Boston

Active for nearly 40 years, Boston’s combination of hard progressive rock, phenomenal guitar work, and soaring vocals is still as riveting and relevant as ever. In 2013, the acclaimed rockers dropped their sixth studio album – and first since the death of lead singer Brad Delp in 2007 – Life, Love & Hope. Delp sings on a handful of the tracks, while several other vocalists fill out the rest of the album. 2012 saw the band touring for ticket holders across the country, performing fan-favorite songs from their hit-filled back catalogue.

WMGK house band Kategory 5 kicked off a great night of rock & roll. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts proved they can rock with the best. Boston had the place rocking all night. Both Joan Jett and Boston played song, after song with very little talk in between. From one great song right into another. It was just one great night.

The choice of music was not great. A few of the songs were instrumentals only and I found that annoying. Should have focused more on all the music from the "Boston" album. That was a great album, but just a select few from it.

Long time (no pun intended) Boston fan, but first time I actually saw them in person. Old favorites were great to hear, although the vocals kept it from being a perfect show. First show of the tour and it looks like they still have some tweaks to work out. Somewhat refreshing to have an old time rock concert, compared to the big production shows that seem to be the way things are done today. They just came out and rocked.

Sorry to say that although it was their first stop on the tour, I think they could have done a more professional job. In particular, the sound was muddy and a bit too loud. Of course the voice was not the same but tht's to be expected under the unfortunate circumstances.

To the band Boston Been seeing this band of years. Tacoma Dome for Third Stage 7/31/87. Cool. Went to the tribute show on the water for Brad in Boston, took R and B to the show and We have the shirts from the show. Took R to see the band in ATL. with Styx 8/17/08 always try to see them when I can. Seen at least one show from each tour and I can't wait for the next stage of the band. To the band: I'd like a shot at the singing job if the chance should come up. Wish I could buy a DVD from the band. The internet stuff isn't in any quality at all. RFF

Boston still alive and well in 2010! Work on another studio album IS progressing but at an agonizing slow rate..I do not want to give much info about the new album - It will have the very recognizable BOSTON sound...I think everyone will enjoy it as long as they like big band swing & rap...JUST KIDDING! This is the second time I have seen Boston in Cedar Rapids in the past 21/2 years. They were simply amazing the first time and equally as good the other night. The lead singer Tommy DeCarlo was outstanding. A couple of years ago when I seen them, Tommy was not out front performing like he did the other night. His vocals and his showmanship was top notch. The bass guitar player Tracy Ferrie was great too. Thank You for another great evening - Boston. Memories I'll never forget!!!!

Whenever I consider going to a concert by an act that their "hey-day" has been a few decades ago, I always wonder how good they will still be. This is valid especially since, in the case of a band, will there be any original members? Let me tell you, Boston did not disappoint! This concert was incredible...from the vocals to the stage setup/show. I would definitely go, again. I only spent $20 for the ticket and had a great seat...best concert value ever!

I enjoyed Boston very much! Waited a long time to see them & glad I finally got to go. They played all their hits & oldies that we know & love. Also added a new song. The band was energetic, never took a break. They featured keyboard & guitar solos occasionally. Since this is called The Hyper Space Tour, the background videos were awesome-featuring a lot of space & space travel. I wish I could have that entire video! I totally recommend going to see this band.

My friend and I attended the Boston Hyper Space Tour on May 5th in Nashville - we were NOT disappointed! I had heard Boston many years ago at the Minnesota State Fair and while they were great then, they have upped their showmanship another level. The projection screen is 2nd to none with all of the timed events you would expect from a Tom Scholz production. Vocals were spot on. Yes, we all miss Brad, but Tommy does an amazing job covering all of the parts and closing my eyes, I could not tell the difference - hats off to you Tommy! As a keyboard player, I have always loved Tom's playing and he didn't disappoint on the Hammond. If I had one complaint, I thought the keyboard could have been louder on Long Time, but this was minor. This is a must-see show if you are a fan of Boston!

I have seen Boston a few times - the last being 1987 at Starwood Ampitheatre. This show was fantastic. The band was very tight - the music was excellently played and the new singer - who took Brad Delp's place, is actually better live than Delp was... if you are a 40-60 yrs old and grew up listening to band's like Boston, Aerosmith, etc then you need to go next time they are in your area - you WILL NOT regret it - all I can say is WOW! They really were great.

Of course I was in row 7, but it was one of the best concert experiences I've ever had...and at age 55 I have been to a lot! Accoustics were great, songs were great, and the overall show was outstanding! Loved it when Tommy DeCarlo was singing and walked to the edge of the stage, and a couple in the front row immediately stood up and took a selfie in front of him...and he stood there singing while they took the photo!

Anytime Boston is touring, I'll end up going to the venue they visit closest to me. Been doing it since 1995 when I started going to concerts. Been a lot of turnover in the band over the years but the current lineup seems to have really found their sweet spot. This was one of the best performances I've seen in several shows. Absolutely love Jeff Neal on drums and hope he's more of the permanent presence behind the kit. Tom continues to engineer and put on one helluva show; musically and visually.

Tom Sholtz has put together an amazing group to continue the Boston legacy. Great sound and lights. Only nit pick is the venue needs a way to move air around in the front sections. BOSTON played all of their old hits and several newer releases. Soaring guitars and awesome keyboard work!! The band sounded really "tight" and their vocals were spot on. They sounded exactly like the original studio cuts---simply AMAZING!! If they play within driving distance of where you live, do not miss this concert! Side note: Audience age ranged from 70's to 20's, exemplifying the BOSTON's cross-generational appeal. Everyone had a great time.

Tom Scholes, what more needs to be said? The man is a genius songwriter, composer, and keyboard/guitar god. Hearing those Boston classics on the radio all these years then seeing them played live can only be compared to hearing a rocket blast off for years then seeing it in person actually lift off from the launch pad. And the venue was simply amazing. Not a bad seat in the house, acoustics were spot on. The show was loud but not overbearing yet each string picked or vocal sung was as clear as sitting in a coffee house.
