Wonderful show! The only way it could ve been any better is if they had played a little longer. Sibling harmonies were spot on, song selection was great, band was superb. I hope for their success in the future. They are worth going to see!

Fabulous harmonies, tight band, awesome lead guitar and a near-perfect venue lead to an amazing evening of music. I recommend seeing them live and grabbing a copy of the new album.

Personal, beautiful, stripped & perfect. Amazing show of acoustic story-telling. There wasn't a song performed that wasn't heart-felt and beautiful but my favorite was probably acoustic Jesus On A Greyhound. It was also nice to have her start the show by performing her newest album, Revelation Road, in its entirety prior to bringing out some old favorites. The highlight for me was when Shelby handed me her guitar pic at the end of the show. ...Oh, and getting to meet her for a few seconds when she came out for a meet-and-greet. A night I'll never forget.

The band was anything but tight. The audience seemed to pick up on the mistakes on the second song. After that Shelby won her hometown's hearts despite occasional guitar riff mistakes from her lead guitarist. The show ended up being fantastic with great crowd enthusiasm.

No introduction, nobody else on the stage, no fancy lighting, she just walks out and starts signing in the most controlled voice I have ever heard. Each note, each lyric seems to have been worked on, massaged, crafted until it is perfect to her. The most precise guitar strumming, chords, and volume that fits perfectly to her voice and the lyrics. No "throw away" notes or lyrics here---everything she did was necessary. Lyric Theater sound was great as usual.

This was my third time seeing Shelby at the Birchmere. This time it was only Shelby and her guitar, and it was just as good as the previous two shows (with additional musicians). I think she's sounding better, her writing is just as good, and the way her voice can fill a room is amazing. She also did a meet-and-greet and it was an honor to finally meet her.

I've seen Shelby Lynne a number of times before, but always with a band -- amazing that at the Birchmere this time it was just Shelby, that incredible voice, accompanying herself on acoustic guitars... She totally nailed that show -- awesome display of both vocal and guitar skills, it was a gift to her fans...

We have attended many Shelby and Allison's solo concerts at the Birchmere but seeing them together was amazing. The concert felt like sitting in their living room listening to them share stories and songs with us. We can't wait for another joint concert! Our only regret is that we didn't come both nights.

We 250% enjoyed every minute of this fab show. The harmonies between the two was the best I've ever heard. Both had their own amazing sounds and styles. I was so impressed with the talent since only 2 guitars, one piano and harmonica was on the stage. The girls didn't even need instruments!!!!!!!!! PLEASE bring them back coz I'll be there again & again. I have told all I've seen since Sat. nite about their wonderful show. The love and comical stories of them as kids was just as entertaining as the music and we left feeling energized, happy, and bought every CD they had for sale that I do not already own. A memorable event for years to come, and I bought our tix the day they went on sale and NEVER THOUGHT 12/04 would ever arrive! SO Thanks sisters and thank God it was in the Saenger, the best and classiest place for such true talent. The heck with the CIvic Center, too big, too impersonal and the accoustics do not even compare. I LOVE SHELBY AND ALLISON! Always will, and even tho I'd never seen them together, would love to have them make more albums together. How blessed AL is to have such true talent. Finally a reason to be proud of being an AL. native, never much cared for it before but with these 2 greats I am now!

The combination of Shelby (Sissy) and Allison were the best harmonies I have heard in a very long time. The Christmas songs, especially the nog and the log, were a great surprise. I also enjoyed their encore harmonies. They are obviously great talents proven by their awards and records and this concert.

They are both amazing in their own right but put them together for such a sweet acoustic show- it was as much and more than I had hoped. They were both awesome. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. It was a wonderful show.

From the front row, which is a lot easier at the Birchmere than other venues, this was an amazing invitation to sit in on a intimate private session between two highly musically talented sisters giving you a honest, from the heart, glimpse into the deepest recesses of their lives past and present. All songs are amplified/acoustic guitar duos with one piano/vocal interlude, dominated by their naturally instictive powerful vocal harmonies. No other muscians were present or needed. Shelby is the edgier of the two songwriters, playing a wide mix of tunes from thoughout her illustrious career, spotlighting that easygoing southern jazzy-bluesy delta sound that has always defied pigeonholing into any genre. Allison's songs are mostly sweeter ballads, putting her emotions right out there for all to feel her empathetic tidal pull. The between song banter transported the audience to the sisters rural Alabama childhood as well as the many lost years struggling for acceptance in the overly formulaic Nashville music industry. Overall a powerful, honest and deeply revealing evening of music drenched in southern soul.

I adore both Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer as individual artists but had no idea they could work such magic together, on both a personal and artistic level. The bond between them was absolutely heart-warming. Top notch songs being sung by two of the best singers in their genre(s) was the icing on the cake!

Allison Moorer and Shelby Lynne gave a heart warming performance at the Birchmere. This is the first time I'm aware of that the two of them have toured together. Both women have amazing vocals and strong song writing ability. The show featured the two of them with just their guitars and an occasional turn on the piano. They proved less is more because it made the night more inimate and heart felt. They share an obvious love for each other which is expressed throughout the show starting with an acapella version of Side by Side to begin the evening. I recommend this show highly These are two Southern girls who deliver the goods. Well done ladies!

I'd seen Shelby many times in concert, but her sister, Allison, was a sublime addition. The two were both naturals on stage and their interaction was priceless. Both have amazing voices and a terrific catalog of songs from which to choose from. Rumor has it (from the sisters themselves) that they'll be dropping an album together next year, so I eagerly await their next set of shows.

We were thrilled to hear that SL/AM were coming to the Birchmere (2+ hours drive for us), so we got tickets and went to the show. It was Lou's first time at the Birchmere -- what a great place! Friendly staff, clean, easy to get in/out/park, an enjoyable concert experience overall. Unfortunately, the sound system setup was less than optimal -- seated at the back (ironically, next to the unattended sound booth), we strained to hear some of the lyrics/music (the two ladies played acoustic guitars except for one or two songs where AM played the piano), and much of the back-and-forth bantering between the sisters was indistinct (unless they spoke deliberately straight into the mike). Coupled with a barely 80-minute set, I must say that we were more disappointed than not by the listening experience (but not with AM/SL). Our server, Kim, couldn't have been more helpful, and the staff at the ticket booth, store and bar were great representatives of the enduring tradition that is the Birchmere.

What a beautiful night for Shelby and Allison. The Birchmere is just the cozy venue for such a personal and heartfelt show, and we in the audience were blessed with a magnificent display of song. They both were in great form that night and the"sissy" talk between them made us feel like we were in their living room. Choice of material was excellent, from a Buck Owens cover to their hits. They threw in a few Christmas surprises too, the best of which is they will be releasing a duet album next year and continue with more live dates for those who missed the very few performances of this opening act. Be sure to see them when they are in your neighborhood. The night closed with Allison and Shelby reaching out to share their hands with whoever was by the stage to congratulate them. Allison introduced her newborn John Henry to the audience as he smiled in approval. A wonderful night.

This was my second time seeing Shelby, and once again, she was amazing. It was just her and two other guitar players (one played the harmonica, too), and the music that came out of them was impressive. She sang most of the songs on her new record, plus some older ones, explaining the inspiration behind her works of art. There were a few moments when all one could hear was Shelby's voice...it pierced the heart and invoked emotions...she could have done that all night and we would have been happy.

I saw SL at the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. Both were firsts for me and neither disappointed. SL was relaxed and playful, even ornery at times. She treated her audience with courtesy and respect, and the Ark crowd, who'd seen her before, was friendly and appreciative. The set list was mostly the "Tears, Lies, and Alibis" material, which was fantastic, She spiced the set with some fan favorites as well. The entire show was just marvelous.

i haven't listened to her much since the days of the Rosie show, i miss the Rosie show- by far the best variety show of its time--best light-hearted fun time - 3-4 eastern standard time Greatest show since Mike Douglas and Merv Griffin I respect her true admiration for people in the limelight, and big movie stars - loves the Cruise guy !!! i know nothing about country music and dont like it yet anyone would enjoy this persons music- lot of styles all messed up into her own. Classic album the initial one! You have to admire someone whose gone thru a tumultuous life event and rose above it to become one of the best in her art.

I have a been a fan of Shelby Lynne ever since her breakout record, I Am Shelby Lynne. She has one of the most beautiful voices today, capable of going from a whisper to a loud, soaring upper register which is all performed effortlessly. Her band rocks and harmonizes wonderfully. I was very impressed by the musicianship. The set started with about 10 songs that were new. Once she started singing material I recognized, a strange thing occurred, she said the lights were going to be lowered so there could be an intermission and she literally stood onstage with her band in the dark. It was one of the strangest shows I've ever seen. I must also mention that I was a little concerned at her appearance, she's way to thin. Shelby, PLEASE EAT, make sure that you're getting nutrition and LOVE yourself.

For the first half of the show, she played her new album "I Can't Imagine" in order. During the first song or two, it did very little for me, however, it really picked up from there, with great Allmanesque guitar solos, rockers, ballads, whatever, and was actually more interesting to me than the second half. She is one of the few artists who can hold the crowd in her hand as she winds down a slower number to a whisper the way Van Morrison can, with her patented arms extending out in a Christ-like fashion. She ended the first half with a rousing version of "Your Lies" from the iconic album "I Am Shelby Lynne." For the second half, she played the balance of that album in order, with "Thought It Would Be Easier" among many highlights and she threw in some goodies at the end, where she received an extended, and well deserved, standing ovation.

The venue was great, as it was more intimate and felt more personal. The opening act was Grayson Capps, and he was hilarious and extremely talented! Shelby herself was as haunting as ever. General admission seating? No problem for a real fan! Not the first one through the door, but had first pick of the seating since I had purchased my ticket in advance !!! Planted myself front and center for an amazing evening! Singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, etc....Not too many performers with the array of talent Shelby continues to display after 20+ years on the scene. Still have my autographed picture from her Country debut in Oklahoma City in the late 80's. Oh, and it was all acoustic !!! YUM !!! Glad I finally found a venue to catch back up with her. This was the 10th time that I have seen Shelby Lynne, and it was the most reserved audience I have ever seen at her shows. Granted, the show was put on by NPR, and the audience reflected that. The Foley Theater was architectually an amazing venue. The acoustical qualities of the theater carried her voice very well, although the guitar amps did seem a bit low. Shelby pulled off a great show none-the-less. It goes to show the talent that comes from years of hard work. How such a powerful voice can come from from someone so little astonishes me every time. All said, it was a great show, though very reserved. If you get a chance to see her in a music bar, especially down south, i.e. Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, go to the show. You will not be disappointed. The southern venues attract some very active audiences that Shelby plays off of very well.
