Local Natives

LOCAL NATIVES IN CONCERT:Local Natives are one of the finest indie rock acts to emerge from LA in recent memory, consistently delivering the goods ever since capturing the hearts of hipsters everywhere with 2009's Gorilla Manor. The band played together for several years prior to their debut release, and it shows -- their undeniable on-stage chemistry radiates into the crowd as they nail three-part harmonies on "Who Knows Who Cares" and power through extended jam sessions on "Sun Hands". Back on tour Local Natives are set to play a number of dates, treating fans to their thrilling live performances and incredible musicianship.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Four-piece indie rock outfit Local Natives formed during their college years at UCLA, where they collectively lived in a house dubbed “Gorilla Manor” – a name they later used for the title of their 2009 debut album.

Another truly outstanding show by one of the most talented bands in music today. Following the release of their incredible third album, this tour held up to the high standards of their music. I was so excited for this show, and I left delighted, yet melancholy it was over. A solid reminder why this band is one of my favorites. I will see them every chance I can.

Their music is built for the sing along intimate show like this one. I doubt Atlanta will ever get a chance to see them in as small a venue as Masquerade. The show split my wig.

The first time I heard Sun Hands I knew I wanted to see and hear this band. Fortunately, they came to the Masquerade. They are a little like a Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young for the current times. Great vocalists, great musicianship, great sound. They put on a solid show, with good energy. The openers were a nice lead-in.

This show was outstanding. Both Local and Natives and Suckers were so great. I had never heard Suckers' music and I enjoyed it so much. Their songs had a balance of wackiness and beautiful music, so good! They had such great energy too. And local natives were amazing. They played every single song off of Gorilla Manor. And the Suckers came back onstage and played with them late in the setlist. Everyone there knew all the words to all their songs and there was just so much excitement in the crowd (almost a mosh pit at one point--haha--but not really). If you get a chance to see them, gooooo!! Their music is so beautiful. Their voices are flawless and each one of them plays different types of instruments, which is really cool. Go and see them so you can (if you don't already) love them as much as I do!

On their first tour date in Atlanta, I was blown away by their live performance. They sounded great, and we even got to talk to the drummer of the band at the merchandise booth. They seemed really down to earth, and very, very talented.

They get better every single time I see them (this is about my 8th time maybe?)! Seeing them in such an intimate venue made it even better. They played some new tracks off of their upcoming album and you can see how proud they were of what they created. The new tracks were great live (made me like the singles better) and the oldies but goodies were even better.

I thought Local Natives put on a great show. They had great energy and you could tell they were trying to give the crowd their money's worth. My only knock though, is that they were too loud. Both for the venue and their style of music. The Ryman is a place where people go to hear music, and LN took away from that by cranking it up to 11. In addition, their style of music is, in my humble opinion, too nuanced to overwhelm it like they did. The distortion took away from the quality of their music.

The show was outstanding. The Local Natives presented music from Gorilla Manor and Hummingbird. They even spiced a few of the songs up, adding a little something different. The band members also were so humbling. They communicated with the crowd, which is definitely rare these days. This makes the show seem so much more personal. As for the Ryman, historically it's beautiful and there is not a bad seat in the venue. Also, the Kings of Leon and their wives were in the crowd, jamming to the music so normally. That added to the already so pleasant night.

My 18 year old daughter turned me on to the Local Natives, as she does with so much great music. They played the beautiful historic Rhyman Auditorium here in Nashville. I went to the show not really knowing all of their music but only a few songs. I was incredibly impressed with their talent - each member aside from the drummer - can change around to each others instruments. They all harmonize together BEAUTIFULLY. I fell in love! Now I cannot get the Natives music out of my head! I wish I could go to the concert again! I will definitely see them on the next tour.

Watching Local Natives' live acts on YouTube got me super pumped to see them lived. They always sound good in their acoustic sets, but my gawdd! They're amazing live. They really get the crowd pumped. The fans are amazing singing along or clapping their hands. They're exactly what a band should be: Brilliant. They didn't need overly-flashy concert work to disguise crappy music because they're THAT good. I would definitely want to see them again

I like Local Natives but I am not one of their more passionate fans. That said, I think they sounded great considering it was at Terminal 5, one of the least desirable venues to take in a show, in my opinion. Sound wise, they sounded better than most other artists I've seen play there. The crowd was into it; overall, a good experience.

I saw them at Southside and HOB. I do prefer Southside due to the overhang at HOB and the odd sounds it creates. However, the band was amazing as usual. I have seen Local Natives before, so I knew going in I was going to have a great time. This time, I was really excited to be seeing them again so I made sure to get there early to get a good spot, and I was front row right on the railing. It was mind blowing. I have never had more fun in my entire life. I've been to a ton of shows and concerts, and I swear they put their whole entire being into each performance. The show started off rough with Wild Nothing... Their sound was weird and way too loud, probably to mask the feedback that happened throughout the show. But the second the Local Natives started the crowd forgot about Wild Nothing and just went crazy for the Local Natives. It was absolutely amazing.

LN were amazing. Amazing presence - solidly got into the music and the performance. All of the members are incredibly talented musicians which is reflected by how often they switched places to play various instruments. I give a lot of credit to their sound crew as well - the instruments didn't drown out the vocals at all. I wish Wild Nothing could have taken point from the LN sound crew. Unfortunately, their vocals were a bit washed out and harder to hear.

There is nothing quite as disappointing as loving a bands album and finding out when you see them live that the recording studio is the only real talent they've got. This was NOT a problem for Local Natives. In fact, I will never listen to their album the same way after experiencing them in person. Their concert was absolutely astounding. They are an extremely talented group of musicians and put on a fun show. If I could re-live that concert 100000 times I probably would. If you get a chance to see them live do not hesitate!!! The Review Title maybe misleading but they ruined my life in the best way possible. They gave that performance 20,000% of their being like Taylor stage dived??? I touched his armpit. The lighting was superb, the general energy was impeccable. i connected to the ppl who's toes i was stepping on and i might've gotten engaged to a girl who's name i don't know. then they get to a certain part, tell you it's over and then come out again to perform like, momentary suffering. i've never experienced such a thing. i'm still squashed by that performance i can't even breathe right anymore. It ruined my life in the sense that i will never experience something so holy ever again, including my scheduled immaculate conception.

I saw The Local Natives about four years ago, and I jut discovered them, but the show was so great. I saw them at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville both times, which makes for an unforgettable concert (the acoustics are outstanding). After seeing them a second time, I was more familiar with their music and the experience was incredible. They are one of those bands that sound better live than they do than recorded. This show was an incredible display of a hungry young band showing off their exceptional work. After hearing buzz and being familiar with 2013 Single 'Breakers', my friends and I decided to get tickets to this show, and I had listened to some recordings beforehand, mostly from their album Hummingbird. Once we arrived to the show, the opener, Wild Nothings, set the atmosphere with a retro 80's catchy electro pop vibe. The venue was incredible, with house sound flooring my friends and myself. Once Local Natives took stage, they took the energy to a level that I was not expecting. Playing songs from their catalogue, I was amazed at the presence and passion these guys played every note with. They were musically, dynamically the best band I have seen live in the past 5 years. Wild Nothings started the show with an upbeat feel. The lyrics were a little garbled but I was still jamming lol. I felt their bassist's grooves in the floor while he was hopping around the stage. Awesome they were 4/5 for me. THEN LOCAL NATIVES CAME ON. They played a mix of the two albums, and almost all of my favorites. Wide Eyes, Columbia, Warning Sign, Black Balloons, Black Spot, Airplanes, World News, and Who Knows Who Cares were my favorite songs to hear them play live. They played a three song encore closing the show off with a crowd favorite from the first album "Sun Hands."

This was my fourth time seeing Local Natives and this was their best show yet. There was just an extra energy and sharpness to them this time. The set list really flowed and they played some songs acoustic which was cool. Really enjoyed them.

So.... Let's sum this up. JUST GO. Go by yourself. Go with people. Whatever, just go. If you know them, you'll love them. If you don't know them, you'll love them. They were amazing. The energy was great. The lights were awesome. They sound better live than they do on the album. How do you do that!!?? I always find that there are some imperfections live but not with them. I came out of that concert [sober] in a daze. Unforgettable.

Best concert I have ever been to. I'm glad they played a lot of their old songs and not just the new ones.

This was my thrid Local Natives show, but by far one of the best. They put on a mind blowing performance that I never would have expected. Each show they manage to become 1000x better.

These guys are extremely talented. Their live performance sounds identical to their album, seeing them play is awesome. I would see them again. Very fun show.

I had only just heard of the Local Natives a few months ago, so I decided to go see how they fare live. A couple of friends told me they were amazing in their live performances, but they were already big fans. It turns out they were 100% correct, and this was definitely one of the best live shows I've ever been to. Their stage presence and energy levels are through the roof and provide an incredibly entertaining experience, even if you're new to the band. The opening band, Wild Nothing, were also very good, and I see a lot of good things going for that band as well. Overall, I had an incredible time and really enjoyed this show!

I haven't been to a rock show in a long time where the musicians were such good singers! Local Natives had the audience standing from start to finish. You could tell they'd spent a lot of time practicing before hitting the road. Their musicianship was excellent; I was especially impressed by their drummer, who was like Animal from The Muppets through the entire show. I would definitely pay to see these guys again!

In a world full of talentless musicians and composers, there is Local Natives. A small group of "local LA natives", they have been reaching for artistic integrity through their music since "Gorilla Manor". Not only does this band excel in the studio, they excel in perfect performance on a live stage. Their musicianship is off the charts: they are talented, own their instruments, beautifully harmonize, and understand the relationship of each others' roles in their music.

One of my favorite bands now for several years. I have seen them in several locations. My favorite being Disney Hall and now at the Greek.

Why did we as a musically professional family go to hear Local Natives? They don't just sing. They sing in clean, simple and complex 3 and 4 part harmony. They don't just play an instrument. They play multiple instruments. The drummer doesn't just play drums. He invents musically unexpected rhythms and adds his sticks to the pieces like a true artist. The songs transport you into a different world. The band doesn't just shout at you all night. There were times you could almost hear a pin drop!

This was the first concert I ever went to and the experience was definitely one for the books! From the moment they stepped on that stage you can feel a certain energy radiating from the crowd and what we got in return from the band was certainly nothing compared to what we expected, it was far better... Beyond words. Overall this was possibly the best experience of my life and it made me fall even more in love with them than I ever thought possible.
