Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands

I had a blast and looking forward to the next one!!!

This is a very unorganized event. They should utilize the field and not just a small section. It was hard to hear and see what was going on.

This event was very nice pleasant atmosphere great View wonderful overall experience

Overall I thought the Battle of the Bands was good. Nothing more, nothing less. The step teams started off slow but as the show progressed, groups seemed to get into the swing of things. Both bands were good. The musical aspect was outstanding! Live performances by invited guest needed a little work. I thought the band would be doing something more than sitting in a stand like setting but I guess they saved the actual field performance for the game. The smoke machine was a major distractor. Too much smoke clouding stage performances. I also thought the camera crew could have done a better job with focusing in on main performance personnel and the lighting seemed a little dark for a big screen production.

We had a GREAT time at the Bayou Classic. Can't wait till next year!

I was expecting to see really great bands playing, but I was wrong. Southern's band was pretty good, but Gambling just walked away with their tail between their legs. My high school band would have given Southern a real run for their money and won too. The music selection should have been different. Some of the music was good from both teams, but not what I would have expected.

Great time at the Battle of the Bands. General admission was great.

Very family oriented. Great event to listen and watch the greatest bands ever.

Greek show was a bit boring but the bands put on an amazing show. Southern University "Human Jukebox" was the STAR of the show. #WeAreSouthern

The sound system in the venue is subpar, and I expected tge bands to perform as they would during a half time show. Imagine my surprise when they marched in and sat down. I was very disappointed. This event was nor worth the money.

My family enjoyed everything about the show. This was also our first show and it was great.

very disappointed in southern dancers, Greek show. they definitely are not living up to their standards and I go hard for southern. I could not believe the disappoint in their acts. the band is the only thing that worked for southern. the extra acts was ridiculous and I could not believe ya'll included the extra people that procrastinated the time

The Superdome was freezing and the seat selection for patrons suck! No option for VIP only general admission and no assigned seating,,,total chaos,,, once we finally found seats we couldn't see anything but the bands sure did sound great, outside of the ecco.

Seating was bad, could not hear the bands and the stompers good, parking was bad, to many fights

Had a great time. Utilizing Ticketmaster helped everything flow smoothly and effortlessly. We just walked up with our pre-printed tickets and was shown to our seats

Good event with no problems. This time, the event had reserved seating for the Battle of the Bands and Greek show. I liked that because i didn't have to find a seat through tons of people.

At least once in a lifetime you should experience a true southern Big Time HBCU show such as this.

I had such a wonderful time at these events I will certainly be back.

This is the Superbowl for band heads. If you have assigned seats you dont have to rush to get their the step show is first but after that the show starts. Both bands do well but Southern wil knock your socks off. This was my second time and im already planning my next trip.

My wife and myself really enjoyed ourselves. Kudos to both Southern & Grambling bands. Those young men & ladies really put on a show. They went back & forth playing the new music of today and they also didn't forget about the old school music. It was great.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Bayou Classic Band Battle, It was a real pleasure to witness precision and artistry in motion. My children are both bandsmen collegiate and high school and could appreciate and enjoy what Southern and Grambling bands bring to the band community!

This is one of the biggest events for New Orleans every year. It's a must see

Southern University Band was Amazing as usual. That sound was simply beautiful. I literally cried because the sound was so beautiful.

Getting in was horrible, lines very long and not organized for quick entry. This was our first time and will heed the warning to arrive 1-2 hours early if we ever attend again. Shocked that the bands marched in and were seated for the actual Battle of the Bands. Southern band definitely ranked superior, but had they been allowed to do a full field show I believe that it would have gone over better. Good show nonetheless, acoustics good, and no major mishaps...so may return another year! Please reduce the smoke from machine for better visibility of the bands and/or add additional screens for better views.

My two best friends and I brought our seniors to their first HBCU event. The overall experience was wonderful. The girls really enjoyed themselves at the battle of the bands but the Greek show was very disappointing. Based off the information we read prior to coming, the limited number of fraternities and sororities represented was very low. The Greek show was one of the things they was looking forward to seeing and it was really horrible. The battle of the bands was everything, each band represented very well and put up a very great battle. The venue was nice as except the seats are not made for tall individuals. I'm disabled and the individuals that assist with that service was excellent.

This was our 1st time attending it was nice, but I won't go back. We expected it to be like Drumline and it wasn't. The Step show was not well put together. It was just 2 bands playing music that's it the girls weren't even dancing

As an 1970 to 1972 member of Grambling's Marching Band I thoroughly enjoyed both bands; however, the superdome was too dark. Nobody paid the light bill. It felt like a nightclub.

This was my first time attending the annual Bayou Classic. It far exceeded my expectation.

I am looking forward to the event. This is truly an outing that the entire family really enjoys and take pleasure in attending. They can push the time up until 6:00 pm and I wouldn't have a problem with it. Go Jags!!!

I enjoyed the turnup in the dome. The vibe had everyone turnt up from the moment we walked through the doors. I enjoyed watching the show on he stage and well in the seats. The audience was stepping and the band was live.

This is an excellent event for the entire family to enjoy.

Awesome show ... seats were first come first serve ... so if u came late u were off to the side where u couldn't really see then I wish they had more screens to watch esp if u were off to the side or maybe the stadiums big screen Just the seating was not so great

I overall liked the Greek Show the bands were very boring well Grambling was. When I purchased tickets though, there was no spot to select what area you wanted to be seated in. The option was not available. When we got there though hypothetically the workers said these sections are reserved when I purchased my ticket in advance and it said over and over all tickets are general admission. To me meaning first come first sit. Was very disappointing I had to walk 8 stories up. Will never go back here.

I attend the Bayou Classic Greek Show & Battle of the Bands and this year was very disappointing. I was very bored and that is something that doesn't happen very often. The host could not read what was on the paper and she kept asking the DJ what it said. I think that it could be more professional and more entertaining if we are going to pay our money to see it. I was right in front of the stage and the sound of the bands were not coming out to the crowd properly. I know that both bands can play really well, but it did not come across like that. The Greek Show really could have been better and it is usually very entertaining. I was very disappointed.

Event was entertaining, it had the audience on their feet half of the night.

This year I was disappointed with the show. There were times when the crowd was like crickets. I really expected more from it, maybe next year.

The step show was great and I would give that four stars. The Battle of the Bands was just ok. It was my first time going to the show and I expected them to get the audience going. For me it was just an extended version of what I'd see at any given local parade. I would save your $70 for two tickets and go to the parade on Thanksgiving.

I will return next year. I had an blast. My kids enjoyed it a lot. They are now thinking about attending Southern and trying for the band

The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for the celebrity guest Nick Cannon. He was the highlight of the evening. I used to attend the BOTB when I was a kid. It was way more entertaining back then. There were MORE celebrity guests, we didn't have Ushers blocking from going to the lower levels to see better, the step show even sucked a lil bit. And the actual battle between the bands wasn't as raunchy and funny as before. And a gospel singer? Really Southern University? Really?

Unforgettable time, I'll definitely be back next year!

This was my first Bayou Classic and I am so happy that I decided to attend the battle of the bands. The battle of the bands, the greek show, and the fashion show were great. The event is filled with so much love, culture, and school spirit. For anyone like me (a person of color who attends a PWI) I defiantly recommend going. The event highlights so many of the great things that an HBCU offers that PWIs could not. Only thing is get there early! The good seats go fast!
