This show was a treat from opening to curtain calls. The performers were excellent, from the ensemble to the monster! His dancing in his big musical number was captivating and giggle-producing. The scenery, and especially the scene changing, was handled smoothly and without a glitch. It was also fun to see the house chandeliers decorated in an appropriate creepy manner. This was our first visit to this theatre and it did not disappoint. If we lived in the area, we would attend frequently. We also had a pre-theatre lunch, without having made any reservations, and the food was good.

I throughly enjoyed this production. I could not believe how much they accomplished with such limited stage construction and prop use. The singing, dancing, and comedy was wonderful. I LOVE Mel Brooks and "Young Frankenstein" is a fav of mine. I was afraid that this musical would not hold up. I was wrong. it was stupendous. I highly recommend you go see it....BUT FIRST, make yourself acquainted with the movie so you can really appreciate the musical. WELL DONE!

Young Frankenstein was hilarious and very well done! AJ did an excellent job as Frederick, and was also kind enough to come to speak to my daughter and I after the show. What a talented and caring young man! I know he will go far!

Vintage Mel Brooks humor. This show is for adults. Language and some themes are unsuitbale for children. The staging was wonderful. The actors and actresses clearly enjoy this show. Dancing was superb as well

Young Frankenstein was both funny and fun! The cast is phenomial. First off, Dr. Frankenstein really captured the role and did not miss a beat throughout the 2 hour and 40 minute (with an intermission) performance. I never would have believed that the show was that long as it flew by. Inga, his laboratory assistant, did a fabulous job and OMG she is flexible!! Igor was definitely one talented individual connecting with the audience immediately.....VERY funny. Frau Blücher, the maid did a great job too as did the "mad cap" fiancée, the blind man and the cop. Of course, I must comment on the Monster.....just amazing!! In addition to the main characters, the ensemble did a great job livening up the stage....great direction! Great costumes and make up! The orchestra/band conductor played so seamlessly that one may have thought that it was pre-recorded....great job everybody!!!!

Roger Bart (Young Dr Frankenstein) was fabulous (and good looking too)! Loved his voice! Shuler Hensley (The Monster) was spot on! Cory English (Igor) was extemely entertaining. Anne Horak (Inga) was beautiful with the voice of an angel. Joanna Glushak (Frau Blucher...) was fantastic!!! The entire cast did a fabulous job! I did hear a few missed notes from the brass section of the orchestra, but I'll forgive them & say it was nerves.

This musical was great, had everything from special effects, singing dancing etc... and just flowed from scene to scene. I would just caution bringing kids because of the use of some profanity and sexual humor.

YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN was INCREDIBLY funny, DEVILISHLY intelligent. It was like watching a good Tim Burton movie, on stage. Roger Bart, the leading actor simply makes you fall in love with him by his BRILLIANT performance and GLAMOROUS CHARISMA. If you can, go and experience all those SPARKLING costumes, great songs, special effects (wow!), strobe lights and DARING dialogues (mostly about SEX). It-was-AMAZING!

Not being a fan of many of the recent movie-turned-musical adaptations, I was skeptical. Thankfully, Mel Brooks' work here uses humor in all aspects of the production (book, choreography, costume design) to bring out the best qualities of his cult film.

Expecting another Mel Brooks hit like Producers this failed miserably. Even the very funny lines of the movie came across poorly delivered especially by Frankenstein - I felt he must be counting the days before the agony would be over for him.

This was our first trip to Drury Lane- -we moved from Iowa last year- -and we really loved the experience. First-we were very impressed with the quality of your performers. They were very professional, nobody missed any lines, the music was great and everybody looked like they were having a good time, even though they have been doing this for weeks. To me, to have a great performance of Young Frankenstein you must have a great Frau Blűcher and you had a great one. We enjoyed that Igor included some contemporary news items in some of the things he said. Second, your facility is wonderful and last, the meal we had was delicious.

Not a weak element in the production. Standouts were Susan's choreography and the dance corps, Travis Taylor, Devin DeSantis, the sets, orchestra and really, the entire production. The cart and horses were very effective, Igor and Frau Blucher were wonderful supports. Only regret was the geriatric audience was incapable of providing a richly deserved standing ovation. Catch it if you can.

If you saw the movie, the play stayed pretty much on course. A few sight gags and a lot of sexual innuendo. Dr. Frankenstein was not Gene Wilder but he was pretty good. Igor captured a lot of Marty Feldman but I cannot see Marty Feldman doing Young Frankenstein as a musical. The set was well done and the play was well paced. Start to finish with a 15 minutes intermission was 2 hours and 25 minutes.

We truly enjoyed this event and all the players were skillful with remarkable vocal talent. That being said, I have to admit that we were a little deflated by the performance of the lead, Devin DeSantis, as Frederick Frankenstein, and by Johanna Miller, as Elizabeth Benning. Both have talent to spare in singing, but musical theater is just that: musical theater. It requires a bit of acting along with the musical talent, and both fell short of the mark. They had big shoes to fill for those of us who are familiar with Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn in those respective roles, but they just didn't seem to have a feel for the parts. On the other hand - the performances of Allison Sill as Inga, and Jeff Dumas as Igor, were outstanding in all respects. Ms Sills has a phenomenal voice and her energy and sense of fun did much to prop up her many scenes with DeSantis. She also had a tough act to follow, as did Mr. Dumas, reprising the roles played by Teri Garr and Marty Feldman, but they delivered with robust enthusiasm and excellent comedic timing. Both deserved a standing ovation! Others to mention are Paula Scrofano, as Frau Blucher, who was a bit too reserved in some scenes but still very enjoyable, and Travis Taylor as the Monster, who deserves kudos for tap dancing in platforms and a tip of the hat for Puttin' on the Ritz.

I generally have not had good experiences with Drury Lane productions, but not the case with YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Being a huge fan of the Mel Brooks movie of the same name I had been interested in seeing it turned into a broadway musical. I was not disappointed. All major roles were well played, especially the parts of Igor and Frau Blucher. The production managed to evoke plenty of laughs and I found myself with a big smile on my face from beginning to end. I think DL should skip the mainstream broadway fare like Hello Dolly and Funny Girl (which were horrible) and stick with the lesser shows like Aida and Xanadu, both of which were very watchable.

Young Frankenstein was amazing! It was like watching the movie along with a bunch of old friends who got every joke and remembered every punch line. The best part was that most of the jokes from the movie were rewritten and reworked so that they remained fresh to the audience but still did not change the outcome of the scenarios. I love, love, loved this play and would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the movie as well as anyone who has never seen the original movie!!! (Shame on you is you haven't).

This play was a complete rip from the movie version. I know Mel Brooks can do whatever he wants with his own intellectual property, but the simple nuiances from the film are lost in the translation to the stage. First and foremost the film was in black and white for a reason and the subtleties of Gene Wilder's performance were more in line with the original Frankenstein movie. I'm not a purist by any means, but this movie did not lend itself to a stage translation and I'm sure when the set designers came up with the fairly cheap looking sets they must have figured this out the hard way and had no choice. High Anxiety would have been a better choice to convert, if Brooks really is intent on staging all his movies. Lord help us if he makes a Young Frankenstein movie based on this play. The Producers should have cured him of that, I hope.

We went as a family of four, including a 20 year old and a 12 year old. My eldest and I thought that the musical was better than the movie because all the best parts were expanded into musical bits. The sets were excellent, especially the laboratory. The actors were spot on. If you loved the movie, you will enjoy this. Note: The musical has many more sexual inuendos that the movie did, and several are explicit. Our 12 year old was uncomfortable with it and so were we. I saw the show on Broadway in 2008 with the original cast and it was phenomenal. The tour scales down somewhat in scenery and special effects, but the core humor in the show is still there. We LOVED Young Frankenstein at the Fox last night. From the very beginning, I found the performance fresh, funny and delightful. Roger Bart's (as Frederick Frankenstein) delivery of the "The Brain" was particularly enjoyable. His fancy footwork and comedic timing were a great combination. The whole cast was perfectly put together! Beth Curry as Elizabeth was a true professional. Her singing was amazing as well her dancing in "Please don't touch me". A very funny piece. My favorite entrance was that of Igor, played by Cory English. Also a comedic timing genius. I could have watched/listened him all night. Also, equally impressive was the character of Inga, played by Anne Horak. Wow! What a voice. Her yodeling skills alone were worth the price of admission:). Finally, the character of the beloved housekeeper, Frau Blucher,( I can hear the horses whinnying now), played by Joanna Glushack, was perfectly on par with the character in the original movie. I loved her song "He Vas my Boyfriend", a funny and well sung song that is a nice surprise if you have only seen the movie version. I will have to say the most impressive dance routine of the night was done to "Putting on the Ritz". So well done. I wished it had gone on another five minutes! SO great. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Go if you can!!!

The music was very creative and catchy, the costumes were beautiful and cute, and the plot had a creative twist on it! Great for adults, or teens 17 and older, for there were many sexual innuendos. Great dancing and choreography. Would go again!!!! The 2.5 hours just flew by! Some of the long lasting, bright, flashing lights maybe a bit too much for the older population that have vision problems when they had lightning/storm scenes.

The show was simply AMAZING!!! One of the best Broadway shows I ve ever seen, and I ve seen quite a few. This was my fourth Young Frankenstein production. I saw one in Chicago, Washington and at a local theater in Joliet. This production was the BEST! The whole cast was truly wonderful. Great voices and simply amazing acting! I was truly impressed and wanted to give them a standing ovation at the end of each song :) I was pleasantly surprised by the venue (my first time at Drury Lane) and the whole production. Even though the staging was not as grand as the Broadway in Chicago version, it did not take away from the whole experience. I was impressed by the creativity and cleverness of the staging solutions used. Most of all, I was beyond impressed by the voices and acting of the AMAZING CAST!!! Thumbs up! I would love to see it again!

Hard to adapt a movie to a stage play but they did a great job. It was fun. This one is not for someone that does not like "over the top" comedy. All the subtleness of the humor of the movie is the opposite on stage. Still provides a ton of laughs.

If you are a fan of the movie and love musicals this is the show for you. Although I did not like all the changes made for the stage, it stuck very close to the movie. The major exceptions were the ending and making Elizabeth sex crazed. Did not like her song "don't touch me". We had the understudy for Frederick and was so much like Gene Wilder it was eerie. He was incredible. Good show that you could take your teenagers to. Like the movie there is some sexual innuendos and double entendres. The score was very good and there was some great dancing - especially th e"Puttin' on the Ritz" number. The actress playing Inge was amazing!!! Loved all the cast!

What a show! Everything I loved in the movie, only better. Only thing I missed was the song for the monster was a little different: absolutely ADORED the one in the movie. Of course, cast in movie was absolutely INCREDIBLE: play's characters were just as well portrayed by the actors involved.

We loved the play. It was funny and the cast was great. The play stayed close to the movie, so it hit all the funny parts of the original. We truly enjoyed this play and would see it again!

I'm not sure what I expected. It's hard to out do the original but overall it was great. Lots of fun songs.

The cast was amazing. There were some sound problems (orchestra drowning out the singing) and the spotlights seemed not to be following the action on stage but overall an enjoyable evening! AJ Holmes was outstanding as Dr. Frankenstein!

Excellent acting and singing! I was really impressed with the scene sets. They were as good as what you would see on Broadway.

This show was excellent in both acting and production values. All of the roles were very well cast. Igor, in particular, was a delight and his reactions to the other characters and situations were wonderful. However, it was the special effects that really stole the show! They, alone, were worth the price of admission. To also have excellent casting, set, lighting, sound, costuming, hair/makeup, etc etc was just the cherry on top, so to speak. (I was a little surprised to not see signs anywhere warning epilectics about the flashing lights in the show.) An excellent show -- Go see it! :)

At times in its musical format it was tough clearly hear all the comedy contained in the original writting. It was still a very enjoyable event.

The play was very true to the original movie and the actors were cast very well. Acting, singing and dancing by the actors was very entertaining. the only negative we saw was the quality of the sets. For the most part the sets were cheap looking and amateurish. I have seen better in dinner theaters.

My husband and I had seen the original movie. What a joy this musical is. So much that was familiar and some scathingly brilliant new material! Mel Brooks fans won't be disappointed. If you don't walk out of the theater humming the tunes then you might need Dr. Frahkensteen to examine your brain.

I wasn't sure how the movie Young Frankenstein would be made into a musical. It was done very well. It was entertaining and the cast did a great job. I was visiting the area and chose to attend this just so I would have something to do for the evening. I was glad I did, as it was WAY better than sitting in my hotel room.

Young Frankenstein is a fun, foot tapping catchy play that mimics the Mel Brooks Movie. Would definitely recommend this for a family event and outing.

I went with my dad since this was a family favorite movie when we were young. The play was very different than the movie in several ways. It was castes by very talented people and was comical and entertaining. It was quite provocative in a few scenes but didn't take away from the overall experience. Had a great time!

Being a fan of the movie I thought the play also being written by Mel Brooks would be as funny. The characters were not all as likeable as in the movie. Some parts dragged on and I left at intermission. If my seats weren't so far away and uncomfortable I might have tried to stay through the whole show but overal I wasn't impressed and would not recommend.
