I got tickets for this show because I misread some info and thought Danny Elfman would actually be present at the performance. I was corrected on this misinformation but decided to still attend. I'm absolutely glad I did because the performance was spectacular. The CSO is a top notch orchestra and I didn't mind the 7 hour drive (round trip) to see the show after experiencing it. The show basically consists of the orchestra (sometimes accompanied by a chorus and/or a boy soprano) playing highlights from each of Danny Elfman and Tim Burton's cinematic collaborations. There's also some video elements that tie in to certain portions. My wife and left the show wanting to revisit all of those featured films. Overall, it was a great show and well worth the price of admission.

I attended the show in Brussels tonight (30 April 2016); this show was postponed from November due to US State Dept recommending that Americans cancel travel to Europe after the Paris terrorist attacks. ALL the advertising in Belgium was linked to Elfman's performance and it was NEVER even hinted that the concert might take place without him (of course, the fine print says "concert content subject to change"). Even this week, local television new stations ran interviews with Danny in anticipation of the newly scheduled concert with tickets still on sale for the event. But, seriously, is a Peter Gabriel concert still a Peter Gabriel concert if Peter is not there? Is a U2 concert still a U2 concert if Bono is not there? Sorry, I think not.

Good combination of music and visuals - I liked how there weren't visuals the whole time so one could also just pay attention to and enjoy the music.

This was an absolutely amazing performance. Danny Elfman's music is incredible to hear live. I also really enjoyed the clips and concept art pictures by Tim Burton, it was a behind the scenes peek at two outstanding and unique artists. The NC Symphony did an wonderful job bringing these the work of these men to the stage. I would watch it again in a heartbeat!

Tim Burton's films are so theatrical and pull you into the story so deeply that sometimes you miss the beauty of the music. This was a wonderful way to experience the music of the films with just a hint of the movie in the background. So amazing!!!!

I had a smile on my face from beginning to end. The music, the movie clips and sketches of Tim Burton only made the music more magical. Was I disappointed that Danny Elfman himself wasn't there? Yes, I was but, if you love Tim Burton's movies, the movies are phenomenal because of Danny Elfman. It was a magical concert that I wish I could go to again and again. If you have the chance. you must go. The music is fun, flirty, magical, scary and just overall MAGNIFICENT!

I can't recommend this magical concert enough. Every single piece was fantastically executed and brought back so many memories. Several special guests including a dynamic solo violinist and two excellent boy sopranos, and of course the man himself, Danny Elfman. The orchestra was incredible, the arrangements were hauntingly beautiful, and Elfman is seriously one of the most incredible performers I've ever seen. He didn't miss a single note, captivating the audience with not only with his beautiful singing voice but also his acting and commitment to character, personifying Jack Skellington perfectly. 20 years later, and his voice still sounds exactly the way I remembered it in Nightmare...Danny Elfman, you ARE the Pumpkin King.

I really and truly enjoyed this performance. I loved everything about it. I wish the CSO would have more events like these with more modern composers' material. Thanks!

I bought tickets to this show for my wife and I's 1 year anniversary. We both absolutely loved it. The show combined the orchestra and choir along with Tim Burton sketches and clips from the actual movies on a big screen at the back of the stage. The whole show was great from beginning to end. The music alone was worth it, but the addition of the sketches and movie clips was icing on the cake. I highly recommend this show for fans of all ages. Would definitely go to again.

Great experience. You got to see some of the concept sketches and skits from the movies. Really well done. Good variety of Elfman/Burton's music and brains. :)

Love hearing movie music performed live and in concert! Would love to have the music from the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or Star Trek sometime in the future too!

I can't believe how many blockbuster movies Danny Elfman has scored for Tim Burton. And many are so diverse, that I had forgotten that Danny had composed these like "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" & "Planet of the Apes". This concert was great because while John Mauceri was conducting the orchestra we got to see video clips from the movie that was being musically highlighted. And what added to the visual experience was the storyboards that were shown along with the video clips. This video montage really made the music come alive unlike never before. One of my favorite films featured was "Batman". The music for this movie is as big a part of the movie as the acting & cinematography. And hands down my favorite film of the night was "The Nightmare Before Christmas". The best part was when Danny walked onto the stage & sang the part of Jack Skelington. And the moment to die for was when he shouted "\u2026 And I Jack, the Pumpkin King ..." during the singing of "Jack's Lament" from the movie. I could not think of a better way to spend the night before Halloween.
