again actually.

I literally felt like I was taken back in time. The cast was beyond amazing. It was so emotional to see so many great singers being immortalized. Would see the show over and over.

Outstanding presentation. More like a broadway musical than a concert. Lead Mary Briget Davies gave a narrative of Janis Joplins life in addition to singing her songs, and wearing the type of clothes that Janis did.

This show is AMAZING! Mary ( Janis) couldn't have done it any better! her Joplin backup singers, were out of this world! Janis Joplin is one of my favorite singers and I have to say that her life and music was portrayed FANTASTIC!!!

Not just anyone could pull off Janis - and this girl did!! - Plus the band and other singers were awesome! - It wasn't pap-- it was the real deal! - each and everyone of them were ENTERTAINERS! - My husband is a bass player -- and he enjoyed it - and he's a hard one to impress - Great show!- now I'm enjoying the CD I bought that night!!!

A Night with Janis Joplin was just that! My wife & I thought this was one of the best shows we have ever seen. What a scene of over 60 crowd dancing in the aisles!

I saw this show in NYC 2014. It was truly amazing. All of the singers were great. It's as if all of the artists are still alive. I'm going to see it again in New Orleans.

One of the best shows I've seen and an amazing tribute to Janis! Wow, the woman that played Janis has some serious chops! She sounded just like her!!

this was great to see her come alive like that! it was wonderful the girl really channeled Janis Joplin. if you didn't know any better you would/could have thought that Janis never died. it was moving and exciting all in the same breath. I loved it. I remember seeing Janis when I was a younger woman and she was something to see!

Kelly, who played Janis, was amazing! I've seen Janis perform in life and Kelly got her mannerisms and style down completely. I recommend to all you Boomers out there!

The show in itself is amazing, shouldn t be missed.

Others in crowd seemed to like it. We did not. Had the feel of a low budget Las Vegas musical impersonator show. Singers were not good enough to handle the material. one star at best

Having seen Janis in my youth and remembering her as if it was yesterday in San Diego, this show captured the style and sound of her as well as can be done. There is only one Janis but to understand her with the influences of her musical history was wonderful to see and hear. The cast was amazing! Thanks for a great night.

Music was incredible. It was like what I imagine it would have been at a Janis concert, minus a few more hippies and a lot more drugs! This crowd was very tame! I was too young when she was alive but loved her music. So glad I was able to go!

My friends and I went to the show thinking it was a tribute concert. It was so much more, a great production. She took us back to some really good times. It was great hearing songs from her mentors and the band was fantastic. They had almost everyone out of the seats clapping and singing along. In spite of the people (old fuddy duddies) in front of us that didn't seem right for this show, we had a great time.

It was an amazing performance and narrated story of Janis Joplin's Life. Very entertaining and never boring. The theater is quaint and the seats are comfortable. I would recommend this show and this venue anytime! Bravo! Dr.T

We enjoyed this show very much. Kelly did a fantastic job playing Janis. Not only did she sing like Janis, she also moved like her. The entire band was outstanding. They really sounded just like "Big Brother and the Holding Company". All the other singers who portrayed Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith, Odetta, were all fantastic. Our seats were 6 rows from the stage, which made the experience even more exciting. The Parker Playhouse is set up nice, and it seems like a good view no matter where your seat are located. I would see other shows there. And I would see "A night with Janis Joplin" again, for sure.

My review is not amazing because it was not what I expected. This turned out to be a broadway production with a lot of dialog and I was expecting a tribute concert with her old songs, not the story of how she developed her music with all of the other stars that influenced her. It was a great production with great talent, just not what I expected. Wouldn't recommend it if you're looking to hear her songs.

This was undeniably one of the best shows I've ever attended. Mary Bridget Davies was unbelievable. I felt as though she was Janis herself. And all the singers that represented Janis's muses were awesome. Great Great show!! The Parker Playhouse was superb. Easy to get to, easy to park, great seats (3rd row center) and even easy to leave when the show was over. I wish I could do this again.

This show, staring Kelly McIntyre, was terrific. Kelly made me feel that Janis was actually in the room. The cast of singers was superb and the band was excellent. If this show comes to a venue near you and you have the slightest interest in Janis Joplin, do not miss it. You will not regret it.

We saw A Night with Janis Joplin and really enjoyed it. The music transported us back to our youth! Singers and musicians were outstanding and told the story of the music that influenced Janis. Great show. Highly recommend.

This show was really great, the set was great, the performers were great, and of course the music was great. I grew up during Janis' time and actually had the experience to see her perform live, the magic of her performing and the magic of the time was truly captured in this show. I think they should move the show to Vegas for a long run so we and others can experience it again.

Everything about this show was wonderful. "Janis" had an incredible voice, the other singers had voices from another world. The backing band was terrific also. One minor complaint is the guitar volume being very low, imperceptible at times. Other than that, perfect!

AT 92 YEARS YOUNG AND HAVING SEEN BETWEEN A 100-150 CONCERTS IN MY TIME II WOULD RATE THIS CONCERT AS ONE OF MY TOP 5.

I am a big fan of Janis Joplin. The show was absolutely outstanding! The chick that played Janis Joplin was a spot on match, both her looks and her voice. She even moved like Janis. The entire band was also excellent. The brass section played just like the band in the old You-tube videos from Janis' performances. And of course all the girls that took on the roles of Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Betsy Smith, and Odetta were fantastic. The rest of the performers were just great. All of them. Our seats were six row from the stage. The sound was great. The way the show was put together can not be beat. I would go and see it again and again. I'm so glad I had this experience. I recommend this performance to all, even you only like Janis Joplin a little, the show is still worth seeing.

I have been a fan of Janis Joplin ever since I was a teenager and believe me, that was a long time ago. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see her in person. When my wife and I attended the Evening with Janis Joplin starring Kelly McIntyre, I truly believe that we came as close to the real thing as possible. The production gave us the feeling that we were attending a live concert with the real Janis. It took us thru the various stages of Janis' career and her evolution from bar band blues singer to one of the greatest rock icons of my generation. Kelly was able to channel Janis thru her performance and she was able to re-produce the voice qualities that made Janis a standout above so many other performers in the rock and roll world. We had fourth row seats so we were able to see all of the subtle facial expressions that Kelly exhibited. Her band was outstanding at capturing the sound of Big Brother & the Holding Company as well as other bands that Janis worked with. Aurianna Angelique, Ashley Tamar DAvis and Tawny Dolley were outstanding in their portrayals of many of the Blues and Soul singers who had such a strong influence on Janis' career. All of the hits that my wife and I were hoping to hear were performed during the show and we left the theater feeling as if we had been transported back in time to our youth. I would highly recommend this show to anyone who had a love for Janis and her music

The woman playing Janis has a beautiful understanding of her voice and mannerisms. I loved all the blues singers. The band was really tight, well done!

One of the most incredible performances I've ever seen. I felt like I was watching Janis on stage hanging out and performing. Learning the roots of her love of music. She looked and sounded exactly like her!!! Brilliantly done!!!

Amazing! I went with 8 people and we all loved it. Great energy, they had the entire audience up dancing and feeling the music.The entire cast was so talented. It's the kind of show that you feel good when you leave, definitely go see it!

We were seated dead center row 2. The band was fabulous. Janis was great. The entire show with all the singers was breathtaking. I would recommend this show to every rocker out there.

Not only the story of Janis Joplin, but a history of the women of the blues. Show greatly exceeded our expectations. It's a must see for any blues fan.

DO NOT MISS SEEING THIS! This show is overflowing with talent, and would pay to go see the weakest link in the production if anyone could find one. Mary Bridgett Davies WAS Janis!! Her portrayal was eerily phenomenal! Everyone in the cast was exceptional!

It was the most amazing concert I've every been to! I don't know how she can keep up the high level of intensity and energy she does, but it's unforgettable! I felt like it really was Janis Joplin in front of me! Her voice is amazing!! The energy was amazing and my head is still spinning from how much I enjoyed this. I sure hope it comes back around to Chicago very soon, I'd go every time and I'm going to look to see the touring schedule as I'd travel to see this!

A great show. Story, actors, songs, production, and everything else about this show was great. Only problem we had was a couple of patrons. Some people just will not respect the rights of other people.

Absolutely Horrible! The performers mask the lack of talent or voice by excruciatingly high Volume and psychedelic blinking lights. There was absolutely nothing Janus Joplin about it.They would better serve her memories by using `an actual voice recording of her. I know Rock and Blues and that was not it!! left after the 1 st act blinded and deafened by the special effects. just to think that someone has an audacity to charge $70 per ticket for this is mind boggling

This was the 10th time I ve seen this show, and I never get tired of it. I would go every week if I could!!

The Saban Theater is great. The show was wonderful, and the music was fantastic. My friend and I really enjoyed it.

What an amazing show. I got chills and goosebumps through the performances. Even my dad who s usually not impressed jumped up and started to clap and dance I highly recommend this show to anyone.

This is mot the first time I have seen this show! And it seems to improve every time like fine wine with age! The whole troop were fantastic, the theater staff, The fresh pop corn. And to Kelly McIntyre for giving a120 %!!!! Your Foot & the drummer were spot on. I hope you will be in this area again? I know I will spend my $ to see the show! I love this show as I get to wear my Tie Dye T-shirt. CANDY MAN DAN>

My wife and i have never been to the Saban theater, and didnt know the area very well. We arrived an hour early and to our surprise, found a bar right next door, The Hill Bar. We had dinner and a few drinks. We headed to the theater, and saw that it was a smaller venue. All of the seats had a good view of the stage. The show was outstanding!. It was about how Janis Joplin was exposed to music, and what influenced her style. I expected a hard rock type of singing, but heard a lot of jazz and soul music. All of the singers were great, and i would highly recommend it to anyone. The music had a lot of people dancing. The lead singer did a great job acting and singing. Bottom line, we had a great night out, and would do it again :)..ps theres an underground parking lot across the street from the theater for $12.

It was an amazing concert with so much talent on one stage - from Janis (Kelly McIntyre, who was crazy-good) and the voices of Aretha, etc. The band was so good. I was on my feet and felt like I was a real Janis Joplin concert. Loved how they incorporated her talking about her life and the inspirations of her Mom's love of show tunes and how the blues and Aretha shaped her music. Got to know her and truly appreciate her voice and talent. Recommend it highly!

A Night With Janis Joplin was super amazing! The singers were unbelievable! The woman who acted as Janis and sang her songs was phenomenal!!! She was singing her heart out!!! and her voice out, poor thing! Both my husband and I thought it was an exceptional show and was pleasantly surprised! The other singers were great and so was the band! We had a wonderful evening!

This spectacular show was so much more than we expected. We knew that it would be a "Janis Joplin" concert. But this concert is not only a rocking concert by an amazingly talented performer who really nails it. This is also Janis telling her life story, about her childhood, her experiences as a young adult, and her musical influences. The really amazing thing is that her idols, the iconic women of blues and soul, come to life and perform in their unique styles. We also see Janis take some of these songs and sing them on her unique high energy rock/blues style. It's a wonderful show - packed with superior talent. Highly recommended.

Bought these tickets a long time ago as show was rescheduled from Oct. It was worth the wait! The music, the singing, the costumes were all spot on! But seriously! The voice on the actress playing Janis Joplin was outstanding! Gave me goosebumps time and again. Great show for Joplin fans!

The voice & look wasn't there. Janis' voice was a touch more gritty & her hair was more oily or stringy. I never thought I was transported back to her period. I lived through that period and was a big Janis fan but the show didn't "take me back." On the positive side, the mannerisms and energy were very accurate. The title of the show should be, "A Night with Kelly Mcintyer doing her best imitating Janis Joplin."

I went to this event simply because I am a die-hard Janice fan. I expected good, but I never expected it to be so great!!! The band was powerful, each and every singer in the troup was magnificent - incredibly great voices. The woman who channeled Janice did just that - in speech, mannerism, language, and especially her passion. Her strong voice rang out, filled with the passion for the music that I just know Janice felt in her short life. It is a wonderful show - highly recommend it!

We've had tickets since the first day they went on sale and have been anxiously waiting to see this show. All four of us LOVED this outstanding show! Anyone on the fence about going should get the ticket and go, you'll be impressed!

ALL of the singers and musicians were amazing! The lead for Janis Joplin was dead on with vocals and personality. We were definitely blown away as this show was so much more than expected. Its a must see for any fans of Janis Joplin and was well worth the money. Too bad it was only in New Orleans for 1 day.. It would have gotten a continued large turn out if it was here for longer.. Great job to the choreographer and all entertainers that were part of the show - including the musicians who were also dead on par with their music!

everything was authentic - the singing, the speaking voice, the body language, the attire! boys in the band could have been dressed a little more vintage, but guitar skills were stellar. performances by other singers representing Janis' musical influences were not what I came to see, but clearly showed how her songs and soul were shaped. if you love this era, you'll love this show!!

I was not a Janis fan until I saw this show! this show was truley amazing and they did Janis Joplin full justice they did a beautiful job portraying her....

If you go, do not forget ear plugs for ear protection. Way too loud! Cast put a great deal of effort into the show and it was very good except for the over the top volume of the Janis numbers. Unless you already know the lyrics you will not be able to understand any of them, but I guess a fan would know them all.

Mary Bridget Davies WAS Janis Joplin! Not an actress portraying her. And, my god, that voice! The whole play was phenomenal! The band was perfect, the other ladies had great voices. All in all, the best I've ever seen, and I've been to many others. Would go again tonight if I could! The best.

Outstanding show. I went in expecting to hear some good music. Instead I heard GREAT music, and learned a good bit of history. Any of the background singers could easily have had their own show.

It was a GREAT performance by all. The band rocked, the back up singers were great, and Janis Joplin WAS Janis Joplin. Absolute 5 Star perfromance.

What a performance. Almost indescribable. Her vocals and conversation with the audience made me feel like I was watching and hearing Janis reincarnated. If anyone has the opportunity to see Mary Bridget Davies' Broadway Show, see it, pay no attention to the cost, its worth every dollar.

It was awesome!!!! Wish we would have heard about it sooner cause I would love to have been closer. The music was awesome from in the balcony but could not really get hold of the performers. And actually the theatre balcony was not full so I truly think more advertising would have been great. I was telling people on Tuesday how good it was and they all said they had not known about it.

Rarely have I had so much fun at a play. Voices were incredible and Mary was so good as Janis that people forgot Janis had been dead for 46 years and were chanting we love you Janis .I will see it again

I bought the tickets not sure what to expect, is this a play? a concert? a bio? I went with my sister and daughter who are as big of fans of Joplin as I am. I was grinning from the moment the lights went down until the last bow at the end of the show. It was great entertainment, it takes you through Janis's influence's as a blue's singer, and these ladies could belt them out like the real deal, up to her love of standing in front of an audience giving all she had with her songs that made her famous. It's a journey of music, her music, not drugs, sordid ugly hearsay, but real meaningful information about a girl from Texas with unbelievable odds against her. Mary Bridget Davies is Janis, she becomes her in every way. Her voice, movements, dancing, stories, she is so much in character that it's easy to forget she's not really Janis. Do Yourself a Favor....Spend A Night With Janis Joplin

Would swear Janis was back on stage. Exciting, energizing performance. No way to stay seated - get on your feet and ROCK! Like reliving the unique 60's.

Totally enjoyed A Night With Janis Joplin. The night flew by with lots of good music. She does a great job of bringing you back to the days of real Rock n Roll.

I thought I knew what I had purchased tickets for BUT that quickly changed. This was not a Janis Joplin night of hits & review ... way too much reflection on prior influences (?) and not enough Janis. Band was very good. Was so excited to hear opening of "Combination of the Two" but it quickly went downhill & changed to an Arethra-Franklin DooWop song. Disappointed.

Having been a Joplin fan since I was 13, I try to see anything that pertains to her music & life. This show, after a recent run on Broadway, is on the road & stopped at the Saenger in New Orleans on Monday night. Tony-nominated Mary Bridget Davies was a force of nature, & she & the rest of the fine cast basically blew the roof off the theater! Resembling the blues belter in both appearance & voice, Miss Davies ripped through many of Joplin's repertoire, matching her intensity & passion on each one. The show was about Janis' influences that lead to her singing style; everyone from Etta James, Odetta, & Bessie Smith, to the Chantels were featured. All of the women who played the different singers delivered top-notch interpretations of the material, & the large back-up band was spot-on as well. Of course, this couldn't be about anybody but Janis Joplin, & what I witnessed was nothing short of amazing - I was numb & exhausted when they finally closed the night down. Of particular note, Ms. Davies seemed genuinely surprised at the reception she got in New Orleans - even made mention that she had been doing the show for many performances, & that this was the best one she had ever had! Phenomenal night at the theater!

It was quite an experience, lots of people came dressed in hats and boas the crowd went wild every time one of Janis's songs was sung by the performer the whole audience was on their feet clapping and singing along

I bought my mom tickets to this for her birthday because she has always been fond of Janis Joplin. She was a little hesitant to go at first because there "was only one Janis Joplin" and her voice and persona was so unique it would be hard to emulate. Boy, was she mistaken! Mary Bridget Davies was phenomenal. My mom said she looked, acted, and sang so much like her. The other ladies in the show were great as well. Although I was expecting the whole show to be Janis and not so much songs and other artists that influenced her, the show was still great. My mom thoroughly enjoyed herself and couldn't stop talking about it--still can't!

Very insightful evening - a chance to get to know more about a star taken away too soon - a bit about family, influencers on her music style, and her journey. Music performances were very convincing - great recreations!!!

This is a wonderful evening of theater, and the audience experience is really a cross between a piece about Janis Joplin and being at one of her concerts. Mary Bridget Davies reprises her NYC role for this touring company and as in the off- and Broadway productions truly inhabits Janis Joplin, and she, the band and the wonderful three women who play both back up singers and the women whose blues music inspired Janis's, are absolutely perfect!
