Moon Hooch

MOON HOOCH IN CONCERT:Think it's possible to create an EDM concert without any electronics at all? It might sound like an impossible feat, but that's exactly what Brooklyn-based trio Moon Hooch does at their jaw-dropping live shows. Wenzl McGowen and Mike Wilbur's twin-sax attack combines with James Muschler's furious drumming to make primal, organic house tracks that draw from jazz, rock, and electronica. McGowen sometimes trades in his sax for a clarinet; other times, he'll create a throbbing dubstep bassline by attaching tubing or a long traffic cone to the bell of his sax. Moon Hooch's wickedly creative approach to dance music demands to be seen in person -- they absolutely shine on stage, giving ticket buyers a unique show that'll make them dance up a storm and leave them grinning from ear to ear.

This show way exceeded my expectations! I was blown away by how skilled they are! Both sax players have incredible chops, seriously they can't be human. They kept the energy up throughout the entire show, had everybody dancing, and didn't miss a beat.

This was literally the best show I've been to in a while. I don't typically dig dance music but the use of horns makes it. These guys are so talented; they barely even said a word the whole time! They just played and played and played.

These guys are pretty incredible in every way. Original, genuine, and virtuoso. The performance was one of those where you're not just totally lost in the sound and moved by it, but also impressed by the mastery of the musicians. All three of them were dripping wet by the end of the show and so out of breath they could hardly talk, yet were still pumped and kept going. Moon Hooch is an act you want to check out soon. And then a few more times soon afterwards.

They opened for Mike Doughty and they rocked the joint. Who'd have thought that you could sustain a song with dueling saxes, well, you can.
