The Cure

THE CURE IN CONCERT: New wave mainstays The Cure have always candy-coated their twisted tales of love and woe with danceable beats and catchy choruses, voicing the emotions of millions of listeners in the process. Throughout their four decades together the band hasn’t lost any of the stylish edge that made their goth-tinged music so popular, and their concerts are still must-see events for alternative fans. Iconic frontman Robert Smith holds audiences in the palm of his hand as he vacillates between sighed verses and belted choruses on classic hits like “Boys Don’t Cry”, “Just Like Heaven”, and “Lovesong”. The rhythm section gets everyone swaying on the dancefloor with steady drumming and driving basslines while lush synthesizers blast out memorable riffs that ticket buyers will be humming all the way home.

thrilled when i heard about the tour. i did not get an opportunity to attend a performance during the 1990's, so for myself, a fun show of yesteryear today. lots of encores. incredible light display. 'the twilight sad' were also very enjoyable.

This was the second time I have seen The Cure and who knew they could be better then the first. It was a once in a life time chance to see them play "Three Imaginary Boys", "Seventeen Seconds", and "Faith" in entirety but they went above and beyond from there and did 3 sets on top of that. So good to see bands that really deliver live. Thanks Robert Smith and The Cure!

Excellent concert at a classic venue. The Cure was spot on with their music spinning the clock back 30 yrs. Roberts vocals were amazing and bringing life to his lyrics. It was nice to see Roger ODonnell again in the line up along with Lol....bringing the Cure back from over the years.

We were so excited to see The Cure tickets go on sale. The music was great but I wasn't impressed with the format. RS played 44 songs straight with little enthusiasm. No one even stood up to dance for most of the concert. It seemed like a chore for him and it was a chore for me to be there.

OMG The concert was amazing!! Robert Smith's voice sounded better than ever and his clever switching it up of guitars was genious! 3 hours of music and fantastic stage lighting, with only short breaks between, the show was electric! The Instrumental "A Reflection" and "The Funeral Party" were both haunting and hypnotic. "The Weedy Burton" had me shaking my whole body in a groovy trance and "Descent" followed by "Splintered in Her Head" took me even further down the rabbit hole.

Up until now I have only listened to the popular songs by the Cure ("their hits). I was a little worried going to their show at the Pantages theatre knowing they were intending on playing their first 3 albums in their entirety which I hadn't ever listened to and probably only recognized a couple of songs. I came out of the show a huge Cure fan. From the first song to the last for each of these albums I couldn't believe how great these songs were........what made it even 10x better was the awesome/psychedelic/mind numbing light show that accompanied the entire performance. The Pantages Theatre was awesome. Fantastic acoustics. Fantastic architecture. Every seat in the house is a winner.

I have seen them live 5 times and their sound is always impressive, no matter the location or size and accoustics of the venue. Robert writes very well for his range, and they always played full out in their shows for a minimum of 2 hours with very popular encores ad infinitum. They make me giddy, after all these years. Must be all that black dye I put in my hair?lol Why no! It is their muscian-ship. So looking forward to the Beacon show. Making a special trip to share my thanks this Thanksgiving.

The hardest working band on tour this summer made the cavernous and hallowed ground of The Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu feel like an intimate setting. Robert Smith and the band grinded out a pop laced set while connecting the dots of deep cuts and b-sides. A definite must see for the music, Smith's swooping voice, and watching Simon prowl the stage like a ferrel cat with his Bass guitar.

I been a Cure fan since over 28 years and I can tell you all that the band sounds better than ever!! Robert Smith voice sounds great, the whole band is on point! There is not many bands in the world that can change setlist and play over 3 hours at least! The Cure doesn't need a new album to do a sold out tour as this one! The show was excellent. The band was tight and played all the songs perfectly. Robert Smith's voice is intact, he sounds as if it was 1989, hit all high notes and didn't miss a beat. The set list was extensive as can be and covered from the most popular to some of the most obscure songs from their repertoire, pleasing old and not-so-old fans alike. They change the set list a little for every show, it seems, and I was disappointed to know that many songs that I absolutely love were played on the previous night's show, but not on the show I attended. But I'm sure many others were happy to hear the replacement songs, instead, so it's all good. Overall, an excellent show!

The Cure is always incredible . . . one of my favorite bands ever. The playlist was amazing - I knew and loved every song. The queue was very long to go through security though event staff was as efficient and polite as possible - it was the crowd delaying things, not staff. We missed the first couple of songs and once inside it seemed 75% of the attendees weren't listening to the music, they were busy walking back and forth and standing around chatting. We were so far back and everyone was walking around or standing so we couldn't see anything, not even the monitors, but the sound was awesome. Next time I'll buy a reserved seat to avoid the people only there to socialize and block everyone's view.

Okay, I wasn't there at the beginning--my first show was on the Disintegration tour--but The Cure's last night at MSG was as strong as that show and any I've seen since. A three hour marathon with heavy emphasis on four of the band'so best records. Smith's voice is still a wonder and his guitar playing was brilliant without showing off. Run to see this legendary band.

I've been watching their set list on this tour and The Cure give their fans 31-33 songs and you never know what you will get from night to night. Unlike other large scale concerts which are heavily choreographed and the set list may only change by just a couple of songs a night, The Cure's set list could be totally different between nights which is what makes this group amazing. For the long time fans, Robert Smith gives you the songs you want to hear as well as songs you didn't know what you wanted to hear. For me, this was the 4th time seeing The Cure and the first time in 20 years. I only wish I could have seen them more on this tour.

This was the fourth time I have seen Robert Smith and the Cure and the second time at MSG.Two of the shows I brought my son and one show my daughter and the other one I went with my best friend. This man and band NEVER FAILS TO THRILL, PLEASE, EXCITE, AND GIVE ALL to their devoted fans, old and new. If you are a fan you know what I am talking about. We can hear all the great songs Smith has penned over and over because of the sincerity and creativity of the most underrated song writer of rock. I dont see the Cure as a dark goth depressive band as many tag them with. I see Smith as a creative musical genius who goes to the deepest parts of his soul and tries to express his feelings in his most honest and poetic way. And the band itself is nothing short of precise and creative and an amazing group of accomplished musicians. LONG LIVE RS AND THE CURE!!!

I'm tired of bands I love short changing the audience with a few long drawn out, re-tempo'ed songs and then skipping some of our favorites. The Cure proved worthy of their name, THE CURE! Great performance. They played numerous songs with fire and passion. Absolutely beyond a doubt if you're a Cure fan you will not leave disappointed! UIC is a fabulous venue. I bought cheap obstructed view seats. Ha! I loved them, great view of the band, completely unobstructed. They need to work on the both selling good though. I think there was only one! I assume there might have been another, but I didn't see it. The line to buy my shirt was three times longer than the women's john during a Enrique Iglesias concert! An amazing show, phenomenal performance by every member of the band not the least of which Robert Smith gave over 3 hours of 34 superb vocal tracks including hits and more obscure and newer songs, loved every minute! The only constructive criticism of the venue or set up might be that the jumbotron screens seemed rather small and the cameras never moved to feature close ups of the band.... The Cure gave us an unforgettable three hours. I prefer open air concerts vs. indoor stadiums. The sound is so much better, having a chance to dissipate into the atmosphere instead of echoing off the rafters. Would like to go the other concerts at Shoreline, but the rest of the line up is weak. Stood on the lawn the entire performance. Wish it was easier to see the stage. From our sight line standing up dead center halfway up the lawn, we could only see the railing between the lawn and the seats.

Not a band to miss if you like their music....they were 100% ON and played for 3 hours!!!!!! Hollywood Bowl is a great venue and I'd say it's worth the extra $ to get as close as you can. I got Terrace seats which were good but I would not want to be further back for a band I love. Wishing I was in the very front, however, the sound is fabulous and there are large screens you can watch. I was impressed they sold vegan burgers. Staff was friendly. Bathroom lines long. Wine is pretty good for $9 a glass. TIPS: *Buy pre-sale tickets (shows in LA sell out instantly) *Arrive early *Uber or shuttle in (parking is a nightmare) *Wear more eyeliner if you want to be noticed in this crowd! *Don't bother with band photos or videos- they won't turn out (unless your'e a pro). *Enjoy the moment instead of having your face in your phone

Great show! Robert Smith sounds as good as he always did. I've been to a few concerts where there are older 80's bands playing. They are good but have definitely aged. Not Robert Smith! His voice sounds as good as it did 30 years ago. The Cure put on a great show to a sold out crowd for 3 nights at the Hollywood Bowl. This is a big venue and it didn't disappoint. Even though there were some songs I didn't know, their visuals and sounds still kept my interest. many were saying that this would probably be their last tour but from what I heard, they still have some good years in them so I hope they keep touring and I get another chance to see them.

This was a fantastic show!! The Cure played for almost three hours! Not a lot of banter but I prefer that when you get a setlist that we got with so many songs played in those three hours! I loved that Robert didn't play their major hits until the last 20 minutes to weed out all the fair weather fans. You had to stay and enjoy the whole experience to be rewarded with "Just Like Heaven and Friday I'm in Love". Also, the visuals were stunning and really added to the show. I highly recommend seeing them on this tour! The Twilight Sad were also very good and a nice opener to get everyone ready for The Cure.

Am done with Sleep Train as its a fitting title sponsor as you'll need a mattress while you are stuck in gridlock getting in/out if this nightmare. Cure sounded great and played some classic older tracks but left out some standards

It had been a couple of years since The Cure came to San Diego but when they do come they never disappoint. They played most of my favorite songs and then some. I just wish they don't take so long to come back again.

The entire band is in incredible form. Robert Smith is at the top of his game. As a performer who's usually known to be somber without too much banter between songs, besides the occasional "thank you" after songs, he was a whole different guy this time. Robert smiled, danced around, joked around with us and told small anecdotes. He was absolutely engaging and kept all of the sold out crowd hanging on every moment. The entire band seemed to be happily surprising one another. The look on their faces as they smiled and encouraged each other was priceless. They played an unbelievable 32 song set that included 3 encores and covered nearly every album. For me, the exclusion of the 'Pornography' album was a small bummer, but it was easily overcome by the sheer magnificence of the whole show. Having been to hundreds of concerts this was easily in my top 5, and trust me I've been to some incredible shows. I can't stress enough how important it is for you to go to this tour. You might have to drive a few hours, but I promise you it's worth it. Even if you have to buy tickets on the resale market, DO IT!!!! This show will leave you smiling for weeks after the show and driving your friends crazy with tales of how incredibly awesome it was. I'm not one to write these reviews usually, but in this case I was compelled to because I felt as if I didn't I would be doing a disservice to those who might be on the fence. This is a band on top of their game performing for the pleasure of it and it shows. Thank you so much to the entire band for making my year!

Robert Smith still got it. Still sound the same just like the many Cure concerts I've seen in the 80's if not better.

The Cure played an amazing set chalked full of their usual hits, but more importantly their not so often played gems that fans of the band crave. I was so excited to hear "Burn" from the Crow soundtrack, in addition to "Fascination Street." The band played for roughly 3 hours, keeping fans happy all night and giving them more than their money's worth. It was a little confusing to see them walk off stage about five different times. It was hard to tell what the true final encore was. Beyond that, this is a band you need to catch while there's still a chance.

The concert was AWESOME! If there was one thing that, could use improvement it would be the audio when the Musicians were speaking. It was difficult to understand what was being said.

The concert was fantastic and well worth the cost... Robert Smith is still Robert Smith and perfection and concentration are his standards... The performance was amazing as ever... No much more to say... NO disappointments.... On the other hand, the Arena NEEDS to clearly mark the sections and rows... Confusion reins supreme with people trying to figure out where their seats are... 10 bucks for parking should help cover the cost of section ushers to help people near their seating...

It had been over 10 years since seeing them live, & honestly I was a bit worried for Robert. But immediately my concerns that possibly he wouldn t be up to par was tossed alongside. Not only were his vocals amazing, but he sounded BETTER than he did 10 years ago! The entire band was awe inspiring, & I was absolutely thrilled to have finally gotten to see my all time favorite band once again. How on earth Robert performs, & I m not talking about just standing on the stage, guitar in hand & singing into a microphone. He was all over the stage, jamming with the band like an artist in his 20 s, not one who s 57! I couldn t believe the bands stamina, & you couldn t miss Robert s overwhelming desire to give his fans what they truly desired. For instance not the usual 2 encores, try 3, each adding at minimum one additional song starting with 3 for the first encore, & ending with a staggering 6. I counted a total of 31 songs. I was exhausted just watching him! Driving over 500mi, through 3 states, the costs for the tickets & hotels, (don t forget the 3 t-shirts, tote bags, pins & keychain), I would gladly pay again to see a show like that. They did not disappoint, & I m hoping they decide to get back on the road...after a very well deserved period of rest & relaxation!

Awesome show. Got early lawn seats and my kids joined later. Never saw them in the 70's or 80's when they were hot. They were hot in 2016. Cant wait to see them again..

What a waste. We left early. Just put a picture of them on your wall and play their music. THAT will be more entertaining... and you will see more.

I went both nights. He did almost three hours on both of the nights. Such a great musician, such a great band, such a great time! My 3rd and 4th time seeing them and I would have been happy to go for a third night!

I actually attended both nights in Honolulu, 07/16/2016 and 07/17/2016. Both nights were absolutely fantastic. The songs were delivered in a very personal, real way, and Robert Smith exudes an awkward genuineness that is completely endearing. Simon Gallup is a bass demon. He is always frenetically expert and awesome. Reeves Gabrels is a perfect fit with the band. Jason Cooper is a great drummer, and Roger O'Donnell looks completely serious at all times, but plays wonderfully and adds some of the ethereal beauty of the Cure's music. I love the feeling of genuine, real emotional exchange between the band and the audience during the show. Robert Smith is an ongoing comfort and inspiration to many of us who count ourselves Cure fans.

Been a fan of The Cure for years and convinced my roommate (who is not a fan or familiar with their music) to come to the show with me. It was one of the best live performances that I've seen in years. They played a good mix of music, with many of their classic and most beloved songs being played. It was a lively event and they even ended up performing more than one encore. I know that The Cure are an older band, but they still put on a fantastic show with solid music and good stage design. My roommate who wasn't a fan, loved the concert and told me that she has to look more into their music. You definitely won't regret seeing them live, it's fun and a great show. My roommate and I were supposed it have seats on the upper level, but we got bumped to better seats on the floor for free because all of there were still some open seats and the band requested we fill in the floor. Our new seats had an amazing view of the stage and made the night even better.

The Cure were in top form and delivered a memorable night of hits and catalog favorites. They kept us all on our feet with the rock that only they can deliver. Robert Smith was in true form and did not disappoint! Long live The Cure!

It was Just Like Heaven! The Cure performed a lot of their songs throughout the decades. Also, each time they came out for an ENCORE (4) they sang at least three songs.

The Cure was absolutely amazing. I had forgotten how catchy a lot of The Cure's music was. The band sounded even better live than my music library on my phone. They came back out for 4 encores. The show was almost three hours long. Definitely worth the money. They played all their hits. It was just amazing as we all sang along with Robert. He's a really great guitarist. The Cure can rock when they want to.

Hands down one of the best concerts I've ever been to! The band upgraded the nose bleed seats to floor seats! It was insane! After the 4th (yes 4th!!!) encore, I needed to call it a night since it was on a Sunday. But they kept going!! It was magical!! Robert's voice was simply beautiful!! I was beyond impressed! Band mates were impeccable with talent. Simply brilliant all around!!
