The Boognish is a Demon God who has appeared thrice to the prophet brothers Dean and Gene Ween. It resides somewhere outside the orbital buffer. Tradition has it that this entity holds a sceptor in each hand: that of wealth and that of power.

Ween isn't a joke band, they're a band with humor in their music. Like Frank Zappa, not like Weird Al. They do have songs that are mimicing a specific artist, but it's more having songs of many different styles and genres. Was SpongeBob based off The Mollusk?
The Mollusk was a direct influence on the animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants. Stephen Hillenburg, the show's creator, contacted the band shortly after the album's release, and he requested a song from them which later became "Loop de Loop".
What was SpongeBob inspired by? In determining the new character's behavior, Hillenburg drew inspiration from innocent, childlike figures that he enjoyed, such as Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, Jerry Lewis, and Pee-wee Herman.

It's remarkable. And Gene Ween might be even better at what he does, shape shifting his voice as needed, singing philly soul as convincingly as Cajun blues, and on the same album! I've become compelled to spread the word of this wonderful and criminally underrated band.
