Joan Jett

Ever since she took center stage in 1982 classic No. 1 “I Love Rock n’ Roll,” Joan Jett and her band scored hit after hit, ranging from the soft “Crimson and Clover” to the edgy “I Hate Myself for Loving You." After her much-publicized appearance in the 2013 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Jett reached out to a newer, younger generation of fans who totally rocked out to her high-energy vibe and powerhouse voice. The parade appearance topped off a banner year for Jett and her band, The Blackhearts, a year that included the release of “Unvarnished,” an album that spawned yet another Jett mega-hit, “Any Weather.

We drove from Kansas to visit my friend in Rapid City and see Joan Jett. The show was amazing. However, the people running the show (security) were rude and abrasive. When we went to ask directions to the bathroom, they confiscated my husband's camera - after we had gotten in and went to our seats. The place was swarmed with cameras just like his! When we went to retrieve it, someone had looked through all the pictures and changed the settings. NOT COOL! It put a bit of a damper on the evening but we didn't let it ruin our experience.

This was my second time seeing Joan Jett at the Del Mar Fair, and she was absolutely amazing. She gives it her all on stage and obviously loves performing for her fans. Age is no factor for this woman, she's going to be rocking out well into her 90's. If you haven't seen her yet, make sure to do so! It's a concert you'll never forget.

Though the show was not very long, Joan played a variety of her songs and sounds as good in concert as she does on her albums. Her music does not lose quality when she's live like some artists. She does a fun show and loves doing what she does.

Joan Jett was terrific! It was incredible to share and hear her music with my 23 year old daughter, who enjoyed it as much as I. What a cycle of life! She rocks harder than ever, and got the crowd going as she always has. Would love to see her again!

For a 50 yr old woman, she sure did not show her age. Music was loud and rockin' the house down, as a good rock conert should be. Joan presented a good collection of her hits, which was exactly why I go to a Joan Jett concert - to listen to the songs I know. Del Mar Fairgrounds is not the best of locations but for a rock concert, it sufficed since loud was the main ingredient. The ticketing experience was good. Collected my tix at the Will Call with no hassles, right next to the main entrance, so that was very convenient.

She can still ROCK the place!! We had a good time and enjoyed the show. She was very energenic and fun. The rest of the band was good and their sound system was great. There was too much time between the opening act and Joan Jett though. The crowd became restless. Finally someone started to play the song "Hey ho, let's GO!" by the Ramones over the loud speaker and finally Joan Jett and her band came out. We werent sure if the the fair put that song on or what? But it got them out on stage.

Ms Jett still brings the noise! Backed with an excellent, hard as nails band, she ripped through a seventy-five minute set of her greatest songs (Bad Reputation, I Love Rock and Roll, Light of Day, Naked) and again displayed her excellent taste in choosing cover material i.e., The Sweet's AC/DC,Sly and the Stones' Everyday People, Tommy James' Crimson and Clover. Still slim and sexy in her 40's, Ms Jett has never flaunted her sexuality, simply takes it for a given and rocks out as hard as any "of the boys" with her slashing rhythm guitar and rough but tender vocals. This proto-typical "riot girl" is a classic rocker in the best sense : she leaves it all on the stage, both satisfying an audience, and leaving them wanting more. An excellent show. Thanks, Joan.

The concert was outstanding. What a showman she is even at age 50 (doesn't look it) Played a nice mixture of old Runaways stuff and current tunes. The band is tight, her bonding with the audience was immediate and the place was packed with her fans. Cherie Currie was in the audience and Joan graciously acknowledged the lead singer of the Runaways.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are still rockin"!!! They played quite a few songs from her latest album and alot of the old favorites. She still has the energy of a teenager, jumping all over the stage. We had friends with us that weren't really sure if there knew her music, they were pleasently surprised when they knew half of the songs. She is definitely and underrated talent!!!

She was awesome. Hard to believe she has been rockin for 30+ years. Total high energy with new songs as well as old favorites such as I Love Rock & Roll and Cherry Bomb. The Blackhearts were her equal. I saw her at the beginning of her career when the Runaways playedUSC by the student union at lunch time!!! Gave a shout out to Cherrie Curry in the audience from the Runaways. I would DEFINITELY go to see her again. She puts on a great show.

I thought Joan and the BlackHearts did a good job. I liked the old songs, "I love Rock and Roll", "Crimson and Clover", "I hate myself for loving you", "Bad Reputation", etc. Joan is an orginal rocker, always edgy. I didn't care much for her new stuff, a little too punk rock for my taste. As far as concerts, it was fun, I'm glad I went. Not the best concert I've been to, but still fun.

First and foremost, Joan Jett was awesome. She rocked the house and loved every minute of it. The venue, however, sucked. The acoustics were horrible. I couldn't make out any of the vocals that Joan sang and I couldn't even hear the back-up singers. All I could hear was bass and drums echoing throughout the facility. Also, the tickets I had were for seats in a row that did not exist. As if that weren't enough, this was also the first concert I've ever been to that the security guards sat instead of standing and just allowed people to push their way to the front (all seats were assigned). I will not purchase tickets for another concert in this venue.

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played a lot of the favorite songs, but they played only 1.5 hours. The venue was not very good. No theatre seating (not installed yet) but folding chairs that were wired together. Seats were too close together and you couldn't get into the row to use them. I don't understand why the powers that be at Deadwood Mountain grand did not install a sloped floor so all the seats could be good seats. Instead all the seats except the first three rows were horrible. They spent $50 million and created a marginal-at-best concert location. Many of the concert staff were rude and took a lot of the fun out of it. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts played their hearts out, and the music side of the show was outstanding, just a short playlist. I would have given this event four (4) stars had they played just 1/2 hour longer, like most bands.

I'm not as crazy about the venue; the concert hall at Deadwood Mountain Grand isn't built for a good music sound, it's built to be a multi-purpose hall. They also put the chairs so close together you feel like you're packed into a cattle car; there's absolutely NO room to move. But Joan Jett was great! She can still rock with the best of them, because she is still the best! It was a great show, even if the venue is slightly lacking.

Seeing Joan Jett was THE best show I've seen since Zombie and Ozzy!!!! I took my teen daughter to see the movie "The Runaways" and she loved it! Joan REALLY had an effect on her. I didn't know what to expect, but I was blown away and my daughter has since proclaimed Joan her idol since she herself wants to have her own band one day playing bass. She was inspired to say the very least and I wouldn't have it any other way!! Joan has such an amazing stage presence and energy that is just remarkable. As soon as she hit the stage she had the audience on their feet for the entire show, including the encore. My 17 year old daughter and I yelled and sang almost every song, I did so much I lost my voice LOL. As for Joan s look, she may be getting older but she hasn't aged one damn bit! She s as much of a hottie as she ever was! Her voice was amazing and hasn't changed one bit either, all the highs, lows and screams...just amazing! We can't wait for future shows!!

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts were absolutley amazing!! Cherie Curie was fantastic! My comment lies with the Technical side of the concert. I was dissapointed that the sound for the Vocals were over shadowed by the percussion sound. I would also like to make a suggestion that whom ever your AV crew is or Technical director of the 'big screen' take a Class in 'how to put your subject in their best light'. It seemed cheesy at time with the 'fading in and out' aspects... Also the JJ & Blackhearts screen wasn't even rolled down completely-this theater is a full functioning theater with professional backstage crew, I've seen better technical stage crew in high school productions. Thank GOD that the Talent was outta this world, because it made me forget about the lack of 'caring' that was apparent from the stage crew... There was a point in the show where Joan tried to cross down Stage Right with her guitar and was unable to because the cord was taped down with only 7 or 8 feet worth of slack... Really? I'm by no means an expert but I've seen enough concerts and have been involved with enough theater and technical crews to know that the technical side of the show could have been better.

Cherie Currie opening for Joan Jett was, well darn right Historical. After not performing for 35 years it was like riding a bike. Joan was a good show but not a good live performance. Show sounded flat and not live. Sound board was real quiet.. It seemed like listening to a CD rather than a live show. Although her CD is Amazing and sound's well quite live and loud and raspy. Last night's performance was not. Even my 15 year old daughter thought the sound was low and off and Joan and her band did not give out that live energy and feed off the crowd like Cherie Currie did.... I Love Joan but I think she needs to fire the sound guys and go with a much larger Stage Set. I was disappointed to only see a few amps on stage. Drummer was mic'ed flat and did not have any punch.... Other than the sound and lack of stage prescience - Joan' Songs are Awesome... I think Joan should do a larger than life Runaway Reunion with all original members except for Sandy West R.I.P. - With the movie and the excitement for all the Runaways song they could conquer the World now - C'mon Lita come back with Joanie and Cherie for one Tour and Live Album.... and maybe a film - You girls changed the History of Rock n Roll for all of us but especially women. But you differences behind you and hit the Road again... Don't let contracts or $$$$$$ or Animosity get in the way from anyone - Jut do it - THE RUNAWAY's ROCK \\m/ \\m/ Chime in if you are for a Reunion!!!! In closing just a little disappointed Joan did not call Cherie out on stage and do one Runaway Duet together - like Dead End Justice - Everyone expected it... But it never happened??? Or have Kirsten Stewart and Dakota come out on stage and Jam with Cherie & Joan for the So-Cal show only - How cool would that have been!!!!! I hope Joanie and Cherie see this and get a Runaways Tour together but not without Lita Ford... Lita I know your pissed at Cherie - But do it for the Fans and Rock n Roll History....

The Blackhearts were amazing. What made them really good was that nobody in the band ever seemed to be front and center. Obviously Joan was somewhat more noticed because hey it's Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, but unlike other peformers she played with the band and wasn't just "I'm joan jett and these are the guys lucky enough to play with me." Nobody in the band was volleying for the spotlight and they seemed to be there to have a good time and connect with the fans. Would def. go to another show!

The show started on time, Joan played all the hits including several songs from The Runaways, the band was tight, and she played an hour and a half, my only problem was that she didnt do a meet and greet for the fans after the show, I had heard she didnt want to do the VIP greet and meet and didnt want to sign autographs, but for me being a fan since the beginning of The Runaways its was a great time, we came on a train from Minneapolis and stayed at the hotel so I was really hopin to meet Joan Jett, the last time I saw her was five years ago at First Avenue and she was just as good now if not better, just next time Joan meet your die hard fans!!

We drove 5.5 hours from Maryland to Nichols NY and saw Joan Jett at Tioga Downs. She was absolutely phenomenal. She looked great, sounded great, belted 'em out exactly like she sounds on her records, and I was belting 'em out with her. The crowd went mad. Cheering and dancing and singing. She was totally on and could NOT have been better. The was was a wide mix of everyone from 15 to 60, goths and hippies and yuppies and teens and couples and groups and you name it. We made friends with a couple from New Jersey, a boy with blue hair and glitter eye liner, and an older Jetthead from New York and his sister. It was a blast. The only thing I could have lived without was Fetish, which is the only song of hers that I absolutely hate. Dark, unappealing, and too weird coming out of even her mouth. Sorry. As for the venue, it was a small casino full of rednecks and fat old ladies like most rural casinos, and the food was terrible, the drinks were quite strong; but who cares about any of that. The concert was on the racetrack, and even from the stands you had a great view of the stage. We were in the third row, and moved up to some vacant seats in the first row - dead center. (Yes, VACANT seats in the 1st row if you can believe that.) I got tons of pics of her ... and LOST my PHONE. (Did I mention that the drinks were strong?) That was the bad part. But some people we met sent me images, so at least I got a few. Joan Jett is a fantastic performer - see her anywhere if you can. Totally worth it!

I've always thought Joan was cool. A real hard-core type. But I was disappointed that she chose this platform to promote her gay liberation views. She started out rockin' and held the crowd, young and old, in the palm of her hand, but when she played the obviously gay promos from her latest release, she lost all but the lesbian crowd that was there. I try to be open-minded and accepting, but I don't need an overrated, over-the-hill, 3 hit wonder trying to convince me. Or was she preaching to the choir? She could have milked the crowd with "I Love Rock N Roll" for a full 15 minutes! But , in spite of a brief sing-a-long, it was as shortlived as a radio cut. I had a good time watchin' her tear up the old stuff, that's why I went to see her, but I walked straight out of the grandstand wondering if a lifestyle qualifies you as a minority.

Fun night with good music and a feel good vibe. The kids who performed were awesome and the guest performers (Billie Joe Armstrong, Tommy James, Gary US Bonds, Jake Clemons, etc.) paying tribute to Joan Jett were pretty good too! Darlene Love stole the show with her amazing voice and infectious smile. Joan Jett still rocks! Happy to support Little Kids Rock and give kids a chance to express themselves and continue the rock and roll tradition.

Loved it. She's still rocking and sounded good. It was set-up in a conference room. Got a kick out of that, but it did not impact the quality of the show.

A huge fan for years. However, first time at a Joan Jett concert. This was a small venue. The concert took place in the grand ballroom of a Native American Casino. The stage was full of equipment that was precisely placed and it showed the stage crew knew their stuff. Joan and the BH's took the stage 15 minutes late. I had the feeling however it was not their fault. The show kicked off to a great start and with a fairly decent audio mix. I was sadly disappointed when the the volume level on the third song went into over modulation! Why anyone thinks that louder is better when the sound design of equipment limits are trashed still excapes me. I don't think the soundboard was Joan's crew. When she asked for more volume they turned up her mic instead of her monitor. This resulted in a feed back issue shortly after. She was later blinded by overhead light/s; when she repeatedly asked for it to be dimmed, she was ignored. But this rocker smiled and gave the crowd an awesome rocking show. A couple of really great new songs were played. The drummer was right on! Management of this group appears anemic from the website to the show its self to ; even the t-shirt stand. Total time on stage 1 hour 14 minutes including the encore. She was booked to play OK the following night. The fans went home happy but this group really needs top notch management & promotion to take it all home. Thank you for allowing my input. Joan, thanks for coming to Arizona, please come back real soon!

Joan was in good spirits and full of energy. It was a thrill to see her and sing along. I cannot though recommend the venue. The acoustics were terrible and the room was to small for her speaker system.

Sound was aweful but the drummer was as good as I have seen for awhile, while Joan lacked energy and only played for about 75 min. she did play everything I hoped she would play. For my $50 I got about $25 worth of fun. 2 Stars max

the ballroom it was held in was not the kind of place to hold a rock concert. carpet on the floor nice chairs are better suited to someone like diana krall. the concert said it was supposed to start at 7:30 pm. when it didn't start until 8:00p.m. and the whole show was only one hour long..joan has so many songs that she could easliy do two hrs. with a break in between. over all the concert was worth going to and i hope to see her here in arizona again soon. but at a better location.

My husband and I went with a friend to see Joan Jett at the OC Fair. They were okay. They played all of the stuff they played in the eighties and that was about it. The guys in the band seemed more into it than Joan herself. She seemed to be going through the motions but not really putting herself out there. Loved seeing Cherie Currie open for her. Still had a good night out with the boys, a few beers, and a little rock-n-roll.

this was the best concert i have ever been too. i seriously thought that it wwas truly amazingg. cherrie curries's opening was insane. and pretty much everyone was singing along to "cherry bomb." she looks quite young for almost 51 yrs. As, for joan jett and the black hearts, well they ROCKED! they ruled the pacific ampitheather. everyone was on thier feet chanting "i love rock n roll," "do you wanna touch me," and " i hate myself for loving you". dougie cn seriously play the guitar and as for joan, rocks as alwayz - y

What a Show. I brought My Two Daughters (who saw Joan Jett with me when they were teens) that now came with their Three Teen Girls. Three Generations.... We had a blast..... She and her band are the tightest. Wonderful musicians in every way...Tony is a right on Drummer. We never sat down. Thank you Joan for all the audience participation!!!! My voice was horse the next morning..(which means I had fun) Always have a great time at a Joan Jett & Blackhearts show. You Rock!!!! Thanks for touring.....at a great venue. See this Group Now!!!!!

In my 50 years of concerts this is the first one that myself and my 4 guests got up and left a concerts after the second song. The sound was so bad and Joans voice was flat. It was a real waste of money. We told the working event staff and all they said was ya it sounds really bad. Cherie Currie your band is great, you should give up singing move onto something else.

Cherrie Curry was the opening band and ahe was also she was the lead singer from the Runaways the group Joan Jett started in they wrote the song cheery bomb for her because she is a hot lady even at 51 she was 15 when she started in the business. She Of course she played Cherry bomb I love that song also you should watcth the movie the runaways there is a lot of crasy girl stuff in it! I am suprised all are ALL ALIVE! Then Joan Jett came out and she played about 6-7 songs I Loved and all the songs she played she rocked like the fab guitar rocker chick she is but she is not ready to be the lead singer and command the audience like Simon or Dave from their bands

The most people we have ever seen at the Pacific Amphitheater to watch one of our Rock and Roll icons, Joan Jett. The opening act was Cherie Currie of the original Runaways -- looking good for a 51 yo, but her voice has suffered a bit. We saw Joan Jett about a year ago at another venue, and we must say that this performance was only a shadow of that performance. We think Joanny may have been a little under the weather, and with the frequent sound problems, she was not quite up to speed. But she is hot! And the music is way cool. And the drummer was awesome. And the music classic. BUT she never did her classic "bend over". Damn. Older Guy complaint -- why do people have to stand through the whole performance? I can understand the "dancers", but to stand there with hands in pocket, nodding the head occassionally is extremely inconsiderate and annoying. Us "Older" people got to sit down!

One of the better shows at the Fairgrounds this year. Joan still kicks butt 35 years after her start in the Runaways. The selection of songs, some new, some old balanced a rather enjoyable night of music. Her raw energy stll gets the old ticker reving up. The only disappointment was the last song of the night. Could have listened for another hour!

I drove to Orange County from Las Vegas to see Joan Jett and I got a huge bonus...Cherie Currie! Cherie opened the night with high-energy rock and roll, love and heart-felt appreciation to be able to be on that stage Wednesday night. She thanked the crowd repeatedly...No, Thank you, Cherie. It goes both ways. This was the first time I had seen Joan Jett live. Why in the world did I wait so long? For years Joan has been the master of the power chord, catchy hook and lyrics that make a person say, "You know what?...You're right" At times during the night JJ embodied the spirit of Johnny Ramone - 100% bad-ass and no-nonsense. Whether doing her originals or the covers she makes her own, Joan Jett, in her words, "keep it simple and has fun with it." Buy the music. See the shows. Little Steven called her a "under-appreciated American treasure." Joan Jett rocked!
