Wanda Sykes

Wanda Sykes has been deemed one of the funniest stand up comics by her peers and ranks among Entertainment Weekly's 25 Funniest People in America. Sykes was seen on several television shows over the past two years. This year she made a return to HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” starring opposite Larry David. In 2010 she starred on her own late night talk show on FOX, “The Wanda Sykes Show”.

This was a great night of continuous laughter! Even Keith Robinson, her opening act, was hilarious. The meet & greet was awesome. Thought is was very generous that the VIP ticket proceeds went to Second Harvest Heartland, where my wife and I have volunteered. I liked that Wanda made her performance 'personal', joked a lot about her family and real happenings.

Wanda was hilarious even with her bout of bronchitis. She was funny and told it like it was. She didn't pull any punch. Current topics were covered and in her own way she was honest and had us all laughing. There was a few slow moments but the crowd was not into her as much as I had wished. She bounced back and got on a roll. I was a little surprised at her petite size and her soft voice. Overall it was a funny, honest, and interesting show . Yes, I would pay to see her again just to see her when she was on her game (but I don't think she was off that much) and not fighting a sickness.

Great show! She is absolutely hilarious!! The only negative thing I can say for her "True Colors" show is that I think she could have use some gay-humor segments. I must say that I was completely surprised to see that 80% of the audience was GLBT, it would have been nice for her to give back to the community that obviously came out to support her.

Wanda is amazing! She is so funny and articulate. Her show was so up to date with what is going on and relates everything so well. I can't wait to hear from her for years to come on her new twins; should be some great material. WIll go see her again if she comes back to Dallas and tell everyone to go. She's great! I had seats on the 2nd row and Wanda is just beautiful in person; certainly does not look 45. I was at the show with 2 people in their 70's and they just loved it. Keep on performing Wanda! Wanda Sykes gave a great performance as she talked about aging (although 45 hardly seems old), her pride in our first African American President (unless he messes up), and the challenges of having twin infants with her wife at this relatively late age. She touched on lots of things audience members identified with. People all around us seemed to be in conversation with her as they responded very directly with her take on life.

She made me laugh the minute she walked on stage. Her style is so unique and she just makes me laugh. She started off with a Michael Jackson topic so we knew immediately this was new stuff - not something she was going from place to place doing the same jokes over and over like some comedians do. She was on stage for well over a hour and I did not feel shortchanged at all. The venue was perfect - not too big. Her opening act was also very funny - don't remember his name but he was very good. I would definitely go see her again if she comes back to the area.

Wanda's show was boring. She needs a routine that's NOT ALL ABOUT HER FAMILY> Her open act, Keith Robinson, was not funny. I found him to be rude.....He doesn't have to use curse words thru out his routine..... He could take a lesson from Cedric or Sinbad.....both had me laughing without cursing.

The show was opened by Keith Robinson who proceeded to make rape jokes for a good portion of his set. Tried to enjoy Wanda afterward, but just couldn't. Know your audience. Most of the people at the show were women and lesbian. Was so disappointed. Rape is never funny.

I was disappointed in Wanda Sykes. I do not pay money to listen to a performer's political stance! Not everyone has the same views, and therefore it should be left out of the act. Plus, her monologue included Ferguson. Our city has been hurt physically and emotionally by the incidents in Ferguson, I thought it was very poor taste for her to be saying "burn baby burn". And, don't even get me started on her talking about the police. Many people were leaving from my area. I stuck it out in disgust, but if I could have gotten my money back, I would have been leaving as well. Her show did get better after she finished with these 3 topics, but by then I was very disappointed in her!

I only laughed once during her entire show. Very disappointing as I have always liked Wanda Sykes. I expected the political comedy, but it wasn't the least funny. It was more like a rant. As a mother I found the racist jokes not funny at all. She referred to her self as the help just because she was black and her children are white. WEll I am a white mother to white children and deal with the same things. Not Funny!!

We were laughing from the moment we got in line to see Wanda Sykes. Her head of security came out and tried to make sure we had fun until we were allowed inside. Drinks were spendy, but good. Show started 10 minutes late, but was worth the wait!

I've loved this woman for years and to see her in person was a dream come true. I live two hours from Riverside and it was the worth the drive. She did use a bit of her material from a previous show but overall I laughed so hard my stomach hurt when I left. Wanda Sykes is talented and funny and I would see her again in a heartbeat. The venue was small and the staff was really good about making sure people kept their cell phones from lighting up every 30 seconds.

Overall, Wanda was pretty funny. I appreciated her jokes about Trump. But I was really disturbed and upset when she started saying, "If my wife left me, I'd end up like one of those guys in the "me too" stories," and then continued to joke about her being single and creepy towards women. She joked about sexually harassing her "super cute" gyno. Not funny. I expected better from her.

The show was hilarious. The opening act by Chloe set the stage for a good night. While obviously under the weather Wanda did not disappoint. She was relative to the current times and made me laugh so much that my stomach hurt. The Chealier theatre is conveniently located, but a theatre much in need of an update. The seats do not rise enough to see beyond the people in front of you. Folding chairs were squeezed into handicap spots which added to the difficulty of seeing. There was also a foul smell of sewerage. Overall, I would say definitely go see Wanda. My next event at the Chevalier would have to be the perfect seat, which might be hard to come by.
