I'v been playing guitar for over 40 years now and I can easily say that Frank Marino is "the quintessential" guitar player of all time! The way that he has mastered all the different techniques and styles of playing boggles the mind! We as fans, are eagerly awaiting the release of his first live DVD and highly recommend anyone to give it a shot, #no matter your age#! I met Frank at the Rock and Roll Marathon concert back in 1981 and we've been friends ever since... He's that kind of guy, a real genuine soul who always seems to make time for his friends and fans! The first time seeing Mahogany Rush was at the Hollywood Sportatorium back in '74 or '75 playing with Aerosmith. Aerosmith was good, but, Mahogany Rush killed it!!! Fast foward to today, I can't wait for Frank to go out again. Last time I had to go to New York to see him but, it was worth it! Pack a lunch if you intend on going 'cause he plays for hours and you get such a huge selection from his diverse library of tunes. Hey, Rock and Roll Hall of Shame, It's about time!!! Frank Marino should not just be mentioned but, should be at the very top of those greatest guitar players of all time lists, #it sickens me some of these lists they come up with#!!! Go see him live, you won;t regret it...

On Friday night,November 5th,2010,I saw Frank Marino and his band Mahogany Rush perform an Amazing set of songs! He started out with cover tunes,Voo-doo chile & Red House, mixed in with his excellent original songs with on the spot on creative Phsychedelic sound, and improvision, seamlessly changing and morphing into and out of various songs,.in a way that only Frank Marino can play,he is a second to None muscian/ performer!!! The performance was about 2 hours and 40 minutes long, and it went by too fast for me,because it was so good!!! Time really does fly by when you`re having a good time!!! I recommend that you see Frank and his band perform live,it is an incredible experience!!!

The Birchmere is an awsome venue to see your favorite band. Every seat in the house is excellent! The staff is great and the service is just as good. Now for the show that Frank Marino put on... He has not lost a lick since I saw him in 1979. 2 hours and 45 minutes of non stop music. He didn't waist time talking a lot, just flat out LOUD Rock & Roll. GREAT SHOW!

I have been listening to Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush since 1975 when I heard "Child of the Novelty " album and fell in love with his playing and have followed him for years after. He disapeared for a while to start a family but came back in top form.I was telling my son some of the differant ways that he plays and he said he would love to see him play, and three days later I found out from a friend that he was playing Showcase live in Foxboro,MA.I love going to shows there because if you get there early you get to sit at stage front, and that is where we sat.Our hearing came back later the next day,he played very loud but not any distortion and he played like I had told him, blew him away as well.I saw him open for Ted Nugent about 30 years ago and he was called back 3 times to play some more.I consider him to be one of the top guitar players in the world, without a doubt.

Simply the best I have ever witnessed. I saw Frank & Mahogany Rush as a young man and thought then that he was special. After so many years, and some wiser, he's the best bar none! Mesmerizing to watch, and glorious to hear. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

i have seen frank a few times over the years & he NEVER fails to impress.this time i wasnt so sure his streak would continue as in the past. that being said, the type of show that i saw in the beginning had me wondering a little if i made a good move buying tickets this time.there was a lot of starting & stopping of music & there was some grumbling amongst the fans(lets face it:once frank starts to play you hate to have him stop) but i understood the reasons for it.he was trying to get everything just right for the recording.i just wasnt sure if that type of show was going to be going on all night.although,i did feel like i was a special guest during a recording session.that part was unique.but he came through in the end.especially with his last two sets.they were vintage frank marino.AWESOME AS USUAL! thanks frank.i'll be back

Folks, this was an amazing display of Guitar Work. Frank Marino is one of the GREATEST GUITAR MASTERS of ALL TIME. Frank showed everyone all weekend why he is reguarded as a GUITAR GOD. He filmed the all weekend event for a DVD that will be released in 2011. On Saturday he played THREE SETS of Molten Lava that left the audience completely exhausted. Frank Marino is an ANIMAL. Special Thanks has to go out to Steve Neal of the World Famous Cleveland Agora, for making the FIRST FILMING of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush for a DVD Project in his 42 Year Career, a wonderful experience. The fans and everyone involved put their best face forward and pulled, this marathon Playing and Filming Project Off; without a hitch. I would also like to thank Denyse Marino and the rest of Frank's Family for their contribution. God Bless and save your money for the DVD when it is released .......... IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY !!! CLEVELAND ROCKS!

He played for 3 hours straight!!! You don't see that anymore, he loves to play cover songs, he does Hendrix better than anyone alive, last time I saw him was at the Boston Garden in 1979! He needs to play Boston/New England area more. He closed out with my favorite, "Electric Reflections of War", it was incredible, he makes the sound of missiles firing off and bombs exploding with his guitar, with a movie in the background of World War 2, and Vietnam, it puts your heart in your throat! I wished he could have played Purple Haze, no one does it better, the plays with his teeth, like Jimmi did. P.S.-Frank, Please, never retire, you an unsung hero of the classic rock guitar world, and you should be in the Rock N Roll hall of fame, he played that song by the way. Peace- Paul from Boston.

No guitarist in this world compares to Frank Marino. It's a crime he's not a bigger act in this world. 2 and a half hours of just incredible shredding from the closest guitarist in this world to Jimi Hendrix.Yet when I mention his name-I get blank stares or dumbfounded expressions from people "in the know". This was my 9th time seeing Frank and he has yet to ever disappoint me.

Been waiting 30 years to see Frank Marino - live in concert. Brought back so many early teenage memories of the good old younger days. Great venue, intimate setting, up close and personal. 2 1/2 hour show. So glad we got there on time. Almost missed the show getting stuck in traffic (we have a 3+ hour drive). Decided at the last minute to get out of traffic and take the Amtrak. We were in our seats at 7:50pm. Thank you Amtrak!

Frank Marino is amazing, my only complaint was with BB King theater, Why were there so many tables and chairs! Not enough Standing room!! I went alone and didnt want to sit at a table, this kind of show should have more room for people to stand. But the Show itself was Great, I would go again and again.

A true guitar technician! He still seems to amaze and shock the crowed of,I'm sure, loyalists. The first time I saw Mr. Marino was in Cleveland 1978(now realizing I'm showing my age), his playing prowess was amazing then only to mature into one the finest guitarist of our age. If there was a "legend"guitarist smack down,Frank Marino is finishing number 1 and will continue to reign supreme. Happy to be part of such a fine performance. Don't wait so long to return to the New York area.

It is a shame that Frank Marino is not Famous wolrd wide, there is something wrong with the record industry to not elevate this man, for the world to discover. This man can play the guitar flawless w/o mistakes with soul, speed and excellent technique . This was the first time I've seen him live, I was not bored for one second. He is amazing, he is so focused and tireless, one of the best shows I've ever seen, excellent, excellent show.

This was a show I have waited almost 30 years to see again. I missed him in 2008 at Harper's Ferry (not by choice). But now I can die a very happy man! He hasn't lost a thing. You very RARELY see anyone play for 3 hrs. non stop. Frank's only break came during the drum solo (also excellent) and even then he stood in the back watching that. I will never understand how so many people have never heard of him. Frank is the best unknown guitar player in the world. If I don't die happy between now and the next time they come around, I will be first in line for tickets. Plus Frank loves the Bruins. What a guy!

WAITING 30 YEARS TO SEE FRANK WAS FINALLY REWARDED WITH HIS APPEARANCE AT THIS VENUE.THAT BEING SAID,I WAS LEFT FEELING LIKE FRANK COULD HAVE PLAYED A LARGER PLAYLIST FROM HIS BODY OF WORK INSTEAD OF THE LONG RANGING NUMBERS THAT WERE BLENDED WITH OTHER NON MAHOGANY RUSH TUNES.THERE WAS NO "TALKIN BOUT A FEELIN" OR "TALES OF THE SPANISH WARRIOR" AND THOUGH "DRAGONFLY" AND "STRANGE UNIVERSE" WERE PART OF THE PLAYLIST "POPPY" WAS SOME HYBRID AMALGAM THAT I THINK TOOK SOMETHING FROM THAT TUNE INSTEAD OF MAKING IT BETTER.POPPY IS A GREAT ARRANGEMENT!! NO MATTER.....FRANK MARINO IS NOW AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST TALENTED ROCK GUITARISTS OF MY GENERATION,HIS PLAYING IS NUANCED AND MELODIC WHILE STILL HAVING THE ABILITY TO RIP THESE AMAZING SOLO'S AND SWITCHES WITHIN THE SONGS.IF FRANK COMES HERE AGAIN I WILL DEFINITELY GO SEE HIM,BY THE WAY HIS DRUMMER DAVE GOOD IS DAMN GOOD!

The legendary Frank Marino and his band Mahogany Rush were incredible. I have seen great rock and rollers in concert and I have seen fantastic performances. But, I have never witnessed a performance as incredible as was on display Nov. 2nd. Frank Marino outdid them all. I have never witnessed a performance of this magnitude. He must be in consideration when talking about the top rock guitarists of all time. I remember, in the late 70s, Frank being compared to Jimi Hendrix. After hearing him and seeing him Tuesday night, I truly understand why. He played for just shy of three straight hours, with awe-inspiring ability. The energy he poured into his performance was so amazing. As if the show wasn't already great enough, he closed with his own version of Amazing Grace. Truly an unbelievable night of music by a living legend.

Frank is clearly a virtuoso. The first TWO HOURS were amazing. Then it turned into a 50 minute Jesus revival, it got to be too much for even the hard core fans who started to leave. Then, no encore, what's up with that? Still worth the money, always love the Birchmere.
