By the beginning of October 2026, Robert Pattinson is 40 years old. He was born on May 13, 1986, and managed to build a film career which consists of both Hollywood action movies and smaller director-driven productions.
Early life and family
The famous film actor and star was born and raised in London; his family has never sought the limelight offered by the mass media. Robert's parents are Richard Pattinson and Clare Pattinson; besides being a rather quiet person, the actor is popular all around the world because of his acting career. Before becoming an actor Pattinson took part in some acting and theater events as a teenager.
However, it should be said that before entering the film industry Robert Pattinson used to work as a model. Of course, being a model gave the future movie star a chance to become more or less popular, but it is his acting that allowed Robert to gain world popularity. And the thing is that Robert Pattinson reached his goal very quickly thanks to two movie franchises.
Rise to fame
Robert Pattinson received the first recognition of his acting talents due to his participation in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005); even if his role in the franchise is not as long as those of other actors, it nevertheless helped him gain world attention and convinced some casting directors of his potential to attract millions of moviegoers. But not long afterwards the young man appeared in yet another famous movie series.
Thanks to Twilight (2008), Pattinson became one of the world's most popular young actors. In this movie Robert Pattinson played Edward Cullen, which helped him gain world popularity. The series of Twilight movies brought huge popularity to Robert Pattinson as an actor, which, in its turn, prevented him from repeating the same kind of roles and helped him develop his career.
Therefore, among the movies starring Pattinson playing the lead role we can mention the following:
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) – here Pattinson plays Cedric Diggory
- Twilight (2008) – Pattinson's role here is Edward Cullen
- Little Ashes (2008) – Salvador Dalí
- Water for Elephants (2011) – Jacob Jankowski
- Cosmopolis (2012) – Eric Packer
- Good Time (2017) – Connie Nikas
- The Lighthouse (2019) – Ephraim Winslow
- The Batman (2022) – Bruce Wayne
As we see, Robert Pattinson managed to play different roles in various movies, avoiding being limited to just one screen image.
Beyond the franchise years
After the Twilight franchise we see Robert Pattinson working with directors famous for their individuality; we see Pattinson starring in such movies as Water for Elephants, Cosmopolis, The Rover, and Maps to the Stars. Later Pattinson managed to get recognition through such movies as Good Time and The Lighthouse, proving that he is an actor able to undertake challenging roles.

Later we see Tenet, where Pattinson appears in a film by Christopher Nolan, and The Batman – Pattinson plays Bruce Wayne in a new interpretation.
