Eddie Vedder

Since founding legendary alt-rock band Pearl Jam in 1990, Eddie Vedder has earned international recognition as a powerful vocalist and skilled guitar player, landing at No. 7 spot of Rolling Stone’s Best Lead Vocalists of All Time. Ticket buyers are often stunned by his performance style, which includes precise guitar solos and introductory lead-ins to many of his most famous songs, giving audience members more than just a music show, but a lesson in the history of both Vedder and his collaborators. He also features many different styles of songs.

The show was fantastic! He was in good voice, and the acoustics in the theater were very good. There were a couple of times he forgot the lyrics, but isn't that the joy of a live show--mistakes and all? He told a couple of stories while catching his breath between songs, which made the event more personal. He ended the show with "Hard Sun," which was a perfect way to send us off into the night. The staff at the Palace were great, very enthusiastic. Liam Finn was a great opener! For the most part, the crowd was great--a few meatheads, but you can find them at any show. Highly recommend seeing Eddie if you get the chance.

Though his spoken voice hinted at enjoying a cocktail (or two or too many), his singing was hypnotic. It felt like he was singing to the individuals in the audience-there was no pretense, no flash, no big stage performance. This was intimate and meaningful! He slayed the audience!

The Eddie Vedder concert was wonderful! The venue was great for this type of show. A smaller setting was a great idea for a more intimate show with Eddie! He was really down to earth and spoke about local places that he had visited while on starting his tour in NY! Great performance!

Eddie and Liam Finn at the Palace Theater in Albany was incredible. Eddie's set list didn't disappoint and he was in excellent form. His usual crowd interaction and banter, nevering knowing what you're going to get, is what makes his solo shows so interesting. He shares just enough that you know he's a cool dude as well as an incredible musician. Liam Finn was also awesome and really rocked the house. Definitely worth the drive up and back same day and Albany and the Palace are a great venue. Totally enjoyed it all. The Palace with its ornateness, comfy seats and 4 beer limit were big bonuses.

As a huge Pearl Jam fan it was a real treat to be able to see Eddie Vedder on his solo tour. He performed all the songs from his solo album which is the soundtrack to the movie "Into The Wild" along with several cover songs such as Bruce Springsteen's Mr. State Trooper, The Beatles "You've Got to Hide your Love Away" (which turned into an audience sing along) and Bob Dylan's Girl from the North Country and Fovever Young. He also played several Pearl Jam songs such as I am Mine, Porch, Lukin and Around the Bend.

One of the best shows I have seen. I have seen Pearl Jam countless times, but this was an unforgetable experience!! Eddie really connected with the audience, telling stories asking feedback. He even messed up a few songs and that made the experience very real!! The venue was excellent for this show!

I thought the show was absolutely incredible. Being it my first experience at the Palace and first Eddie Vedder show I thought it an absolute pair. The venue was large but still small enough to have an intimate gathering of fans. I was rather far away up in the highest tier. I personally would have liked to be closer but with binoculars the view was just fine.

As expected Eddie came ready to play but I also expected him to be loose as this was the first show of a solo tour. I was right on both accounts. He was great all night. Very cool with the crowd. Made some mistakes and took it in stride as did the audience. This is part of what I like about him and Pearl Jam for that matter. They take chances and if it doesn't work ?, so what. He is smart to be getting this solo thing going at this stage of his career as he can do this forever, whereas fronting Pearl Jam definitely takes more energy as time goes by. There is no doubt he will continue to do this and do it well. I was stoked on how good he was and can't wait to see him solo again. Of course a good Pearl Jam tour coming up won't suck either, but I think he really stepped up this night in Albany and will continue to do so for years to come. Bottom line, if he tours solo again in your town and you are a fan don't miss it. A very different approach to the music that makes him and his band what they are. Great stuff. He was loose, cool, sang great, and interacted with the crowd. It's just a smaller more intimate experience with just him up there. I'll definitely see it again that's for sure.

My husband and I LOVE music. That said, we go to a lot of shows. With the exception of one show we went to recently - the crowds have been terrible. Why do people waste their money on a ticket to go get drunk?? It is a mystery I will never be able to figure out, and these individuals really diminish things for the people that love the music. That said, Eddie was amazing!! Pearl Jam is my husband's favorite band, and he idolizes Eddie. He actually got choked up during some of the songs - that is how much it meant to him. The songs from ITW were amazing, as was the part of the set with the opener... can't say enough how great the music was. Would have been better if the girl in front of us was sober enough to realize that people didn't want to see her behind, or if some random jerks in the crowd weren't screaming during Eddie's duet (where he didn't use a mic).

Great energy, great set-list, great sound, great show! Ed is the best singer-songwriter of our generation. It doesn't matter if there are 20k people, 2k people, or 20 people in the crowd....Ed seems to be playing for each individual person. Eddie did not disappoint! He was charming, personable and easy on the eyes. And, that voice!!! Incredible! I have no idea how he sounds so good after all these years and cigarettes, but he hasn't lost a bit of that sensuous growl. He played a varied set from the Into the Wild, Longing to Belong, Pearl Jam favorites, and covers. I wept from the first chord of Just Breathe to the last having just lost my mother last month. I traveled nearly three hours to Jacksonville for the show and am seriously considering doing the 4 hour trek to Orlando for another show. I probably won't for practical reasons but it won't be for lack of desire.

I'm not a frequent concert-goer, but I'm so glad I went to this one (11/25/12, Jacksonville FL), about an hour's drive from my home in St Augustine. I had a decent seat, in the center, but still watched Eddie's entire performance through binoculars. What a delight it was for me. Sometimes I would close my eyes and simply absorb the lyrics. A particular favorite of mine is "Just Breathe" - having lost my husband just last year - I did indeed hold him 'til he died. And I loved all the other pieces Eddie selected for this show. It was catharsis for me, and I drove home very happy. Still, it disappoints me that so many cheered whenever profanity was used. Eddie's acknowledgement of Wounded Warriors was notable. My own husband was a US Marine, a disabled veteran of Vietnam where Agent Orange caused the leukemia that took his life. There are many grieving widows like myself, trying to find Joy wherever possible. For me, this was one of those opportunities.

I expected to enjoy the Eddie Vedder concert. I did not expect to be so completely amazed at his versatility. He played pounding rock, gentle folk music, ukelele music that was impressive not "cute" , he sang a dirge for the dead, he did covers and original music. Two of the most intense musicians that I am a fan of. Glen Hansard played for about 30 minutes, which was too short for such a talent -- but then, of course, there was Eddie Vedder. Eddie broke out so many Fenders and strings that I lost count...he had accoustic, electric, uketar, ukeleles, mandolin...and among his amps he had a loop station, pedals, reel-to-reel and mics galore...he also played a harmonica, and an organ. Hours of music magic. Pretty entertaining storytelling in-between songs. He did some Pearl Jam, many of the songs off of 'Into the Wild', new songs, uke songs, oldies. My favs were 'Elderly Woman at the Counter', 'Wishlist', 'Hard Sun', & 'Porch'. Glen came out and accompanied him randomly, and then they synced guitars and jammed some awesomeness together. They absolutely killed 'Falling Slowly'. It was hands down one of the best shows I've seen. They took off their mics and played a song accoustically -- you could've heard a pin drop. An amazing show in my opinion. Meeting them both after the show was a fantastic surprise. Glen signed my daughter's guitar, and Eddie gave her a guitar pick.

My wife and I attended the Eddie Vedder show Monday July 11th at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland CA. This tour was in support of Vedder's recently released Ukulele Songs. Though the album showcases Eddie's remarkable voice, the album is not one of my favorites, so I had no idea what I was in for going to this show. I expected a very laid back, mellow performance akin to Ukulele Songs. I could not have been more wrong. First, I have to credit the opener Glen Hansard, and Irish folk singer I had not had the pleasure of hearing before. He was INCREDIBLE. So much so that I wondered what Eddie was doing opening with such a strong and charismatic musician. I love Eddie Vedder, but really thought he might be overshadowed by Hansard's outstanding performance. I was wrong again. Much of the show was a shared experience with both musicians on stage together which only made for a stronger set. Eddie's setlist included songs from his new album and solo career. A real treat was his rendition of Pearl Jam's 'Better Man', and the more faithful version of Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town. Several encores later, the show closed with Eddie and Hansard singing completely unplugged. It is a testament to the incredible Paramount theatre's acoustics that I could hear very clearly the instruments and voices coming form the stage in the upper balcony where I sat. One of the best performances and overall shows I've ever seen. Ever.

The show was great from start to finish! Would have liked to hear a few more older PJ songs, because they were a little underrepresented, but it was awesome either way! Eddie Vedder sounded great, was in a good mood, and played a ton of music, including a Pink Floyd cover. Glen Hansard was good as well, although he spent quite some time tuning guitars onstage. Would have loved to hear, "say it to me now". Maybe next time The venue, I give a 1 star to however. They wouldn't allow photography at all, and the ushers were quick to freak out if someone so much as dared to pull out a cell phone camera. Also, no drinks whatsoever in the theater (alcohol or otherwise).

This is the 2nd time that I have seen Eddie Vedder doing his solo material. The 1st was at the Wiltern LG for the "Into the wild" soundtrack. That was truely amazing. My wife was there too, and she agrees that this show at The Santa Barbara Bowl was phenominal! Eddie's talent as a guitar player of various types, songwriter and overall human commentator just gave us a lift like no other on this stellar Saturday evening. The venue was packed and very mellow. Beers were cheap...just the way I like it! His take on turning the song "Santa Cruz" into "Santa Barbara" was just hilarious! All the Pearl Jam tunes just tore up the night. Especially "Unthought known" & "Porch". His new ukulele tunes were just what this laid back crowd loved. The covers songs are what this man loves to explore. As he said, "I don't want to be THAT guy", who just likes to play his own songs. Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and Uncle Neil Young's "The needle and the damage done" were just a couple of magificent performances. All in all it was just a romantic night with my lady. Her and I need it. Thank you Ed! Next time, you should start at 6:00 p.m., like you said!! Damn curfew!

Eddie Vedder was fantastic, simply fantastic! Even in solo performance he was very entertaining and uplifting. My first time seeing him and his voice was even better than I expected. I would go again and again. :)

Eddie showed that he is comfortable in his own skin Saturday night ! Drinking from a solo cup throughout the night, and conversing with folks on the floor. The show lasted over 3 hours but he warned us early on he wasn't planning on going anytime soon! He must of had fun time in southern Florida with family and friends. He gave a performance full of passion for his music and fans. His 1st encore consisted of 12 songs ( one song encores are bad luck I have always thought). 2nd encore : Hard Sun and ended with Dream a little Dream (Mamas & Papas) The Venue provided super sound and intimate setting for fans of all ages. A truly wonderful unforgettable experience.

Casual and passionate, playful and intense....Eddie Vedder played well to being both intimate to the audience and personal with his music. Opening for him was a real talented Irishman and seeing them together was a treat.

The Ukelele tour was amazing. I loved hearing Eddie talk to the audience and tell stories about the songs and his philosophy on life. I have always been a fan of Pearl Jam (for the past 20 yrs). However, seeing Eddie perform on his own was a powerful and intimate experience that I thought was completely moving and memorable. This show made me even more impressed with Eddie's talents.

Eddie Vedder 's acoustic set at the Au Rene Theatre in Broward was unreal! Amazingly talented, he was in top form which made for one hell of a show. The acoustics at the theatre were outstanding as I sat in the last row of the mezzanine but had both incredible view of the stage and crystal clear sound. Can't wait to do it again!

I loved every minute of it. Eddie played almost the entire soundtrack of Into the Wild, which is beautiful, perfect. His voice is a dream, he's charismatic, supersexy OMG, über talented. He talks a lot too and he is very nice with the audience. Could't ask for more, it was a joy, an unforgettable evening. And Glen Hansard is just adorable! Love him too. I want more, more, more....

Simply put, this show was amazing! It was just Eddie and his guitars = pure magic. It was a simple set, intimate setting, it felt like you were watching a good friend perform. Eddie's voice sounded great, the music was brilliant. Definitely a must see!

fantastic show in a classy venue. Not necessarily for the Pearl Jam crowd surfing audience, but more of an unplugged version. Eddie's voice was perfect. Glen was fantastic. True musicians concert. Eddie indulged the audience for hours, even though you could tell that Floridians were not his kind of people. Unfortunately, lots of redneck Republicans surrounding me.

Had a great evening and really enjoyed the performances. Although , towards the end of the show Eddie decided to use his microphone to espouse his political views and one sided vision of Corporate America. While he is certainly entitled to his views, I am also entitled to get what I paid for......music, NOT political commentary regardless of whether I agree with him or not.

Eddie Vedder was pure music genius. His mix of his solo portfolio with Pearl Jam classics made the show one of the most memorable that I have ever seen. I never thought Eddie Vedder on a ukele would be one of his best shows. It is ranked #2 to the Pearl Jam show at Lollapalooza in Chicago 2007.

This show was amazing!!! I have seen many Pearl Jam shows but never Eddie by himself. It was a totally different experience that must be seen. From him rocking the house with the electric guitar on PJ songs to quite moments with the uke. It was all so so good.

I didn't realize that Glen Hansard was opening until a few days before the show, and I was thrilled to discover it. His opening act was very intense and his song work blends well with Eddie's style. This was my first time seeing Eddie Vedder solo. I'd been a Pearl Jam fan since the early days and seen many shows of him with the band and have never been disappointed. I was curious to see if he would be as good without the band, and happily (yet unsurprisingly) the answer was yes. The show was amazing. I can't remember the setlist, but I do remember being thrilled with every new song played. Eddie enjoys storytelling between songs, and he was as enjoyable to listen to as always. The setlist was varied, with songs from PJ and both of his solo albums, as well as a few covers. The duets with Glen towards the end were a high point for me, they are both powerful musicians and they were really amazing together. The show was amazing and I would highly recommend catching it to anyone who enjoys Eddie's music. The only negative to the show was that despite the posted notices and an announcement before the show calling attention to the 'no photography' policy, it wasn't enforced. People caught taking photos (with flashes and brightly back lit phones/cameras) were talked to, but not ejected, and continued to do so throughout the show. It's frustrating to pay so much for seats to an event like this and having my view ruined by people who can't turn their phones off. At the end of the evening, when Eddie was playing with all of the theater lights on (a brilliant idea) the flashes and cell phone lights weren't noticeable. I would not take issue with photography at that point, but it's very distracting in the dark. It was a distraction and the only downside to an otherwise perfect show.

This was my first EV show so I went in not knowing any of his music or much about him (other than my son is the biggest fan). I have to say, I was really impressed. He is a very, very, very talented musician and performer. He really engages with his audience. I loved the smaller venue, felt more personal. I am so glad I went. The show was amazing!

Last night, my husband and I went to see Eddie Vedder. We had seats in the fourth row, past the orchestra. At one point, Ed walked over to the far right stage and I could see the lines on his face in vivid detail. He had grown old, just like me. Just like the whole crowd had. I looked around the small intimate theatre and saw middle aged people wearing corduroy pants and flannel shirts. They wore beat up baseball hats, and Birkenstocks, and faded comfortable camping shirts. I wore my clay necklace shaped like a star with a circle in the middle that a street vendor sold me on a corner in Boulder in 1992. He said if you looked through the star, you could see the answer to every problem. He looked through it, to demonstrate, and stared right at me. We laughed and I paid him double for it. I wear that necklace when I need an extra dose of peace, a reminder of times when I felt really centered during an uncentered time. It is hard to describe how seeing Eddie Vedder made me feel. The minute he walked on stage, I felt the tears slide down the corners of my eyes and down my cheeks. I had waited twenty years to see him. Before, Pearl Jam was too big, lines for tickets were too long, and ticket prices were too steep for my budget. I tried three times to get tickets for Pearl Jam back then and I never succeeded. There were people around us last night who had traveled the word with Ed seen him in Belgium, seen Pearl Jam six, seven, eight times. This was my first concert in over 8 years. Somehow, life had gotten in the way and I found myself consumed with work, being a mom, a wife, and slipping into a life of a middle aged woman. Last night, that fell away for a bit. I drank overpriced wine, and sat in a chair, and silently cried while listening to Eddie Vedder play Betterman on a ukulele. A single voice with a single instrument in a pitch black theatre. At times, the audience appeared to not even breathe, as all that was heard was the deep reverberation of a voice of a poet. Eddie had been known back in the day to be a crazy front man, climbing rafters to the tops of ceilings and then freefalling, trusting the crowds to catch him and pass him forward to the front of the stage, hand over hand through the crowd. Last night, he sat and told stories about his daughter, hanging with Willie Nelson, his first meeting with an alligator on a family trip. He had aged. So had his crowd of fans. So had I. But his voice was better than any album I had of him. And the beauty of his songs had grown over time. As he sang Falling Slowly with Glen Hansgard in the dark, with a small spotlight shining upon them, my heart was in my throat. I did not miss the crazy. I welcomed the peace of this new age. My husband and I left after the first curtain call was over. We had a son to get home to. As we walked outside the theatre, I heard the beginnings of Hard Sun and we ran back in to watch Eddie play one last song. I whispered to my husband to leave while Eddie was playing the last part, wanting that to be the last thing I heard to take with me as we drove home to the life we had made. Twenty years later, I had finally seen Eddie Vedder. He was not the same man he used to be. His songs seemed more meaningful, more refined, fuller in depth. Or maybe I, with those songs as accompaniment throughout my life, had really been the one to change. As I think about how much I wanted to see Eddie Vedder when I was in my twenties, I now realize how fortunate I was to have not been able to. It would have been different. I would not have cried and felt the songs the way I did last night. I would not have appreciated the sheer power of a single voice with a lone instrument the way I did last night. I would not have silently thanked the music for filling me with a sense of stillness as I did last night, driving home to our child, our home, our life. Yes, I had aged, just as Eddie. But with age, I believe, comes acceptance. That there is a time for jumping off rafters and then there is time for telling stories while sitting on a stool, barely breathing, with no need for theatrics. Thank you, Eddie, for walking with me through time. It was worth the wait.

My friends and I patiently awaited this concert for months, as Mr. Vedder recovered from his injury. I was greatly impressed with the show. Glen Hansard's performance was dynamic and witty and heartfelt. Multiply that by one hundred for Eddie Vedder. And the two of them playing together was a special and exotic blend. The sets were also extremely well done. How inspiring to be present for such creativity and beautiful art.
