Alabama

With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history,  which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle).

This was my first time to see the group ALABAMA live. This ranks in the Top 5 concerts that I have attended. This was a benefit concert for the Tuscaloosa, AL area for the April 27, 2011 tornado.

Have only seen this group about 352 times and that doesn't count the outdoor shows like when they played for the polo club in Daphne or any of the June Jams, or up at the State Park in Birmingham! Have never seen a bad show. One of the saddest shows was the Bama Rising show and that was because it was the first without Mark Herndon. Of course, the 3 other guys were GREAT!! Long after the new groups have come and gone, AlabamA could continue to draw mega crowds if they wanted to continue in the industry. RANDY, JEFF, TEDDY! We are ready to party and wish you would start everything all over again. We aren't getting older....we are just getting more mellow and finer--like wine! You know there of some of us like Dennie, Nikki, Kim, Nina, and Kris and Debbie that would love to be back on the road following you from concert to concert!!!

First time at the Ozark Ampitheater. It is layed out great. It would be great to have water/beer vendors working the isles instead of the confusing madhouse and long waits at the main concession area. Overall, it was a great concert.

Alabama was the 31st concert I have attended. By far the best. No gimmicks, fancy light shows, no dancing around. Just good old fashioned singing. They don't have a song I don't like! After 49 years of singing together you don't want to miss there show!

The relentless pursuit of father time is evident on their bodies and faces, but their voices and souls are ageless. Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry still harmonize like no other and can still hit the notes unlike so many groups from my youth. Amazing concert @Alabama. Not often one gets to see TWO great bands on the same night but that's what we got. Charlie Daniels opened & they still have what it takes! They engage us in the Audi & played some of their best hits. Then Alabama comes out & does the same thing! Engaging the audience, bringing them into the music, some jokes, &a a couple new songs.

First, Alabama still sounds just as good as they did back in the day. I will always love their music. Last time I saw them Randy was recovering from falling off a stage and could barely move so I was really looking forward to seeing them this time. Everything was good at first, they had the audience singing with them and again, and again, and again. After the third time I was getting annoyed because they are basically wasting time they could be singing other hits. I mean, they have 44 #1 hits so please don't waste the money I spent listening to other concert goers singing! I came to hear Alabama. It's fun once or twice, but then move on and sing more songs. And I'm sorry, but Randy is just a bit goofy in how he acts on stage. Definitely not trying to be hip for the younger generation. I just wanted to tell him to stop. He was trying too hard to get the crowd excited when just singing would have been awesome! It really was a turn off to sit through all that. I don't know if he underestimates their music and ability to make us happy or what. Also, the Charlie Daniels Band open for them, which they were good, but again they wasted more time jamming out with older sounding music (I'm in my mid-40's) and I was quickly bored. I'm sure Charlie Daniels had plenty of songs they could have played as well, but instead they were trying to eat up time. My husband was very disappointed because they didn't sing "Long Haired Country Boy." If playing concerts have gotten that difficult for them, which I fully realize they are getting older and deserve to slow down some, then lower the prices so we don't pay as much for the nonsense stuff.

"The Boys" nailed it! Great show, fantastic list of songs, and a solid 2 hour long concert filled with familiar hits and new releases. This was a really good show. I saw them back in 1990 where they played a lot of songs from their own to gospel and southern rock. They were the headliners then, played for two hours, had a first encore that lasted an hour and a second encore that lasted 45 min. I didn't expect that 26 years later, but the guys sung really well and really included the audience in most of their songs. It was definitely a night of audience participation. A good mix of their hits and songs from their new album. I know that it was difficult to try and get 43 #1 hits during the show, but less than 20 including the encore was a bit of a disappointment, so that is why I only gave it 3 stars.

What a great concert! My husband and I took our daughter and son in law and we sang our hearts out to the beautiful music of Alabama! (Not so much that it disturbed others). We had perfect seats and had the best time. All my kids and grandkids are and have grown up on the sounds of Alabama; they have not changed one but...aged to beauty! The singer that came on before them was fantastic also; I did hear her this past weekend also on Surius Radio; she has a wonderful voice! (So sorry, can't remember her name right now. 15 songs in an hour and a half. Randy Owen, still jumping and dancing around on stage. Jeff Cook still rockin' on his guitar. Teddy Gentry has added reading glasses, but still strumming his bass guitar! Nice seeing the old guys, back together one more time. I have seen them twice before this one. You have to have a lot of respect for the performer that enjoys performing as much as the audience enjoys watching them perform!! Big fan of Alabama, would always see them when I have a chance. The Golden Nugget made for a great venue to watch one of the best bands in music Alabama. The sound/lighting in the ballroom was extraordinary. The staff were very friendly when helping us find our seats. Everything about this show was truly amazing. My favorite two moments was both the opening and closing acts. The opening act was amazing when Alabama played "If your Gonna Play in Texas You've Gotta Gave A Fiddle in the Band," in which the fans were asked who was from Texas/Louisiana. It was interesting to see how many fans were from each state. The closing was very awesome when Alabama stormed back on the stage and played one last song. Our seats were very close to the stage, although not exactly in the center. In fact, using just my iPhone I was able to take several clear photos from my seat without any problem. The only bad thing about our seats was the fact that a very large guy with a big cowboy hat sat right in front of us blocking our view (if the casino could, I wish that they would forbid all large hats in the ballroom). In order to see the stage, we had to look to the left/right depending on which seat we were in (15-17). The lighting/sound from our seats was extraordinary.

Montgomery Gentry opened the show and it was a great start. But there's no other band like Alabama. The nostalgia of knowing every word to every song and they still put on a class act show. They gave pit passes to those in the first five rows so I was right down front! Loved every minute of it.

Let's face it-Alabama does NOT disappoint. They still have more energy than a lot of guys half their age that play half as long. The venue had great acoustics and was just the right size-not a bad seat in the house. I will say parking is not the best-it's red clay/gravel with lots of slopes. If it rains any amount it would be terrible trying to get out of there-very easy to get stuck.

We are so happy to have seen Alabama perform live after many years of being a fan. Their voices were as strong and clear as their studio recorded music. True musicians. We had a wonderful evening and enjoyed every minute of the show. The song Feels So Right has special meaning as this was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding reception and we were so excited to hear it live! Definitely a performance to see.

Alabama put on an evening of their hits that was most enjoyable and memorable. They still rock. And entertain at the highest level. Montgomery Gentry was a great opening act and got the fans engaged

Besides having the venue changed, the concert was great. Seeing Alabama for the first time, never got to see them in their younger years but that didn't matter. They played a lot of their #1 hit songs and it was like it just came out yesterday. The band was entertaining and had some of their finer moments while telling us stories of the old days. Would recommend to check them out.
