Fleet Foxes

Fleet Foxes

Indie folk pioneers Fleet Foxes earned a reputation as innovators with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2008. It shared the same name as their first EP, but it was phenomenally more successful, going on to achieve gold status in the US and platinum in the UK. Because of their distinctive sound, Fleet Foxes were immediately in demand as a live act, first showcasing at US festivals, including SXSW and the Sasquatch! Festival, then selling out concerts worldwide in countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.Fleet Foxes were formed in Seattle in the mid-2000s when Robin Pecknold and Skyler Skjelset bonded over a love of shared musical influences.

I have been a fan of Fleet Foxes for a long time, but never had the chance to see them live until now. I was so happy when they performance exceeded expectations. My heart was full by the end of the show.

Unlike their last trip to Raleigh, the weather improved the concert. Lovely spring evening made everything better and a fun coincidence to sing along to the third of May on the namesake day.

Fleet Foxes delivered a great show, despite a less-than-ideal sound mix at Philadelphia's Electric Factory. Local band Espers opened, a good musical complement, though they also suffered from muddy sound.

What can I say but, WOW. These guys are unbelievably talented musicians and their voices and harmonization are cystal clear. Their live sound was as good, if not better than, their recorded. Do yourself a favor & check this band out.

Fleet Foxes were amazing but they really needed a better venue, considering all the harmonizing with the tunes. I go to a lot of shows at the Electric Factory, but that's not the right place for Fleet Foxes. In addition to just generally bad acoustics in the place, we had to spend the last 20 minutes listening to a whistling air conditioning unit. Still, I'd recommend that everyone see Fleet Foxes if they're coming to your town.

This is my third time seeing Fleet Foxes live and each time they come to Philly, their venue gets bigger and bigger. It's nice to see a band of truly talented, interesting musicians continuously gain new fans. Their performance was tight, powerful and beautiful. My only regret is that the Electric Factory is not exactly the most ideal setting for such intimate music. The first time i saw them play was at Johnny Brendas and I will never forget being packed in that tiny bar getting blown away by their stunning harmonies. Regardless, this show was amazing and almost hypnotic. There is something so organic and entertaining when you watch them perform; there are no fancy sets, props, lights or flashy clothes yet I am captivated.

If you can ignore the 11 yuengling, cavernous echoes and horrendous vantage points that is the electric factory, this was an amazing show. They played a great set with a good mix of old and new. The encore was great and I liked how they talked about philly places like they actually know the city.

I thought the Fleet Foxes themselves were very good but there were so many people you couldn't move and it seemed like once they played White Winter Hymnal everyone lost interest and just started talking. We had to move several times due to people talking so loudly we could understand every word of their conversation over the loud music.

This was a dream come true concert for me and I wasn't disappointed. The acoustics were terrific and the performance exceeded my expectations. This is the first time I've seen this band and I drove over two hours to attend this concert. I want to see them again! Superb musicians and I am mesmerized by their ability to create this music. I didn't think the band could recreate the sound of their music on stage, but I was wrong. I don't know how they do it, but hearing this band live is nothing short of majestic!

A mixed bag of some terrific moments like when Robin was singing solo. But a very shaky start with a very muddy echoey sound mix at first and a run of new songs that clearly don t translate that well live, nor did the audience really respond to with any energy until they got into their old material. I m not just a new material hater and have really tried to like the new album and hoped it might translate better live\u2014 but it clearly did not. i ve seen them live on past tours and their newest bandmembers are solid but nothing like the soaring harmony as they had in the past. Overall disappointing, but if you ve never seen them before; there s still some great moments in there that are well worth it, but you have to sit through some rough patches to get there. Old national also is in major need of updates

I had never been to the Ryman before and could think of few bands better to see at this historic venue. The harmonies were Amazing there. The aux guy played about 15 different instruments throughout the evening. The seats were great, dont think theres a bad one in the building from what i saw, and the atmosphere was beautiful. If one of those few bands come there, ill be going back.

I saw Fleet Foxes here in May and while the venue itself was very nice- small and private- the people that attended the concert made it very difficult to enjoy. It seemed like everyone there was more preoccupied with talking and walking in front of you to get more beer than actually watching the headlining act. Why bother paying to see a band, that hasn't been on tour in ten years, if you're not going to even listen to the music. It was infuriating. As I said, the venue was nice and small and the band themselves were great- easy enough to hear (though the sound mixing for the opening act wasn't great) but the people just did not care. I've been to much larger outdoor venues that did not have this issue whatsoever. It was very disappointing.

Went with about 7 other people to see Fleet Foxes. We got there 6-7 hours early and chilled by the front, and got no grief from any employees (even made friends with one) and once we got into the venue we got up to the barricade and sang our hearts out. Had some amazing bonding moments with friends and Fleet Foxes were super entertaining the whole time. as well as the openers Amen Dunes. Still want to know what kind of tea he drank.

Out of hundreds of live concerts, this hits my top 5 easily. I generally don t favor seated concerts, cause feets got to move, but it didn t dampen this crowd. Pretty much everybody was standing 15 minutes in anyway. The vocals and instrumentals were clear and perfect, and any FF fan knows the songs are written with precision. The band members seemed to sense the crowd s excitement, and there were several bursts of spontaneous extra applause they appeared to notice. That said, there was no obnoxious yelling in the crowd, everybody was totally respectful of the music; you could hear a pin drop during quiet parts of songs. Some shows just click and the audience is in on the entire experience. This was one of those special concerts.

The sound level was uncomfortably loud, and the high pitches is inaudible. The vocals were not clear. There were no visual effects except fog machines and very basic lighting. No digital screens, no lasers, no video images. I put my fingers in my ears and then could hear much more of the high pitch vocals and acoustic guitar. I'm 51, but I noticed a young lady with her hands on her ears too. Went to the very back of the seating, and this helped a bit. The lead singer did not introduce the band, and not much connection between the band members was displayed. This was my least enjoyable concert at this venue.

In 2011, Fleet Foxes player Red Hat but had to cancel mid-set due to storm conditions. This year they finally returned and were just as great. The venue is just okay. The staff and security were all very nice and helpful, but the chairs are pretty rusty and they re packed together like sardines in a can, so if you re stuck near two drunk couples who alternated between talking loudly and making out, you re pretty much stuck. But the band was great and that s what counts. Here s hoping they come back soon but to a different venue.

They just sounded terrible. Firstly, whoever the sound guy was did a terrible job. Apart from when the lead singer was on stage singing solo with just an acoustic guitar, the remainder of the show sounded muffled and the vocals were completely drowned out by the sound. It was so bad you could barely understand the lyrics. However, even when you strip the sound away, the lead singer and backup vocals/harmonies were just off and often times you could see them straining/not hitting on certain notes which is where the band shines on their albums. Setlist was also really uninspiring as you could feel the audience longing to get engaged, but lots of people headed for the exits once they played Mykonos. Definitely not worth the money and will probably change your opinion of the band for the worse.

I didn't discover fleet foxes until 2014, and by then they were long gone, nowhere to found touring, no word of forthcoming albums. Virtually disappeared. Nevertheless I subscribe to songkick so I knew they would be in Chicago. Four of us packed up from Indy and headed out. They played at the Chicago theater. The venue was great, excpect for the strange echo in the balcony seats. What I loved most about this concert is their willingness to play songs from their first two albums despite being there to promote their third album, "CRASH" . I'm sure it's hard to play songs you've played 100 times, but hopefully some part of you still loves it enough to play. It was a great combo of nostalgia, and new. I loved the concert so much. Thank you Robin for playing your heart out, and indulging fans with the very music that allowed many of us to fall in love in the first place. Great job.

Drove 4 hours from Orange County specially to see the Fleet Foxes for the 3rd time - great show as always! The sound had to be adjusted after the first song, but after that, each song was more clear. Their new album, "Crack Up" is amazing, and they worked some of the new songs into their repertoire; the new album is a little different from some of their previous work, but you can hear Robin's theatre experience coming through in this one. Each member of the band is very talented in their own right, and it's interesting watching them switch out different guitars and other instruments during the show. Ultimately, a cacophany of wondrous music, sounds and voices!! To say it was enjoyable is an understatement, and the happy energy coming off other members of the audience added to the atmosphere. Thank you, Fleet Foxes - Youre the best!!

Everything that i hoped, dreamed and expected from this show didn't happen. Everything MORE than i could have hoped, dreamed, expected or that i could have ever imagined this night to bring happened. The Walkmen who opened up for them (who i had never heard before) blew my mind because i had zero preconceptions about them. So that was a good surprise, an extra lil thing thrown in there. Then, Fleet Foxes, performed the most sincere, warm, and triumphant performance. Just to be in a very beautiful theater as opposed to a smaller local venue makes the experience so much more enjoyable to begin with. The sound was like all of the instruments and their vocal chords and microphones were floating in the clouds echoing in the sunset then raining onto my face. My heart was so filled with honor to see such wonderful, wonderful musicians and to see Robin and hear His voice at the same time is so unreal because I've listened to his music so many times over and over. The setlist was either created by a creeper who listened to me talk about all the songs i wanted to hear at the show, or the band are all telepaths. I was thrilled to hear so many songs from myriad albums. Then, after the show my devotion for the band was completed. I met every member, greeted so warmly each time. It makes me so happy to meet people with such big hearts and so much talent. Also, for them to share the whole night with us, with so many songs that pleased so many people, then to talk with us and be so patient with thousands of new faces, is really nice. They're all just really nice. I love all of them.

As always Fleet Foxes gave a beautiful performance of vocal harmonies, folk music, and acoustic guitar. Tickets weren't too expensive and I genuinely thought I was getting what I paid for. I thought that the set they played on was very distracting, they had a back drop displaying a repetitive pattern of diamonds and dots. I would've liked the band to have my full attention.

Fleet Foxes is one of my favorite bands in recent years, and I love their albums. Their performance was 100x better than just hearing the music alone. They put on an EPIC show, and it would've been worth at least 3x more than what I paid for the ticket. The band played songs from all of their albums, put together great sets, and didn't leave the audience wanting (well, except for a longer show, perhaps). Every single person in the house was thrilled.

Ethereal... Transcendent... Uplifting.... Haunting... and all with such delicate intricacies while at the same time, KICK ARSE!!! This is one talented band, with unique songwriting, outstanding musicianship, and infectious camaraderie on stage... lovely to see, since Robin Pecknold has oft been accused of introversion... and he was dare I say? positively interactively charming!!! Glad we got to see them live before the End of the World tonight... It would have been one of my deepest regrets to know I had never seen FF live on stage... I've loved Fleet Foxes since I was 17. I'm 25 now and have dreamt of seeing them for years. Finally they toured close to me! I was ecstatic and my excitement was completely warranted. The band was incredible. The energy was high throughout the whole performance. I've never seen so many instrument changes during performances in my life! The whole experience was magical. Robin Pecknold's voice is just as impressive live. The songs that he preformed by himself on the stage were just as captivating as those performed with the whole band.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting to love this show so much. Robin and the band came out and started right up with some new material. The music was completely transcendent. It was a slow burn to the end. The sound was perfect not a single technical issue. His vocal was like listening to an angel. Clear with incredible vocal range and the songs were so emotional I saw many people crying at different points in the show. I've never seen that before & I've been to ALOT of shows. It is more of a down tempo show but even if your a casual fan of this band I would highly recommend this band AND this venue!

We own all of Fleet Foxes catalog on vinyl but this was our first time seeing them live and to be honest we weren t sure how well their intricate harmonies and multi instrumentation would translate to the live stage. We needn t have worried. They were wonderful in every regard. Not only musically tight but so well organized that there was almost no downtime between songs. The only criticism has nothing to do with the band. We attend a lot of shows and more and more people seem to be attending who just talk loudly the whole time which is especially annoying with a band like Fleet Foxes. A group of young guys next to us spent much of the evening conducting a business deal!!

I loved hearing the Fleet Foxes live. They sounded wonderful. Unfortunately, I was not actually able to SEE the band since the House of Blues does not have designated seating. The result was despite being there quite early, I had to sit most of the concert on a sofa while watching the concert on the video screen. Either don't sell so many tickets that people cannot stand and watch the band, or offer designated seating. I'll never go to the House of Blues again.

Robin Pecknold and company were absolutely fantastic! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, I cannot recommend Fleet Foxes enough!!!! The new album is a bit of a departure from the first two, but in a really mature, rich, incredible way. Same amazing songwriting, same haunting vocals, but with a few more instrumental bells and whistles. Robin did the best songs from all three albums, and the performance was spot on and heartfelt. My second Fleet Foxes show since the band's inception, and will definitely see them again anytime they play Chicago!

Fleet Foxes will not disappoint. Seeing them at the Chicago Theater was one of the highlights of the year for me. Their sound is precise and harmonious. Don't miss seeing them live.

The sound engineering seemed to be geared toward an outdoor festival. The sound was loud for the sake of loud. All subtlety was lost. Left after a few songs.

I had never seen them before but I can GUARANTEE I will see them again. That is how good they were. The harmonies! The musicianship! Only one other group made me gasp out loud at how good they were this year and that was Tears For Fears.

Fleet Foxes put on a great show. I've been listening back to all their albums since the show and hearing new things to appreciate and enjoy. I liked being up close and seeing the band, but I found the speakers in the venue to detract from the experience by being too loud up close. Further back, the sound quality/volume was much better and enjoyable.

Saw the Fleet Foxes here and it was a great experience. Since my wife is pregnant it was crucial that we have seating and bathrooms nearby. The Fleet Foxes were absolutely amazing we drove 5hours from San Diego to see them. I love this band, they have brought me joy and have gotten me through hard times over the years.

Bigger and more intimate than on record. I came late to the party with the Crack Up but I will definitely buy their first two albums now. .

This site did not let me choose "O" stars. The opening act, Natalie Prass was excruciatingly loud, and an awful compliment to Fleet Foxes. Strictly for teens that are trying to destroy their hearing. Fleet Foxes toned it down a notch, but it needed to be 4 to 6 notches lower. The "festival" STANDING, pushed seated fans to the back of the room and to the rafters. Can I have my money back ?

Fleet Foxes were awesome! I loved that the venue was small enough that they could hear requests yelled out between songs and Robin always answered.. that was great! My only complaint is that the drums and bass were so loud (for the opening act too) that I couldn't hear the vocals very well. Usually his voice is clear and easy to understand when listening to their songs, but at the concert I could only catch a third of his words. It was just too loud for the size of the theater maybe.

The sound system at Grand Sierra Resort Theatre was abysmal. We were in front row and had to move to the back and it was still distorted. The lovely voice and beautiful harmonies - what should be a delicate sound - were ruined. The redeeming factor was that at least they played some old favourite songs (with melodies!) because the new album rambles incoherently. The high spot was the tribute to the late, great Jackson C Frank, playing his best-known song, Blues Run the Game.

I love, love the Fleet Foxes, but the GSR ballroom, with its strobes and pounding sound system, did nothing to enhance the beautiful melodies created by this talented group. The sound was way too loud which was only enhanced by the nearly 2/3 empty ballroom. I'm seeing them again next week at the Red Rock Amphitheater in CO, a venue much better suited to the Fleet Foxes enchanting harmonies.

I don't if it was their intention to blind the audience so we could not see them perform because they had a bank of bright LED lights at the back of the stage pointed directly at the audience. This prevented you from being able to see them and to not even wanting to look at the stage. Someone finally shouted out from the audience and complained and they turned them off. I don't know what idiot thought up this light show. Also, the acoustics were awful and everything sounded muffled and dull. I am not sure if it was the venue or the performers because the last time I saw them at the Paramount I had a similar issue. It seems the sound gets better as the show goes along especially when they did songs acoustically. If the Fleet Foxes perform at the Paramount again I will probably skip.

Fleet Foxes satisfied my wife and me with a superb mix of old and new material. Their musicality, harmonies, and broad range were well beyond our expectations. And the audience was totally engaged. From a staging perspective, the use of back lights and screen amplified the music's impact. The down side was the sound amplification. We haven't attended too many concerts where we literally felt the bass in the mezzanine. It was really too loud. What saved us were quality ear plugs. Shouldn't really be needed, especially when the band thrives on subtlety more that bombast.

Fleet Foxes is such a great, tight band, with beautiful melodies and mellow vibe. I wish I could have enjoyed the show, but the volume at the Paramount was monumentally loud, also for the opener, that it ruined the experience for me. I hope someone is sound checking the rest of the tour from the audience perspective.

Yet again, Fleet Foxes exceeded all expectations you could ever ask for. Goosebumps on goosebumps. Pure magic. The vocal and musical talent these guys have, especially Robin, is unbelievable. How can you sound the same, if not better than your recorded albums?! So many guitar and instrument changes executed seamlessly. This band will forever be one of my favorites and I'm SO excited I was able to be there last night! What a magical evening! I love you @fleetfoxes !!!

I have been to this theater for many shows in many seats, so not sure if it was the fact I was up in the 3rd balcony or if the sound system was bad. The vocals of both the opening act and the Fleet Foxes were too quiet and very muffled, and the sound quality was very buzzy and muffled in general. Could not understand the lyrics most of the time. I love the Foxes and was glad to support them anyway, but myself and both of my brothers were very disappointed in the quality of the sound.

I attended the first of two homecoming shows for Fleet Foxes at the Paramount. I had seen them earlier in May at the Showbox which was a great show. Between that show and this one, I had a chance to listen to "Crack Up" multiple times, each time gaining new appreciation for the music. That said I was looking forward to this show. Overall, I enjoyed the show, especially the second half with solo numbers from Robin. The stage setup was great and the sound improved throughout the show. Robin dropped in anecdotes throughout the show which was enjoyable, especially the references to Seattle area. The only major drawback, which several of my friends mentioned as well, was the lighting for those of us up in the balcony. The subtle lighting, which I happened to like was offset by blinding busts of light seemingly aimed at the balcony. It was a huge distraction from being able to enjoy the show. Someone shouted out towards after many songs to turn down the lights which they did. The second half was received much better as a result. In conclusion, it was a great show that could have been an excellent show. I certainly would like to see them again should they return.

Sound was mediocre. Lead singer's voice was drowned out by the bass and keyboards. Only times it wasn't was when the band wasn't playing. Old songs sounded pretty good, new songs not so much. I've seen better shows by them in the past. Opening act vocalist was also drowned out by her band. Couldn't make out one word of what she was singing. A disappointing night of music.

I've been waiting a long time to see Fleet Foxes and I was not disappointed. It was pure beauty, I have nothing bad to say. But the opening act was just about the worst opening act I have ever seen. The sound was awful and the lead singer was flat the entire time.
