A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle

A Perfect Circle Concert Schedule and TourTool frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel have been taking the alternative rock and metal worlds by storm as A Perfect Circle since 2000. The band has been active recently in South America and Australia on a string of festival concert dates in early 2013 after a massive US tour in the summer of 2011. The legendary live dynamics of Howerdel's precision playing and Keenan's world-class rock baritone has fans snapping up tickets rapidly. Concerts consist of simple sets along with an amalgam of music from all three of their albums.

Once again, Maynard and company do not disappoint! The sound was perfect, the lighting dazzling (although true to form, never saw Maynard), set list awesome.... the question of why AC/DC was the music being played in between sets was answered late in the show when they did a cover of "Dog Eat Dog" in honor of Malcolm Young! Just a great evening.

A Perfect Circle was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!! Maynard never disappoints!! Some people were upset about the whole no taking video or photos....but if you've followed Maynard with Tool, Puscifer or A Perfect Circle....this has been a policy for the last 25yrs.

What can I say A Perfect Circle never disappoints. Avalon was a great room to see them in as well. If this is a warm up tour I can't wait to the full tour! I'm glad I saw the 3rd night Emotive and to hear the entire album was a treat! As usual Josh Freese amazed me to no end and it was cool to hear Billy singing lead vocals on a few songs.

HEY GUYS!!!! I have never seen so many people packed into a small club. I was on the balcony looking down (Thank god i had a good spot) and i could literally see that there was not wasted square foot in the building. Every single inch had ten people in it. APC!!!!!! You're far bigger then you think you are. Please pay more often ... this proves people are hungry for the music. And play bigger buildings! Club Nokia or Hollywood Palladium could have been a better venue choices. Outside of that .... amazing show! Wish i could have gone all three nights ... really glad to see the second album played in it's entirety!!! Thank you thank you thank you.

It had been approximately 6 years since A Perfect Circle had performed. It did not seem like it! Every aspect o the show was beautiful! The quality of there music is amplified even more live! From the vocals to the drums, it was absolutely amazing! Even the crowd was not pushy, people were not crowding; it almost seemed as if there was a neutral sense of respect amongst the fellow fans. Whenever I get another chance I will definitely be seeing them again!!

The Band was tight! Great sound didn't miss a beat. Maynard the most talented musician out there? I say yes. Cheers mate! The only reason this is 4 stars & not 5 was that the light show was missing. Really a band this good needs no other tricks or gimmicks.

I saw APC back in te 90's and they were great. Last night's show is a testament that good musicians just get better with time. Even though these guys had not played together for quite a while, they look like they were enjoying themselves on stage. The music was just great. Josh's drumming is always impressive. The sound in the venue was just loud enough, and crystal clear. I enjoyed every second of it... ok, except "Imagine" for the encore; not a fan of their version at all!

After a six yeat hiatus, Perfect Circle came back to blow my mind! The show was amazing, they performed Mer De Noms in it's entirety and also one song off their eMotive album...although I would of preferred they had done something off Thirteenth Step, but no complaint here, I got see one of my all time favorite bands, what can I say, I was in absolute heaven. Overall, it was great to see the band onstage together again performing songs from a great album. Unforgettable for sure.

Night #1 / Mer De Noms of A Perfect Circle was filled with great music, Maynard's usual sense of humor and band members that genuinely enjoy performing together. As Maynard voiced "It's been 6 yrs. since we've performed together" it made me that much happier knowing I was going to see them for two nights not just one. Getting the "kinks" out was evident made by comments from them. I honestly wasn't swayed by minor shall we say creative blips in their playing or singing. I enjoyed it all nonetheless. Night #2 / 13th Stone seemed to be a bit more energy driven. Again the music a bit harder than the first CD (Mer De Noms) Opened with energy and heavy guitar ripping. Maynards voice so peaceful like an Angel at times. Lending me to feel so content. Great shows and glad I was able to see them!

One of my favorite concerts I've been to despite some major quality issues. Drums and lead guitar sound were perfect. Vocals, rhythm, and bass all too quiet. I could here the crowd over Maynard unfortunately. This may be due to the main speakers being behind me since I was so close to the stage. Maynard did not sing any high notes which really disappointed me. There were several times the band got out of sync. New bassist, lead guitar, and drums all had really good stage presence. Billy was the star of the show in my opinion even though Maynard got all the screams. The Avalon club is absolutely gorgeous inside, I'd love to go back. Crowd was fairly laid back, only one drunk girl tried to start a mosh pit. She was removed three times. I didn't drink but there were bars.

I did attend the meet & greet & band members Billy, Josh, James & Matt were super sweet. Didn't really expect anything but a "hello" but they did extend handshakes & some hugs to some of the attendees who asked. Josh kicked ass on the drums (as usual), Matt proved he deserved is place in the band (not like he needed to prove anything tho), James told a few cute but slightly lame jokes, & Billy (my fav) rocked the guitar & vocals. Those men are excellent musicians & I was pleased with there performances & the show. I was happy to be a part of it in the crowd. I feel blessed to have been there & will be attending again for eMotive Wed 11/10.

I have finally received the chance to see A Perfect Circle Live, but not just any show, I got to see them perform the entire Mer De Noms album which is my favorite of theirs. I had missed the opportunity about ten years ago when the album came out. My sister and I kept wishing they would tour again, but Maynard went back to Tool (whom I have seen live twice, and recently) so the thought of APC perfoming anytime soon seemed unlikely and to do their first album, very unlikely......But they surprised their fans with this wonderful little tour!

After seeing Tool many times, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle before, I was used to odd bands opening for Maynard based bands. This was the worst opener by far. Some Japanese band that sang in Japanese. APC was good, the acoustics were good. The whole place was smoke due to the cigs and other things. If you dont want to smell like smoke, then sit in the lower level.

They were a lot better than I had expected. I was sitting on the second level 11th row so my area was just sitting down which wasn't all too bad. If it was tool i would have been standing though, i guess the music is just different that way. Either way it was really great show could have used more of a light show to make up for bands lack of enthusiasm, but going into it I already knew they were like that, thus i expected more of a light show but hardly any lights at all period! very dark.

A fan of "original material," by this band, and not so much "cover songs," I'll admit I was somewhat skeptical of an "eMotion-heavy" set list that I had seen prior to the show this past Sunday night. However I left the concert with a great feeling of satisfaction. It had been 8 years since I'd seen this band perform, back in San Francisco (2003). They kicked ass then, and they kicked ass again. Maynards voice is so flawless and powerful I'm sure many people thought he might have been lip-synching. Guitarist Billy Howerdel missed a few notes here and there but overall it was a fantastic performance by all on stage. Great lighting effects to match the music - not overdone. Maynard remained in the shadows most of the night (par for the course). I could see he was wearing a wig and sunglasses...no wine bottle present nearby, though he did admit to having imbibed earlier in the evening (after he apologized for not introducing the members of the band until about 10 songs into the 18 song set). The cover songs were mostly just "okay" - didn't get the crowd moving but kept (at least) my attention just by the sheer musical talent and great vocals by main-man Maynard. Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drum, an industrial, sound-effect heavy, almost concept-like song, to me was the most impressive of the night. Passive, The Outsider, The Hollow, Weak and Powerless, Gravity, The Noose, and Magdalena were all definitely top-notch, but it was "Counting..." that really blew me away. I loved how powerful the song was in the arena - definitely ignited the crowd, and it helped that Maynard sang it with some fury in his voice and arms swaying/pointing. Chills, dudes.....chills. Wasn't really a fan of their remix of "Three Libras" - would have much preferred to hear the original. New Song: "By and Down" - reminiscent (sound-wise) of Mer de Noms, which is good. Couldn't really hear the lyrics...band was very powerful and melodic over the vocals. I liked it though - it shows promise for their next album...which will hopefully be out later this year or early next. I'm a Tool fan first and foremost, and I am a Maynard man always...and I will always pay good money to see this band. I hope Maynard gets the "Mick Jagger bug" and writes/sings music into his 60's.

This was an incredible show! I bought a VIP Pass to the sound-check and wine-tasting and it was worth every penny. The VIP's went in at about 4:45 and were given special canvas bags and our autographed posters before being led in to the sound-check. The band played The Hollow , When The Levee Breaks , and an instrumental version of Magdalena which they did not play during the actual show, while Billy and James told some jokes. Then we were escorted to the wine-tasting where we got to sample three wines; one white wine and two reds, my favorite of which was the Chupacabra. We were given background about Maynard's vineyard and were allowed to ask questions. After the wine-tasting we were given early access to the merch-booth and then went back outside for about 20 minutes until we were let in again along with everyone else who had a normal ticket. When the show actually began, I was sitting in my seat in Orchestra Section C, Row E, Seat 5, which was pretty close to the stage, about 20 feet or so away. I had never been to The Schnitz before so I was very impressed by the acoustics of the venue. I was honestly dreading the opening band Red Bacteria Vacuum but they turned out to be more fun than I had expected. A Perfect Circle played a long set-list made up of songs from all of their albums, but mostly from their eMOTIVe album. Many of the songs were very different from the album versions which made me very happy. In fact, I barely recognized 3 Libras at first. At the end of the show they even played a new song called By And Down which was really awesome. (By the way, the video I linked to is not my own. I followed all the rules to a T. ) There were a few mistakes, such as when MJK forgot the first verse of The Outsider but it was understandable since this was the first show of the tour and you could tell they were nervous. All in all, this show was one of the single greatest experiences of my life and one I shall surely never forget. Many thanks to the band for making it possible!

Though recent interviews with MJK have him discussing the difficulty of singing/playing these songs after such a long hiatus, the guys were spot on for this second night in vegas as they played through the entire Thirteenth Step album with a couple of extras afterwards. Vocals were superb and the crowd was feeling it, pumping their fists with the strike of every power chord. While introducing everyone Maynard announced his engagement and James did another lounge act of great joke telling.. The show wrapped up with a "mashup" of Diary of a Madman and the Cure's Love Song, and ended with Lenon's "Imagine" (Since Veges would not get the third night for eMotive, this was a nice surprise both nights). It was a great opportunity to see them live again and at one of the best venues in Vegas. Cross your fingers for a new album...

This was my first time seeing A Perfect Circle live and I was not disappointed. I loved everything about this concert. I went for the "Meet & Greet" and found everyone to be friendly and gracious about the whole thing. Maynard's vocals were awesome, Billy gave me chills, Matt's bass was on fire, Josh killed the drums, and James' guitar work was understated but he still delivered. Everyone at this show had a great time, except for one a##hole in the back of the crowd who was probably drunk anyway. Please bring APC back to Seattle as soon as possible!

I waited for the next 45 minutes before they finally started letting us in. As we waited for the band to come out I started getting the same anxious anticipation that I felt when meeting Romero. I had to do a few breathing exercises to keep myself from making a jack ass of myself in front of the band as they came out and met with everyone individually. They gave everyone posters to have signed along with messenger bags (for what reason, I don't know) upon entering. They were also selling autographed posters at the merch table for a hundred, so I started thinking of the value I got for forking over the extra change. Maynard didn't say much at all, though I was more surprised that he came out at all. I wasn't expecting a hug or anything, but just talking to him for a few seconds was incredible. The rest of the band were more social, shaking hands, talking about music, life, and the possible future for the band. They were all humble and thankful for everyone coming tonight to hang out with them. Iha commented on the shirt I was wearing which brought a few lines of dialogue. I asked him about his touring with The Smashing Pumpkins, and he replied with a simple "it was great at first, until we got famous. Then everyone started being dicks, including D'arcy." After meeting the band we went to the bar for wine until the auditorium opened once again for the show. They didn't have an opening act because Maynard's son had to cancel his tour, so by 9PM sharp the band was playing "The Package", their opening track from Thirteenth Step. They performed the entire album through, taking breaks to talk to the crowd and for Iha to tell his bad jokes. Their two closing songs were the new version of 3 Libras, followed by their cover of John Lennon's Imagine. The concert was everything that I had hoped for as I stood at the right side of the stage with a clear view of the band and within reach of Howerdel and Freese. I'd also like to note that the percussion from Freese was absolutely perfect.

Great show, nothing out of whack just straight ahead bombastic playing from everyone except from Iha who is great in his own quiet, offbeat way...did not know he was a master comdedain though? Great crowd, no hassles getting in the place or out of it. Sound was good, a little on the heavy bass side, the way I like it, Iha could have been up more in the mix for my taste but overall...the essentials of the album came through. Only bad point on this evening is that there is no drinking of anything on the floor of the venue, you have to drink it in the bar area only...guess that keeps the cleanup to a minimum. Thanks Seattle from a little 'ol couple from Porter, Texas. See ya!

It was an incredible show and experience. My two nephews and I had front row seats and none of us can't stop talking about it. If you are wondering, no they do not preform Tool songs under A Perfect Circle but trust me don't let that stop you. The UIC Pavilion was nice, clean and friendly staff, good security. Beers are $9, I think 16oz. Urinals are way to close to each other, definitely the tightest I've ever seen in Chicago. Not sure if it was UIC or A Perfect Circle but pics and videos were not allowed of any kind including cell phones. Overall, it was incredible.

Headbanger4Ever
From the beginning it was just a snowball that began on top of a mountain and rolled downhill and it just picked up steam as the night progressed. 1. Parking: for Foo Fighters & Guns N Roses they charged $25, but on a night with pouring rain and 40 degrees, they charged $40 {more than a football game at Giants Stadium or Eagles Stadium... but hey you could always park 8 blocks down the road for $30 IN POURING HARD RAIN AND FREEZING BARELY 40 DEGREE TEMPERATURES ON A DARK NIGHT IN CAMDEN, SO HOORAY FOR A POSSIBLE PLAN B, RIGHT?} 2. I've previously had good experiences with the BB&T, Susquehanna, Tweeter (whoever they are now) staff, and this sadly was not that. A. I get that Maynard is nuts and stuck in 1974 or 1963 and they had to enforce the no pictures/video thing but the 1 solid impression that I had all night was of them being a concert venue staff version of England's Buckingham Palace guards {with the black fuzzy hats because I swear if they tried to crack a smile you'd hear cracks form in the foundations of their faces} outside the cops were cops, but even ones who just worked there came off as surly. I've been there before so I tried giving the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't them and Maynard brought that atmosphere and I know they wouldn't want to toss anyone out but it wasn't a warm feeling there as their staff walked up and down all night monitoring us like hawks and coming over to us like movie theater staff trying to feed us and checking to see if we wanted to order anything to the point that it was completely distracting from us from enjoying what was going on in front of us on stage to be honest. B. the staff was confusing in the sense that some said NO TEXTING, LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN YOUR POCKET, others said to go to a smoking area to send a text, and it came to the point that you're scared of touching your own phone in fear of getting harassed. {I left my phone in my pocket and one when i went to pull it out 2" to check the time a security member walked by, gave me a comment and look and I quickly shoved it back it}, none of the security staff seemed to be on the same page all night. 3. The performance: Ehhh, barely any movement, the lighting was cool, but Maynard stayed in the middle on a dark circular podium, Billy was visible, their bassist looked friendly, James Iha spoke 3 lines and was the only one to seem human, and the overall performance looked robotic honestly. 4. Songs: They didn't do Judith or Magdalena and their version of Pet was sub-par as it was VERY far from the recorded one {that's my favorite too}, it was different----OK, but not what I would've liked to hear, so that didn't help, and I wasn't fond of their set-list. {Hell, I didn't know until now that they did a Depeche Mode cover, maybe that says something of their sound} Songs performed: The Package, The Hollow, The Noose, Weak and Powerless, Rose, Imagine (John Lennon cover), By and Down, Thomas, People Are People (Depeche Mode cover), Thinking of You, Vanishing, Orestes, Gravity (tour debut), 3 Libras (All Main Courses Mix) Hourglass, Pet, The Doomed, The Outsider, Feathers No encore. They just finished. I thought maybe my sentiments were just me, but a good friend thought exactly the same. Plus I spent $90-$102 or so on a good seat and that killed the most that it was a letdown of a show. Good performance, but the set-list and how they performed that made it feel boring at times {+ their opener: The Beta Machine, not worth the time, I'd avoid them if I were you}. I do wish they I could've gotten 1 video and that was of Pet, but yeah... 5. Maynard: we get your neuroses with pictures and taking videos and such, but with what we spend to see you and how technology has moved on since you first began {plus it's not 1974 anymore, the technology is there, let the fans enjoy it, especially as since we lost Malcolm, Chris, Chester, and Tom, obviously you guys don't live forever}, so do you really need to be a nut, the atmosphere this created enveloped the venue and that brought it down a lot. As it was 60 were tossed in Reading, Pa, and obviously no one wanted to there, but his views are just silliness. It's just sad, I hoped for so much better of an experience.

Nice touch having Matt and Jeff's band open. Maynard still sounds great. Billy is the most underrated guitarist around. Look forward to a new album in 2018 and a tour to support it.

The concert was amazingly great! The only thing was one of the staff was a bit too much about cell phones. We even name her constopo lol. But otherwise an awesome time. And very happy that the concert came into our area since we thought the concert was not. So thank you.

It was annoying everywhere you looked you were warned about taking pics with your cell would lead to ejection. APC were good, but I️ was hoping for a few songs that weren t performed. I walked into the concert expecting it to be a top 5 all time for me and it just wasn t. I m a huge Maynard fan, his voice was great, but only a few times did you feel that cohesion and intensity between the band.

Only played an hour and a half. No encore. Didnt play Judith. hardy Engages with audience. I think Maynard has an issue singing anti Christian songs now.

A Perfect Circle did not totally disappoint. Magdalena was my favorite performance along with others but that one stood out. Didn't like their remake of 3 Libras and was disappointed they didn't play Judith. Other than that, I'm glad I got a chance to see them in concert.

Omg I have seen them live 3 times before this, and this was by far the best! I loved that they played songs off the remix album! And I didn't mind so much that they didn't play Judith or outsider because I've already seen them played live

The lightening was so deemed. Couldn't see the singer and the other musicians. No televised big screens. Perfect Circle didn't play Judith or 3 Libras. That was a bummer. Singing and the playing of the instruments were spot on. They did not play a encore session. That sucked.

10x better than the first time I saw them, two years ago at the Pearl. I wasn't counting on this show to be so much better than the first, as there didn't seem to be much room for improvement. Their sound live is phenomenal, I'm convinced that their worst gigs merely sound like their studio recordings. I didn't walk in with hopes I'd hear most of Emotive but I have no complaints!! At times I actually had the chills.. if you have even the slightest opportunity to see this band live, MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

The band consisting of Maynard James Keenan, Billy Howerdel, James Iha, Matt McJunkins, & Jeff Friedl seemed tighter than ever. It's really quite amazing that a band that hasn't had any new material since 2004, can still sell out concert halls. Since this was the only date in 2012, the setlist was a bit unpredictable. Playing songs off of all 3 releases the night was a nice surprise. Without the staple of "Judith" from the 1st album, Mer De Noms, a collection of cover's from eMOTIVe, and a nice selection from 2003's Thirteenth Step was presented to the Las Vegas audience upon the New Years weekend. The night was great and I highly recommend checking them out in the future, anxiously awaiting new material.

First off I have to start this by saying Maynard James Keenan is my absolute favorite musician ever! I honestly can't even describe how awesome it was to finally see him live after being a fan of APC's for the past 11 years. I actually took my 9 year old daughter with me and she was quite taken with the opening band Red Bacteria Vacuum, a Japanese trio of young women with some hardcore punk roots. They were surprisingly good and all sorts of adorable, even while screaming into the mic! As a long time fan of both the band and Mr. Keenan, I was almost in tears when my daughter sang along to each song and obviously enjoyed herself throughout the whole show. Maynard's voice was absolutely flawless. Billy Howerdel's guitar riffs and solos were more powerful in person than on the records and I just can't say enough about how great this show was!

APC sang most of their best songs. The only bad part was the song, "gimmie." lol I can only suspect the song is too harsh on maynards vocals to sing it the way it sounds on the album, but the rendition on stage just sounds really weak. It went from a hard core song to a cheer. But everything else was awesome and fully energized. The crowds energy was slowly building during the night and fully exploded by the time they performed counting bodies like sheep. I was so excited to hear blue performed because other setlists online did not list it. The obviously missed songs that fans wanted were Judith and Magdalena. My personal fav, the nurse who loved me, was not played either but understandably since they do not have the orchestra accompanying them.

RBV was full of energy and enthusiasm. They did a good job getting the crowd pumped up as the opening act. Between sets they played tracks from 'the sound of music' which was interesting, and I suppose a play on the fact that we were up in the mountains. APC was alright. This is fourth time I have seen them, second time at Red Rocks. Definitely not an energetic set. Barely addressed the audience. Honestly, in the four times I have seen them I would say this is the worst show I have seen. It wasn't altogether terrible. I know all of their music, but if someone was just a fan of their hits they would have been disappointed.

BFD 2018 was great. Great bands, great weather and more. The headliner A Perfect Circle sounded great. Vocals were on point. The musicians were flawless. The stage and light show were amazing. My only problem with the whole thing was the fact that all concert we watched a black silhouette move back and forth around a microphone stand. The purpose of a concert is to see your favorite artists perform their songs. If I wanted to watch a silhouette of someone (I still have no confirmation that was Marnard James Keenan) girate with lights behind him and hear A Perfect Circle I could have stayed home blaring my stereo and watching my hubby behind a curtain! Seriously, that could have been anyone back there lip syncing to a set list! The large screens on the sides of the stage are great for getting a good close-up look at artists even if you have lawn seats. You know what we were able to see? A larger than life black silhouette! Neat idea for a stage but actually seeing the headlining artist would have been nice!

A Perfect Circle totally fulfilled my expectations as they delivered a memorable performance highlighting their latest release Eat the Elephant . The band weaved several songs from earlier releases into a punctual aural mesh. I, being a fan from their first release was accompanied by my wife for this show. Although not a fan of heavy rock, she left the show a devotee. The stage lighting and effects flowed smoothly during and between each number adding visual stimuli to subtle nuances and solo performances of each member. Despite zero FM support for their music in the Memphis area, the Southaven audience knew each number and truly appreciated the effort from each band member to deliver caliber performance.

I went in with high expectations, and was blown away by how good they were. They played every song I had been dying to hear, and the opening with the guy playing the bass with a bow was awesome. I definitely would love to see A Perfect Circle again in the near future! However, the venue could use some upgrading. While the seats themselves are in good locations, they were not accommodating to my brothers. They couldn t physically only sit in one of the seats, and it isn t like they both are overweight. While one is, the other has broad shoulders. It was just uncomfortable. The entire place felt rigid and strict, which was only more so confirmed after the venue turned the lights on to kill the chants for an encore. I am not sure if the band asked them to not let us try and get an encore, but it was a very unpleasant way to do it. While I m sure they are looking to stop piracy with strict cell phone policies and keep people safe, I feel like some things should be approached in a more customer friendly manner. A Perfect Circle gets five stars, the Landers Center gets my real star rating.
