Ahmad Jamal

The man is amazing and his band was tight. The couple beside me said they had seen Ahmad's shows several times, the first being in Pittsburgh over fifty years ago. That says something in itself. Of course, "Poinciana" received a standing o. The Ritz Theatre in Jacksonville is a wonderfully intimate venue for a jazz show. The MC was great with her introduction; Ahmad himself said, "Now, how do I top that?" But, of course, he did.

Ahmad Jamal and his group took full advantage of the intimate setting at the Ritz Theatre to deliver a concert that was up close and personal. What an amazing performer he is at 80!

Music and vibe were superb; we had an excellent evening and would see him again.
