They blew that place apart, the band was tight and they played like the good old days and the audience responded with massive appreciation, now I must say that I am a stage lighting designer/director and had done many lighting gigs with band back in the day, when they broke up my little bother was Roth's ld for his two solo tours as well as the first VH reunion so I was glad I got to see the band rock out more time, later in the week I had the honor of providing lighting for Van Halen Rising book signing/launch party gig in Pasadena, CA, with tribute band Fan Halen and a lot of the old San Gabriel Valley rockers who were in bands back in the day, the original bassist for Van Halen joined the tribute band for a few songs and one of the bands had the little brother of the second bassist from Van Halen, so it was great seeing a lot of the musicians I provided lighting for way back when and the whole night was a stone groove blast, in closing I would just like to say thank you to Van Halen for giving us some of the greatest rock and roll in the history of music and I am happy that I was a part of it, keep rockin...

Yes, they are in their 60's (well of course Wolf is the youngster), but they still put on a good, decent show. I go to many of their concerts, and after the show, I hear a bunch of fat, bald guys complaining how Dave is no good. I always say "well look at the source". They rock the venue, are professionals, and sell out all the time. Understand the time we're in, and don't expect them to be jumping around like the 81' tour. When you set your expectations in this reality, get a beer, enjoy the music, you'll have a blast...

They blew me away for many reasons. 1. David's still got it! still doesn't sing that well. But never did. But he did and still does put on one hell of a show! And 2. As a bass player myself for 40 yrs. and counting. Wolfgang was bad ass! His right hand fingers were flying at times. And he had some flurries of runs that I never saw Michael Anthony even attempt. 3. And Eddie genuinely looked like he was having a blast! Played as good as ever! 4. But the best part was how they gave off the appearance of being a family. Wolfgang, dad, Uncle Alex and good ole Uncle Dave. Dave said he spent some of the best times of his life on stage with Eddie. And I believed him. The crowd was great! The sound was great! It was an epic experience. One of the top twenty concerts I've attended. And I've literally been to a few hundred over the last 42 years since high school...

Well this was for the fans. They played song after song without hardly stopping for the first hour or so. All their original stuff. Loud hard rock just as I remember them. David has lost a little bit but Eddie sure can play. He does things with the guitar that no one else can. I enjoyed it and to be honest enjoyed Kenny Wayne Shepherd just as much. I'm a big fan. He is awesome.

The guys might be older, but they still put on a freaking awesome show! Dave still has it, Alex doesn't miss a beat, and Eddie I think has only gotten better. Wolfe is a great addition too. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PUNDITS! You will not be disappointed. I wish I could go to more shows. They played for 2 hours and 15 minutes with only short breaks while Dave, Eddie, and Alex had a solo.

I saw two things that I was not very happy with. Number one was the first 5 - 20 seconds of several songs, the band was not in synch with each other. Second was DLR changing the notes to their songs. A few times is fine but he did it too much. If VH was just an average sounding band, I probably would have left early. I paid way to much money per ticket to watch a non professional band. The bottom line is VH has such great songs, the good is way better than the bad.

Van Halen made a triumphant return to the same place they "Owned" back in 1983. Except back then it was called The U.S. Festival at "Glen Helen Regional Park, Baby" - DLR quote from 32 years ago. Van Halen came out "Rocking" from the start of the show with "Light Up The Sky" and did not stop until the final song "Jump". I thought I was back in the early 80's with the first four songs. The band played the classics along with a few special surprises of songs never played live before (Thank-you Wolfie!). This show was way better than anything I saw on the last two tours. Also, props to the security at the venue for keeping the pit area in order so those of us who paid the money and we're lucky enough to sit close could enjoy the show better.

Overall , the show rocked. Eddie shredded! The sound was muddled at first but got cleaned up as the third song began. There was no doubt that Eddie and his guitar wizardry OWN that band. He couldn't have been better. Alex was a machine too. The only thing that left me wanting is Roth's desire to flip the script, sing (or talk) on the off beats and NOT give the fans the songs they know and love the way they wanted to hear them. Eddie did both...improvising as well as NAILING the familiar parts everybody came to see and hear. I understand Roth not wanting to do the same old thing over and over again but mannnn, just every now and then sing the dang song the way we all know and love it. It was distracting to see thousands of people sing it the way we love it and see Dave caterwauling on a whole different trip. If you can get past that, like I tried hard to do, the show rocked!

Having been a Van Halen fan for over 37 years, and seeing them more than 50 times in concert, I must say this show is definitely in the top five of all the shows I have seen. This one was for the fans. Deep, deep, cuts. If you're not a REAL fan, you would have been lost. Eddie and the gang really pulled out all of the stops to give us the be all end all show of our lives. Thank you Ed, and thank you Van Halen!

OMG! Van Halen at the White River Amphitheater was awesome. So many good moments I can't name them all. The opening act, Kenny Wayne Shepard, was great and I would see them again in a heart beat. Their rendition of Voodoo Child was amazing. Then came the rock gods...Van Halen. Saw them two years ago at the Tacoma Dome and let me tell you...they improved and perfected. David your voice was spot on (couple of hiccups but don't mind...how many years have you been screaming. Eddie you got in shape... lost some weight and rocked it all night. Wolfgang...good base playing and nice voice addition...hard to replace Anthony but I like the effort. Alex...you never falter. All the favorites were played and a lot from the newer album. As long as David can keep that voice going this will be an awesome tour for them.

I was always a VH fan when it involved DLR. I was not a big fan of Van Hagar. So when this tour was announced, I was pretty excited and thought about scraping the $ to go...but when my 16 year old said she wanted to see them too, I knew I just HAD to make it happen for her. The cost of two tickets in the arena level, row one, ran about the same as two months worth of payments on her braces. But being the rockstar mom that I am, I wasn't about to let my kid down. And down is pretty much how we felt when we walked out of the AT&T Center after this show. Kool & the Gang were great. Eddie, Alex and Wolfie were outstanding. DLR had to have been intoxicated. The few times he muttered any lyric, it was slurred rather than sung. His jokes rambled on aimlessly. I sensed tension between DLR & Eddie. Wolfie seemed to play along. My 16 year old, who was so excited about this show to begin with, finally just gave up and sat down. She had difficultly figuring out a couple of the songs until the back up vocals kicked in. It was so disappointing and a waste of $. I gave the show two stars. One because Kool & the Gang was good. Two because VH went through with the whole show and did not cut it short like A7X did to the fans of San Antonio on May 18, 2011. I mean, at least DLR stayed on stage the whole time and mumbled while throwing out about a half a dozen high kicks. He joked about how he meant to take 2 Advil & a glass of water before coming out on stage, but he accidently took 2 prescription pain pills and 3 shots of vodka....which is about what I needed after the show to drown my sorrow for my wasted $320. Oh...and they didn't perform "Jamie's Crying"

I have seen every encarnation of VH except for Gary Cherone. I have to say that VH brought it's A game and then some tonight to the US Airways Center in Phoenix. From the start of the show with the opening chords to Unchained, I knew that this was going to be a special show. The father and son tandem of Eddie and Wolfgang Van Halen along with David Lee Roth and brother/uncle Alex Van Halen gave the sell out crowd and fathers in attendance an early Fathers Day treat. The band was in top form. I've watch most of the YouTube posted videos from other concert dates and this one indeed felt special. Contrary to all rumors, the bad seems to be getting along better than ever and the chemistry between all band members was really heart felt and you could feel the mutual respect between everyone. The interaction the band had with each other really left me with the feeling that VH as a band is alive, and well, and has much more musical gifts to bear upon us in the future. Dave was everything he is supposed to be and lived up to my expectations. His interaction with the crowd really is an artform that only David Lee Roth can spill onto a canvas. You can also tell he feels much more comfortable as the frontman than he did in the 2007 tour. One thing I found more unique about this concert than others I've seen video of from on this tour is that he seemed to respect his vocal limitations much more tonight and sang within his range for the most part and was in key most of the night. He was his usual comedic self, and the rest of the band seemed to be having a blast with him as there were many times you could see Wolfgang and Eddie laughing along with the rest of us to Dave's antics. Alex is one of the unsung heros of this band. He pounds out the rhythm section night in and night out flawlessly and is one of the greatest rock and roll drummers the world has ever seen. His solo was short and sweet, and gave us a nice and funky kind of salsa beat that kept the show moving past halftime. Kick ass performance all around. What can I say about Wolfgang. The kids just doesn't get ass much credit as he deserves. His high octave backups serve as a more than adequate substitute for Michael Anthony, and in many ways I believe as a bass player is even better. He brings a new vibe to the rhythm section that wasn't there before. This is evident in the brand new material on the album like China Town. You can definately feel his presence on the new material. Wolfgang also has saved and resurected the band and inspired Eddie to be the musician we have all been waiting for him to become. Without Wolfie, we would not have a new album and tour. Period. Last but not lease, we have King Edward. After witnessing tonights show, I have no doubt in my mind that he is the best guitar player in the world. I can't think of any other musician where at age 56 I can say that I have seen them at their best. He was spot on and it was the best performance I've seen from him. Also his best solo btw. He added some great riffs to his solo tonight that I haven't heard before. Dave had the courtesy afterwards to give him a high five and tell him it was by far, the best solo from him on the tour so far. And from everything I've seen and heard, it really was. We are seeing a focus and desire in Eddie that we've never seen before and I think we are in for some really good stuff yet in the years to come. God bless, and thanks Wolfie for straigthening the old man out! LOL. Those fortunate enough to have tickets for the remaining shows, I can offer one word of advice. Don't miss it! I had mediocre seats and at the last minute decided to give myself an early Fathers Day gift and popped for some pretty pricey floor seats in the 20th row. It was worth every.

Van Halen knows how to deliver an awesome show! Diamond Dave was dancing around, interacting with the audience and still doing high leg kicks! Eddie...what's left to say. While Eddie still rocks the guitar and overall the performance was great, I am not wholly sure that either Dave remembers the words to the songs anymore or he just ad-lib's all the songs, which can be quite disappointing. I was also disappointed that security didn't make a bigger effort to rid people smoking dope within the facility. The couple in front of us brought their small child and this idiot a row over was oblivious to them and continued to smoke the whole show.

Eddie's still awesome with his guitar. We all came to see him perform and he didn't disappoint. David is a different story though--he moved and spun but in an awkward way. Vocals are still good though ;) I don't mind the steep climb, even though I feel like I''m gonna fall if I don't hold on to the railings. But the lack of air conditioning is deplorable. Usually when people get settled in, you feel the air and it gets comfortable. That night, it was just sweaty the hold time. Parking was $20, why? This is Anaheim, not downtown LA.

In every review I have read prior to the Anaheim show, reviewers have praised the entire band for being at the top of their game. This show was no different. They were giants on this night and masters of their craft. As I watched, listened and "danced" (more like shuffled about), it was hard for me to believe that Ed is not too far away from 60 years of age. He played like a master, yet youthful at the same time. The fact that Ed is arguably the best at his craft (gauging art is so subjective), and played so brilliantly is not surprising. What was surprising to me was that during several songs where Ed isn't designed to shine (Pretty Woman, Dance The Night Away, Beautiful Girls), the entire crowds' energy seemed to swell. We all were so thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful experience that the energy, at least to me, was palpable. During Dance The Night Away, some of the house lights were on and you could see the crowd dancing together. Thousands of people dancing, singing and just "happy". It's a week adjective to use, but it was as simple as that. We were collectively happy. As Van Halen played the final notes to Jump, red, white and blue confetti rained down on the stage. The crowd erupted and as we watched the giants wave, salute and thank the crowd, with the final shreds of confetti falling, I was actually saddened. It was the first time I have ever been so moved by the end of a music concert. I didn't want it to end. Two full hours weren't enough to whet my appetite. I wanted it to last forever and see my guitar god play until I couldn't stand anymore, but just like that the last scrap of paper fell and the giants were gone. America's rock band is back. Their music and performance moved me like never before.

Just the fact that dimond Dave is back was cool even though he forgot the words to every song , in the past he would forget the words to a few songs , but this was a new classic dave . Eddie was on fire and played all his classic riffs the way we remember them . Overall it was great to hear the music that started a new era of guitar driven rock . It was a fun show n I would go again .

The bad. Who hired the sound mixing technicians, Honda Center or the Van Halen organization? They were terrible. I could hardly hear the lead vocal or the bass . Need to turn down the drums and the lead guitar. Oddly enough, I could hear the backup vocals perfectly. I know what I'm talking about, having played in bands and attended live concerts since 1965. Someone should tell Eddie that the sound mixing technicians trashed his music, as I know what a stickler he is for perfect sound. I heard McCartney at the Honda Center approximately 5 years ago in the sound was perfect, like being in a recording studio. McCartney's people are good professionals. The Van Halen crew was not. This particular sound mix crew should not be invited back, as they give Honda Center a bad name. The good. These three 57-year-olds worked their butts off for 2 1/2 hours, and nailed every song with quality musicianship and the energy of 21-year-olds. Eddie has lost nothing on guitar in 40 years and David moved like a 21-year-old. They must all go to the gym 2 hours a day to stay in that good of shape at that age. Great showmanship and musicianship. My 26 year-old son and his girlfriend were blown away by the quality of the songwriting and the musicianship and the energy, remarking that this band is still better than 95% of the younger bands in the business.

At 43, I've been a huge fan for years! And have introduced my teen son to them. He's developed a strong liking for a lot of their music as well. We have anticipated this show with much excitement for months now. But sadly, that excitement dwindled towards the middle of the show. It's time for Dave to retire for good...or perhaps find a spot on Dancing with the Stars...he still has a few jumps and moves left -barely! Overall, I walked away extremely disappointed. Of course I didn't expect the same show as the ones back in the good ol' days, but just found Diamond Dave very sloppy! Putting in his own lyrics, off beat most times, and in some cases seemed as if he either forgot or skipped over lyrics. The sound mix was just plain nasty...couldn't hear the lyrics very clearly and the drums were drowned out most of the time! Very unprofessional for a veteran band like this! The video effects were ridiculous at times...showing some kind of triple image effect which defeated the purpose of the giant screen. Most times the display was in black and white! Eddie and Alex are still incredible! Both were right on target and as great as ever! The new bass player did his job very well. If nothing else, it was a great night out with my 13 year old son...and he got the see two of the best musicians ever (Eddie and Alex)! For that reason, I would still recommend the show...just for the experience of seeing two of rock's greatest. Like most people, I thought it was odd to have Kool and the Gang open for them. But, Kool and the Gang were a great treat. They played all their great hits and the horns were amazing! Overall not worth the 149.00 PER ticket! Should have gotten the 40.00 nose bleeds instead...NOT WORTH WHAT I PAID.

I love listening to Van Halen, their songs rock! What energy. But like all energy it must be harnessed correctly! I had forgotten how good Kool and the Gang was, they sounded GREAT. This is an important point, They SOUNDED great! A nice set, my wife and I were groovin! Then it was time for Van Halen, Geeze I was looking forward to a good show! It's really too bad from the first chord, the PA system that brought us an enjoyable Kool, was now manned by a really bad mixer. The show Audio was way too loud, way too distorted, and after 63 minutes of our ears bleeding unnecessarily, we were forced to leave. I was amazed at the number of other people who were leaving the same time we were. I commented to folk, about the horrible sound, they agreed that was the reason they had left also! What a crime, to pay good money for good seats for a show you were really looking forward too, only to be driven out by an incompetent mix! That's just SAD! It's just WRONG!

Music was good, but paid alot of money to be on the floor only to spend most of the night on my tip toes trying to see the guys on stage. Watched 95% on the screens overhead :( I think they could have raised the stage up, but it seemed like it was lowered - all the people in my group thought the same thing. If I wanted to watch a video, I would not have paid so much for the tickets! Thanks Excel - great planning. I think the band was good tho, but had I known David Lee Roth would not allow himself to sing any of the 5150 songs - I might have thought twice. It was good - wouldn't say don't go.

Eddie, Alex and Wolfgang were in TOP form. Alex's drum solo was just awesome and proves that even at his age, he is still one of the best drummers in the business. Wolgang's guitar playing was excellent, but he seemed to be satisfied playing in the background, for the most part. Eddie's solo was the highlight of the show and lasted almost 20 minutes. He can really make that guitar talk. It is soooooo good to watch him do it in person! David Lee was really better than I thought he would be. His couple of missteps did not mar his showmanship. I think the lack of current 'palship' with Eddie was very evident every time DLR would walk over to EVH during a song. He used to lean all over Eddie, now he seems nowhere near as comfortable nor did Eddie. You could sense something was off there and it was only a week later that Van Halen announced they would not complete the tour after they played in New Orleans. Someone told me that the VH boys were difficult to get along with and it looks like that's true. I'll ask Sammy about it when I get to Cabo Wabo in August! lol

It was awesome to see a band that for many reasons I could not see while growing up. Now I get to see them and the sound was soooo distorted that you couldn't understand what they were even playing. Even during David Lee Roth talking parts, not one understandable word. I will never... ever... again pre-purchase paid parking. Thought it was a good deal until the kid at the toll booth would not except the parking pass and refused to open the gate unitl I paid him cash. So yes, I loved the show, hated the sound and found out it would be better to pay a flag person at a private lot then more money to the venue. Oh, and cudos to the Minneapolis Tribune and Pioneer Press people for standing on milk crates and ladders right in front of us for about first 15 minutes of each show.

The last time I saw VH was during the 1984 Monsters of Rock tour in Germany. I knew they wouldn't be the same, but this concert musically was almost exactly the same. Dave rocked, but his voice isn't the same as it was 28 years ago. That certainly was to be expected. I went with my brother and we really had a good time.

I don't want to lie. David Lee Roth may have made the biggest mistake in the history of Rock n Roll when he left Van Halen years ago. Van Halen may have made the second biggest mistake in the history of Rock n Roll when they decided to go on tour again with David Lee Roth. Roth made an attempt at talk Radio a while back, a hard industry to break into and be successful, but his real talent was "Poorly" singing as a colorful front man while Eddie Van Halen made noises never before heard from an Electric Guitar . Some of the Van Halen songs were without a doubt great lyrically, but some were also very childish and silly. It didn't matter because the antics of the 4 members made even a song like Drop Dead Legs sound like a musical composition of biblical proportion. (Nice White Jeans, Betty Boop) Those days are, sadly in the past. The show highlighted by Kool and the Gang, went off after the Roadies spent 20 minutes polishing the floor so David Lee Roth could spin around and twirl his microphone like a Baton. At least he could have lit the ends of the microphone to give the appearance of a Luau and the Fire Dancer. The Staples Center doesn't have a great sound to begin with, but Van Halen's sound was awful. After they got done playing Unchained, I was surprised to lean that David Lee Roth's microphone was Actually ON. I could not hear anything from Roth's Mic and looked forward to the Chorus to sing along with Wolfgang and Eddie. Roth has taken to the antics of not singing the songs like the record. I saw a cover band in San Diego and the guy could hit the High notes, the Guitarist had Eddie's licks down, I sang along with the band and had a great time. I would highly recommend if you go on tour, you at least try to sing the songs like the Record. You play the songs like they are on the album.... Why would you play the music correctly but sing or "talk" your way through the lyrics differently than on the record? (maybe so we recognize the song and try to make out the lyrics) Maybe his voice is shot. Maybe he can't jump and do the splits anymore. Roth is still the front man of the Van Halen I grew up with. It would be nice if Roth tried to sing the songs and maybe not hit the high notes. Roth played a video of a Sheep Dog running around after sheep and spoke clearly with passion about his ranch up north. He proceeded to play Ice Cream Man and left out the lyrics "I'm usually passing by Just around 11 O'Clock I never stop........ If ya' let me cool you one time you'll be my regular stop.............. and instead slid his feet back and forth on the floor screaming Ice Cream Man Ice Cream Man. There is not doubt that he would much rather Ramble on and on with Eddie playing the guitar in the background than sing some of the greatest Rock and Roll Songs of all time. If I could offer Van Halen one bit of advise or help direct their future with just one word it would be "Journey" Get a man who looks like Roth Sounds like Roth and get rid of Roth. If Journey can do it so can you. ( Journey needs to get rid of the constant Neil Schon guitar solos now. ) It is hard to accept the truth and sometimes even harder to express it. Eddie Van Halen said he was F***ing High as a Kite and played a Guitar Solo that was fantastic. Alex whaled away on his pig skins and Wolfgang did a fine job. Joe Jackson has a song called Hometown, and how he wishes he could go back but it will never be the same.... How true. In closing, it was obvious to me that Van Halen lacked two performers, Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth.

Didn't expect the show to be so good. I looked forward to the set list, but doubted the performance. Very surprised to find the stage and lighting simple yet great. Didn't expect much showmanship and did not know if Eddie and David were going to be getting along and such, and watching them was just as entertaining as hearing the show. The seemed genuinely to be enjoying themselves and the music. It resulted in a night of great songs and entertainment. Had a great eight row seat which helped and got some great photos. Overall it was a really great show, their energy was high because it was the third to last show of the tour. Made me want to see another show up in Hollywood Bowl after seeing them in San Diego.

I am not a HUGE Van Halen fan. I like their popular songs but don't know all their music. I have never seen them in concert before. My family went to the concert to really see Eddie Van Halen. He's a master on guitar and wanted to see him. Having David Lee Roth there was a small bonus. The good: Eddie delivered! He's amazing! Show length (about 2 hours) was good. Drum solo was awesome! DLR can still move (impressive). Sound was great. Crowd was great! (I met Jeff Probst - super nice guy.) Venue is nice - very impressed with the amount of toilet stalls!! Someone got that right! Opening band was really good - Kenny Wayne Shepard Band. Overall energy was good. Good to see Wolfgang out there working the bass. The bad: Camera work - focused on DLR too much and not enough close ups on Eddie expect for his guitar solo. DLR - um, he can't sing, or forgot the words, or something like that. But it was the mid-range stuff - he did some of the high notes/screeches. Overall I gave them a 4 just because DLR can't really sing. Am I glad I saw them? YES. Do I need to see them again? No.
As always the Van Halen brothers know how to put on a show. The addition of Eddie's son Wolfgang brought a new dynamic to a very tight band. David Lee Roth is as much if not more of a showman than ever. Very entertaining start to finish. Eddie's guitar solo was the best I have ever seen of the multiple times I have been to their shows.. A definite "must see". Check the setlist below, they play all the hits from the early David Lee Roth era and one recent song"She the Woman".
Hard to believe, but in 2015, The Boys are sounding better than EVER!!!..Second time seeing them on the current US Tour and their sound and performance far exceeds that of their 2012 Tour!...Dave's vocals are probably the best that he has ever sounded live, and I mean even compared to back in 1984 when I first saw them!...Eddie's playing is cleaner and tighter then ever!...Alex's fill is as technically superior and muscular as ever!...Wolfgang's bass gives the band the best bottom anchor that the band has ever had, and his vocals have now matured to the point where there is very little difference now between the background vocals today than back when Michael Anthony was in the group!...The ENERGY, CAMARADERIE, and CHEMISTRY onstage between the band is THE BEST it has ever been!!!...VH is back, and it is a PARTY!!!
It was a great show. David's vocals were right on & Eddie's performance did NOT disappoint = ) He was awesome!! Alex & Wolfie's performances were great as well. I would recommend this show to all Van Halen fans....
First of all, I saw a lot of negative reviews on here before the show, especially about David L Roth, so I wasn't sure what the show would be like. Let me just say that the man is 60 year old, so give him a break! I give him big kudos for getting up there doing what he does. He's still very energetic and is still a heck of a front man and a performer. Does he sound like he did 30 years ago? NO, but do you really expect him to? Hey, we are all getting older. The band sounded awesome, and Eddie & Alex still play to perfection. And, so glad to see Wolfgang up there performing with his Dad - how awesome must that be for him! And for all of you who "can't believe they didn't even perform songs from the Hagar era"........HELLOOOOOO.......this was a concert with David L. Roth, not Hagar - do you really expect DLR to perform Hagar songs? It doesn't work that way!!! Just like Hagar wouldn't perform Roth songs. Get over it! The show was great and I would go see again!
The Van Halen concert was good. My only complaint was from the minute that they came onstage till the time the concert ended, everyone stood up. I had a recent surgery and could not stand the whole time. So, that part sucked for me. There was also people smoking cigarettes all over the place which, so the signs for No Smoking were not enforced.
Great show!! Eddie was in true form! It was nice to see the family jammin together. Wolfgang picked some great tunes never played live before for this tour's setlist. Roth was the usual "ham" of the show.

This show was as close to going back to the early 80's with Van Halen as possible. There was no fluff, just straight music. I've seen them on every tour since DLR reunited with the band and this was by far my favorite tour! They just played and DLR didn't go crazy with the theatrics this time as in the past. I also loved that we could upgrade our seats from the lawn to the front section for only $20 more!!! Really great show!!!!

Hearing "Light Up the Sky" Drop Dead Legs" & "Dirty Movies" was mind blowing! Love hearing these classics for the 1st time live... I hope they decide to record some shows and release it on Blu-ray!!!!

I was very excited to see one of my favorite bands of all time and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Van Halen. David Lee Roth and Eddie favored the other side of the stage and they played a whole bunch of songs I was unfamiliar with--my wife was so bored she ended up looking up the songs on her phone. The stage lighting was poor and they only used the background stage lights during Drop Dead Legs to project a pair of women's legs walking in a stationary postion and the lights were only in one color. The best part of the show was watching the amazing guitar virtuoso Eddie Van Halen crank out his solos--especially during Eruption. When they finally got to the "good stuff" from the 1984 album during the end of the show, DLR forgot the words to "Jump" which is still my favorite song of all time. This was my 6th VH show and it will be my last. FAIR WARNING: See this show at your own risk!

KWS was awesome. We wish Van Halen would have played more of their older "BIG Hits" but the ones they did were good. On a negative side there wasn't any big video screens and Van Halen's sound system seemed substandard.

Good to know Van Halen is alive and well. Eddie brought the goods for and hour and 45 minutes, nonstop. Diamond Dave was Dazzling, the ultimate entertainer. The only downfall was the riverbend sound system on the side of the arena sucked. Unless you sit in the middle or straight ahead you don't get good sound. It's a Shame, the venue is great but they need to greatly improve their sound system. Jmo.

Saw them a few years back at Verizon Center where the accoustics were less than favorable. Wanted to see (and hear) them in a real concert venue. Heard lots of songs from the first four albums, but really disappointed that "Cradle Will Rock" was not played. Also, during the guitar solo, Ed teased the beginning of "Mean Street" - but that song also was not played. Pretty much non-stop except for Roth's seemlingly endless intro into "Ice Cream Man". Dave sounded all right, though and the band sounded great. I think Wolfie may have eaten Michael Anthony, though - he's HUGE.

Have seen Van Halen in the early 90's and again mid to late 90's. This show was the original group (minus Michael Anthony replaced by Wolfgang Van Halen) doing all the original material that made them. From "Everybody wants some!!!" to "And the cradle will Rock" "Dance the Night away", "Beautiful Girls" "Drop Dead Legs", Runnin with the Devil" "Eruption" into "Oh, Pretty Woman" to the best "Hot for Teacher" and finishing with "Jump" and "Panama". I have seen hundreds of concerts this ranks up their with the best of the best. David has lost a bit of his voice, but compensates, but Eddie is playing as good or better than he ever has.

Sorry to all my VH family but Dave at Jones Beach it was not his best show. As we all sing word for word their songs and move to the beat , Dave would go off on a tangent or not even sing the same words. It looked like the band just had to play through his antics. I get it, its DLR, but he was just out of sorts more that night. Eddie was spot on. Every note was perfect, Alex was amazing as always, Wolfgang played his heart out. The VH family itself was tight. But looks like Dave missed a few rehearsals. I've been going to see VH in the NY area since Motley Crue was the warmup band for them. Again sorry for the mediocre review but still worth just being there with a sold out crowd

Where to start? From the back stage tour of Al's drum kit, to being handed a pick after Little Guitars by Eddie himself, to Diamond Dave taking my GoPro during Drop Dead Legs, it literally felt like Van Halen were playing in my backyard party. The band are on point. Tight, polished, and rock solid. Dave is Dave. There is no other front man that comes close. Criticize him all you want for missed high notes, etc, but he IS the show. And he is a rock star who appreciates his fans. Eddie, clean and sober, was unstoppable. Alex provided the thunder from a massive kit perched atop a stunning drum riser, and Wolf filled out the rhythm section with precise bass chops and soaring vocal harmonies. Rarities, like In a Simple Rhyme, Dirty Movies, Drop Dead Legs, and the opening track, Light Up The Sky made this set list the ultimate fan's dream concert. It was well worth waiting for 17 long weeks since I purchased my tickets. Thank you Dave, Eddie, Al, and Wolf for a night to remember for life!

So it's true what I've heard about David Lee Roth - his voice IS shot! It took him a couple of songs to find his voice and he sounded good for a handful of songs, but then he lost his voice again and had to be buried in the mix while the background vocals were pumped up to compensate. Guitar and Drums were awesome, but with lead vocals missing, the show was somewhat disappointing. Kenny Wayne Shepherd was awesome as always!!

I have seen Van Halen in concert on every one of their tours since 1991. I have to say that this tour they are sounding the best they have ever sounded since Dave rejoined the band. Eddie, Wolfgang and Alex are so in tune with each other and are sounding as tight as ever. The best thing for Eddie was for his son to join the band. It has given Eddie more of a reason than ever to stay sober. Eddie looks healthy and happy and his playing has never been better.

EVH is undeniably one of the greatest guitarists that ever lived. He is still that, all these years later. Alex is solid behind the kit as well, and although I will forever be bummed that EVH kicked Michael Anthony out of the band, Wolfie is an OK stand in. Diamond Dave has been known for ages as one of the greatest frontmen in history, and I could still not agree more. Having seen VH many times before with Sammy, once with Gary Cherone and once before with Dave (along with seeing DLR solo 4x), this was an outstanding show on all levels. Eddie, Alex and Wolfie delivered all night, musically. I did not hear backing tapes this time, but the backing vocals were just OK. Wolfie has a little bit of a range on a few songs, but the backing vocals did not detract from the songs at all. That is a main area of complaint for me, though, and a simple fix would be adding Michael Anthony back into the mix. Dave got a bad rap from how he sounds on their recent LIVE album, and I agree-it's not that good vocally at all. From the first song of this show, you get a sense Dave is out to prove he can still sing. And he did for at least 15-17/25 songs. You could tell the voice was giving out the last quarter of the show, but he wasn't rambling or talking, so it still sounded OK. I'm sure the 24 year old writer from Rolling Stone or SPIN begs to differ, but they don't even know who Van Halen is anyway. Dave has never been known as a truly great singer, like a Paul Rodgers or a Freddie Mercury. However, DLR is about as rock and roll as one can get. He brought his A game for sure. I still cannot believe that I was able to purchase 10th row Ticketmaster 4 nights before the show. And...Van Halen VIPs that paid $500+ more were in ROW 9. This particular show was worth every penny and then some.

This show ruled. It was a non-stop party started by Kool & the Gang who were super fun. Such a nice departure to have an opening band that's more about the vibe of the headliner versus the genre. I'm sure on paper, it makes more sense to have another hard rock opener, but I can't think of another band that would have added to the party atmosphere the way Kool & the Gang did. And their musicianship is flawless. Van Halen was great! If the band is unhappy, it doesn't show on stage. They look and sound like they're having a great time. Oh, and Gene Simmons was sitting a few rows behind us. How bitchen is that?

I was looking so forward to seeing Van Halen especially with David Lee, but he was the most disappointing part of the show. His vocals just did not seem very strong that night, he missed a lot of his queues on the songs and he was drowned out by the rest of the band. Speaking of the rest of the band, they were unbelievable, they still sound great, Overall I was disappointed but I still love Van Halen!!!! and I would probably see them again. Be ready to be rocked by the music but don t be too surprised that Diamond Dave has lost some shine.

At 43, I've been a huge fan for years! And have introduced my teen son to them. He's developed a strong liking for a lot of their music as well. We have anticipated this show with much excitement for months now. But sadly, that excitement dwindled after towards the middle of the show. Overall, I walked away extremely disappointed. Of course I didn't expect the same show as the ones back in the good ol' days, but Diamond Dave is very sloppy! Putting in his own lyrics, off beat most times, and in some cases seemed as if he either forgot or skipped over lyrics. The sound mix was just plain nasty...couldn't hear the lyrics very clearly and the drums were drowned out most of the time! Eddie and Alex are still incredible! Both were right on target and as great as ever! The new bass player did his job very well. But I think it's time for Dave to retire for good...or perhaps find a spot on Dancing with the Stars...he still has a few jumps and moves left. I should have saved my 149.00 PER ticket and got the 40.00 nose bleeds instead...NOT WORTH WHAT I PAID.

If you like Van Halen from the Roth era, you will like this concert. I liked the concert. Van Halen excites me because I have been a fan since I saw them with Hagar on the Balance Tour. Fans were cheering and most stood the entire time. Some were dancing. A lot of people were drinking beer from the concession stand. The statdium was about 85% full. I saw a few teens and 20 somethings, but the majority seemed to be at least in their 30s. You can imagine that a crowd that age might be kind of laid back compared to a crowd of people in their early 20s. The crowd was appropriately active for its age. They played 24 songs - all from the Roth albums. Twelve of them were songs that I had never heard on the radio and I understand why, I didn't think the melodies were catchy or memorable. The other 12 were songs/solos any Van Halen fan would recognize. Roth was entertaining. I have seen VH with all lead singers. Roth was no better to me than Hagar. I liked both, but Cherone didn't really fit with Van Halen. We were in Section - 102 , Row - I, Seats 4 and 3. One thing I liked about the arena was the seating. From all seats, you could see the stage without obstruction from the stadium. Seats were on an incline, except the floor, so people standing in front of you didn't block your view. The seats were cushioned and have cup holders. The temperature was comfortable. Good sound system. Kool and the Gang was also good. I recognized all of their songs.

I absolutely loved Kool & the Gang! They sounded just like they did at their peak. They were very entertaining & I wish they could have played longer. Eddie, Alex, & Wolfgang Van Halen were excellent but David Lee Roth was too stoned to perform well. He was vulgar & his voice wasn't good like it used to be. He even admitted to have taken 2 pain pills with tequila. Van Halen played too many new songs also. The highlight of Van Halen was when Eddie did his guitar solos. They need to sober up Roth or get Sammy Haggar back. If it wasn't for Kool & the Gang, I would have really been mad that I paid $60,

It was a dream come true for me, to finally see Eddie Van Halen. 20 years or so late maybe. But that just means I was able to see it with my two boys, Steven who is 18, and Brandon, who is 15. What a thrill. As a family of guitar players, we were grinning ear to ear all night. There were enough crazy folks who took the whole "pre-game" too seriously, that we brought home a couple of stories as a bonus. We won't forget that show. Not ever. David Lee Roth is an awesome front man...he brings it, great vocals, high kicks, splits, the vaudeville schtick, and he can tell a story better than most anyone. A true showman. Wolfie was intense. He HAMMERED that bass all night, and he and Alex kept the band together so polished and tight, vocals and all. That solid core is what gives David and Eddie the ability to do what they do with such style and chemistry. Individually and as a band, they sounded absolutely awesome! Eddie is incredible. He doesn't just rip, he can move you. And his stuff sounds even better live than on recorded tracks. Certain parts of his brain must be grotesquely enlarged to generate all those musical ideas...he is the king, always will be. Others might follow, but there is only one Eddie. Glad they played all the old stuff...so many great songs that bring back so many memories of those days. Can't wait till they come back! Me and the boys will be there.

There are a few things in life which are guaranteed to satisfy your most inner desires. For those of us who grew up in the 80's and even my son, now in college, this show was outstanding. Eddie, Alex and David were amazing and their new album is excellent as well. The show was perfect, minus not playing "Stay Frosty", which I understand they are not playing anywhere - I assume there may be some rights issues. Eddie was spot on, as always, and David slayed Goliath again, this man remains larger than life. It's great to see these gents clean up their lives and perform at the top of anyone's standards, clean! Thanks for an amazing experience, this time shared with my kids. The opening act, Kool and the Gang (KatG) was fantastic! Although Kool didn't sing lead, the band sounded tight. The one thing that would have made their show superb would have been if they had not invited "Prince Hakim" to rap on one of their songs. I thought it took away from a truly wonderful classic song. KatG definitely "got the party started." What can I say about VH that hasn't already been said? My favorite part of the Ed and Dave show was Eddie's solo. What a guitar virtuoso! Although Diamond Dave (DD) talked more than he sang, he sure did put on a show! Wolfie has dramatically improved since the 2007-2008 tour and I'm looking forward to following his career. One thing I really missed were the keyboards; especially on "Jump". What's up with that Eddie? And last but certainly not least, Alex Van Halen was and is amazing on the drums! He doesn't get as much recognition as Eddie but he is without a doubt equally talented. Peace.

I was debating whether or not to go to the show due to the price of the tickets. I thought about it and said how could I pass up Van Halen. I mean I used to have posters of David Lee Roth all over my bedroom back in high school. All I can say that it was the best $160 I spent. Glad I went. It was a Great Night!!!

played most of the old classics and rocked them, played too much new stuff. played a couple old classics and the crowd going then went into the new tunes and got the crowd out of it. there seemed to be an issue with David L. R 's microphone- too soft then too loud. and the volume balance between instruments also seemed off- at times eddies guitar was clear, other times barely audible. Over all a great time but the minor issues showed up enough to remember them.

A big VH fan since the late 70's, enjoyed DLR in the early days and equally Haggar . Hadn't seen them in concert since Diamond Dave left in mid-80's so was looking forward to this reunion tour. The show was definitely worth seeing. Eddie is Eddie, one of if not the best rock guitarist ever. Wolfgang is solid on bass and Alex the same on drums. The only disappointment is DLR. He is not even close to the showman he once was. He rarely sang the words and when he did, he was out of tune. Ice Cream man was embarrassing. The band is still very entertaining thankfully because it's all about the instruments, mainly Eddie on guitar, and the backup singing by Eddie and Wolfgang. All in all, the show was great, just don't expect much from DLR.

EVH is still the best ever! He kills it in so many ways! Dave; however, is another story. His singing days are way behind him, but thankfully the band makes up for his shortcomings. Alex pounds, Wolfgang is really good (although he's still no Mikey), and Eddie shreds! Sound was a little muddy but WTF!

I felt that the band did a awesome job. I was in front row section 112 about 80 feet from the sound engineer and all I can say is perhaps he should have removed his headphones and hear what I heard. I could just barely make out the singing. The music was so loud that it overpowered everything else. Because of this, the fans could just never get into it, which was disappointing. All of that said, I felt Eddies solo guitar rift was totally worth the price of admission. He can still rock!

We saw these guys 4 yrs ago in Michigan and they are still incredible. Ed just gets better with time. His solo's are still mindblowing. Wolfie was impressive. We were surprised at how good his vocals were for his age. They started the concert with Alex doing a drum solo..wow! You can't go wrong with a Van Halen concert!

Van Halen was Awesome! Eddie is a Beast! He did an unbelievable guitar solo that blew the roof off the arena. We were so glad to see David Lee Roth come back. Van Halen should never have become Van Hagar. David was great. Our only complaint was he changed up Beautiful Girl and we want to hear it the way we love it. Our seats were excellent, we had a perfect view of everything. I have to say Kool and the Gang was incredible as well. For some people this may have been a weird combination Van Halen and Kool and the Gang, but I happen to dig that kind of music as well and the were fantastic. The horns were great and they did an awesome job of getting everyone fired up for Van Halen. The Allstate arena had the blowers up to high at first to help keep the place cool and it was really bugging the band. I saw David sneeze like 4 times on stage and he had to get the crowd to help get the techs turn down the air so they could perform better. It warmed up a bit but it was well worth it. These venues need to respect what the artists need. We would definitely go see Van Halen again. But David Lee Roth, not Sammy. We also bought shirts and they look great. They also had a huge screen so everyone could see them no matter what their seats were which we loved.

2 full hours of most of their best from their first 6 albums along with 4 (I think) from their latest. Alex and Eddie were absolutely amazing! DLR was excellent too. Wolfie really has gotten good too. Hope to see them again someday!

Van Halen was absolutely amazing. They had alot of energy, and put on a great show. I would definitely see them again, and reccomend that anyone who is even remotely a fan see them. However who in the hell though Kool & The Gang was a good fit for an opening act? Two totally different genres. It didn't fit, didn't work, and I'm glad I used that time to get drinks, tshirts and use the bathroom. Good think Van Halen alone was worth the price of the ticket.

Edward is still the king of ten fingers and six strings. Alex is still thunderous on drums. Wolfie is so solid on bass and backing vocals he was flawless all night. And Diamond Dave's swagger and humor are in full force as he continues to be the ultimate showman. His voice, while being the most criticized of his many talents, was stellar the first half of the show, showing no signs of fatigue until the end. The high kicks, microphone splits, and even half a dozen leaping 360 overhead spin kicks are still in Dave's arsenal, as are the martial arts displays, acoutic storytelling, and rapid fire one-liners. His newest tricks include a lot of stage sliding and vaudville schtick. If you don't have fun at a Van Halen show, check your pulse, you might be deceased.

Kool & The Gang played very well! Very entertaining! Van Halen, despites Roth's crybaby complaint about the A.C,was so damn incredible!! The entire night was perfect! Allstate Arena should be proud at the hard work that their employees do! CLASS ACT PLACE!
