El Debarge

So I knew I would enjoy El DeBarge because his music is the soundtrack to my teenage years. What I didn't expect was him to entertain with such youthful exuberance and relevance to today's culture and standard of entertainment- he was simple awesome. He performed all of his hits and his family standards, plus Michael Jackson, some R&B classics, and straight out party music. He's pure talent- he plays the keyboard, dances, and sings with no back-up singers or fillers. He's voice is like silk, he's still got it!

I was very excited to see El Debarge as I saw him last year at BB Kings and his performance was AMAZING. So amazing that I came back. Needless to say the combination of bad sound, El not singing the songs fully, performing for less than hour, not having an opener and El not being fully in the moment made this difficult to watch. Many of the patrons at my table shared the same sentiment.

Great concert! I felt lucky to see El Debarge since i don't recall him touring anywhere on the east coast since the breakup of Debarge. The show starts with soo much energy with "Stay with me" which has a rap of Biggie Small toward the end that has everyone on their feet. From there its classic after classic, "All this love", "Time will reveal", "I like it", "A dream", etc... El does a cool verison of Marvin Gaye's "I want you" as well as new joints "Second Chance" and "Closer to you". One of the best concerts of 2010. If you like old school R&B or just brothers that can sang with a high pitch ( sounds like his records), its worth the price of admission. I'm ready for the album to drop. Check it out, you won't be sorry..... Support real music! Later....

El Debarge put on an excellent concert he sang as well as he did in the 90's. Would love to see him again. He was unforgettable....

But I knew that when I heard "Second Chance" and saw his performance on the BET Awards. We gave him love from beginning to end by overwhelming singing every lyric to his classics as well as his favorite covers. His unmistakable and on point falsetto brought me back to a time when I would play his records over, and over, and over, and over again. If that wasn't enough, he blessed us by honoring his late brother Bobby covering Switch's greatest hits which I used to play over, and over, and over, and over as well. I am anxiously awaiting his album release scheduled to drop 11/30/10 - which I know will be played over, and over, and over, and over...... :-D

I'm a huge fan of El - his voice is still amazing!

I am a long time El Debarge fan, and I absolutely love his music! He is one of the most talented musician and singer of our time, and his music transcends time and age groups. Even through all of the struggles he has had in his life, it is wonderful to see him triumph and make a come back.

Great show from beginning to end. El showed up and showed out. The audience was totally involved. It was amazing and electrifying.

Even in the midst of screaming and squealing women, El sang every note of every hit by DeBarge, El DeBarge and even a medley of Switch hits. He performed a few covers and re-mixes, plus a few new hits. He sounded like a studio recording and moved like he was 20 again. In ATL, we were feeling El and he was obviously happy to be back doing what he loves. Support this man and his music!

This was the best concert I have been to in a long time. El Debarge has not changed, his voice was amazing. thanks for coming to the ATL in a small venue like this. I felt like we were in his living room just jamming.

El Debarge was fantastic!!! He sounds and looks the same as he did when I was younger. He came out on stage extremely stylish in red and black and his performance was unforgettable. I wish the artists these days could have that uniqueness that El Debarge brings. Everyone in the house yearned for more! Old songs like Rhythm of the Night and I Like It made my heart flutter!! I truly enjoyed this concert and I'm looking for his next venue!!! I can't wait for his cd to come out on Nov. 30!! That night V103 played his music back to back and I fell in love with the thought of love all over again. Love is missing in the music these days. I'm thankful that the Lord allowed El Debarge the opportunity to entertain us again!

I left work early pretending to be sick to be at this concert because I could not miss it for the world. It was worth it!! He performed all his classics of course and even performed a couple of hits from his brothers' band Switch. His voice was as smooth as ever and when he hit those high notes the crowd went crazy!

Thw show was amazing and I liked the small intimate setting. He has still got it, the voice, the great looks, he's the entire package!

El DeBarge has still got it. He didn't miss a beat during this concert. His voice was flawless as he hit all those high notes. And he was getting his dance ON. He came to give a great show while having a great time himself. And he was genuinely appreciative of the fans and accolades that he received all night long. I would've paid more for this show for sure.

Do not miss this man when he comes anywhere near your town. This brother can out sing half the people on the radio today. El sang some Debarge hits and took us back in the days with some SWITCH. AND... He thrilled the crowd even more when he had his brother Chico join him on stage!!! I'm ready to do it again El !!!

El Debarge was very entertaining. Excellent show! Great voice!

OMG, El was excellent,, he still has it !!! He put on a superb performance, he stayed on for about 1.5hr, and performed the entire time. He even brought his brother Chico out to do some songs with him. I'm happy i went. I just hope the El stays strong and keeps his eye on the prize.

The show was 40 minutes late stating. When he did his 75-80 minute set, not the normal 90, there was no call back song even though the crowd waited. We were quickly scooted out so the could get ready for the next show. He didn t play a lot of his big hits. I go to B.B. KINGS all the time and was really disappointed. I even wonder if they are above code because people were crammed in and it was SRO. I had two assigned seats but that means nothing. I was told it was SRO. When I told them I had just had a total Knee replacement, rather than trying to accommodate me, I was asked if I had made arrangements for a disability space. Why would I do that since I allegedly had two seats reserved. I finally did find two empty seats in GA. The table that let us join them said they had been there since 2:30 for a 7:30 show! And the seats weren t that good. Reservations at B.B. Kings mean nothing unless you are a VIP or rent a booth for four. All it does is seemingly let you in. Oh, and there were no tee shirts or CDs for sale. Very diasspointed and I ll think twice before I go back. I already have tickets to Spyro Gyra. I guesss I have to get there at 5 to actually get a seat.

With all he's been through, El DeBarge can still sing with that powerful falsetto! He is still a showman and it doesn't hurt that he's still easy on the eye's!! Love him !! BB Kings is a good venue because it is an intimate venue where all seats are good but be prepared to be crowded in at your table that you share. Unfortunately the service there is subpar, if you want more than 1 cocktail better order them upfront and hope you get them in less than half an hour but seeing El in an intimate venue was worth the thirst!!

I saw El at the Hollywood Casino in Toledo, OH and he was epic El. Voice hasn't lost one note and he's still got it. I have been a huge fan since he was first introduced to us with his siblings. Every venue I will always be there.

He sings and dances like its 1985. Would absolutely go see again. Talked to the audience and involved us. Danced into the crowd. Trying to get tickets to see his next show.

The ONLY reason why he didnt get 5 stars was because he left out hits. Whos holding donna, you wear it well, etc. He could have sang a few more top hits and new stuff that he said was coming out this summer. Otherwise, he was like a 20 year old on stage.

My husband is a big fan, We re-lived our teens and twenties. I forgot that he sang some of my favorites tunes. El had lots of energy. He really put on a good show. A true entertainer. We will definitely see him again. Do yourself a favor, get your tickets!! The venue setting is intimate and the food and service were very good.

This show amazed me. I love how El pulled the people on stage and danced with them. He still sounds good and he can still get down!

Song selection, vocals, lyrics, energy, wardrobe, emotional delivery, audience engagement, stage presence, 'AND' response to the crowd's encore was ALL on point! El DeBarge IS the Total Package when it comes to his artistry and his physical beauty is the pretty bow placed on top of that package. El IS-A-BEAST. He's a master of his craft. NO OTHER ARTIST (PAST OR PRESENT) CAN COMPARE. Iconic.... Legendary..... Music royalty at it's best! That's why I've crowned him 'The' Undisputed Sensual King of Pop HipHop and R&B.

I went to go see El Debarge at the Birchmere on Sunday, October 2nd and the performance was phenomenal. The show started perfectly on time and he sung all his old popular songs and was very interactive with the audience. El really sung his heart out and did some other songs that kept the audience dancing and singing along. The Birchmere is a really nice venue and allows artists to give intimate performances that you will remember for a lifetime.

His performance was unforgettable, my wife and I had a great time. I remember the DeBarge family as a kid in the early 80s, and their music has always stuck with. Once the opportunity came to see El DeBarge 30 plus years later, I jumped on it. As the song by Shalamar said a " night to remember" that it was; his performance was on point, El's vocals sounded as they did in the beginning of his career. The venue that hosted his performance, The Birchmere in Alexandria, VA. offered quality service, food and drink. In the likelihood that El DeBarge should return to Maryland, D.C., or Virginia in the near future we will definitely go to his show.

Baby Boy still has it! He gave a great show. He danced with the ladies on stage and came down on the floor and walked among the people. What more do you want? And, we called the man for an encore..."El, El, El!" He can back a did some more. These intimate venues are the best because you can get up close and personal, feeling less like a number while getting some good entertainment. Keep touring and performing, El Debarge! We love you!

He did a great concert! I Just wished he sang All this love is waiting for you in its entirety. Great concert!

Few artists are in El DeBarge's class and no artist does Falsetto better! He is a perfectionist that deserves endorsements and his own band! His shows are not promoted as well and he should do some of his later records but still there is no better concert than his! Note to El: Lose the beard!

The performance was great! I sat to the table right near the stage. The songs took me back to my childhood. El came out and twirled my hand from the stage. I started screaming "We love you El" If he comes back to the DMV area , i will attend another show.

El Debarge was amazing! Such a fun night! He sounded great.

EL could not lose in a room full of women. He's still that smooth, soft voice, balladeer. His dancing skills aren't bad either. Enjoyed the show.

El DeBarge put on one of the best shows I have ever seen at The Birchmere. His voice is in tip-top condition still able to hit the high registers from 20+ years ,ago. He sang all of the hits in a well-paced 90 minute set, He had fun too, inviting ladies up on stage to dance with him, to their delight. He was backed by a set of world-class musicians, but needed no backup singers to cover him. Truly an outstanding performance!

Mr. Debarge never took the stage. After 30 minutes of lead-ins and emcees asking, "Are u ready for El Debarge?," he never took the stage. The DJ abruptly announced the concert was over and asked everyone to leave. There was no explanation given. This was the most bizarre concert event I've ever seen.

Hi. El was fantastic! He sang all the great oldies and some Switch songs 2! He did some Marvin Gaye, Commadores and EWF! He played the keyboards, danced and of course gave us that great falsetto, hitting all the 5th octave notes! He got standing ovations from ladies and men! He was phenomenal! He came back and did an encore! He was awesome!

El was really great! I just can't tell you how amazing he sounds after all these years. Very entertaining show with lots of surprises. Well worth the cost of admission. Great crowd (minus one later who just looked at here twitter feed all night - why come?). El had the crowd enthralled from start to finish. Great night!!!! Good seats to the right of the stage but at BB kings your neighbors do play a part in the experience most of my table was great one person was very annoying. Her first (and hopefully last time at bb kings) She was upset when people were tapping on the table .. to the beat what a moron.

BB Kings is overrated and very expensive! The service was lousy! Our view was obstructed by people who did NOT pay to sit. The opening act "Jackie Cage" was on too long. El Debarge performed like an hour which was NOT long enough. He's a great singer but did not sings many songs from his last album, Second Chance..:-( Instead he sang a song by the Commadores and Stevie Wonder whom I like as well but I pay to hear his songs!!! He did sing his old jams!!! Whoever is booking his shows needs to SKIP BB Kings!!! Many of hid fans were complaining and felt that they did not get their monies worth! I would not recommend this place!

El Debarge is an amazing singer. I felt that my family and I couldn't see him too well because of where we were seated. The venue was overcrowded and I feel that he should've been able to sing more of his greatest hits. The food was good and the waiter was great. His customer service was awesome. I would come again but it should be where everyone is able to see and not have to block other people's views.

El was amazing! He danced and sang to all of our favorites. I was not a fan of the opening act. But that is a personal choice of music genre. Nonetheless we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Met new people and partied with them!

El debarge still got it after all these years. The best live performance I have seen seen in a very love time!!

I'm a strong supporter of El Debarge I've been coming out to support him since his comeback in 2010. I traveled from Chicago to New york Taking the Greyhound Bus I got stranded for 5 hours on the road in Pennsylvania but I got to BB Kings in Time to see el I really only seen his performance which was Great as always. This was my first time there at BB Kings inside the venue was nice and one of the staff was considerate of the fact that i was going to be late because i was stuck on the road however El management team and The security Guards there weren't very considerate and The security Guard spoke very rude to the fans that just wanted to say hi to el it was only a few of us. El's set is always short why i don't know because he has a lot of great amazing songs the crowd sings and call his name in order for him to comeback on stage to sing again and i really wish he would stay on longer or at least still have something else special going on for the fans that spend 50-100 dollars then it's like he's rushed off stage in a half hour to an hour. On the other hand el is always a Great Performer and I recommend Seeing El at BB Kings and everywhere if anybody can get to where ever he is.

El Debarge was really great. i wish he played a little longer and I wish he played "whose holding Donna now'. I pray his past difficulties will always remain in the past and that his future will remain bright and that he will tour again the NY area, soon

This was my first time at the Saban. I think it was the perfect venue for this show; not too big, not too small. I liked that the parking was right next door in a covered lot. It was easy to get in and out of. El, as usual, gave a great performance! Chico was there for almost the entire set and provided a good balance on stage. I had a great time. I do wish the event/venue security had done a better job of keeping people in their areas rather than flooding the front row. I think that if you pay for a specific seat, you should be able to enjoy it without having people from a different section crowd you or impede your vision. Security and the ushers were not on top of that.

El was great, quick moving the hits and a few classics. My only problem was the set was too short. He hit the stage at 8:15 and did 5 min encore at 930.

Seeing El performance live was awesome! I am a long time fan and was happy to see him live at BB King's. Next time I am going to invest in VIP seating so I can really enjoy seeing the show better! El, when are you coming back?

Incredible talent, smooth voice, very rare to have a artist to be able to play their own music live, no backup singers needed. El is able to carry his own show

El DeBarge was awesome!! I was a little worried after hearing how sometimes he didn't show up to the concert or didn't perform well but all of those worries vanished. El brought out his little brother Chico and they were great!! Did old DeBarge and even Switch songs which took me way back. I was so in love with El since high school and I was really taken back to that time! I can't wait until he comes back. I'll be there for sure!!

El was incredible and when he brought out Chico it went to an even higher level. It took El a minute to pull it together but the fans love will patiently cover the artist when we see you on stage. Unlike those other artists who take 2 hrs to pull it together behind close doors while we sit and wait. El/ Chico put on top rated show and Jon B. Opening for them sealed the deal. Switch, Debarges all wrapped in one. A treasure to behold for we don't know how long our treasures will be with us!

El provided his fans and me with a popup show at Bethesda Supper Club and he was Amazing! He packed the house with very little advertisement of this show. His voice was on point as usual and he even gave a tribute to Chuck Brown (well he was in the DMV!) and Stevie Wonder. He gave a flawless performance of the Switch hit "They'll Never Be!". He even took us to church! He mixed jazz with a bit of hip hop on the DeBarge classic "Stay With Me"/One More Chance (Biggie).

Some people need extra stuff to make a good performance but El never does! HIs shows are always fun and he is a perfectionist when it comes to directing the band. I never am disappointed with his vocals. I only wish his tour schedule wasn't so hectic! Truly love this man and wish him all the best. Great Music never Disappoints!

El was amazing and so on point. His voice is from heaven. He needed no gimmicks and just gave us pure song. I love the way he expresses his emotions when he sings--so sexy and true. El is the real deal. My only complaint is that he did not perform long enough. His performance was just too short. It left me wanting so much more. He's a legend and deserves more time with his audience.

El Debarge was AWESOME. Wish he had more time to perform. My only complaint was Keith Washington. What the hell! He brought only to El's show and he looked a hot mess. El, you are loved, blessed and we will always support your shows.

He didn t truly sing as much as he entertained the ladies. He would skip high notes and verses and let audience sing. Different from show last year.

Well, he stayed true to form and had another massive mishap requiring The Birchmere to offer refunds to patrons. We were told about 5pm (after I stood in about an hour of ice cold weather in line) that his flight was not landing until 8:05pm. At Dulles! Yes, Dulles. So they had no way of knowing how soon after show time he would actually hit the stage. Therefore, we opted for the refund. I hear he hit the stage eventually about 9:20, which was just unreasonably late for a 7:30pm show. I only came from DC, but I felt bad for the people I met in line who came from Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk and even flew in town for his show from Memphis. I cannot imagine how he is making money like this, even though his tickets were the most expensive tickets we even bought at the Birchmere, EVER. El, stop touring until you can get a handle on whatever issues you are having that are precluding you from 100% fulfilling your show date obligations. You are obliterating your legacy with your fans in this industry.

El still has it!!! Enjoyed the show. El was over an hour late and I'm not sure if that is why he didn't perform any of his songs from his solo career. I will definitely see him again.

What a professional! His airplane was late but when El arrived -- he went to work! This was my second time seeing him in concert and he has not disappointed either time. I plan to see him again whenever he is in the area.

Loved El's performance because his singing was true perfection. He has maintained his falsetto for decades. Wow. He made the songs from my childhood come alive and I thoroughly was entertained. I was even surprised that he sang a few verses from Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" and tried to even dance like him. I let that slide because I love El but next time stick to your own music. LOL.

El s plane caused him to start his set about two hours late, but his backup band and a fill-in singer did a fair job of keeping the crowd entertained until El arrived. El was fantastic as usual but Birchmere s menu needs an update.

A little late but, the concert was one of the best I have been to because of audience interaction.

El Debarge was late to the venue due to a delayed flight but he performed like a true legend. Sung all the hits and some other artist hits, amazing service, food was good except BBQ was nasty. But overall El Debarge was FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'll start with the bad - and the reasons why I couldn't rate this show 5 stars: 1. The show was set to start at 7:30, did not start until 9:30 (allegedly due to El's flight not landing in VA until 8:05 pm) 2. Due to the fact that he must have hit the stage straight from the airport, he was dressed pretty casually in jeans and a t-shirt. 3. He didn't sing Stay With Me and that is my all-time favorite song (personal issue) The Good: 1. He still is fine as ever 2. His voice is flawless 3. Lots of crowd participation - he was having a good time on stage 4. Interacted with the crowd and took plenty of pictures I would definitely go and see him again, especially in an intimate setting. He connects well with the crowd. I loved him like it was still 1985 last night. :)

El Debarge was good. Still has his voice. BUT BUT THE SOUND CHECK WAS BADDD.

El was fantastic but started the concert late & ended his performance too soon..wish he would've performed another 2-3 songs to go out with a bang!

I love El DeBarge! My only complaint is that he didn't sing songs from his solo albums. He's such a great artist that he should focus more on his own songs from solo albums and not other artists.

I traveled to New York to see El Debarge and he did not disappoint! His voice was beautiful and his showmanship was lively. I was glad to see him looking healthy. The venue was BB Kings Blues Club and Grill, which was very nice. Excellent food. DJ was excellent - had the crowd partying until El appeared on stage.

I did not like the fact that you have to buy an entire table of 10 seats in order to get VIP seating (unlike most concert venues). I'm a superfan of El DeBarge and would have paid to sit front row but that was not possible at BB King's. El DeBarge sounds better than ever. He was humble, personable, and interacted with the crowd. The sound engineer was terrible and the band played way too loud and often drowned out his vocals. BB King's needs to do much better in this aspect because it greatly took away from the experience. The concert could have been off the charts if El's sound was handled by the engineer and band in a much better way. They were not at all in tune with realizing the audience could not hear El and poor El had to keep giving them hand signals and actually getting up and physically going to the engineer to speak to him, all while still trying to keep the audience engaged. El is a true professional. BB King's should also make sure the audience in the VIP section does not stand up for most of the performance and block the view of others. It was very frustrating and the crowd had to keep yelling at some to sit down (again, distracting from the concert experience).

El DeBarge was his usual...his voice was sharp, his piano playing beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed his presence and engagement with his audience. We can't say enough about enjoying his good looks...more handsome and a real man! Our only criticism was that his performance was too short and we would have loved to hear him sing more tunes from his Second Chance body of songs.

As usual, Eldra DeBarge's voice was great but the show started late and ended early. There were pauses so almost all songs were not sung end-to-end. The lights were killing him and the background sound/music was so high/loud at times that I believe he would have had to strain his vocal cords to sing above it.

El Debarge was absolutely Amazing . Ive seen him a few times before but at this concert he looked and sounded healthy and Amazing . He sang all his old hits from the past . His range and his voice was Vintage . It was a great show and I was sitting right in the front so I could take in all emotions and his love for entertaining . His brother Chico joined him for most of the show and it seemed to have a very calming effect on El and they were great together .

Fans were anxiously waiting for El's performance and he did not disappoint!!! I could see there were problems with the sound initially. But El would not work under those conditions, He left the stage for a moment and stage hands appeared. Once the sound was right, El returned and was absolutely amazing! He sang all of our favorites.The audience couldn't resist singing with him and loving him! Suddenly, his brother Chico came onto the stage sending the audience into a further frenzy! It was fabulous. These brothers have crystal clear voices that range from their bottoms to beautiful falsetto. They looked great! I tell you these guys are in their 50's and still look 30. El played the piano, sang to us and loved us back with his beautiful voice. No fillers, just one song after the next. What a great show!! Thanks El for a memorable night!!! I was very disappointed in the El Debarge concert on Saturday. The opening act, Jon B, started 1/2 hour late, then played for an hour, which was a long time for an opening act. Jon B was amazing, but I was there to see El. When he took the stage around 10:30, there was a technical problem with the 1st song, "Stay with Me." He stopped the song, and it took about 5-10 minutes to correct the problem. Then he took the stage and sang about 7 more songs, ending exactly at 11:30 p.m. Everyone in the audience was shocked the show was only about 45 minutes. Some people said it was because a noise ordinance requires the Saban to stop performances at 11:30 p.m. So we were short-changed. If Jon B only played 20-30 minutes like most other opening acts, then El would have had more time. I believe this may have been intentional, so that El wouldn't have to perform as long. But nonetheless, the songs El did sing were amazing. He still has a beautiful voice, and could hit all the high notes that he's know for with ease. We just wanted a "normal length" concert.

HE SOUNDS AMAZING STILL. HE JUST WAS VERY LATE AND DIDNT PERFORM LONG AT ALL. DIDNT PLAY A LOT OF HIS BIG SONGS

Last time I was supposed to see El, he was in concert with Brian McKnight and Johnny Gill in Los Angeles several years ago. He never showed. "Stuck in traffic". Fortunately this gave more time to Johnny and Brian who were both fantastic.

All I can say is, "El can still bring it!" My dad would take me to see DeBarge when I was a young girl. I was just as excited watching him perform as an adult as I was when I was a teenager. So grateful to God for letting him keep his gift of music and for giving him another chance.

Great show. I would have loved if he would have done some songs from his last album. He sounds great and so does the band.

Got to give it up for old school!! He sang, we sang. He grooved and we grooved right along with him.

Awesome Show all the way around. He sang all his hits plus a couple from Switch, Earth Wind and Fire and even played some go-go. He definitely sounds the same hitting all the notes and had great energy throughout the show. A great show for a decent price!

EL DEBARGE 's show was fantastic. He sang so many hits. He was engaging and the guys loved singing along as much as the ladies. Great show, great energy and he's still got it.

The man still has it! What an incredible show! I took my fiancee out as an early Valentine's gift and we had a blast! The food at the venue was really good and the intimate setup was "just what the doctor ordered"!

El fulfilled my every expectation! I've loved him since I was a young girl in the 80's!

The show was awesome! Some of my girlfriends didn't go because they said they wouldn't know his music but they missed out. El Debarge brought it and took me back. I thought it was very classy of him to give a tribute to the Father of GoGo, Chuck Brown. Can't wait to see him again! Come back to the DMV El!!!!!

the El Debarge show was 1 of the best shows I have ever been too.

El Debarge still has it! It was a wonderful performance. We enjoyed every moment. He sang his top classics so everyone was engaged and having a great time! El still sounds and looks great! This was a good show! So worth it!

El Debarge's 10 Feb concert at The Birchmere was unbelievable! I didn't know what to expect, but he had a claer voice, lots of energy and he was totally sexy.

El DeBarge puts on an excellent show. I seen in live at Bethesda Blues & Jazz. He had 2 sold out shows. He performed all his hits and even brought Jeff Bradshaw on stage. That was a treat. The next night Maysa joined him on stage. It was epic. I see he's coming back to the DC area in Feb and I have my tickets and can't wait.

El was simple Amazing!!! I have waited many, many years for him to visit Virginia. He was here November 11, 2015 It was a Great show!!! Well worth the wait.
