Cameo

This is the worst concert I have every attended, Cameo played 4 songs with three of them being shared with some some no name rappers...Please retire from the game Larry Blackman...

It was awful a complete was of time. If it wasn't for Rob-Base and Envogue I would have asked for my money back.

Overall, the show was awesome and worth the money. A couple acts should have been cut short, Ruff Endz for instance killed the vibe when they performed. It was nice though

I wanted to see Brick. I was told that they were there but I was there early and didn't hear them play. It was very difficult to determine what groups were on stage. I heard a little confunction even less barkays I heard the Ohio players and lots of Cameo. I enjoyed what I heard but was extremely dissapointed that I didn't hear Brick Dazz band!!!!

The Headliner(Cameo) could have performed more music and could have come back out for the usual oncore.

The concert was really nice, however the venue's sound system wasn't the greatest, actually I think it needs to be upgraded.

The entire concert was great. I especially liked the way The Barkays, Ohio Players, The Dazz Band and Confunkshun came on singing one or two songs and the smooth rotating transition between acts. Although I feel they could have performed a little longer. But the highlight was Cameo. They were off the hook. I would definately go to another Funk Fest.

I Felt like I was in a old folks home.There were some stage problems ,the mike must have been defective because we couldn't hear the lead singer in the Ohio Player lead the songs. Then the performer Sugar foot had to be helped on and off stage and assisted when he stood in the chair. But the overall performance went to Cameo,they made the show . I was told no cameras and left mine. But saw everyone there with one. what was the point of saying no cameras. Only to see flashing cameras all night.

There's nothing like live bands. I couldn't get enough and I wanted more. Cameo was excellent. Ohio players where good but I wanted to here I want to be free. I would go to any show that have a great band

My friends are I are products of the 70s/80s. We love the old skool - the funk, the ballads, all the sing-along/dance to songs of our youth... We liked the show's format - all using the same band, it flowed nicely and that helped to eliminate alot of set up and wasted time. We enjoyed all the acts but feel as though one needs to probaby not tour anymore....and thats the Ohio Players. We are all aging gracefully (hopefully) and can't do what we use to but.....but when folks are spending their hard earned $$, we expect a certain level of entertainment and we don't feel thats we got that. SugarFoot was assisted by a cane (thats fine) but barely moved, acted strangely-banging on the mike, voice was weak, didnt play the guitar anymore and seemed to appear to be intoxicated or possibly have had some health problems that may have made it hard for him to perform up to par. We will choose to remember them - back in the day singing Sweet, Sweet Sticky thing, Fire, SkinTIght and all those songs we love and the album covers we can't forget. The other acts - Dazz Band, Confunkion, Barkays were good. We remenbered and reminised thru the old songs, singing along and dancing in our seats. The lead singers' voices sounded great and the second generation members were good and seem to fit right in. :) All and all a good show....We had fun.

Overall, the show was great -- and Cameo did NOT disappoint. The bands were tight and the singing was phenomenal. HOWEVER, I was highly disappointed because I purchased these tickets solely to see the Ohio Players (the REAL Ohio Players, I should say, WITHOUT Sugarfoot -- the ones that I have seen over the last 3 years in the Washington, DC area at the Carter Barron or Ft. DuPont Park). The operative word when you billed this show was "Sugarfoot's" Ohio Players, and they were listed as the headliners in the beginning. Please don't get me wrong -- I like Sugarfoot and he was ok, although he was almost finished with his first song before his microphone was turned on, and he was totally unable to assess the situation. In any event, I was looking for the rest of the REAL Ohio Players. You can believe me that in the future, I will pay stricter attention to how these shows are billed, and be more discriminating when buying tickets like these for back in the day bands that have split up over time, changed their names, etc. There is a huge cult following for "THE REAL Ohio Players" in this area, and I will take it upon myself to assume that for all intents and purposes, the majority of the audience were there, like me, to see the REAL Ohio Players, albeit without Sugarfoot. (So, what do you call the group that performs WITHOUT Sugarfoot?) On that note, I was very disappointed because I did not get what I had perceived to be what I paid for -- the REAL Ohio Players -- namely, the band without Sugarfoot -- that is what I thought that I had paid to see perform. I now have discovered the distinction between Sugarfoot's Ohio Players and the remainder of the Ohio Players band -- the REAL Ohio Players. I, like many others who were duped, will await the opportunity to see the Sugarfootless Ohio Players return to The Carter Barron or some other venue.

As much as I was looking forward to hearing some old school jams and party a little, I have to say I was really disappointed. If I wanted to sing along the entire time I could have saved 132.00 dollars stayed home and popped my CD's into the system. They clearly was there just to collect a paycheck. I was really disappointed with Cameo, who is my all time fav! Most of the crowd was just milling about. Hopefully they will continue on what is left of their tour and retire while they still have a fan base.

In spite of the occasional poor sound quality (i.e. microphones cutting in and out), the performances were good. I enjoyed the concert.

This was one of the best shows I have gone to. I liked they way the first 4 groups performed in a mix (that's what you can call it). And Cameo, OMG they threw down. If you missed it, SORRY. The show was off the chain. Bring this show back

Cameo took the Show, also the barkays was good also

The speakers at Constitution Hall were terrible for the Ohio Players. The music was terriblie distorted for the floor seats where I was sitting the the middle of the Orchestra. They sounded a little better for Cameo. I would not recommend a concert a Constitution Hall.

The show was fabulous, I really enjoyed each group. It was a blast from the past with excellent music, an adult atmosphere, with good clean entertainment. The only thing that was an issue was the venue ran out of food! TOO EARLY in the show. There was plenty of alcohol but not enough hot wings to satisfy the crowd! And there should be food and drinks available on either side of the stage not just one side!

Had a great time with the old school bands and Michael Colyar. The event was "all the way live" and that's "word up"!

The FunkFest was fabulous!!! Lakeside was great, Morris Day is still 'Cool', and Cameo is was superfly. The ole school bands of the 70's and 80's are true performers; which is what I love. We had a great time!!!

Great Show, The grove was there! Dance all night long!

Enjoyed the show! Everybody was PHABULOUS! I enjoyed every moment.

This was a gift to my husband for his birthday and I must say we both truly had a great time. The show started late but there was a DJ playing old school music throughout the show that made the time past. Hope this is just the beginning of more to come.

The comedian (Michael) was hilarious, Lakeside did an impressive job, and I LOVE Morris Day! It was my first time seeing him and I was not disappointed. I didn't stay to see Cameo (just not a fan).

I bought tickets to see George Clinton. I was rather indifferent about seeing Cameo. I only knew one song - Word Up. And while I enjoyed the song, I always thought of Cameo as a one hit wonder. Seeing this concert - I stand corrected. Cameo was brilliant. They came to perform. They came to party. They came to show us all how they have survived the music scene for 30 + years. THEY earned every bit of dancing, sing along, applause, and smile in the venue. They were stunning showmen! I highly recommend them, even if you only knew Word Up, Or perhaps especially if you only know Word Up. This band has a lot to offer. Great songs, Great show! Loved them!

I love Cameo and always have. The crowd was into it. The performance was good however the ending stunk..........Everyone was so disappointed on how the show ended. Cameo only performed 58 minutes. They didn't even make a curtain call after letting the audience chant and cheer for 15 minutes the curtain closed and the lights were turned on. If that were the case when they left the stage the curtain should have closed immediately after. It made us all feel like fools. The Deejay performed longer than they did

I was very dissappointed in the fact that the concert was SRO, and I'm only speaking for myself as far as having to stand the whole time, with a bad knee. Well, the fact that Cameo only performed for 50 minutes was very very dissapointing to me as well as many fans in the audience. Now on the other hand I went to see ConFunkShun the previous night and they performed for almost 2 hrs and it was great. Cameo should take a page from there book, if they plan on coming back and Harrah's please look at the crowd and plan accordingly, these were 2 old school bands, with a couple of old school fans and put some chairs out, a few of us need to sit every now and then.

OH MY! The Band was Geat! They are one of the Few bands and artist that sound better live than in a studio!

Cameo was greeat - they went back to most of their hits. Show was pretty full but not over crowded. Drinks prices at venue were reasonable. Most of the audience were in town for the Bayou Clasic - everyone had a great time. Cameo brougt me back to my late 70's college days. My date and friends enjoyed equally as much. The only drawback was the show was 1 hour on the head. Crowd cheered for an encore - Cameo did not return to the stage. Not sure if it was the venue's rules or what.

Cameo gave a good show.but the show was only 1 hour. I was dispointed about that.

The show was too short at 45 minutes. Enjoyed the music...didn't hear enough music. New Orleans is a partying town and we just did not have enough Cameo!

Nashville Soul Fest- Traveled and got a hotel to come here. Acts were supposed to start at 4pm, first one came on way after 5 pm , will we cooked in the hot sun. They announce Rob Base was starting the show then Hi Five came out. They were ok..a lady in front of me put up an umbrella and I didn't complain. I wasn't missing much. Rob Base came on next and ROCKED IT. Easily the best performance of the Fest. Micelle was next and the soundman didn't account for her squeaky voice so she could barely be heard but was alright. A LONG wait for En Vogue who were good, but the lighting sucked. You could only see all 3 girls when they came to the middle of the stage. Another LONG wait for Cameo and then Larry Blackmon walks off stage during the 3 rd song and we had a 15 minute drum solo by Sugarfoot. He came back out but we left with a portion of the crowd. oh and the Radio DJ's should stick to radio they didn't know how to entertain the crowd thru breaks. When the one who could, finally showed up the crowd was lost. Shout out to MC Lightfoot in Atlanta , he is a master and should give classes!!

THE SHOW WAS GREAT FROM THE ACTS TO THE FOOD TO THE VENUE. I LOVED IT.

Cameo was on for a short time and didn t sing nearly all the old hits. En Vogue was good, but only had 3 out of 4 singers present when this group is KNOWN FOR HARMONIZING!

The show started late, which was expected, but overall it was a good show. With the exception of Michel'le and Cameo I enjoyed every performance. Michel'le's set was very brief and Cameo (specifically lead singer Larry Blackmon) was painful to watch. EnVogue was AWESOME!!! Those ladies have keep themselves together for almost 30 years, both physically and vocally--they can SANG!!! High Five, Rob Base, and Ying Yang Twins had us on our feet like it was a BIG PARTY!!!

Ying Yang twins and Rob Base was awesome. Disappointed with Cameo as they took to long coming on stage and once on stage they only performed three songs.

There were too many acts, sound quality was very bad and Larry Blackmon should be in a nursing home not stumbling to a chair after each song. A couple of the acts were ok but overall it was the worst concert I've been to.

CAMEO DIDNTCOME ON STAGE UNTIL 11:35pm the concert started on time at 7:30. The LEAD SINGER WAS SO DAMN HIGH. HE KEPT GOING OFF THE STAGE WHILE THE OTHERS IN THE GROUP HAD TO COVER FOR HIM. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

The venue was great! Seats were marked clearly and easy to get to. The first problem was that many from the back of the venue came and stood at the stage in front of us paying customers who spent good money for our seats. Not enough security. After the number of acts before them, Cameo finally came on stage and Larry Blackmon could barely move. His voice was strong, but the body wasn't willing. He didn't make it through 2 songs before he left the stage and the group followed after 1 more. Not Good! Dru Hill (Sisco) and Ginuwine were very entertaining!!!

All acts performing ahead of Cameo performed with a DJ. Mostly Hip Hop. Waited until 11:15 P.M. for Cameo to perform and they still had not taken the stage! Venue scheduled to close at midnight. A large crowd had already departed. Never got a chance to hear one note from Cameo or an instrument! Don't waste your hard earned money!!

I really enjoyed the concert!! Good friends, good music, good vibes. Ready for the next one!

Awesome concert. The only issue I had was that the security kept making us go back to our seat and that we couldn't stand at the stage to engage with the performers.

The show was Great! All the artists were there , show started on time and was very organize.

The concert was all that the promoter said it would be and more. The meet and greet the seats the performers the host. Every was great. Ladies night battle of the ages part 2 was a night to remember.

I was disappointed that Larry Blackmon left for most of the show and a very sloppy looking man with a backpack filled in for him and the audience was given no explanation as to whether Larry was ok or what was happening. He is a big reason why we wanted to see cameo so it was disappointing that he didn't perform much. I left wondering why I bought tickets to this show.

Am a long time fan about club nouveau and cameo. Unfortunately I do have to say that the show was not up to par for me. Club nouveau did a great job opening the show however once cameo came on it was apparent that something was not right with the lead singer Larry Blackmon. He was there for a couple of songs and then disappeared for the rest of the show only to come back out and sing the very last song in obvious distress. In his place was I'm sure Someone who was a tech of some sort. He knew all the songs and all the moves and although he was entertaining with his backpack on his back and disheveled clothes he was not who I came to see. Had someone from the band said that there was a health issue Taking place I would have had a better understanding and more forgiving with my review. I am dissatisfied immensely.

The music for Cameo was great but the lead singer cameo kept leaving off of the stage and look like something was wrong with his back or his feet hurt I don't know what happened but the show was okay I guess age is catching up with all of us

It was great. They still sound really good. Brought back memories. The group is older looking but still for the most part have quite a bit of energy.

The concert was very good I so enjoyed myself to the fullest at Thunder Valley Casino

Love Chante I hated that I missed getting a signed copy of the Christmas album and maybe a chance for a photo for my scrap book. Plus I wish she had song a lot longer...lol. Cameo brought back memories, some good ones.

Chanté Moore singing over tracks is not a concert. They could of had the college band to play her music in order to make it a concert. I know it was a fundraiser but they still had a responsibility to give us a show. We left before Cameo came on. Thank God Chanté Moore can sing.

It was good for me and the wife to get out and see and real bands again. Actual singing, and playing real instruments with real talent. I still have original vinyl albums, and cassettes of these group and when they actually came out. No DJ spinning their music with a lot of people on stage just standing around. These guys were still able to perform, play and put on a good show after all these years. Enjoyed it.

The concert started about 15mins late, but it was worth the delay. Both bands did an AWESOME job!

The show was off the chain.I truly enjoyed Cameo and Morris Day and the Time performance. This was an awesome show.

I was realllllly looking forward to this concert because Cameo is one of my favorite groups. However, I was very disappointed by Cameo[s performance because they played only bits and pieces of most of the songs they performed. My biggest disappointment was they left off the saxophone solo in "Candy"... How dare you!!!! Cameo got 3 stars. Morris Day was magical!@!! He preformed just as he always does....right on point!! The Time got 5 stars!!!!

This was a great old school show , with great old school showmanship.I wish today's artist would go to these show's and take notes.When people put up there hard earned money, they want great music,great fun, and a great show.That's what i got and im greatful.

Cameo gave an excellent show. They still give a good show. The musicians were tight.

Concert was AMAZING!! I got picked to go on stage with them! so happy I got pictures! they def still have it! We danced the whole concert!

As a Vet, I ve not been in places where time, chance and space have allowed me the honor to see the guys who runs the show CAMEO!, The members seemed to be having a good time. The smiles they left on our faces and the sounds they left in our ears left us wanting more, Although they are celebrated for pounding thumping funk, They also have many ballads that are hauntingly unforgettably beautiful, so much so it paints you in the picture of its groove, A goodby, Love yourself, Nothing less than Love, Don t be Lonely, Time Fire & Space, and many more, Cameo4Life,,,,,,,,,,Eric

Cameo sounded great!!! All of the songs that were preformed sounded just like the records. The band celebrated their 40th year in the business! They played as many of the hits as they could, as Larry Blackmon said, "To try and sing all of the hits of a 40 year career would be impossible!!! The band looked good and sounded great!!!

Cameo still has it. The guys are getting older, but their talent shines bright. I've been listening to them for 25 years and never realized how awesome they are on guitar. We had a fun memorable night and even got to meet the entire band after the show!

It was great to see Cameo in such a small venue. We've been going to see them for years but have never been this close to the stage. We also did the Meet & Greet after the show and the band couldn't have been any nicer. We got some great photos. This is a must if you are a Cameo fan!

The show was absolutely crazy...... They captivated the audience with their amazing sound. I'm so glad that I was in attendance..

The group is older now therefore they could not hit the notes; but the crowd totally participated, we had FUN!

HOT ! It was just HOT! From the time we arrived to park and Lake Side was playing ,the party was on . Didn't know that tailgating was not permitted in the parking lot , that's OK . Nothing was going to stop us now . We danced all night long , didn't even get to our seats . I think we closed the concert after looking at the pic's , not a person was seen in the bleachers . Just to mention for someone who had knee surgery on both legs was still standing after Evelyn , RR , And Cameo . My knees paid for it later that night . Great time for us all and pic's to reflect .

The concert was great, all of the acts were very good.. Lakeside funked it up the best! Since this was our first time at this venue we were unclear of the seating arrangement. Once we found out seats the heat 115 degrees in the sun was unbearable, but once the sun started to set it was all good. My wife enjoyed Evelyn King's performance the best, she always puts on a good show. As for me I love the funk... Cameo was very good as the headliner, Roseroyce and Midnight Star got everyone up and moving... Good show by all acts... Can't wait until Sinbads Old School concert in September, I'll be getting my tix on Friday!!!

The whole concert was the bomb! However, I Liked Rose Royce the best!!!!!

Loved the crowd, all the bars available but most of all , I loved all the performers. It was my first time attending a concert at Thunder Valley and it won't be my last!! I loved, loved, loved it!

although it was the hottest day of the year it was worth the wait. I truly enjoyed the music and the people of all kind coming together for the main event.

The bands played 5-6 songs each. It was real quick. Sometimes the stage changeover took longer than the bands. The Ohio Players got in Fire and Love Rollercoaster, but no Skin Tight. It seem that they were EXTREMLY loud compared to the other acts. The Dazz Band was the best. Cameo was Cameo with no WordUp. Maybe they are tired of doing it. I enjoyed but wouldn't see it again unless the bands played longer.

An excellent show from Doug Banks and V103; as always the Venue is a great place for concerts with the free parking and casino bar. The concert began with Steve Arrington, former lead singer of Slave, providing his distinctive vocals with a rocking band. Singing a lot of Slave favorites that had the crowd singing along. He was followed by the Timeless Morris day and the Time. Although many of the founding members were not present, the band did an excellent job. Morris is a great promoter of himself and their music. He often had the audience in laughter of some of his massagious comments and jokes. The band was popping and synchronized in their dance movements and brought back a lot of memories of Purple Rain. The headliners, Cameo followed the Time and maybe that was a mistake. The ship had kind of left the dock by the time they appeared and although they gave a good performance, thoughts of the Time was still echoing. I believe it is time for Larry Blackmon to retire the cup. He became the butt of many jokes do to his disappearances off stage and his presence of not totally being there. The rest of the band was excellent and exhilarating.

Man that was a show I waited 20 years to see. Of course Ive seen MD and Ive seen Cameo but together on same stage was Funky Cool,.. I really liked hanging out after the show with Arron on Bass for Cameo and Chillin with JelleBean on Drums of the Time.. I love these guys since I was 15 and Im 45 today , I had a great time

Steve Arrington and Morris Day and the Time were great Cameo should not have made an appearance

Well the Carter Barron is still the place to be in DC for summer concerts! Cameo brought out all the hits. \u2018Shake your Pants, \u2018Sparkle , \u2018Flirt , \u2018Talkin out the side of your neck and what used to be my theme song \u2018Single Life . We (the Mrs. and I) totally enjoyed the show. The opening act, Clones of Funk, are a local Parliament styled band that always brings a lot of energy to the stage and old school funk!! The Carter Barron crowd was as lively as usual. DC knows how to party. Cameo and the Clones of Funk get 2 thumbs up!

Walking in we saw two cats dressed to the nines Ol Skool 70's stlyes. we saw as many afros as wigs AND weaves and natural hair. Fantastic Show Awesome.

All the performers were great. The intermission kept crowd into the vibe. Food was great. It was Organized and well put together

Everyone was good until Cameo....Omg he kept walking off stage leaving the audience wondering what was going on. Do NOT bring him back. It s time to retire the croch cup!

It took too much time between acts or bands. I won't be attending these type of events again.

I was glad to cross this off the bucket list but I should have done it a couple decades ago.

All the other groups were great, but I would not attend another event at this venue. It started almost 2 hours late, it was hot and humid. I wait all night for Cameo to perform and when they finally do they only sing four songs, and the performance was mediocre. What a disappointment.

My seat was not bad until you sat down there was a gate right in my face I could not see anything.

lead singer of Cameo appears to be very ill and out of shape. He continuously left the stage as if he could not stand for long. I did not like there show and I am a big cameo fan but I left early on this shot.

This event had a lot of potential but fell short on several key notes. Starting from the gate, that s if you were able to get in on time! It seems majority of the ticket vendors and types did not allow you to obtain tickets before hand and were only available for pickup at will call. That may have been okay except there was only 1 will call line set up at the venue with majority of the participants standing in it. But no worries, because the show started about 45 min late. Next came the line up, which although slightly random, fared pretty well together (order could have been different but that s neither here nor there). All of the acts put on a good show, the Ying Yang twins probably being the most surprising but the headliner, Cameo, being the upset! I m a huge Cameo fan and prior to this show, they held the place of the best concert ever seen; it was very disappointing and kind of sad to see them perform that poorly. The band found itself trying to carry the lead singer Larry Blackmon the whole way. Larry for some unknown reason to the crowd had to take a break behind stage between every song and each time he reappeared asked the crowd the same question. Most of the crowd dispersed throughout their set, leaving not so pleased. So overall, the event was okay; had lots of potential but also left a lot desired.

Cameo should have gone on first. Confunction. Bar-Kay's, OneWay and The Gap Connections were excellent. Mary Jane Girls, well they could have joined Cameo and gone first.

This was a fun concert took me back to my younger days

This was the best old school concert I've been to in years. The venue was great. The show was the bomb. We really got our money's worth.

Every single act was so awesome. The bands have members in the 50's and 60's and you would not be able to tell it. They all delivered and the voices, instruments were perfect. My wife and I didn't want the show to end .....even after 5 hours of music that was performed. God Bless ALL these bands.
