Puscifer

PUSCIFER is an exploit that could only come from the mind of Maynard James Keenan.PUSCIFER’s latest album ‘Conditions of My Parole’ was recorded amidst the wine barrels at Maynard’s Caduceus Cellars. It was the culmination of a three year period that introduced PUSCIFER to music fans and challenged the concept of what a band can be. Kerrang! exclaimed “whereas Puscifer's early output exercised his funny bone, the rather brilliant Conditions Of My Parole exorcises it”A PUSCIFER live show leads their audience through laughter, tears and reflective enlightenment throughout one night’s performance.

Maynard is on top of his game. Catch one of these shows before they become as popular as Tool. I've seen Tool 3 times, and this was up there with them. Maynard is much more involved in the show than with Tool. The stage setup was awesome. They had a wrestling ring onstage, and masked Mexican style wrestlers putting on a show. The drummer was front and center, which I've never seen before. I liked that. The sound was amazing. As perfect as one could expect from a live show. Infectious grooves galore, you can dance to this music. But it also incorporates plenty of rock music. The visuals were incredibly trippy and humorous. I purchased one of the VIP packages, and it was totally worth it to have that experience seeing one of my favorite artists.

The wrestling act, Luchafer, and the band did their part but the crowd just kind of sat there like they were supposed to stay seated. I went to the show in Indy and you could feel the electric from both the music and the crowd. I didn't really get that from this show. They played the songs from their new album "Money Shot" with a few from their older albums like Toma, Man Overboard, Telling Ghosts, Horizon and Conditions of My Parol to name a few. Carina was absolutely amazing during Rev 22/20. A must hear. They played Autumn as a tribute to the passing of a friend at the end. I'm already looking forward to their next tour.

We had a long drive down there, we had to stand in the cold to make sure we got in the front , but it was all worth it when we got inside, and I can't wait to do it again. My gf is now a fan of Pucifer, which is great.

In comparison to Tool, which is analogous to a tempestuous spiritual event, the show is far more intellectual and contemplative. So, if you came to rage, don't get bent out of shape, rejecting the moment as it is. The professionalism is at the pinnacle of the industry, and Carina Round is the devil's angel. Prepare to be mesmerized and likely reprogramed. Puscifer is an elaborate journey into Maynard's misfit subconscious of twisted humor and dark recognitions. Enter at your own risk!

Carina Round opened with her solo performance. She is amazing. This is the first show I've been to in years where I enjoyed the opening act as much as the headliner. She then came back out to perform with Puscifer, which I expected, as she does a lot of work on their albums. Essentially doing a double-set, she performed outstandingly well and if she was exhausted, she never showed it. To my knowledge, this is the first time Puscifer has come to St. Louis. I had been waiting since the release of their first album to see them live, and they did not disappoint. The Peabody Opera House was a perfect venue for this band. Their show was laid back and relaxed, intentionally. They did an outstanding job of making the audience feel like part of the show. The set was even setup by the musicians themselves. They did an excellent job of making the show feel like everyone was just sitting around a campfire enjoying several bottles of wine.

Puscifer is generally very creative and they certainly did not disappoint with this show. The band seemed to be enjoying themselves and were not taking themselves too seriously. The pre-show "skit" was fun for a bit, but went on a little long ... we were there to listen to music, not watch WWE. Maynard always wants everyone to stand for his entire show. That would be fine if I could move around or dance a bit, but when we are packed in like sardines, 2 1/2 hours of standing in one spot becomes tiresome.

Didn't know what to expect. Wasn't familiar with much Puscifer music. Not a huge TOOL fan but like a Perfect Circle well enough. This show was highly entertaining and unexpected. It was a combination of great music and theatre. Performance art isn't the right description, but close. The combination of high energy and comedy was awesome. Bottom line, if Maynard James Keenan comes to your town, you should probably go see him.

I saw Tool a couple months back too. I just feel like the music that has been created by Maynard et al is so good on album, but it hardly ever translates to a good experience live. Puscifer was much, much better live than Tool. In fact, I hated Tool live. However, I still don't think I would ever go to another Puscifer concert. It was mediocre. It felt a little uninspired. The setlist was poor. There is a lot to be said for bands that can go play live every night and each setlist is completely unique and they work hard to make it feel as if you are the only thing on their minds. Puscifer felt a little canned. I would tell a fan to see them at least once just to say they've done it. Then, you can save your money on all subsequent Puscifer concerts.

Although I love the music the whole show was weird to say the least. I thought I was buying tickets to a concert, but instead it was a wrestling match with a concert thrown in. The whole show was revolved around the wrestling and it made me think someone was on drugs. There's no other explanation as to why someone would do such off the wall actions other than they had to be messed up. I love Maynard, but from now on I'll just stick to listening to him on my phone.

Do not miss this show. If you're on the fence, do it. The sonics and visuals of this show are outstanding. The dual vocals between Maynard and Carina... outstanding. The harmonies and musicianship by the band (featuring folks from Ministry and A Perfect Circle)... outstanding. This was the best show, completely different than the other two tours I've seen previously. These shows are packed full of details and I was able to retain crucial key points: "don't be a dummy." I did learn how to drive my Lotus better, and safer. I feel like I'm a better person having just been to the show. My iq went from Mensa to mrdd, but backwards. After the show, I had to fly to Pittsburgh to see the show again, after I'd already seen it in Prescott during a snowstorm. Now, I'll go to Detroit tonight, but ima bring my own water. Similar to the first time that I heard Puscifer, I listened to the entire album a few times to figure out just what the hell it is. Money Shot is as good as any other of their releases - each is ear candy and has the creativity and musicianship that stands out from most of what is coming out these days. No one my age should get as excited as I do when I hear that one of the bands that I like is releasing a new album. Puscifer is one of the very few bands that creates that excitement. Now for the show. I saw these guys at Ovens in Charlotte during the Conditions... tour and loved the show. I bought tickets for this show the day they were released and would go back and see it again if I was lucky enough to be close to one of the other dates. The stage show was typical Puscifer - entertaining and a bit odd. The music, the talent, the song choices - all top notch. While the entire band is built on great musicians, Jeff Friedl has become one of my favorite drummers out there. He is impeccable and was a focal point on each of the last couple of tours. His set was front and center for this show. Paul Barker, Mat Mitchell, and Juliette were also great and the partnership of Maynard and Carina on vocals truly sets this group apart. While the new album is great, I would have loved to hear more of the old stuff. Anything more from "V", "C", or "Confitions.." Would be great. They could be on stage for 4 hours and there would be no throw-away songs. I am very happy that I was introduced to this band and will buy anything that they release and will see them live for a truly entertaining show anytime I have the opportunity.

Carina Round w/a couple of backing musicians opening up the show was the perfect start to would be an incredible show from beginning to end. Even sick, she sang wonderfully and hearing a few things off the forthcoming album has made me want to pre-order it. From there, Carina left the stage and a screen came down to show a hilarious "tour documentary" featuring Maynard's hillbilly character. It was entertaining and offered some back-story into this little twisted redneck theme we see popping up here and there with Puscifer. When the actual Puscifer show started, it wasn't a curtain being pulled back or some huge kick drum rocking the place - it was, instead, Maynard pulling and Airstream trailer behind him. He parked it and went into an insightful monologue and then the show started. Each song sounded great, getting better and better as the night went on. Some were enhanced live just by the energy and some were re-arranged into almost unrecognizable versions that were intriguing and ROCKED. Puscifer interacted with the crowd, drank wine, and offered a laid back atmosphere in between powering through songs. An encore of Tumbleweed was a perfect way to end the night.

Maynard is the man! I'm a Maynard fanatic, seen him w tool and apc at least 15 times but the first for puscifer, I was blown away. If you've ever went to a tool or apc show and always left wanting more Maynard then this is what you've been looking for. Maynard always make sure the fans get their moneys worth. It was electric, he gave a nice little speech about human sustainability which I was so star struck and awe I didn't really pay that close attention (regret). He proceded to play all of the songs off "conditions of my parol" and a majority off "v". Carina Round was amazing. Maynard danced like a god. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Oh yeah, they're serious abt no phones out! Saw two people kicked out just for having them out. Don't mess around.

What can I say - This was absolutely the best concert I've ever been to. I'm a huge fan of Maynard, and have been to concerts with both "Tool" and "A Perfect Circle". As Puscifer is not well known, they played a very small show, and even with that - it wasn't sold out. As a result, every seat in the house was probably spectacular - though I was only 7 rows back... The music was outstanding, intertwined with comedy. The show was kept with a "low budget" look, but with a "high budget" sound. it's obvious that this band wasn't put together to make money, but merely to have some fun. Even though everyone had their own seat in this small theatre, few people even sat down. I stood with my date the whole show...the vibe was of a quiet club, I danced through the whole show.

I love these guys. I have followed them for years now and this was the second show I saw on their Money Shot tour. Paid big $$ for the VIP tickets and sat very close to the stage. Unfortunately the sound in this place was horrible, the mics were having problems the whole time, you could see Carina trying very hard to be discreet and yet tell the techs to adjust the sound levels for everyone performing. After seeing them in Grand Rapids and having that be probably the best concert experience I have ever had, this place was a huge bummer. Ill never miss an opportunity to see them live but Ill never fly to Tuscon for a concert again.

Being a big MJK fan I have seen Tool and A Perfect Circle a few times, this was my first time seeing his pet project, Puscifer, and it did not disappoint. The show was fantastic from top to bottom, a crazy mix of Luca Libre wrestling, rock concert, staged performances and audio and visual insanity. Luchafer is a Lucha Libre act having a wrestling match to warm up the crowd. While the crowd was interested for most of the time, a little spice would have helped. When the fifth member came in with the drinks and Queen B played, the crowd woke up a little. When it came time for Puscifer to take the stage things were great. While they don't move around during the performance, Conditions of my Parole aside, the visuals projected behind them and the slight but well timed movements made up for it. The members of Luchafer also came out and had staged fights that even involved the band from time to time, it was well needed. Overall, I would see Pusicfer again in a heartbeat. That show was one of the best I have ever seen.

If you're a fan of James Maynard Keenan, wrestling, or great music...or even all three, go see Puscifer! This is one of the best shows I've ever been to and I've seen Tool twice, Primus and The Chocolate Factory, and recently Fear Factory. Puscifer had a great stage show and great music that was authentic and played together as one cohesive unit. My friend, who attended with me and is a musician himself, noted that they were on time and playing in sync the whole show, which was a 2 hour set by themselves with only a few breaks between acts (there were 4 of them total) for Luchafer to do some wrestling for a few minutes each time. It looks like Maynard is happy playing with this group of characters, which is an impressive set. You have Paul Barker from Ministry (the one that helped form their sound back in the day), the drummer from A Perfect Circle, and Carina Round (who is an impressive singer and Maynard even calls her his "co-singer"). The other two musicians, the guitarist and Mahsa Zargaran, are very good at what they do. It is 2.5 hours of entertainment and it is worth the money to go check it out. Only complaint is that there isn't a whole lot of heavy songs in their set right now, minus "Money Shot" and one more song, but they may decide to head down that route in the future. Go see Puscifer when the opportunity presents itself, you will not be disappointed.

This was my first time seeing Puscifer in concert and they did not disappoint. Watching the Lucha libre wrestling match was hilarious and a very unqiue way to start off a concert. I would definitely like to see them again and I hope they come this way again soon!

I was a bit apprehensive about spending the money for the VIP tickets expecting just a few knick knacks and decent seats. Aside from all of the autographed items, shirt, luchador mask etc, the show itself was worth more than I paid. The most amazing show I've ever seen. Not just music but an entire event. It perhaps has ruined all other events to come. Quite an impressive display for it to be all independent. If you have the opportunity to go don't pass to see artists of this caliber perform with such a devotion to something.

First time seeing Puscifer. The band is an amalgamation of so much talent from various backgrounds. Hard to encompass the amount of amazing I witnessed. All the members are established but play with the verve you'd find in a starving artist. Beautiful. Raw. Pushing. Emotional. Open. Engaging. Best show I've ever seen. Really hoping they put out another live DVD.

This was a multimedia experience one has to see! It was 1/3 perfected light and sound concert explosion, 1/3 performance art cheesiness, and 1/3 Lucha Libre!!! What could go wrong?

If I had a genie in a bottle offering me a few wishes, seeing Puscifer live again would probably be one of them. They are that good live that they would make it on my list of last-day-of-life wishes. Goodbye and thank you Puscifer, you have been an encouter like noone else in my life.

If you are a fan of puscifer, tool, or a perfect circle I would definitely make it a priority to see one of MJK's shows live. The opening act was a Luchador wrestling match and they were engaged in the entire performance which was simply awesome. I was a little nervous that they wouldn't be in top form for such a small venue, but Keenan, Round, and everyone seemed very into their performance and it was worth every cent. See them if you can it is well worth it, best band on the planet right now imo.

Original, creative, atypical and totally outstanding. The sound, the performance, the harmonizing vocals were captivating. It's such a relief and a joy to experience outstanding music when there is so much crap out there. I loved it so much that I bought a ticket for the next night's show as well!

What a great show. I didn't think Puscifer could top their last tour but creative genius Maynard never stops reinventing himself or his music and keeps getting better each time. I would have never thought that incorporating a pro wrestling ring and 5 unbelievably talented athletic wrestlers into a Puscifer concert could be so entertaining but it was non-stop entertainment. Maynard and Carina's voices blend so well and they both were in top form. The addition of the keyboard player enhanced the sound and her voice was also a perfect fit singing back up and harmonies.

This was my third time seeing Puscifer and the show is still amazing. I love how they perform in beautiful theaters with comfortable seating (even though everyone ends up standing anyway). It was nice to finally see a more comical tour. It's an experience every Maynard fan should have at some point. You are guaranteed to see some serious talent while he puts forth every effort not to be in the spotlight. It's refreshing to see a band break the typical set-up and actually showcase everyone involved. The music is, of course, fantastic and all the more intense live. I am a little sad that the VIP package has gone up so much in price, but it was expected. They are an independent label and it's worth being front and center for at least one show. I feel I should also mention the band members who do venture out after the show are very friendly. Somehow I always bump into Carina on my way out. If you haven't seen them, you're missing out.

The themes and messages were potent. Including the Mexican wrestling, performer's outfits, and hair, this was a visually and musically metaphorically rich evening. Messages in the songs were visually presented with theatrical genius. The entire band is loaded with talent, but Carina added so much depth and richness to the music and the show that I have to admit she stole my attention. Her voice, guitar skills, dance moves, hair... Heartthrob. My kinda feminist. Amazing artist. Blah, blah, blah. Great job Maynard adding her. My first MJK show was when Tool warmed up the audience for Rage Against The Machine in London, 1993. Been a decent fan since. The Puscifer project resonates with me way more than Tool does, I'm a pretty chipper guy. The messages from Puscifer.

I have seen Puscifer 5 times, 3 times on this tour. And they never disappoint. You should always expect the unexpected with this ensemble. From the opening and intermission entertainment, to the set up of the stage, and the general dynamic of the band, it's a not miss the fact that their music can't really be categorized into a specific genre is intriguing enough on its own. But you get to pair that with flawless music and intoxicating lyrics. Truly unforgettable!! Finally the voices of Maynard and Carina coupled with their complimentary vibes is the biggest bonus. Go see this show!!!!

Not too many people can move energy around in a show in such a fashion as they do. If only I can see them again and again and again each and every week, will I find something else to maybe do one day as I journey through the timeless classics of all of Maynards madness unable to get out of my own way unless I really want to.
