I had purchased for my father for one of his Christmas presents. He has been a fan of Stuart Mclean for years, and most recently asked me to send him CDs of his talks that I have picked up over the past couple of years. I knew that he would LOVE these tickets and hopefully the weather would be in our favour as well. Thankfully it was! The show was incredible! I saw many ages on the Sunday afternoon show. Everyone I saw, even the younger ones enjoyed the stories, interaction with the audience, and the music. I think this might turn into a yearly tradition.

I loved every moment of the show. Stuart is an exceptional storyteller, he is engaging and witty. The musical numbers were first-class and I can't wait to go back next year. If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, this show delivers!

I have long been a fan of Mr. McLean (although I'm certain he would prefer Stuart). His show renewed my faith in theater. I had all but forgotten what an artist can do when he is able to take an audiences heart and hold it in his hand. His act is all class, his stories come to life with exuberant flair and his connection to the audience appears as near and dear to him as it was those in attendance. This became more apparent when quite by accident my wife and I ran into Mr. McLean later that evening as he left the theater. A more gracious and humble individual would be hard to find. We thanked him for the show and he replied, "It was a very special night". I believe all who attended felt the same.

The ticket checkers should be at the entrance to the building to avoid the delays of getting into the seating area. For this event the ticket checkers were at the entrance to the seating area. In the reading of one story, toilet humour about body functions was used as a main point of the story. I do not enjoy any presentation that talks about any body functions.

Such a humble genuine man. His stories are entertaining, he is humble on stage and truly engaged in his craft. The Vinylettes were great to listen to as was Reid Jamison (sp) and the musicians. I thought it was wonderful to listen to traditional Christmas songs. Imagine being able to say Christmas in public and to sing a speak words that reference the religious reasons Christmas is celebrated. (I am not even religious). It is great family entertainment (although I am not sure why kids under 8 or 9 would be there...but none the less it is safe to bring the little ones and the old ones. Nothing offensive in this show. Great show and will definitely be going again and recommending to others. Thanks for coming to Edmonton!

A wonderful first time visit to the live Vinyl Cafe shows that tour the country at various times of the year. The format was perfect, the stories made the audience howl and Stuart McLean's interaction with the crowd brought us all closer together. A very nice way to start the Christmas season. Hope we can do it again next Christmas.

It was a packed theater and a mix of young and old in attendance as Stuart worked his magic. The music was also wonderful with Reid James, the Vinyl Cafe band and the amazing trio of vocalists. Even the little 11 yr old guest singer sounded well beyond her age. All in all, it was a night to remember.....a lovely setting at the Jubilee, heartwarming and entertaining both the storytelling and the music. Fantastic!

First time we saw Vinyl Cafe - but had heard it on North Country Public Radio in New York state. NAC was packed with people obviously enjoying the "show". I put "show" in parentheses because it was really like sitting in a living room listening to a good friend telling stories.

Stuart McLean and guests were great. The venue was to large for the home spun show. Obviously Vinyl Cafe can fill a big venue. It was distracting trying to concentrate on faraway little Stuart with all of the children making noise and kicking our seats. Don't mind the kids but somehow it seemed more part of the experience when it was at Convocation Hall. Players were great, stories were fab. Hawksley Workman is a bit "out there" but a great voice. We have been going for many years but will not return to the big venue. We'll happily catch it on the radio.

My wife and I enjoyed the show very much and appreciated the Canadian "friendly" atmosphere he ejects. The musical side was most enjoyable and Stuart interjected some very funny moments with younger members of the audience. His 3 stories were very well told and entertaining. The evening went quickly and we were surprised that 3 hours can go so quickly when you are having fun.

Excellent show. The back up singers were great, the musical accompaniment was great. The guest singer could do less talking and more singing. The give aways for the oldest and youngest could use a refresher. How about prizes for the person who travelled the furthest for the show; twins or triplets who are in the audience, people with their birthday on the show date, or wedding anniversaries on the show date, etc.

It is a Christmas tradition for our family to go to the Vinyl Cafe Christmas Road show. My children have grown up on the Dave and Morley stories. They are often funny, heartwarming, and at times, off the wall hilarious. We wouldn't miss this show. See you in 2012!!

While it was a good performance, McLean is a great story teller. He was not at the level I was expecting. I thought that something was missing, maybe his normal enthusiasm. The musical selections were nice, but again I guess I expected more......

The music was terrible. This is at least the 4th Vinyl Cafe Event we have attended and we did not at all appreciate the musical component - one being a gospel singer and the other being someone who, to our ear, can not sing at all. We are also quite annoyed about the gift-giving component of the program - we all paid good money for our tickets - why does Stuart continue to want to give out gifts to the youngest and the eldest of his audience. Are we all not worthy of consideration??

The music was absolutely enjoyable. The story telling was wonderful. The entire evening was special and has become a memorable keepsake to be treasured. Not often can we attend a concert and enjoy every minute of it. Would definately go back next year. Matt Anderson was so powerful. We bought his Christmas album and will be buying his other CDs in the New Year. Also loved Jacquie Richardson. Will look to see where we can get her music.

Stuart was, as usual, an amazing start to the Christmas season. He is the master of story telling - causing you to guffaw out loud one second and bringing a tear to your eye the next... He is a perfect start to the season and I look forward to seeing him, at this time of year, again next year! The musicians with him are excellent as well and Chic Gamine were amazing!

As always, Stuart and the Vinyl Cafe gang were a treat. Musical guests Chic Gamine and the VC band were simply outstanding talents; Rick Shier's piano work is amazing. And of course, the stories, the heart of the matter. Add to this Stuart's interaction with the crowd, and Anton, the hilarious 10-year old Vanna White wannabe, and you have a very entertaining evening. Thank you, Vinyl Cafe.

This has become a must-do for my Mother and I and we look forward to it every year. This year did not disappoint. Stuart was at his best. Had some new stories and some old. All are delivered eloquently and with great humour. His interraction with his "assistants" from the audience is fantastic. Not sure how he gets such great kids and gets them to interract so well. I truly special part of our holiday season

The entire concert was, as always, fabulous. Stuart's selection of musical guests has been a catalyst for my listening choices. The stories, new and old are also wonderful. My only gripe in Banff is the huge number of locals who cannot attend because the auditorium is full of Calgarians! Everybody has a right to come - I totally get that, but it's disappointing that we have only one show in Banff.. it's always sold out very quickly.... maybe time to consider a second show in Banff too!!
