Robert Moody was wonderful! Orchestra, choir, dancers & MSU band were all great & Moody brought the audience together with the meaning of the season! Best symphony Christmas program in years!

1 Orchestra medley of Elvis songs AWSOME 2 Conductors reading of Elvis as a philosopher. Great entertainer. Philosopher Not. Waste of time. UNSATISFACTORY 3 Bringing person out of audience to conduct. A total waste of entertainment time. Totally amateurish. Waist of my time. Was not funny. UNSATISFACTORY 4 Impersonator had great voice but did not sing hardly any of Elvis' big hits. He talked too much about nothing, chit chat about friends in audience, I could care less, Wasted a lot of time when he could have regaled his audience. Vocalist trying to be cute or funny. UNSATISFACTORY. 5 Not worth my $44, Said he was coming back next year, UNBELIEVABLE.

Desperately sad. Very good faux Rolling Stones. Great orchestra. Unfortunately they missed an amazing opportunity as the sound mix was totally wrong. Unable to hear the orchestra at all so would not have noticed if they were there or not. Shame that they did not put more thought and effort as it could have been great, but wasn't!

While the musicians and choirs, baritone and tenor were all very talented... the selection of Britten's War Requiem was the most depressing and boring piece of work I've ever heard in my 50+ years of appreciation of a wide variety of symphony works. Britten should recall all copies and cease writing if he cannot improve 90% on this terrible piece.

At 1.5hrs long, the War Requiem is a marathon, and Britten's search for a new musical language in the wake of the World Wars can be challenging. But at its best--I'm thinking of the 'Sanctus'--this piece rises to the level of a religious experience. Kudos to the Memphis Symphony and Rhodes College Singers for not rushing through it, and for some beautifully varied dynamics.
