The US Open is a great event and the changes being made will be fantastic. However, there are aspects which are frustrating. 'Have a nice day 'is the first thing staff say but then won't give a plastic top for a beer ? The practice court development is great but needs some better organisation and flexibility of approach especially when big names like Federer etc. are there. Overall the event is super but there is a significant degree of 'jobsworth' by some which takes the edge off things.

Too crowded-ruins the event for true tennis fans-this has become one more overcrowded NYC social event to announce the end of summer.

Buy the $5.00 program for its valuable content- fillable draw list for men's and women singles matches, locations of play for major players, article on prize money, map of grounds, and information on all the freebies and interactive games throughout the park. The grey goose vodka US Open drink was refreshing and came with an acrylic souvenir glass with the names of all previous men's and women's singles winners that I reused as a water bottle throughout the rest of the day. Glad to have an assigned seat at Arthur Ashe stadium. Was in the shade throughout the day session which was lucky (the umpire chair side near the center, middle has plenty of shade). Take a small shoulder bag to hold your freebies(cookies, K-cups, ESPN radio, luggage tag, handouts, and free photos of yourself provided by many vendors).

My wife and I attended the US Open on Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. We took the LIRR. The ride from Bayside was approximately 10 minutes. It took us about another ten minutes to get through the check point. As we arrived several vendors were giving away free items. We were amazed at the size and the beauty of the place. The whole day was awesome. The tickets were purchased got through Ticketmaster (Coupons) at a great price. Our seats were high up in Arthur Ashe Stadium but we could see the matches quite well. Overall we had a great time and will be going back next year. I recommend this event to everyone.

Went to the US Open on Labor Day. I was there before gates open so I got on the grounds at approx 09:30 AM. I immediately headed to the practice courts and got to see Serena and Venus Williams practice right next to each other. Grandstand is set up on practice courts for watching and it is open seating. I got some neat pictures of both of them which was really cool. I had seats in Ashe Stadium (upper deck) right behind one of the baseline and the view was very good but high up due to the large stadium. The new roof that is not yet completed actually provided some shade for me which was nice because it was sunny and in the mid 80's. I saw three matches on Arthur Ashe stadium, two women's 4th round matches and one men's fourth round match. I saw some good quality tennis and some highly ranked players like Victoria Azarenka and Stan Warwinka. Buying tickets for Ashe Stadium also lets you go to matches on other courts. I could not get into Armstrong Stadium after the three matches I saw but went to the grandstand courts and watch some young juniors play for awhile which was pretty neat. There are plenty of places for food/beverage and buying souvenirs. I would recommend buying the program which is $20 but very high quality and worth the price. People working the US Open are very friendly and willing to help you with any questions you may have about the tournament. Finally, this is a great event and well worth the money for tennis fans.

Because you have to get your tickets long before the draws are made, or even the daily schedule, how much fun you have at the USOpen can be simply a matter of luck. If you are a tennis fan and you go during the first rounds of play, a grounds ticket is often sufficient as there are almost always great matches in Louis Armstrong and on the other courts that the ground pass give you access to. If you go that route be prepared to get there early and in your seats as the lines get long as the day gets going and the seats for ground passes are first come, first serve. The the old Amstrong stadium was great because you could really get some seats close to the action if you were patient enough and you could also watch matches from the Grandstand without going into that stadium, but that will all change with the new statium. If you go later in the tournament, then it might be worth shelling out a little more for the Ash tickets even if the cheaper ones tend to be high, high, high up in the stadium (quite a workout to get there btw). You have an assigned ticket, so you can get up and move and there is almost always a good game to watch, and if you want you can go to all the other courts as well. Two years ago I saw Roger Federer, and Simona Halep up close and personal, last year I saw the Williams sisters play doubles :D in Louis Amstrong and I had great seats. This year I went later and still got to see them both play in Ash, one after the other in the morning session. I was very lucky especially this year, but I can't complain, it was a great day. Watched the Sister's win their match (glad I have a great zoom on my camera) and then I was able to watch Halep play mixed doubles (up close and personal) on one of the smaller courts. Not sure why doubles is not shown more on TV, but live they are often more fun that the singles matches. They tend to be on courts where you can be quite close to the action and often some of the biggest names in tennis are playing so it is worth catching some of those. The atmosphere inside Ashe was electric, the crowd was dialed in and you could almost feel the collective goodwill directed towards first Serena and then Venus. Even if you are not their fan, it was an amazing moment. All in all due to a bit of luck with the weather and the scheduling I got to see some great tennis and had a wonderful day.

Been to Roland Garros and Wimbledon, the Arthur Ashe Stadium is absolutely amazing. However, for other grand slams tournaments, audiences are not allowed to leave their seat except between games. But here in US Open, people can leave any time they want, and it is annoying! A part from this, US Open is an amazing tournament to visit, whether you are a hardcore tennis fan or not.

I"m not sure if i'm supposed to be writing a review of the Men's Final I saw, or of the venue! So i'll do a little of both. I =love= Ashe, and love the grounds at the US Open. Had me a Honeydeuce drink, and had a lobster roll before the tennis, and both were great, altho of COURSE on the pricey side. The views from inside the stadium are great, even sitting way up near the top, had NO problem following the flight of the ball. Too bad the match itself didn't have the "juice" of the high powered FED vs DJOKO match of 2015 which was the last final i saw, but you pays your money (in advance, WAY in advance) and you takes your chances as they say. A marriage proposal happened two rows behind me, btw, which was kinda cool )she said YES) so that added an extra element of fun to the event. I hope i can go to the finals again NEXT year, definitely worth it.

We had an amazing time. The only trouble we had was walking to the event. There were not enough signs where to go. Stopped and spoke to traffic personnel. She said "I don't know". We were guided by second traffic person to walk to shuttle buses which took us the opposite direction. Shuttle bus dropped us nearby venue which we really could have walked to. We had fun once we got inside.

This was the coolest (temperature wise) day we have ever been in attendance - and this was our 20th year going to the US Open! Wonderful weather! We watched 4 matches on Friday beginning with Sloan Stevens win in the temporary Armstrong Stadium and ending in Ashe watching Isner lose in straight sets. Enjoyed our time at the open once again. Our only problem was at court 11. Went to go for a 6 pm match and the man there said it wasn't starting till 7 pm. He was wrong. And we miss our match. We went to the US Open, which is always a fun event to go to, and highly recommended. Unfoftunetly it was a rainy day and all of the outer courts that I had planned to spend my day at had their matches suspended. We ended up having to spend the day in the seats I bought for the Arthur Ashe Stadium. They were very high up due to cost. Next time I would spend more money to sit lower. The seats in the upper sections are so high you can barely see the match. If you plan to watch the greats play tennis spend more and sit lower, or watch on TV.

Awesome day of watching tennis and people. We were a group of 10, all ages. Having so many matches and activities and places to eat was tremendous. The most thing surprised me was Nole Djokovic! I didn't expect to see him on that day, cause it wasn't his final match! I didn't like the men's double since it was fast and boring. I had never seen Pliskova in a final match of any grand slam tour until this event, US Open Women's Final 2016. I came from Korea at night the day before the event but as soon as I figured out that I did not have schedule on the following day, I bought the ticket in my hotel room through Ticketmaster. It was literally about 12 hours before the game because I bought all day ticket to see the men's double final too. Pliskova did a great job although Kerber was too good to beat. Specially Pliskova's forehand and backhand strokes were fantastic. All she needed was a little more concentration on volleys and smashings. I hope to see her growing up to the No.1 in WTA.

First and excellent experience of event seen live which I was seeing on TV all my life. Would like to return here in future. The prices of eatables, commodities and souvenirs are kept prohibitively expensive discouraging visitors to buy. a reasonable pricing would get more income due to higher sales volumes. Same is the case with ticket pricing, which can be moderated. Best of luck for next year.

We visited the US Open Daysession at the opening day and it was amazing. It was our first Grand Slam experience and will be unforgattable. We totally enjoyed the whole day till the late evening. Saw Jack Sock winning and Murray and Djokovic practice. Those were the highlights of the day. The main problem at the Open is that the lines to see some matches are so long that you waste time going to them and finding this out. Unless you stay in one venue the whole day, your tennis watching is limited. Nevertheless, it's the best sporting and entertainment venue to attend, bar none. I've been going for 30 years.

The upgrades to the Billy Jean King Tennis Center were excellent. Everything was very nicely done - easy to find food, bathrooms, courts, etc. What was a HUGE disappointment is that there were SO MANY people there that getting into venue was an ordeal. The new Grandstand was standing room only and even watching the practice courts was challenging. When Novak's opponent had to withdraw and everyone in Ashe (we among them) left, it only made a bad situation outside of Ashe horrible. We have been coming on the same day (the Friday before Labor Day) for many years and it has never been this bad. It used to be a great day to see a lot of tennis - now I'm not sure we'll go back. Too many day tickets sold.

The first session of the US OPEN on Monday was fabulous. If I could go back for more days, i certainly would. We had tickets to Arthur Ashe Stadium and watched 2 partial and 1 full match. We took in another match at the old grand stand. Would highly recommend tickets in section 102 as we were never in the sun (and it was a really hot day). There was one fairly major issue, which was getting into the complex at 11am. It took us over 45 minutes to get through security. In the future, I would hope they have more gates, more metal detectors and bag checkers.

We arrived at 11:30 on Monday and the line to get in on started halfway between the subway and the LIRR entries on the boardwalk. Even the no bag line was nearly as long. Having been to the Open a couple of times before I have experienced how brilliant a tournament this but however this year I was disappointed with the staff working here this year, the ticket ushers in particular. Upon arrival to my seats there were people already sat there and they were clearly not bothered that they were sitting in the wrong seats. I also found that throughout the session I had payed for there was numerous people just jumping into any seat. Having payed a lot of money for loge seats I found this annoying that people with cheaper tickets are permitted into this area and also the constant movement of people from the cheap seats I found was a distraction to the action happening on court. I think the USTA have to sort out this problem as it can ruin the experience of what is a great tournament and venue.

I enjoy the tennis matches. Wish there was more to do, other than shop, in between matches. In past years, there were pop up stations for autographs...miss that. How about some pink colored hats? Transportation is difficult if you're not on the train or have an uber app :-( Wish there were cabs waiting outside or numbers for cabs; out of town people (over 50) found it difficult to get a ride.

It been going for many many years. This year they sold too many grounds passes it was so crowded to go from grabs stand to Louis Armstrong and the Ashe stadium. You had to wait forever just to get in to them. Even the side courts were jam packed. This was Saturday of labor day weekend. The day I always go

Rain started about an hour after we were seated in Arthur Ashe stadium. We had wonderful seats but we were stuck indoors for almost 7 hrs since all play was suspended on all outdoor courts. It was comfortable inside with the roof closed, good A/C, sound system not that clear especially during the interviews after each match. So the weather couldnt be controlled, but in spite of that it was a good day watching some wonderful men and women players especially Rafa Nadal.

Had a great time and got to see lots of tennis. Monday we saw Petra Kvitova over Jelena Jankovic and John Isner over Pierre-Hugues Herbert on the temporary Louis Armstrong stadium. By that the temporary nature of the stadium, lots of shiny aluminium, combined with me forgetting to pack sunglasses had me ready to head over to Ashe. There we got to see Venus Williams overcome Viktoria Kuzmova in 3 sets. Just getting to sit on something other than aluminium bleachers was a welcome relief, but it was great to see just how big and nice a stadium Ashe is.

We had seen matches on the temporary Armstrong court and Ashe the day before, so my Dad suggested checking out a match on the grandstand court. I'm glad he did. That was actually my favorite court to watch at of the three big ones. We got to see two sets of Alex de Minaur vs.Dominic Thiem before the spitting rain grew too heavy for play to continue. Because of the rain, we headed to Ashe and we got to see Naomi Osaka take out Angelique Kerber in straight sets. I was surprised when Osaka went out a few rounds later. Based on the match we saw, I thought she could go very deep into the tournament. Then we got to see Nadal's 1st round match and then some bonus action when Nadal's match ended quickly enough for Jelena Ostapenko to finish her match against Lara Arruabarrena. She was already up 3-1 in the 3rd, and I think it took longer for the players to warm up than to finish up the last three games, but it was still a nice bit of extra tennis. Because of the rain, there wouldn't have been any opportunity to see anything other than what was going on at Ashe. The stadium was really nice and it's fantastic to have a place where play can continue in the event of rain.

We had day session tickets for the first Friday and we were blessed with great weather and fantastic tennis. Tried the new Seafood place near the grandstand and the food was fantastic. As always Grey Goose' Honey Deuce was the drink for the day! Our seats were in the upper 300 section in the Ashe Stadium and though it was quite a climb up to get there it was well worth it.

I love the format of the US Open day sessions, especially during the first week. I love being able to bounce around matches and the ease of getting seats with a great view without spending too much time in line (usually). There's nonstop world class singles/doubles tennis happening, lots of activities, food options, and the app is really help to navigate the schedules/amenities. My only small critique is that the food prices are way too high.

This year was the worst since they destroyed the old grandstand, put up an inadequate temporary Armstrong stadium with limited unreserved seats, restricted seats in the new grandstand, and had mainly uninteresting matches during the day on Friday Sept 1. The big scoreboard was missing due to construction of the new Armstrong so you couldn't see the whole picture at a glance. The best matches were on the outside courts which were crowded whenever a good player was scheduled. Will probably just go to thenqualifiers next year and watch the matches on TV and computer.

The weather was perfect and the crowd was huge but had a great time, especially on the Grandstand Court, where the seats are up close and personal. I go a few times every year and would not miss it. Even the food and shopping are wonderful.

Going to the U.S. Open is like going to the World's Fair. There are things to do and events to see for the entire day and night. It is so much fun and the tennis is great. Everywhere you go is a refurbished or brand new court. The changes made over the past few years makes viewing even more exciting and easy. I recommend it highly.

We travelled from the UK to New York for a five day trip & spent one day at the tennis and loved it. As a family, 3 out of 4 of us are tennis fans but even our non tennis fan enjoyed the day. Great train service to the venue, smooth security search with very little delay and the venue is superb. We have been to Wimbledon several times before and although that is also s great venue we preferred this one as you can watch one match but still see a couple of matches going on on other courts at the same Time on many of the courts, which saves moving around. We had tickets to Arthur Ashe & although we were fairly up in the gods it was a good view. Thoroughly enjoyed our day & will definitely return again. One Negative ( as with all these types of venues) every single thing is far too expensive- make it for the many & not for the few so anyone & everyone can enjoy the experience.

After four years of trying, finally got the pleasure of seeing Roger Federer. Was very happy that the schedulers put him (or Rafa, still haven't seen him) on the day schedule for once during the first week, rather than alternating Roger and Rafa every other night. As always, saw parts of several other good matches. All the work that has been done to upgrade the grounds is great. Looking forward to new Armstrong next year.

If you are a confirmed tennis nut and have never been to the US Open, a day session in the first week is your best value. Dozens of matches to choose among and some of the most exciting matches are on the outer courts. It's hard to feel the power of these players in the big stadium/s but on the outer courts, it's obvious. Bring some snacks to get started and spend on the food and drink at the venue at the end of the day. The new Grandstand and Court 17 have top players and great atmosphere, making them the best spots for your grounds pass. Even with a ticket to Ashe, you may get better views of the top matches watching the jumbotrons but even Ashe is an amazing experience for a first-time visitor.

Have to say the US open is an amazing event for a grand slam ... it has plenty of space, good quality food choices and lots of seats even on the side courts so you will get to see a lot of tennis even if you do not have Arthur Ashe tickets.
