I waited more than 40 years to see Milton in concert, so maybe my expectations were unrealistically high. On the plus side, he still has a voice of the gods. And his music is and will always be as good as structured popular jazz gets. The songs are timeless. But Milton is 72, and health concerns have surrounded him for some time now. He looked pale onstage, and clearly lacked energy. He even acknowledged not feeling well after experiencing winter cold during shows a few days prior in New York and Boston. He didn't smile. He didn't really connect with the audience as I'd expect a seasoned performer of his caliber to do. So yes, I was somewhat disappointed, but really more concerned for his health and well-being than anything else. His band -- particularly guitarist Wilson Lopes -- was fabulous. The hallmark voice was clear, sonorous and beautiful. The selection of songs was good, though many icons were missing. So I expected a 10, got a 7, and am still happy I went. Next time, sure hope he's feeling better! Milton strained to speak a little English. He didn't need to. I think most in the audience -- including myself -- are Brazilian and speak Portuguese daily.

Still can't get over it, very fortunate for the wife and I to see him perform live. I've been listening to his music since the early eighties and has always been impressed with his musical style. Milton is truly a musicall icon. His guitar playing is so effortless but effective and his voice will tickle your emotion, dominating vocals yet comes out fragile and vulnerable. Even without understanding the words to most of his songs, you know he's singing and playing from the heart. This was easily one of the best concerts I've ever seen. Hats off to Mr. Nascimento and his great band on their stellar performance! Highly highly recommended. If you get the chance, watch him live as time seems to be ticking faster on him although still in top form. He makes a six-piece brazilian band produce some music that is out of this world. Very rich sounding, velvety smooth, and the melody and mood he brings is beyond compare. I still get goose bumps remembering the band's performance this past saturday, 28th November 2014. Need I say more? Just go and watch this band perform in front of you.

Milton Nascimento's talent and haunting tone were awesome. Instrumentalists accompanying him were excellent. Good balcony seats. Too bad the sound system featured static during the beginning of the show and distorted the sound somewhat throughout. And couldn't the ushers ask the persistent woman heckler to be quiet or leave?

Milton is not who he used to be. He was not in tune during some songs The sound system was embarrassing as well as his performance. And to top it off he started speaking to the audience in English but after a few minutes later he addressed everybody in Portuguese. Needless to say that half the audience didn't understand. No wish I could get my money back

I've been a fan of Milton Nascimento for decades now and looked forward to the concert- I hoped it meant his health concerns were behind him. He's very frail but that voice is still remarkable. When we could hear him. The sound was horrible. I think it set a new low for really lousy sound. New York's Town Hall is a good venue. And I think the band was quite good. But that was more from visual hints than anything we heard. Bass roar with NO DISTINGUISHABLE PITCHES! And the bass drum. That was it. And the poor winds player. He was working his tail off to no avail. I did notice the band was almost all wearing headphones so they probably had good sound. Whoever was running the sound needs to take of the headphones and get into the hall. The Blue Note should be ashamed for bringing in a major international star to NYC and putting on such a crappy show. Yep, they sold the tickets to us, but we left after less than an hour. The best part of the evening was catching an earlier train home.

Sound engineer was terrible...couldn't hear Milton, went in and out volume wise the whole concert and then the speakers started crackling...terribly unpleasant. Mr. N was bearly able to walk let alone play and sing. His guitar twanged and he was off key, the band had to hold back for him. Sad to see such a great artist in decline.

I can't believe that in the heart of manhattan, in an iconic place, the sound system, equalization, etc. were so poor. Moreover, they should forbid the use of mobile phones during the concert. People instead of enjoy the show and take a couple of pictures... now they use gigantic tablets to make videos.!!! pathetic. In this review, at the bottom says "Upload video with your review", lol

I had been in many concerts which amazed me, but this one is more than just to be amazed, it was a junction of music, lyrics, proximity with all that was happening on the stage. Milton Nascimento in this concert Travessia brought me out of Town Hall facing the life with all it has to take off and offer to us. Emotions from listen his cristaline voice and, not just listen, but feel all that he has to tell. Perfect moment.

The sound was really bad, especially in the beginning, we sat in the balcony and could harldy hear Milton's voice. People complained loudly about this. The drums and bass were far too loud, even when we could hear Milton.

Although I'm a long-term fan, I'm sorry to say that this was not a good concert. The drums and bass drowned out Milton's voice and Milton's health seemed to impair his performance (obviously that part is not his fault and the audience seemed sympathetic).

His concert was amazing. Two hours of pure bliss. He sang all the songs that I expected. His voice was soothing. He teven tried to please the American crowd, telling stories with his broken English. Sooo cute! Loved!!!

Milton's music has been forging the connection between my body and soul since I was 17 years old and first went to Brazil. He holds me to earth and at the same time gives me a taste of the divine. Milton: Take better care of your body! We want to hear you for a lot longer. You looked stiff and beer bellied last night. We want you to be handsome, too! Black is beautiful.........

I saw Milton Nascimento last night at Berklee Performance Center in boston. I have to say in all honesty that this concert was by far the best concert I have attended all year. And I have been to probably 25 performances, many Brazilian artists in this group. Milton's voice was in perfect form, his stage presence was playful and his back up band, especially that piano player, was incredible. Very tight group, all virtuosos in their own right and clearly loved playing with the master, Milton. Milton's songs ranged from his very early works to what I considered the gem of the evening, Vera Cruz, with a gorgeous introduction by the piano player (he acknowledged the band but never introduced them to the audience) who gave a tremendous jazzy prelude to this iconic song. This version was reminiscent to herbie hancock's rendition. If you are in or near NYC on Wednesday night 11/18, run to Carnegie Hall to catch Milton and this band in concert. You will be transported by the exquisite musicality of this amazingly talented singer/writer and his fantastic band.

I have listen to Milton Nascimento for many years, and I own many of his cd's. This was the first time I had seen Nascimento in concert. Milton sounded fresh and energetic. The band was tight and engaging. What amazed me most, is Milton Nascimento in concert, sounded excactly like his cd's. I would recommend his concerts and I would attend again and again.

I remember MiltonNascimento from 25 years ago in Brazil, when he would dance all over the stage. He can't do that anymore, but he's still a great singer/composer. And the band was GREAT. Good show.

My friend and I had a Great Time! We got there at 4:30 pm to get a good number for a good seatting, and we did. We sat face to face with Milton Nascimento....The sound, the Music where FANTASTIC. Milton does not need a band, his voice is so amazing and has a power like no other, and he sings with his sould. The only thing, I wish that he had stayed longer singing, can not get enought of his Voice. Went backstage, met him and his group, very sweet person and very welcoming. It was a Brilliant Nite, what a Soul and the Voice! Loved! Loved !Loved!

The full-house that came out on a cold-dark rainy evening to see Brazilian muscial legend Milton Nascimento and his deeply talented band perform was richly rewarded with a spectacular performance. Milton serenaded us with a diverse range of songs from his long repertoire, hitting every note with his uniquely and sometimes haunting "Milton voice". The musicians: piano, drum, electric bass guitar and electric guitar rhythmically blended to bring incredible modern sounds, dissonance and melodic, with very traditional afro-Brazilian beats. Every member of the audience was compelled to bob along with the music that was coming from the cool, spiritual and witty Milton. The band was in the groove and so were we. We were witnessing musical history, since the likes of Milton Nascimento does not come into this world very often and maybe never again. Thank you Milton!

Milton's voice was perfect as usual, but his show was too short. And, he didn't play several of my favorites, Travessia, in particular. Not sure I would pay this much to see him again.

Milton was and is a legendary songwriter/performer and continues to amaze despite his longevity. The shows producers are pathetic. The tickets showed an 8 pm start. At 9 pm they were still not letting people into the theater. The show began at 11 pm - 3 hours late. The ushers were seating people in the wrong seats. While not forgivable, Milton's performance made it all worthwhile.
