Teena Marie

Heatwave took us back to the slow drag days. Lenny Williams can still do his thing. However, Teena Marie was OFF DA CHAIN. She is still as incredible as she was twenty years ago. Her pipes were amazing, the best time we had since we saw her at the House of Blues in Hollywood over ten years ago. For twenty five $$ a seat. it was the best deal in town. AMAZING.

The Concert was nice. Teena sounds like she did 20 years ago!

IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I TOOK MY MOTHER FOR MOTHERS DAY AND MY BIRTHDAY GIFT TO MYSELF. IF YOU CLOSED YOUR EYES YOU WOULD HAVE BELIEVED YOU WERE LISTENING THE ALBUMS LOL.

The venue was nicely redone. The acostics sounded great and the vendors were close. Lady Tee is just an amazing artist to see, I always go when she is close to home.

Awesome. Both put on amazing performances. Teena Marie still has it!!!! She is so soulful and just knows how to belt out a song. She sang many favorites and inspired the crowd to get up and move to the nth degree.

I had a blast last night..I will always remember Tenna Marie and her beautiful voice !! She can still get down!! if she ever comes back to San Jose I will definately be there.As for Keith Sweat he was good too...his music wasgood but his bass was too loud and you couldnt really understand what he was singing All though I did feel like he was singing to me.

All of the songs Teena Marie sang were all the songs I used to party to. It brought back a ot of good memories. And she is a great entertainer. She sang a tribute to Michael Jackson even wearing a Michael Jackson t-shirt. She is so cool! And her voice is outta this world. She is a gifted performer and I bet you she woud be fun to party with!

Great show. I really didn't know what to expect. I'd never seen either before. Grew up on both of their music, I was blown away. Very nice.

We enjoyed to concert a great deal. Teena Marie was off the hook, Keith Sweat was good but the sound system for some reason was not at peak, he it was hard to understand his words during varoius portions of his set. Civic Center ws clean and the crowd was never out of control seems everyone had a good time

I purchased my tickets to see Keith Sweat but he was nothing compared to Teena, this lady can put on a show. The venue was great also with the BIG screens so you could see no matter where you were seated. If you have the chance to see MS Tee I would highly recommend it. Thanks for the great show Teena and Ticketmasters.

Keith Sweat was the opening act and he delivered. He brought the house down in true Keith Sweat fashion. Then Teena Marie came and killed it I would highly recommend these artist. I was on my feet the entire time.

loved teena marie show the audience was very involved with every single song. Teena put everything she had into this show. I loved her in the 70's . I went with my 18 year old son and he loves her he was the one who wanted to go to the show. we had a great time even though the house wasn't full Teena didn;t let that throw her she is a true entertainer she had the choreographed moves plays congas and guitar and her voice is her true instrument even all these years later. great venue only complaint is the seating is too close to your neighbors.

Both Teena and Keith put on a great show! It was fantabulous and would definitely go see them again.

Great show! Keith and Teena did great sets and of new and old songs. The venue was just right and that other intengible, the audience, was superb!

The venue was half full. Obviously the promotion department dropped the ball big time. Teena's voice was on point, and she gave a good show but she continues to do the same old stuff over and over again. She's got 3 great CD's of more recent material and future classics, but she refuses to perform them. Not even her more recent hit singles we're performed like "I'm Still In Love" and "Ooo Wee". I've been a big fan and supporter of Teena Marie since the beginning. I am very dissappointed and don't know if I will see her again unless she changes her setlist.

Overall, it was a good show..I was suprised keith Swweat stillhad such a large and enthusiastic following. I would have liked Teena to have doen songs from her newer CD's, she did only one from Congo Square and one other..but she did an outstadning job on the fan favorites and the songs from back in the day!

I was very pleased with her performance & my favorite part is when she performed with her daughter. I thought that was cute.

I must say Ms Teena gave an awesome performance!!! She titled herself "Secretary of State" I title her Queen. I would love to see her in concert again & again!!! Love you Teena.

RAHEEM REALLY WORKED THE CROWD, COMING OFF THE STAGE MOVING AROUND THE YARD NOT BEING AFRAID TO BE TOUCHED BY HIS FANS

I really enjoyed the show. Didn't get to see too much of Mr. Davaughn, but Teena still has it. She has the same vocal range and energy as she did when I saw her in the 80's. Her daughter sounded wonderful. I appreciated Teena for giving Rick James his props that was mighty big of her. The only disappointment I had was Teena should have left Wildflowers alone, that didn't work, and put her vocals to work on Irons in the Fire. I lot of folks were hoping to here that song. Let her know when she comes to the Washington DC area, she needs to put Irons in the Fire in the lineup.... Great show, can't wait fill she comes back, and to hear her daughters album.

It was awesome! Raheem and Teena did their thing!!

I missed most of Raheem Devaughn trying to find parking, but caught all of the Lady T show. Man, she hasn't lost a beat in 30 years! The voice is still on point, (unlike some singers who's voices decline over the years) and still hitting all the high notes like she did back in the day. The show was awesome, when she sang "Portugese In Love" , "Square Biz" , "Sucka For Your Love", "Lover Girl", I could go on and on man, but everything was off the chain! And the duet she did with her 17 year old daughter standing in for Faith Evans? They took that joint to the bridge! The kid sounds just like her Mom and was cute too! One of the best shows I've been too in years and I left totally satisfied. If only she had sung "Out On A Limb", or "Work It", or so many others! Still I can't complain, I got my money's worth and then some. IF YOU EVER HAVE THE CHANCE TO SEE TEENA MARIE, GO SEE HER PERFORM! It doesn't matter if you remember most of here early years or not, she puts on a show that anyone from 15 - 65 can enjoy just for the pleasure of listening to a great artist and singer do her stuff!

this show was great from beginning to the end i could not stay in my seat, brought back great memories and tearful in some part. Lenny Williams had me in tears.

Teena sounds the same today as she did some 30 odd years. Absolutely amazing vocals and her music is obviously timeless and reaches all age groups. This is the second time I have seen her perform and will do so again.

If you never seen Teena Marie, you are miss you miss one of the best ever,Her voice has not change at all,if she anywhere with in 200 miles I will be there.

Teena Marie's performance was amazing as usual. Definitely an artist whose emotions hit the stage through her music! Loved her and loveds Lenny Williams and Heatwave. All great artists!

This concert was EXCELLENT!!! All 3 acts were great, The place had to be sold out, I had good seats, but, after watching it, I would have paid for the $100.00 seats, It was that good. Teena Marie can still sing those high notes, I would like to see her again, I am glad that they have such good shows at the County Fair, 2 years ago I saw Donna Summer another amazing show.

Teena Marie is in her 50's, but she is still outperforming so many. She started out with a bang, singing, playing guitar and percussion. She sang many of her best songs, and she sang three Rick James songs, which was an awesome surprise. The crowd went crazy! Her ballads were absolutely amazing, just as they always have been. She was very active on stage, jumping up and down, and belting out those high, high notes like nothing. I was pretty pleased to see how well she did, even at her age. Her band was powerful. I liked the male back-up singer she had, he sounded like Rick James and really kept up with it all. Her sax player was impressive, too. She really stood out to me. Good news is the show was a hit. I love Teena Marie. She is a class act. I hope to see her again.

Teena Marie put on a great show as always. She doesn't dissapoint, and I partied the entire time she was on stage.

The show was outstanding! Teena did her thing! Teenamarie has never received the recognition she deserves! Lenny Williams sang the blues... and Heatwave, just plain old got down. I would highly recommend seeing this show. Hope they come back next year.

I have seen Teena Marie many, many times and this was one of her all time best concerts. She sang, she danced, she played the guitar and the congos. As someone who has been a fan for over 30 years, it was great that she took it back to the beginning with Deja Vu. I came all the way down from the Bay Area and it was well worth the trip. The venue was good, the crowd very diverse, it was a great night of music.

It was amazing!! Lenny sounds exactly the same. It was so impresive to hear him.. Then when Tina Marie came on she got the party started. Wow she was amazing. Every one was dancing n singing. It was the best show... Het voice is great...

SHE KEPT THE ENTIRE AUDIENCE UP ( OLD SKOOL & NEW) AND STANDING, DANCING, AND FEELING GOOD. I HAVE BEEN TOO MANY MANY CONCERTS , BUT I HAVE ONLY HEARD THE AUDIENCE CHANT FOR AN ENCORE ONCE, ( OVER 10 MINUTES OF SCREAMING " TEEEEENNNNNAAAAA"!! LENNY WILLIAMS WAS RIGHT ON P[OINT AND GAVE US EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED ON " BECAUSE I LOVE YOU" OHH , OHHH, OHHHH, OHHHHHHHH. HEATWAVE WAS GREAT AND FUNKY LIVE AS USUAL. it was my wife b-day and we had a ball. the DJ/Music/ and crowd in between the show was also good. Tina and Keuth was amazing

The concert was really nice......... Keith Sweat did his thing, he sounded pretty good.. Teena Marie is the bomb!!!!!! She tore it up and gave us a little extra at the end... Intermission was off the hook with Gary O, it was like being at an old school party in between a concert... And the Dell really looks great with the new renovations... Really enjoyed myself, me and the misses....

I try to see Lady T every time she comes to town. She was great as usual. Loved the venue. The sound was so much better than other local facilities.Security might want to be a little more leniant to the audience participation requests of the artists. I saw Teena and Rick in Atlantic City just before he died and her tribute to him at this show was phenonomal.

To Anonymous on the Phill august 7, 2010 concert at the Dell East - I am saying DITTO to everything you said on this AWESOME, AWESOME concert. I am also saying it was money well spent and I was thoroughly entertained. i knew I had to be there and I was not disappointed. Hats off to Teena who is a veteran performer and I felt her all of the way, even down to her thanking the Lord for bringing her through. Keith Sweat did a great show also, but i also want to give props to the DJ Gary O. Before the show and during intermission, he had the stadium rocking, he was playing every old school jam he could think of, and there were points of entertainment from the audience, it was great fun, there is no school like old school! I loved this concert and would go again because I love Teena.

The Teena Marie concert at the Robin Hood Dell East in Philadelphia on August 7th was simply AWESOME. I know its cliche, but all the Motown trained musicians know how to ENTERTAIN. They can cover a song, or switch things up to keep the audience engaged, not just run through the paces of their well-rehearsed show. Opening with "In My House" and decked out in a silver ensemble, Teena owned the stage from the first note to the last encore. All eyes were on her the second she hit the stage ...as it should be. She sang all her hits with enthusiasm and a sense of energy, making it clear that she was here to thank us fans for coming out to her SOLD OUT show. Whether she was singing, playing the guitar, playing the congas, or strutting her stuff across the stage with the back-up singers, it was SHOWTIME and she definitely gave us 100%. Her Band was tight, too. The Bass player and Teena had GREAT eye contact and really worked off one another even when she changed things up. I think she said his name was Doug and he is a Philly native. A medley of her classic duets with Rick James made the evening complete. She was even nice enough to start the set off by having a little kid who gave her flowers come up on the stage as a way of saying thank you to his Mom, who had introduced him to her music. Her encore set included 'Casanova Brown' and had the ladies sitting behind me, crying as they sang along. Even after being on stage for two hours she almost HAD TO BEG to be allowed to sing one last song, before they told her she HAD TO END the show. WOW. Thanks for coming Teena. Please come again! PS: The Dell was recently renovated, monery well spent.

AMAZING is my response and grade for the show. Well done and GREAT job done by the Dell in organizing the event.

this is still one of the greatest entertainers of our time still delivers a spectacular show the little tribute to rick james had the crowd pumped and jumpin then the encores proves she can still hold the crowd even after they tried to kick her out she wanted to stay n perform damn shes a true entertainer who loves her fans as we love her i've seen her in just about every show done here in philly, jersey and will travel 2 see her no matter where she is thank you tenna and keep up the great work

Keith Sweat was good. Teena Marie was good and ready to jam however, you could tell there was some struggles with her set-up and crew. I would like to see it again at another venue. The Robin Dell Center is a nice venue however, the crowd was dry - especially, when Teena Marie came on stage.

This was my treat for my Husband OMGOOOOODNESS we really truly enjoyed ourselves. We sat 3 rows from the stage in section B, Keith Sweat was just Fantastic he was on for a hour and he performed many, many songs one after another and good crowd participation. NOW Teena Marie was Absolutely Phenomenal she was on close to two hours, the Woman came to The Dell and delivered 100% of her talent with great crowd participation. When Teena Marie came off the stage asked this guy in the front row of our section, if she could use his chair, security lift her on the chair and she belted out one of her songs that was absolutely great. Sorry, I can not think of the song i was mesmerized. .The crowd went crazy after she sang her last song they were chanting"one more, one more" to my surprise she came back and performed 2 more songs. I have nothing but praises for her.

Fantasic concert, great sunny, warm weather. Full of enery, fun and love for the artist. Traveled 300 miles to get to there. Second trip to the Robin Hood Dell to see Teena. Looking forward to next year. Both singers performed their top hits and had the entire audiances participation. Also, the excellent seats, fourth row center, up close.

It was a great show they both sounded amazing,they both also had great jokes worth every penny.This was my 2nd time seeing both of them and the 2nd time was as good as the first time.

It was a good concert, only thing to bad Keith Sweat was not allowed to perform longer. But crowd was good and Nokia Theatre is a great place for concerts.

The concert was awesome !KeithSweat came out and rocked it! He sounds great! His performance was on it, and I just loved going back down memory lane. The Whispers were top notch as always! Sexy, Old school, Loved it! And Teena!!!! Lady Tee never disappoints! Her voice was awesome! Loved the Rick James tribute and flashback pics, made a nice touch to the show. Only thing I could have down without was "Milk & Honey". I loved the duet her and her daughter sang at the Jazzfest West that is on her latest album, but the new song just didnt fit it last night. Would have preferred to hear "Dear Lover". Show was still off the chain with that being said. Nokia just needs to work on their drinks at the concession stands.

Charlie and Teena put on a great show. Teena as always puts on a great show. However, I though Teena would have did a mixture of songs from old to new. She only did older songs. I was a little disappointed that she did not mix it up, however, it was still an awesome show. K'Jon was awesome, hats off to my local artist and Charlie Wilson had more energy than the energizer bunny. They were both great!

On Monday Aug 31st, we were fortunate enough to be a part of An Intimate Evening With Teena Marie at the Birchmere Music Hall in Alexandra, VA. This show was nothing short of an amazing acoustic experience! It's not your typical "unplugged" performance, but rather up close and personal (literally) and filled with anecdotes that are both hilarious and touching. The format is somewhat unusual (but completely effective!) as the set doesn't even kick off with music as one would expect, but instead begins with the suave and funny Lee Cadena serving as MC. Throughout the evening he and Teena banter with great ease and charm. Ms. Marie then takes the stage and chats candidly with the crowd for a good while. During this time she invites members of the audience to come up on stage and ask her questions which she answers as only she could (The Tee is one funny Lady!). Then the music begins and she takes us down memory lane with a beautiful rendition of Smokey Robinson's "Ooh Baby, Baby". Teena's voice is every bit as rich and alive today and her amazing range remains intact. She swooned us with hits like "If I Were A Bell", "Out On A Limb", "Dear Lover", "Portugese Love" and, of course "Fire and Desire". She also touched on perhaps-lesser-known (but personal favorites of mine) songs like "Wild Horses" (from "Passion Play", one of her least known, but best albums) on the piano and "How Can You Resist It" on acoustic guitar. And don't think for one second that the fact that this was an acoustic set (guitars, piano, keyboard (Johnny Angel) and bass (Douglas Grigsby) only) kept Ms. Marie from bringing the FUNK. She had us up on our feet dancing to classics like "Square Biz", "I'm Just A Sucker For Your Love" and "Lovergirl" too! Teena Marie is an energetic and gracious performer who gives her all, running through the crowd at times and even serenading a few folk who were celebrating anniversaries. This was a night I won't soon forget.

I really loved this show, not just because I'm a diehard Teena Marie fan ... but because the setting was so intimate, and I loved that Teena had a conversation with the audience for about 30 minutes, before she sang WELL for two hours. It was one of the best concerts I've ever been too! This format is a great format for REAL singers.

OMG! This concert was the best, Keith came out and did his thing...great job! But Tina, that girl can sang....not sing...sang! She still has it...she seem like a very laid back cool person. and the dance moves was out of this world... I like Tina she did a really good job...

THIS WAS A GREAT FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE BY EVERYONE. I WAS ANXIOUS TO SEE LENNY WILLIAMS. TRUTH BE TOLD I GOT OUT OF MY SICK BED LITERALLY TO ESPECIALLY SEE HIM AND HE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I KNEW TEENA MARIE WOULD BE AMAZING ITS JUST THAT WITH SHOWS WHO ARE GROUPED TOGETHER YOUR ARTIST NEVER HAS ENOUGH TIME. Teena Marie put on an amazing show which brought back lots of old school memories and had the entire audience on its feet the whole night! She has not lost one ounce of that blue eyed soul and her voice is still as soulful and amazing in its range as ever. Her renditions of Rick James' hits were particularly heartfelt as was her solo version of Fire and Desire. After all these years, Lady T still seriously Rocks!!!

Lenny Williams was amazing. He really brought back a lotta good memories. Teena Marie was on FIYAH as always. Everytime I see Teena in concert she's blowin up the stage. Teena's music, lyrics, and voice just touches my soul like no other artist has ever done.

Teena Marie was great as usual. Loved the whole set she did. Lenny Williams is "Tower of Power" no need to see them at all. Heat Wave brought back the old days.

The performance by Tina Marie was excellent, she provided the audience with 1.5 hours of pure entertainment. She never missed a beat or missed a note. She appealed to the crowd of my age group but also appealed to a younger audience that was sprinkled among the audience. Lenny Williams, a great entertainer. His performance was dynamic and appealing on a wide range of music, i.e, blues, R&B and ballardeere. Overall, the concert was excellent. Both Lenny Williams and Tina Marie provided the type of entertainment that was unforgettable in every way, from start to finish.

The event was out of sight. Both performers sounded just like back in the day. Great concert.

It was very painful listening to this concert the acoustics sucked. Unless you knew the words to the songs you couldn't understand any of them.

This was my very first time at a concert at the county fair and I was very impressed!! I love the stage set up and the promptness of the concert.. it started on time and ended with a BLAST! I am going back on the 25th for the Stlyistics and others.

Teena Marie was outstanding!!! She still knows how to rock the stage. It was great to hear alot of the songs I grew listening too on the radio and at the parties. I spend alot of time up out of my seat dancing to beats.

I'd never been to a concert @ the Fairplex before, so I didnt know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised, by not only the seating, but the overall concert experience itself. Teena Maria is absolutely PHENOMENAL! She sounds just like her albums; Lenny Willams as well as Heatwave took me back to my childhood jams! I was looking forward to this so much, it the overall experience didn't disappoint! Whenever there is someone good coming to the fairgrounds,...I'll be there!!

Amazing performance! Seats were not the best but her show was so worth it! Heatwave was full of energy! Lenny Williams was a dirty ol man but was GREAT! Love to see REAL music instead of the stuff played on the radio... Cant wait to see Teena in concert again!

Outstanding performance by the one and only true singer left. With Phyllis Hyman gone, Angela Bofil out of circulation, Teena Marie is the last of the real songstresses left. Her voice is better than ever. We love Teena. We miss Rick James too.

Teena Marie performed some of her most powerful ballads and most danceablne funk classics in the intimacy of Birchmere. Teena sang to the audience, laughed with (sometimes at) the audience, and regaled us with stories of her youth. She is the consummate professional, and her voice and music were spot on. I'm selective about the shows I will pay for, and in this case, I chose wisely.

What a show! Teena was herself, up close and personal and her voice and music are as incredible as ever. It was the best setting to see her in. Not on a huge stage with large full band but a smaller setting where her personality and voice could shine. If you love Teena, don't miss this one.

So glad I caught this performance. And so glad the Birchmere pulls such great artists! Been a fan of T.M. forever and her Aug. 2 performance was a great reminder why. She's got so many hits and she covered several of my favorites. Opened the show with Deja Vu and closed the show with Square Biz and Casanova Brown. Lots of good stuff in between, including a couple of Rick James hits and Fire & Desire without a male voice--but it was still great. And she's funny! Someone you'd like to have drinks with after the show:>

Teena put on a great show, it was an intimate setting where she answered questions from the audience and performed songs as we shouted them out. She also told a few hilarious stories. Above all, she can sing her butt off. Two thumbs up. Also, love the Birchmere...good food, good drinks.

This was my first opportunity to see Teena live. And to see her at the Birchmere in such an intimate setting was as much as one could hope for. She personalized her performance to be more appropiate for the Birchmere atmophere. She told stories, anwsered questions from the audience and sang. Did I say sang? She saaaannnng!!!! She performed breathlessly for almost 3 hours. Now where do you get that these days. She increased the value of the 2 tickets I bought with every note. In fact, I feel like I owe her money!!

Teena Marie was amazing! Her vocals have not changed since she started singing.

Teena Marie was AWESOME. She was simply FANTASTIC. Her voice is beautiful. When she sings she captivates the audience and pulls you in. She is so REAL and DOWN TO EARTH.

I have seen Teena many times at DAR Constitution Hall and she is amazing, but I must say that this show was by far the best performance that I have ever seen. The setting was very intimate, up close and personal. The acoustics were perfect and I would definitely recommend seeing Teena at the Birchmere.

The show was fantastic, I am so hoping she comes back. she is truly a remarakble artist.

I have been to a lot of shows...but Teena Marie was by the far, the absolute best show I have EVER attended. She was downright, at her best. I loved the intimacy of the Birchmere, it was if Teena was performing...in my very own living room. She was natural, beautiful and singing like a songbird and her audience appeal was so warm and loving. She has and always will be...my favorite female singer. And her back up performers were just as great.

An amazing performance by Lady T! The setting was very intimate, which allowed her to take personal requests. A great show that I would definitely see again!!

We all know Lady T can sing, but this was a performance to be remembered. The vocals were fantastic, her showmanship and crowd participation was very welcome. I felt almost like i knew her and was at a party with an old friend
